So I rooted my device with revolutionary a week ago. I hav modaco 4.0.0.8 installed and am trying to upgrade because ive moticed some roms are requiring it. My problems are that one. I cant go into recovery anymore it gets stuck at the my touch 4g image next whenever I enter the command into terminal e it says not found when o can clearly see thats its in its rightful place. I also have had no lucl w adb I jst cant seem to get it to connect so im not sure what to do anymore. Pleasee help.
Make sure you have fastboot unchecked or turn off your phone and pull the battery for a few seconds. Then turn it on while holding the volume down button. The myTouch screen shouldn't pop up and you should go straight into h-boot from where you can select recovery. If you can't then something didn't go right with your revolutionary process. If it did and you flashed the superuser zip and you can access su from terminal then you can download and install the new modaco recovery through terminal. Let us know what process you're hanging up on and we'll see what we can do to help.
Well I can go into hboot but once I click recovery it'll get stuck at the my touch screen and the problem I'm stuck at is once I type su ane begin entering the command it says the file is not found everytime but when I go into the location using file expert, it displays the .img file so I don't understand why its saying it can't find the file.
Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Can someone go over the the step by step process??
Can you boot normally at all?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA App
Yeah I can, everything works fine, I jst can't boot into recovery mode no matter how hard I try. And I can't copy the .img file to the proper location.
You need to push it via adb or term emulator.
Sent from my HTC Doubleshot using xda premium
Tats the problem. Term emulator says the file cant b found even though it is there when i look. And adb just wont interact w my phone. I keep trying to connect it but no luck
Interesting. Idk then. Looks like you got a bad egg.
Sent from my HTC Doubleshot using xda premium
I had the same problem. Look at my first post on this forum and use the fastboot method Etn40ff gave me. I was able to enter the command from adb and it flashed the cwm recovery image like a charm.

You are far from a brick. Did you make a backup? Can you get into recovery? Do you have an engineering bootloader? Did you try to load a backup? What phone do you have?

if you can get into recovery, have you tried a full data/cache wipe?
he said he can't get into recovery.
you should try to manually flash a recovery mod on your phone through ADB shell
Now i can get into recovery, but i got cant open chache/recovery/command error
ANDD!!!!!Now i can login into ADB shell how to reflash from .img file?
Im not exactly sure, but is there any at-boot options besides recovery (I.e. hold volume up or volume down at boot and see options (im coming from Atrix which has these))? If so, try to get into an option called fastboot. Its a protocall which allows you to use the fastboot program from the Android SDK on your computer to flash new images. There are precompiled versions from HTC (search google) that allow you to connect your device using the USB cable and flash new images. As I haven't even ever seen the device, I can't help u a whole lot, sorry.

I dont even HAVE any buttons :3 and why version for htc should work on my device?
htc hd2 not working
help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
last week i managed to put android onto my htchd2 ! all was going well untill
saturday when i put it to charge . after it finished charging i noticed it had frozen
me being me desided to take the battery out and put it back in thats when it happened i can turn it back on but all i get is a black screen with the android logo and htc on > can any body help
I was already telling, that I DONT HAVE ANY BUTTONS other than power button
I tried following cyanogen wiki on an Inspire 4G. It didn't work and gave "Incorrect Model ID" error.
So I switched to use Hack-Ace tool. Everything worked as expected and I guess I was going good. When Hack-Ace completed, the phone went into an infinite look showing HTC logo then blind to a black screen with background light ON.
I could ADB and reboot in bootloader where I clashed the CM7 ROM. Every step went through fine and it restarted. Now all I get is nothing.
The device shows the HTC Logo on white screen after leaving a while and the vibrator is ON constantly. It doesn't help really but keeps doing that. It will only stop if I remove battery.
Plugging the device into USB doesn't detect on PC.
When tried charging, it shows the error messages and nothing happens, no buttons interact.
I guess I have a full brickd phone now

You font nerd recovery with that file. Just out it on the root if your sdcard. Meaning not in any folder and boot into bootloader...not recovery then it will recognize the file then just follow onscreen instructions

Dude download the PD98 file above it is the rooted updated gingerbread ROM. Place it in the root of your SD card (you will have to remove SD card and use adapter to move zip file to root of SD card if PC does not recognize phone with USB cable) and power phone off then power back up holding down power button and volume down button at same time. Phone should go to bootloader then it will recognize the PD98 zip file and ask if you want to istall. Volume up for yes and it will do its thing. No need to try to get into recover phone will do it itself with the PD98 zip file. Zip is (ATT ROM 2.47.502.7 w/Radio - 26.10.04.03_M)

I believe Rom Toolbox isn't good for much, if anything. I'm not sure why changing or downloading themes in this app could cause you to bootloop, but if it has you need to run a 'return to stock' 2.3.5 script by booting into AP Fastboot or use RSD Lite. OTA update to 2.3.6, re-root, and you should be good.
Everything you need to know is found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
Also, going forward, ALWAYS make a CWM Backup before doing anything, like flashing roms or experimenting with root apps.

There is no reason why the aforementioned suggestion shouldn't have worked. Couple things to keep in mind:
Do you have a fully charged battery when doing all this?
Do you have the Motorola USB drivers installed?
Did you DL the proper fxz for your phone?
Make sure you boot into fast boot by holding up on the volume rocker, and then holding the power button down.
Attach your USB cable to the BACK of your com, and follow the instructions listed out in the link in the post above.
Follow them exactly!

Before using the restore script you need to install the USB drivers for your MB865 (If this your model A2), you can get those from HERE:
Next, unzip the Return to Stock 2.3.5 Fastboot SCRIPT.zip to anywhere you like in your pc (example: C:\RestoreScript\ ) The script can be downloaded HERE:
Then, connect your phone with the USB cable to the PC and get into FastBoot mode for this in your phone by pressing and holding down the volume down & volume up & power at the same time. It should appear with a screen and some options; use the volume down key of your phone to navigate through the menu until you see the AP FastBoot option, then enter by pressing the volume up key, this will show you some messages and the finally it should said USB connected.
Then open the folder where you extracted the Return to Stock 2.3.5 FastBoot SCRIPT files and search a .bat file call "Stock Restore" - should be toward the bottom of the files in this folder. Then run the file (double click on it) and it should open a command prompt screen with some instructions if the phone is connected correctly and you installed the drivers correctly then in some point the screen will show you the ID of your device and it will wait you to press the enter key to start the process. Press any key to enter and wait for the process to begin to program. Then, after some time the command prompt window will give you a message saying its finished. After that, it will reboot your phone and install the stock 2.3.5. When it boots up again, you should see the android logo and a progress bar filling up.
When it's done wait for the device to reboot again, and after that you can OTA (Over-The-Air) update to Android version 2.3.6. by navigating in your device to Settings/About Phone/System Updates.
Hope this helps.

This link should still be good: http://www.filefactory.com/file/2zx...hing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID285.zip
This assuming you are using a AT&T MB865 model. Verify before you flash!

so true. My record is 29 softbricks in one day.
Also, install CWM on boot!
This way your phone ALWAYS boots into recovery on initial start up. Saved me too many times to count.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606257
Or certain roms already have it.

+1 CWM on boot
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
I don't have time to get into development yet, and I still make sure I put that on...just a lifesaver if something goes wrong!
Hey guys,
I hope I'm not missing something obvious because I spent the last 2 hours searching for a solution.
Today I decided to unlock and root my Motorola Xoom 3G (EU-version, stock-android 4.x).
I unlocked it using fastboot and flashed the CWM recovery. But when I try to enter the recovery menu by pressing volume down when the Motorola logo apperas, it just says "Reading ODM fuse: 1". After that, it shows me a picture with an red exclamation mark.
I have no idea what to do now. Since I have no ADB access, I'm not able to do a "adb reboot bootloader" to flash CWM again.
Do you guys have any clue what's the matter? Thanks in advance
prisoner627
im assuming your xoom still boots up? if so youll still be able to get adb to work, just try flashing cwm again , you can also get fastboot working by turning the xoom on once you see the motorola logo count to 3 then press volume up and itll start fastboot protocol support
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Right, I forgot. It still boots up but I can't get through the lockscreen. There's a message saying "device not ready. please enter a valid sim card".
right unfortunately i cant help with regards to sim card error as i own the wifi only model but someone a bit more knowledge able will see this and may have the answer
have you tried putting a sim card in? what does it say if you put one in?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Alright, I didn't mind the branding. With a T-Mobile card, I am able to enter the PIN and use the Xoom as usual.
Before I really mess up, can you tell me what to do next? Unfortunately, I don't have a micro sd card here so I am not able to do the "Universal Xoom Root" ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242241 ).
ok so youve unlocked the bootloader using fastboot oem unlock?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Yup, unlocked it is.
ok next step is to push recovery via adb have you tried doing that again?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
recovery via ADB? I tried the CWM recovery image via fastboot last time ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979 ).
yea you connect your xoom to pc let it connect etc etc, then open a command prompt in same folder where your adb files are located then type
adb reboot bootloader
once rebooted into bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery ( name of recovery here)
make sure youve downloaded the recovery image and not the zip file
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Alright I did everything, no errors. But when I boot into the recovery, I still get "Reading ODM fuse: 1" and the exclamation mark...
try a different recovery perhaps? theres a few on here ill see if i can find one i used and post link
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Yes I already thought of using the recovery of Team Rogue but it comes as a zip file, so I can't flash it, right?
cant flash it without entering recovery, im not sure what cauaing the problem , when you hold the power button and you get shutdown reboot etc if you press reboot do you get a second set of option ?? reboot, recovery bootloader etc?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
You mean pressing the power button in normal usage, on the homescreen? I only get to decide whether I want to shut down the device or not. But this wasn't different before I started "flashing".
aah ok must be the rom im on thats got it , im not really sure where to go from here maybe do a factory reset and try again youve unlocked your bootloader though so dnt need to do that again

This past weekend i rooted my MyTouch 4G Slide and all went well. i downloaded all the popular root apps like rom manager, superuser , and rom tool pro or root tool pro i forget, but while on root tool pro i was downloading fonts and trying to find a cool one so i downloaded a font from the internet and installed it and my phone went black. coincientally i had just deleted all of my backups because they were "wasting" my memory.
i tried to flash a rom to fix it , but they dont work and i think because my phone is s-on.
is there anyway else i can use a backup ? or do i have to turn my s-on to s-off ?

USB debugging has nothing to do with fastboot. Go into bootloader then choose fastboot USB once there put the boot.img where fastboot is and use 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
