Problem with sense and all the software after trying to root - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I was trying to root my at&t htc one x from designgears but after the phone restarted twice and the process was complete, my phone became worthless, the homescreen is gone as well as everything except the notification bar. I tried hard reset but when the settings wont open and the volume down button/power button method doesnt do anything but restart my phone to the current worthless state. Need help!!!! How can I fix this problem????

Sounds like the local.prop file was not removed which is causing the instability either run the script again or if you know how to use adb try these commands
adb shell rm /data/local.prop
adb reboot

Modaco

So I rooted my device with revolutionary a week ago. I hav modaco 4.0.0.8 installed and am trying to upgrade because ive moticed some roms are requiring it. My problems are that one. I cant go into recovery anymore it gets stuck at the my touch 4g image next whenever I enter the command into terminal e it says not found when o can clearly see thats its in its rightful place. I also have had no lucl w adb I jst cant seem to get it to connect so im not sure what to do anymore. Pleasee help.
Make sure you have fastboot unchecked or turn off your phone and pull the battery for a few seconds. Then turn it on while holding the volume down button. The myTouch screen shouldn't pop up and you should go straight into h-boot from where you can select recovery. If you can't then something didn't go right with your revolutionary process. If it did and you flashed the superuser zip and you can access su from terminal then you can download and install the new modaco recovery through terminal. Let us know what process you're hanging up on and we'll see what we can do to help.
Well I can go into hboot but once I click recovery it'll get stuck at the my touch screen and the problem I'm stuck at is once I type su ane begin entering the command it says the file is not found everytime but when I go into the location using file expert, it displays the .img file so I don't understand why its saying it can't find the file.
Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Can someone go over the the step by step process??
Can you boot normally at all?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA App
Yeah I can, everything works fine, I jst can't boot into recovery mode no matter how hard I try. And I can't copy the .img file to the proper location.
You need to push it via adb or term emulator.
Sent from my HTC Doubleshot using xda premium
Tats the problem. Term emulator says the file cant b found even though it is there when i look. And adb just wont interact w my phone. I keep trying to connect it but no luck
Interesting. Idk then. Looks like you got a bad egg.
Sent from my HTC Doubleshot using xda premium
I had the same problem. Look at my first post on this forum and use the fastboot method Etn40ff gave me. I was able to enter the command from adb and it flashed the cwm recovery image like a charm.

Build.prop

I have the Motorola Fire XT rooted and deleted the build.prop file in the system. I have a back - up of the file on my computer but not my phone. I need to figure out a way how to put it on my phone. My phone is in a boot loop. Any help? Thanks.
You could push it to your device via adb. This can be done manually or you could use a tool such as this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599332.
You need adb. Install adb and put the build.prop file in the same folder as adb and use the command "adb push build.prop /system"

What can one do if this action is needed (running ADB) but the user haven't turned on USB-Debuggning, nor can enter the recovery mode.
Considered a bricked device?

No. Do you have this issue? If so, are you able to boot into fastboot/bootloader?

Hello,
Yes I do.
I can't get into recovery mode because the device gets stuck at the logo.
I know it's the correct buttons being pressed as I do have another same tablet which enters recovery without problems.
If you mean fastboot via USB-Debugging? Well I can't do any ADB because I don't have USB-debugging enabled.
Any idea how to rescue this tab?
Thanks

If resetting the device doesn't work, you don't have access to recovery mode/bootloader/fastboot or even download mode (depending on your device), then there is pretty much nothing you can really do to fix it yourself. The only other possibility would be to try to run the stock ruu (if it has one).

Thanks for the suggestions, but that would suck
Must be something I can do.
It's a Chinese brand tablet, the quality is good but this is the only issue.
However, if I plug in the tablet to the computer, something called "WinDroid Linker" shows up on the PC and I remote to the tablet while I'm on the screen that says I need to do a factory reset. From there I can reach keyboard settings, but that's all I've figured out so far.
Due to the fact that I'm able to remote the tablet, shouldn't I be able to do something from there?
I'm not, however, able to reach the storage as far as I know.
Thanks

If you can get into recovery mode, find the mount options. Mount /system. Then adb push the file to your phone.

Ya but if im in recovery my phone wont show up in the listed devices. And now my device wont show up as its booting up. If there is a way for adb to recognize the phone in recovery that would be great.
If you have adb properly setup it should see it in recovery. What recovery are youbusing? I do this stuff in clockwork all the time when I'm porting roms.

[Q] ADB can't find phone

Alright, this is an interesting one for y'all. Broke my power button on my Sensation about 6 months ago, and have been turning it on using adb on my computer...Well, my computer went kaput this weekend, and my phone decided to freeze as well. Now I can't get it to reboot on any other machine. I'm assuming this may be due to missing HTC drivers, but with the phone off I can't really tell.. adb will only come back with "device not found".
TLR
1) broke power button months ago and boot from adb
2) computer broke, and phone turned off
3) adb on other computers cannot boot phone "device not found"
Any help would be greatly appreciated, spent a few hours playing around with this and no luck yet >.<

Hi,
You are not in a good place, are you?
Drivers are HERE
Try different USB slots.
No USB 3.0 , or hubs.
Still no luck. Thanks, though. Any other ideas?
How did you break the power button? Just the plastic?
Might be easier to fix the button itself than to continue using your gimped device
Might sound stupid.. But did you have usb debugging enabled? (settings- develop options)

This is critical and easy to overlook. But if thats not the problem try killing and restarting the adb server.
Adb kill-server
Adb start-server
Adb devices
If you are using Linux, run those commands as root
Sudo adb kill-server ......etc etc etc
On more than one occasion that has solved this problem for me
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
I also think that fixing the button is easiest way. You can remove Sensation cover and make conntact even without button. Later, make sure you do not need to do it again (keep battery charged before phone powers off)

Firewater S-Off method not working?

ADB sees my phone, everything is getting pushed to the phone and when I run firewater, it goes through all 12 bottles and then says it can't complete. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

For what it's worth I did use a 3.0 port on a z87 board with 8.1 64bit installed with no issues to report. It completed on the first bottle.
Ditto. I used Windows 8.1 and a usb 3 port (is all my laptop has), and everything worked fine - 1st try.
I know that doesn't help op, but would also hate to see him chasing extraneous things that aren't the problem.

Also make sure your screen is awake and doesnt have any type of lock screen. I just had slide to unlock and it didnt work first time, disabled it and made sure screen never went to sleep and worked 2nd time no issues.

Got it working. I closed my cmd session. Rebooted phone manually. Waited for root achieved and started over. Only this time I skipped the adb reboot step. All is good now. Also used usb 3.0

Mine did the same thing. Adb wasn't recognizing me phone after adb reboot so I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Entered adb devices to makes sure I could see my device and then instead of typing
adb wait-for-device push firewater/data/local/tmp
I typed
adb push firewater/data/local/tmp
And everything went through fine.

HTC One Mini (No OS/Data wiped) HELP!

I need some help, I'm a total noob at all this stuff. So basically, all what I wanted to do is root my phone. So I unlocked bootloader, installed twrp, had super user and everything but while I was on the twrp menu rather than hitting the install button I hit the wipe button then accidentally (really) confirmed wiping. Now my phone is completely wiped no OS nor data, at least it boots up but the booting up loading screen stays there forever. I can also get into the bootloader screen but for some reason when I try to install twrp again it doesn't install, there's like that small green bar at the top right of the bootloader screen it only does half way 50% and never increases. I'm really hopeless, lol. Please help, what should I do? How to install HTC's One mini OS from scratch without having any problems?

Did that too with my HTC One M7UL once upon a time. You can push files to your device, when it's in fastboot, via adb fastboot. So push a system/zip to your device and flash it in TWRP, when you get there. As long as you can do adb in fastboot, there's hope for you!
Good luck
Thanks for your reply.
Do you by any chance know where to get HTC One Mini's system zip?
Hello, put your phone out by holding the powerbutton till it is really out.
Then hold volume up and the powerbutton, this will get you to TWRP.
Now you can use ADB sideload to push a rom to your phone by using adb.

Thanks for the reply really appreciate your help, but when I try to push a file using cmd it says ''error device not found'' What could be causing this error to happen and how to fix? Thanks again.
It's a good idea to update the drivers for the phone, if you don't already have that. Btw, that's the HTC syncing program. Try the command: adb devices. That will show connected devices.
