[Q] Windmobile Huawei u8651 (Astro / T-mobile Prism) - General Questions and Answers

Could someone please send me a message or reply in where I can find an original backup nandroid backup of the Windmobile Huawei u8651 or T-mobile Prism 2.3.
I was able to root the phone but forgot to do a nandroid backup in recovery before flashing another rom.

Wind Mobile u8651
The guide below will give you root access to your phone. Before you do anything make sure you back up all your photos, music and anything you might need. You will also need a SD card inside the phone.
- Download the file from this site: depositfiles com/files/83naetpa4
- Extract the file to a folder on your desktop
- Turn off your U8651 and take out the battery and reinsert it
- Hold on "Volume down" and "Power Button" for 15 seconds
- connect your U8651 to your computer, let system discover the device (not too worry if it fails)
- Go into the exact folder and double click on "Recovery.bat" This will install Clockworkmod 4.0
- When you're in the clockworkmod recovery the volume buttons are to toggle and the power button is to select.
In order to have a clean back up of your system you need to select "-wipe data/ factory reset" This will restore you phone to factory settings.
- Toggle down to "-backup and restore"
- Select "-backup" and follow the prompt
- This will create a nandroid backup image of your current system and will be saved on your sd card.
- transfer the contents of your backup to your desktop computer from /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
- zip backup folder and upload to a site, zippyshare.com or mediafire.com and forward it to me privately or on this link.
If I can get the backup nandroid I am willing to post more stuff I found off the net concerning this phone.

scented's directions worked for me. I had been trying with more recent versions of Clockworkmod discussed here but the download with version 4 in it worked. Thanks!

Anyone have crazypig's update.zip ?
Crazypig's file hosting site, depositfiles, is redirecting his updater.zip link (after making you wait 60sec) to a "connection refused" error ...
If anyone else has already downloaded the updater.zip and can help out, please let me know.

I found this as I was searching for the Prism U8651T and came across this info.
h t t p : / / a d b t o o l k i t . c o m / r o m s / s t o c k / h u a w e i / p r i s m / u 8 6 5 1
I downloaded it and extracted but does not show me the update file in it. I'm a bit of a noob and don't' know why its not there. Also I HAVE NOT yet tried to recover back to factory. I am still trying to research how to remove the CWM and place back to factory boot loader.
The main site I found this at is h t t p : / / a d b t o o l k i t . c o m

Backup rom

I have rooted my M2 and i made mistake and uninstalled some system apps. I fought wipe would help but instead that it is worst. I don't have maybe some app and after wipe i see only unlock screen and can't do anything. Also i can't get to system files because wipe turned-off debugging mode in usb connection.
So I need some backup rom(Europe/UK/DE) with original system applications and information how to restore it. It is possible?
you can use rsd lite and one of these firmware
http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
I used second from up because this link only works
It is DE beacause german is default, but i had just the same.
For others:
1. Power off phone
2. Up (on keyboard) + power button to open bootloader
3. Connect with usb cable
4. Start flashing
Thank you for help
The BRAZILIAN link is down. Error 404.
Someone knows where to download?
I just relised that in second rom buttons Y and Z are replaced so I found how to rapair it:
1. First you need root your phone ex. with z4root (go to google)
2. Install some manager with root acces ex. Super Manager
3.This is default file /system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl (for all devices) with key mapping but in my milestone 2 it was another with name umts_milestone2-keypad.kl
4.We have to replace Y and Z in this file.
5.ATTENTION!!! IF you copy file and then paste and raplace it with edited file it my have difrent acces permission so be sure that this file has rw-r--r-- If you dont set first rw like ---rwxrwx phone won't be able to read file and all buttons won't be working(bottom screen buttons too!!!, only power will work)ATTENTION!!! but don't wory i was be able to set permission without using any key but only screen
6.Reboot phone

Brain 2.2 Help

Nandroid >> Restore
Don't forgot to make a nandroid backup before in case of you want to go back to stock without flashing a sbf.
i m not getting u to restore nandroid i shld get option to select it i dont get tht option
It sounds like you may be in stock recovery. We have to use a bootstrapped recovery called openrecovery. After you have installed openrecovery you get to it by holding the volume up key during a normal boot.

For some reason your sdcard is not being mounted. I would check it out on a PC in a card reader.

so wht shld i do??? is der a problem with my sd card????
Reading your post, I think there is a step that was missed. Did you extract the openrecovery.zip? The extracted contents are what is in this folder sdcard/openrecovery.
Do you have this set up on your SD card?
Sdcard/openrecovery.zip
sdcard/openrecovery
sdcard/nandroid/openrecovery/<your ROM you want to restore>
**No spaces between**
Go to this thread and download and unzip this recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1242259) This is what we are all using now b/c of the customization that MZ put into it. Follow the directions.
Yes yes yes yes!!! U were right i missed tht step i got it working Thank u thank u
interesting...
Here is one more problem. I have installed this rom now after installation of this ROM i m getting an Error PLMN failed.
Check you APNs but IIRC the PLMN error didn't really matter. I saw it on Hellmonger's ROM. Might want to ask Linertymonger, I think he had a fix for that.

Alcatel Fierce 2 Stock Rom Backup

This is a backup of my Alcatel One Touch Fierce 2 after rooting and getting switched to SuperSU.
Supersu is a system app in this backup so if you manage to find a way to build a flashable update zip this is a rooted rom.
For now I have found these files to be a good resource for anyone trying to build a rom from source or to try to figure out how to get a flashable update zip,
You may also be able to copy files you need if you deleted something that you need to put back. I would be careful how you copy files to your phone as this is how i got my screwed up.
I copied files to my /system when my phone was running and it crashed me. Now i can boot into recovery but the phone wont boot up completely and it will not restore itself to factory defaults. I built a update zip out of these files but it will not flash from the recovery.
On update from SD card it does not find the update.zip, I have used adb sideload to the phone to send the update.zip and it sends ok but errors out and will not recover.
I get E: Footer is wrong
and E: Invalid signature.
Rejection from the recovery. It wants a Factory update.zip and no one has that yet. We could get one if somebody has a phone that is not updated yet and they download the update but capture the download before it runs the update. I think there are some post on how to capture a OTA update and copy it.
Anyway for what its worth the files are here and complete.
This backup was originally made by using Online Nandroid Backup.
I also have a copy of most of my system that i made with ADB.
I noticed that the nandroid backup did not get some files, I built a complete backup by copying the missing files from my ADB backup into the Nandroid backup.
Then i rezipped the files.
There a 2 different backups of the boot.img and recovery.img. one i made using flashify and the other by dumping the images in ADB.
These were the commands i used to dump the images.
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmcblk0p29 of=/storage/sdcard0/recovery.img
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmcblk0p7 of=/storage/sdcard0/boot.img
If someone with a rooted phone can dump the whole phone image that would be helpful.
I saw a thread before how to do it with one command but im not sure where its at now.
After you unzip any of these files be careful if you want to copy them anywhere. There are a lot of link files that will not get copied. So zip it fist to keep the links.
Right now all i need to do is figure out a way to flash the /system folder of this backup back to my phone to replace the current /system on the phone and i will be back in working condition.
If anyone has any ideas how to do this id appreciate some help.
Like i said I have created the Updater Script and Binary META-INF to make a update script but it wont flash.
The only backdoor i can find so far is the following.
If you power off phone completely
and then hold in the volume down key only
and then plug the phone in the computer
You will get a new device. Hold the vol down key until you get it.
If you have loaded the drivers from Alcatel for the one touch Fierce.
http://alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/support/faq/usbdriver.html
our drivers are the qualcom drivers.
You will get HS-USB Qloader 9008
it is in QDL mode or Download Mode.
From what i have read you can flash each partition or the whole emmc this way.
Im just not sure how. I dont know what Flash tool to use to interface with it.
I have all the mountpoint data for the partitions and the backups here.
Any ideas on how i can flash the /system partition only and restore my /system from this backup.
There is also a Titanium Backup of all the apps including SYSTEM apps

[FIX STOCK ROM] No Service & Sensors issue fixed in stock rom

Most of the moto e5 users have the same issue where after reverting back to stock rom from a custom rom, mobile data doesn't work, auto rotation doesn't work, it won't detect when you pick up your phone- and others... So these issues are related to sensors and connectivity. I found that my imei number gets lost in stock rom. Let's fix it and get our old Motorola back-
Before Starting
You have to backup certain things from a custom rom where everything (Data & Sensors) works fine-
You must use MT File Manager
1/ Boot into TWRP, click on backup, select storage- sd card, select FSG, EFS, PERSIST. Then swipe to backup.
2/ Open Mt file manager. Backup sensors folder from /mnt/ vendor/persists/sensors.
3/ Backup APN settings from /system/etc/apns-conf.xml.
Download & install stock ROM
1/ Download & install rescue and smart assistant tool from here
2/ Boot you mobile into fastboot mode and connect it with PC.
3/ Open rescue and smart assistant tool & it will detect your device.
4/ Rescue menu will automatically open up. Click on download button to start downloading the rom.
5/ After completing the download, open file explorer and find the stock rom zip that you downloaded. If you can't find it in RSA program files directory, simply search for it (You can search a keyword from the name that you saw while downloading the rom in RSA. For example- nora users can search "nora"). Then cut and paste it to a convenient directory. Extract the zip to folder name.
6/ Copy all files of platform-tools folder & paste them to the stock rom folder.
7/ Download the attached flash.zip file, extract it and move the bat file to stock rom folder.
8/ Make sure your device is connected to pc in fastboot mode. Then double click on the flash.bat file. It will take 5 to 10 minutes.
If you see no service on top then try the fixes. If one doesn't work, try the next-
Fix- 1
Boot into TWRP and restore FSG, EFS & PERSIST backup. Reboot.
Fix- 2
Open MT file manager. In your left side, Open the backed up sensors folder. In right side, Go inside /persist/sensors/. Then copy and replace the 3 files from left to right side. Reboot.
Fix- 3
Open MT file manager. In right side, go inside /system/etc/. Then copy and replace apns-conf.xml file from left side to right side. Reboot.

If it's not a development thread, why did you post in Development? You've been around long enough to know where this should go.

Ahh, my bad. It's a serious issue of stock rom for a long time. That's why I thought it should help people in the ROMs section. Anyways ..
