I just got this phone from AT&T yesterday, everything else is fine, but I just can't connect to the WiFi network. I can scan it, and the signal strength is normal, but everytime I try to connect, the signal suddenly drops to nothing, and it stucks at a connect-disconnected-scan-connect loop. I've already tried flashing the latest RUU (which they say it solves some of the WiFi problems) and read hundreds of threads and articles about this, I JUST CANNOT FIND A CASE SIMILAR TO ME.
Any ideas? This is so annoying because the laptop beside my gets full signal and my EVO 3D gets full too, but One X AT&T just...... Awwwwww any ideas??? 4G LTE is perfectly fine.

What router are you connecting to?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
What radio are you using? If you are rooted and bl unlocked, you could flash the 2 09 radio that is on the devs section. If however you are stock and have no desire to root etc .. you could try restarting your phone, and your router. Also, you could try forgetting the network that you want to connect to, then try joining. I remember having this problem when I got my hox, and tgat did the trick for me.

Is the SSID hidden?
This prevented me from using my home network, and even caused the phone to reboot instantly upon connecting.
Try WPS (I think WiFi protected setup) if it is a newer router. The jist of it is you push a button on your router then select WPS on your one x and it gives you 90 seconds to connect without a password.

Exchange it. Sounds like my issue I had. But mine father trying to connect could not see any networks till I turned wifi on and off.
Restart your router.... Solved it when mine was doing the same.

This is the second handset I've received and is now experiencing the same symptoms. With the phone sitting on my desk at work it drops the connection to the Rogers tower and sits in NO Service state.
Has anyone else experienced the same problems with their One-X?

Yep, I get this too. I'm quite sure it'll be fixed in an update, but in the meantime I have switch in and out of airplane mode to fix it.

Airplane mode doesn't do a thing for me to get it reconnected. I have to reboot the phone. I also still get the 'preparing SIM' message now and then. Others have attributed that to Sense and using another launcher either fixed it or covered up the message from being displayed.
I am curious if there is a hardware issue with intermittent contact with the SIM card.
Hey guys,
I got my HOX on Friday last week and I've rooted, unlocked the bootloader network unlocked it so I could use it with Bell. I haven't noted those symptoms being on the Bell Network. Could be worth to check with Rogers.
I had tons of connection issues on Rogers....until I disabled LTE. Now I get full bars all the time and never lose the network. I used to get 1-2 bars max on LTE and I would randomly lose connection completely. I think Rogers LTE network just sucks.

AWS has terrible wall penetration. This is why Wind Mobile and Mobilicity customers are always complaining about the terrible reception and dropped calls they get. Rogers uses the same frequency.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Interestingly enough, I'm not even on an LTE plan. Confirmed with Rogers today that I am still on my Captivate's 3G plan.
I never get the LTE in the notifications bar just 4G and my signal will go from full bars to nothing.
Another interesting observation -although it might have been coincidence, when I noticed I was in No Service I tapped the back of the phone like anyone would when frustrated and low and behold, it came back online!
The evidence of a hardware problem reading the SIM is growing.....2nd phone showing the same issue though ????, very odd.

I am using mine on att and I am experiencing the same issue.

i think the issue is the phone not reading the sim card properly. I'm the "preparing sim card" pop-up has something to do with it also

Hey guys,
I have an AT&T One X. I unlocked the phone and when I insert a foreighn sim card, I get this triangle error in the notification. It says:Restricted Access Changed: Data Service is Blocked. I can't use data only through mobile network. Can call, can text, can use data through wifi.
I have not rooted or unlocked bootloader. Only thing I did is unlock the phone through a code. Any suggestions?
Maybe you don't have the correct data plan?

i just flashed cm9 on my sensation and the signal keeps cuting in and out i tryed to mess with the network settings but i still dont get anything and i reflashed still samething
what should i do?
Okay a few things first...
When you say the signal cuts out...what signal do you mean? Cell, mobile data, or wifi? (Each has its own fixes)
Second, how long have you had the problem and did it start as soon as you first booted cm9? If it has just been a few hours and it worked on cm9 at one point, it could just be a network issue that is out of your hands.

Known issue in AOSP builds, wipe cache and dalvik-cache
Check your APN's.
If you have 2 or 3 to choose from, delete all but the one you actually need. You are on t mobile so assuming you do a normal monthly billing plan with a contract the correct apn is the one called t mobile-us. You may see one for simple mobile and something else too.
AOSP builds sometimes install multiple apn's at initial set up. Its usually not a problem for 98% of users as you are supposed to be able to pick 1 and have the others be ignored, but sometimes it doesnt ignore the 2 that you arent supposed to use and tries to connect to all three. This may not be what is causing your problem, but its worth a shot.
2 variations on this......
In one version your data will connect for a second then drop for 2 seconds and repeat indefinitely. That is when the phone is trying to use all the apn's.
In the other version your data doesnt work at all. This could be because you are locked into the wrong apn or the correct one had been corrupted/altered. If you have never messed with your apns this is less likely.

Hello Everyone. I have an att one X that is having an odd wifi issue. I've googled and only found the hardware wifi issue and im pretty sure that's not what i have. I actually got this phone on a trade for a one s, when i recieved the X it alrealdy had the venom rom installed. so at first i thought that it was just maybe a bad rom flash because i looked at the rom build and it was one of the earlier versions, but i flashed cm10 and the issue is still there. The issue with my wifi is that it doesn't connect to anything even if im right next to the router. it doesn't seem to find the router and it'll constantly pickup random wifi signals and not the one i want, but regardless it will never connect. all of the info i've seen out there about the hardware problem says its a week signal problem with both wifi and Bluetooth but it'll still connect. my bluetooth also seems to be working fine. I'm on the new firmware i believe because i have to flash the boot image through fastboot in order to get a rom to load. Can it be the Kernal? i've been reading on this so such for the last two days that i think i read that the kernal must also me flashed in a different way, not straight through the recovery.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'll try and post a quick video on this issue later on
Bro.. Mr sinco and I have been fighting this issue with aosp ROMs for the last 6-8 weeks.... We've brought it up and seems to be pushed aside.. it started making me mad enough to where I'm back on sense ROMs. (Not that there's anything bad about them, I rather aosp)

Do you turn this off in the phone or the router?
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2
On the router. DMZ is a security subnetwork to help keep internet "things" out of your router. WPS is also on the router and helps people who have trouble connecting devices to their router to be able to just hit a button to connect. Turn them both off in the router settings.

i realize my post was far from informative...yes my issue is it not conecting as well. will try, but if you watch it, it stops and just sits at "secured, not in range" or wtf ever. After you put the password in, turn the screen off and let it sleep for a minute, i bet when you turn the screen on itll be connected (its been my only solution so far)
Well PLUKK thanks for all of the feedback. My issue is experiencing it's own unique characteristics and issues I haven't seen, but also includes some of yours. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test on any open unsecured network yet. But the thing with my phone is that it will literally be right next to the router and it sometimes won't show the router in my list of available networks but it'll show others. And all of them are secured. I've tried this at my home and my girlfriends home and here at the school I work at. I work at college so WIFi is everywhere and I've never had problems connecting before, but the issue is that it doesn't even show up on the available networks sometimes it it'll show a network I've never seen. I'll try and post a video about this issue a little later. As I know I'm probably Not getting my point across very well.
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2
Every router is different and each one has security set up different. That's why some you see and some you don't. It is the phones ROM causing issue BUT it can be solved by adjusting settings. Since you can't do that if the router is not yours then you can
A. Wait for a fix
B. Use a sense ROM
C. Turn off WiFi
I have tried myself for a week trying to fix my phone too but I have the know how to only do so much. Good lukk

Not a noob but am I missing something. Never happened before but sense ROMs wifi is perfectly fine. Sucks to have these next to perfect 4.2.2 ROMs out here and I can't enjoy them. And I haven't seen anyone else reports this. It will see all the networks but when I try to connect it just cancels. Full wipes/permission fixing you name it. It just won't connect.

I'm pretty sure 2Wire routers have always had some sort of issue with AOSP. It certainly isn't the ROM, the ROM is great. It's your router. I suggest keep trying and make sure that all of your settings are correct.

The nexus 10 doesn't have problems connecting to my 2wire router, but my HOX on cm10.1 and cm10 always had and has issues connecting to it. It takes so long to connect... sometimes its fast sometimes its like 5-10 minutes. manually pressing "connect" doesn't do anything, it doesn't even try to connect and then after waiting for a while its connected. Hate this thing.
Its not the router, because on sense my phone never had issues connecting to it. Its obviously the ROM's fault for the most part.
It did all types of test with different routers. 10.1 just does play nice with 2wires. Connected flawlessly with other routers and my FiOS home router

Did you S-OFF ? I had WiFi issue with all CM build (10, 10.1) until I had it S-OFF.
The issue I was facing is that the phone can connect to WiFi but its Speed on Web Brower and Play Store is freaking SLOW (like you're on edge)(but if you test internet connection speed with SpeedTest app, it's fast as much as you can get out of your Cable connection). After I S-Off, the problem just simply disappear.
DID I s-off? Lol but yea I did but that sounds like a whole other issue that you were experiencing. Its def the type of router though.
