Wow. Well done!
I'll need this for my area (AT&T hates the NW)
I'm not thinking straight.... I'm not in an LTE area, which should I select?

The option without LTE
Will shutting down LTE make a difference if its not even available in my area?
idk with wifi on still, i still have 4g lte option, with data offline, i still have 4g icon but no data lol..
i dont think it even drains your battery regardless if your in lte or not
Mine won't let ne change it

There's like 1048204. But I figured it out.
Shame on all of you for discovering this !!! AT&T DOES not want LTE folks selecting HSPA+ when in an LTE area. They want to be able charge you more for data!!!
mine wont let me change it either to any option without LTE

This..........
Would be even cooler if it was a widget to do this.
But still, how does this save money? If you use the data you're gonna use it. Downloading an e-mail uses the same amount of data no matter how fast you get it.
I am curious though that if this helps save battery if you know you're in an area with spotty coverage...Maybe it won't be hunting for LTE when you know there is no LTE, which could save battery maybe?
I sill have poor performance inside my apartment. So weird. It says 4G and even 4G LTE sometimes but I don't have internet. I just turned on the WiFi ... but still, calls with static (though they work) and my wife never had these issues on her iPhone. Really disappointed but fortunately the issue goes away when I'm actually mobile. I wonder if I switch to a different setting if it will improve indoors or not. --edit-- THIS indoor setting, not all "indoors"
This does not work, guys. It didn't work on the GS2 either. It defaults back to an LTE option every single time. If you are in an HSPA area, you may THINK it is working because your connection remains HSPA, but I assure you that it is not working.
In an LTE area, I stay in LTE, no matter how many times I try to switch to HSPA using this method.
Just set up a HSPA APN and make that the default. Then you will only be on HSPA untill you change it back to the LTE APN

Is there a HowTo on this?
Those sneaky bastards. They are found a way to auto change it back to AT&T default for the GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto selection. No matter what I select it defaults back.
AT&T Got creative on restricting this phone those a**holes.
From my understanding the S4 chipset on the One X is integrated with LTE so there is a lot less power drain that other chipsets with LTE. It might not be possible to turn it off if they're both working on the same radio. Or even if you do manage to turn it off, there might not be as big of a battery performance boost as with other LTE devices.

that doesn't really help too much. what's your screen on time? i got around 3hrs yesterday. still calibrating my battery though. seems to be lasting me about a day (12hrs +/-) with LTE always on which is great imo.
Has anyone noticed that when using the browser or any app, towards the bottom of the screen in a pop up it says "preparing simcard"? What's up with that?
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Never seen it.
I only see it when i boot up my phone in the morning.
In the notification bar it'll show "changing restricted access" with a triangle and a ! inside of it.
I wonder...wtf does it mean!

Looks like what that was AT&T working on deploying LTE here in Jacksonville. Yay LTE! I'm hitting 30-55 down and 15-29 down on average...
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
I've been wondering about this, too. I get it fairly often, and not just when booting. Sometimes I see the "restricted access" message, sometimes not.

I see this all the time when playing games or doing other stuff.. I think it may have something to do with switching networks.. I say that because I get really bad service at my house, and I see it switch from lte to 4g to edge constantly, soooo.. I dunno? Happens to me tho.
Happens here too, on Rogers One X on virgin. If it is LTE related that could make sense because virgin has LTE but has only deployed it for tablet sims so far, not for phones, but the network is there.
This is the second handset I've received and is now experiencing the same symptoms. With the phone sitting on my desk at work it drops the connection to the Rogers tower and sits in NO Service state.
Has anyone else experienced the same problems with their One-X?
Q.
Yep, I get this too. I'm quite sure it'll be fixed in an update, but in the meantime I have switch in and out of airplane mode to fix it.

Airplane mode doesn't do a thing for me to get it reconnected. I have to reboot the phone. I also still get the 'preparing SIM' message now and then. Others have attributed that to Sense and using another launcher either fixed it or covered up the message from being displayed.
I am curious if there is a hardware issue with intermittent contact with the SIM card.
Hey guys,
I got my HOX on Friday last week and I've rooted, unlocked the bootloader network unlocked it so I could use it with Bell. I haven't noted those symptoms being on the Bell Network. Could be worth to check with Rogers.
I had tons of connection issues on Rogers....until I disabled LTE. Now I get full bars all the time and never lose the network. I used to get 1-2 bars max on LTE and I would randomly lose connection completely. I think Rogers LTE network just sucks.

Yeah I never get much more then 2 bars on LTE either, but the speeds are lightning fast

AWS has terrible wall penetration. This is why Wind Mobile and Mobilicity customers are always complaining about the terrible reception and dropped calls they get. Rogers uses the same frequency.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Interestingly enough, I'm not even on an LTE plan. Confirmed with Rogers today that I am still on my Captivate's 3G plan.
I never get the LTE in the notifications bar just 4G and my signal will go from full bars to nothing.
Another interesting observation -although it might have been coincidence, when I noticed I was in No Service I tapped the back of the phone like anyone would when frustrated and low and behold, it came back online!
The evidence of a hardware problem reading the SIM is growing.....2nd phone showing the same issue though ????, very odd.
Q.
I am using mine on att and I am experiencing the same issue.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
i think the issue is the phone not reading the sim card properly. I'm the "preparing sim card" pop-up has something to do with it also

I am about to receive my rogers one x too and use with att. Do I need to setup apn myself for lte? Or do I need a new sim from att?
I have my Rogers HOX unlocked for Telus, I haven't lost cell usage but I do get loss of data connection all the time... I go into Gmail or YouTube and it says no connection retry.. Hit retry and it good.. pain in as but that's what I get for unlocking it...

My AT&T HOX is doing this too, network drops off and it gets stuck on EDGE.
Just started yesterday. I've had the phone since launch last Sunday.
Unfotunetly i have the same problem. i rooted my HOX (AT&T) to use another service. but my new service is not working properly, signal is always too weak. Is there anyone who knows to solve? HELP NEEDED...
This is weird I have had my One X for about two weeks and have never experienced a signal drop I've always been one LTE or a maybe for a few hours when I drive out to 4G or something, but never an actual drop. Not sure if this helps but I flashed the Asia Radio and I am using the Nocturnal xi40 rom.

thx for your help. but could you pls explain me how did you flashed the radio. and is this rom works for HOX AT&T model. as you know there are diffrences between global HOX and AT&T HOX.
I flashed the radios through the TWRP recovery, and the the roms posted in the other thread have all so far worked for my rogers HTC One X.

I just got this phone from AT&T yesterday, everything else is fine, but I just can't connect to the WiFi network. I can scan it, and the signal strength is normal, but everytime I try to connect, the signal suddenly drops to nothing, and it stucks at a connect-disconnected-scan-connect loop. I've already tried flashing the latest RUU (which they say it solves some of the WiFi problems) and read hundreds of threads and articles about this, I JUST CANNOT FIND A CASE SIMILAR TO ME.
Any ideas? This is so annoying because the laptop beside my gets full signal and my EVO 3D gets full too, but One X AT&T just...... Awwwwww any ideas??? 4G LTE is perfectly fine.

What router are you connecting to?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
What radio are you using? If you are rooted and bl unlocked, you could flash the 2 09 radio that is on the devs section. If however you are stock and have no desire to root etc .. you could try restarting your phone, and your router. Also, you could try forgetting the network that you want to connect to, then try joining. I remember having this problem when I got my hox, and tgat did the trick for me.

Is the SSID hidden?
This prevented me from using my home network, and even caused the phone to reboot instantly upon connecting.
Try WPS (I think WiFi protected setup) if it is a newer router. The jist of it is you push a button on your router then select WPS on your one x and it gives you 90 seconds to connect without a password.

Exchange it. Sounds like my issue I had. But mine father trying to connect could not see any networks till I turned wifi on and off.
Restart your router.... Solved it when mine was doing the same.

My lte is not working. I'm rooted and running cyanogen mod 10. I am in an LTE area. I've tried a number of different roms including sense. I've tried flashing different radios. Nothing seems to be fixing the problem. I got lte a while ago when I was on viper rom and haven't gotten it since. Flashed back to viper and still no lte. What should I try next? Thanks for any help.

Is the following checked on your phone?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
From the CM10 Q&A:
Q: My signal strength says 4G. Why is there no LTE?
A: E=Edge, 3G = UMTS, H = HSPA/HSPA+, 4G = LTE
Go into system tuner or ROM manager and then edit this build.prop:
ro.telephony.default_network
Change the number to 10 or 11 (that's what worked for me)
Save it and reboot.
Let me know if this works. I've brought this up before but I was shot down and told no one has this problem.
