i think
seance i haven't done this the guy did mention something about the kernel how he couldn't recover it
I fix the issue just installed twrp and used that instead of cwm and problem fixed itself. Also glad I did so much more user friendly then cwm and its nice to use the touch screen to.

Hi, I was using Paul Burtons ICS port and I made a backup of my Prime rom . However when I booted back to CWM and restored the NAND backup it says succesful yet when I reboot, the screen stays black after the transformer splashscreen/logo.. I tried erasing all data and factory reset and searched and checked the original thread... I can however go back to the ics port and successfully boot up to it... any help would be greatly appreciated.. thank you XDA.
goodness ya noob.. you shouldn't have flashed that ics port.. it was extremely experimental. Anyways seeing that you tried everything I would have, Im sorry to say that i can't help but I applaud you for at least searching and checking the original thread. LOL.

wipe /syste /data /cache... basically everything in CWM possible, then re-flash the Prime or whatever you want
I did the same thing as op. But when I try restoring I get an error saying .android_secure.img is missing. Any ideas?

Maybe a fresh install instead of a restore?

Im back at stock and i still cant restore. Its the .android_secure.img. its missing from my sd card
i had the same problem i did the wipes in cwm and then restored and got a black screen as you describe.
then i grabbed superwipe from revolution rom(i dnt kno if its neccessary but it worked) from black screen i boot into cwm ran superwipe loaded my rom which is revolver right from the rom flashable zip as a new install. then rebooted and back into cwm then restored my backup. not sure whats goin on or why it worked it may be overkill but i got back to my backup.
if you need better explaination just ask
So i would use super wipe lite or the normal one?

Use Super wipe lite if you want to keep SD card contents, but try the methods listed above before trying the latter .

Thank you to everyone ! It seems like i had to wipe everything and flash a clean install instead of my CWM backup. Thank you XDA community, you're the best !
Np, thank the others who really helped you

after i installed ics smoothie rom on my skyrocket, i have problem to shut down the phone or to restart. i have to pull of the battery to shut it down. I love the rom as it has no other problem other than this issue. anybody has same problem here?
What version of cwm are you using? I had the same problem and my older cwm was the cause. I flashed cwm touch found in the dev section with Odin wiped cache and dalvick cache and fixed permissions and it fixed my problem

Do what Gary says. That's the usual fix.

I got this while replying to a text message...
I've been getting quite alot of these, from even various applications. It's driving me nuts!!!!
Is there any (permanent) solution for this??
ROM: Gummy
Kernel version: 3.1.10_IcyGlitch_V14-BS_I896-I897 [email protected] #1
Baseband version: T959TLJL3
I'd be forever grateful if this problem could be solved... I really love this ROM
First I would reboot to recovery, then wipe cache, in advanced wipe dalvik cache, then fix permissions. If the problem comes back , I would back up your apps, msgs, that you want, then, wipe system, cache, wipe data/factory reset, and reflash. Maybe a newer rom.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using Tapatalk 2
This is a bug firmware, also sometimes a problem when using swap. I recommend flash newest ROM, they are much better.

I did the first thing you reommended, it didn't work and to make matters worse, ma phone doesn't pass the boot screen....
I quickly rebooted in recovery and made a nandroid backup - followed your second suggestion but i never made a backup of ma msgs because you didn't say so in the 1st suggestion... i can load new roms but can restore from ma nandroid backup
When you wipe dalvik cache, your phone can and will take several minutes to reboot, because it's rebuilding the dalvik cache. Secondly, wiping dalvik cache and fixing permissions wouldn't cause your phone to not boot. Between my wife's and my phone, I've flashed Roms, updated, experimented, fixed, stuff, etc... hundreds of times, and never has a dalvik cache wipe / fix permissions caused the phone to not boot. Hesitant to try to help, because you seem to be blaming me..... But if you can't restore a nandroid, it could be you're on a kernel in which the nandroid backup/restore feature doesn't work, you are running an earlier ICS build.

I'm sorry if i came across like that...
just that the phone is driving me nuts
ALSO.... it's the second time i am seeing where reboot take way longer than usual after restoring from a nandroid backup. I av done quite a few and reboot takes less than 10mins. I attempted one the other day and 2hrs 30mins later all i saw was the splash screen and boot animation, phone HOTT!!
This evening again, it looked as if it was going to do the same thing thing... it passed 20mins, i can't sit around waiting for that again
It sounds like a flash to stock KK4 (Full Reparation) would be your best bet. If you're already on G. B. bootloaders, I would recommend the NO BOOTLOADER version, no use flashing bootloader unnecessarily. After that, I would flash the rom of your choice, following the instructions in the O. P. line by line.
Maybe a lot more current rom.

Then I recommend re-flash the stock kk4 NO BOOTLOADER, format the internal sd, install the ROM again and install all the programs manually, not with the nandroid backup.

Noob with a drive to learn and in need of some help.
I attempted to install stable release of CM7 thru CWM on my rooted G2x, still stock everything, OS 2.3.4. Pre-install I backed-up current ROM, wipe data & cache and wipe dalvik cache. Rebooted into recovery and it looked as tho all was well... However, my phone wont go any further than the second "LG" boot logo, (I'm thinking is packaged in CM7). Nothing I've tried yet has fixed my situation. Not even allowing me to enter manual recovery so I can restore my back-up.
I'm hoping someone could please tell me what I did wrong? And also, what I can do to fix it?
Did you flash CWM using ROM Manager or NVflash?
If the answer isn't NVflash, you need to search the forum for that and use it. Then try to install a ROM

Since it's getting harder to find here is the link to the CWM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24087341
Follow the instructions there and you'll be good to go. It says XP but I have never had a problem on Windows 7.

I rooted my phone last night and all day today had horrible battery life (4 hours little usage) along with some what looked to be screen reboots. I only rooted phone did not install a rom nor any aps other than titanium. Any ideas why why this is happening and what I should do? Not new to rooting had an incredible that I spent many hours playing with.

Which method did you use to root your phone? There are several different ways to do it.
Have you checked your battery stats to see what is using your battery? Have you tried restarting your phone?
If restarting your phone doesn't solve your issues, you could install a custom recovery and then wipe your data, cache and dalvik-cache, and then install a new ROM which should solve any of your problems (much like your probably did on your Incredible). If you don't want to use a custom ROM, there are strock, rooted images available both for flashing through ODIN as well as flashing through Recovery.
I used the casual file method. Checked battery stats and nothing out of the ordinary. Also rebooted phone several times. I have a mac so I can't use Odin to go back to stock and try again. I also don't want to install a custom rom yet because I'm waiting for some bugs to be fixed on the synergy rom before I make that jump. My main reason for getting root was to freeze some apps in the meantime (haven't frozen any yet) and to enable the gps toggle switch on car dock via nfc which is working great.

Since I can't use Odin how would I go back to stock? Install the nandroid backup i made then unroot using casual? But before trying that do you think wiping dalvik might work? Strange that this is happening.

So you do have a custom recovery installed already? You don't need Odin as long as you have a custom recovery.
You can try clearing both your cache and dalvik-cache in recovery, and then reboot to see if it solves your problems.
If it doesn't, then backup and sync your data (wiping your data won't wipe your "internal sd card", but you will lose all of your system settings). UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER (search for ez-unlock on the market). Then put this on your sd card (or internal memory): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941334
Boot to recovery. Wipe data, cache, and dalvik-cache. Install that stock, rooted ROM. Reboot and reset up your phone settings.
i used the recovery that was suggested with the casual process. I think i might have fixed my issue i downloaded Rom Manager and reinstalled recovery and powered off my phone then removed battery and now the phone is smooth again but im still noticing that my battery is draining rather quick. This is very strange. Im thinking of unrooting and trying it all over again. I just need to find the original Verizon image.
