[Q] Random soft and hard reboots on any stock based gb rom? - Samsung Infuse 4G

So I went back to stock froyo and did a complete wipe of everything, even my sd cards. then I plugged into kies mini and updated to gingerbread, and about every time my phone went into standby mode after maybe 10 minutes it would do a soft reboot. I thought it might just be a problem with the stock rom, so I rooted and got a custom kernel, and I installed many different stock based gingerbread roms, all with the same effect. then, I tried cm7 and had NO PROBLEM with the reboots. also, I have no problems on any froyo roms or any aosp based roms. thanks for any help with this

Try using the one click to stock or the updated odin packages. Follow their instructions to the letter....

That didn't work either...

Reboots
I was running MIUI on my phone and had problems and took it to the local ATT repair shop and of course their solution was to clear out the phone and revert back to stock Gingerbread UCLB. It seemed to run well for awhile, but after about two weeks I started having random and multiple reboots too. I then odin'ed the rooted stock gingerbread (I believe posted by Entrophy) and loaded the RemICS 1.2a Rom. It seems much faster and smoother than the stock rom. We will see how it lasts. Does anyone seem to have problems with loaded Roms seeming to deteriorate after awhile? It seems like on both my Infuse and a Captivate that I have, the performance and stability seems to go bad over time...

Really messed up G2X

Well I ordered a G2X the other day and finally I received it. It came with Gingerbread 2.3.3 from the factory. (worked flawlessly) Keep reading.
After a couple days I wanted to try out CM7 on it. So, I rooted the phone by using NVflash and doing all that good stuff, then I flashed the phone with (Gingerbread OTA 2.3.3 Rooted flashable zip v1.0.0) I couldn't get root with SuperOneClick so that was my only option. Well I got root and that's when the fun started.
I installed CM7 on it, seemed to run fine, looked fine. But simple me, I wanted to go back to Plane jane 2.3.3 So, I did all the usual stuff (backing up, wiping data, formatting caches), then I ran OneClickRecoveryFlasher...and restored the phone with LG-P999-V10f.zip (supposedly a stock flash for 2.2.2)
well it all seemed to work fine apon finishing. It booted fine, ran ok. However now I have some really bad problems. The major one is that my wifi doesn't work worth a damn now, the connection is highly intermittent. I can't use the market to download apps because it dies out often, along with anything else network related. (browsing works 5% of the time) You catch my drift. My other android phones have no trouble with anything. Now here where it gets weird, I supposedly restored my phone back to stock. However, the phone reports a proper android version 2.2.2 which is what I flashed it to. However it shows kernel 2.6.32.9 Baseband is July 15th 2011. When I use LG's phone update tool it says I am running V21E which is Gingerbread 2.3.3 ...but that's not true because it is actually 2.2.2
I have no clue what to do, I am stuck. I just want to either have a stock G2X running either 2.2.2 or 2.3.3

You are probably going to have use Xboarders ROM then flash the unroot.zip he has in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158513.
See if that works to get you back to 2.3.3 completely stock.
It says that because it checks the baseband to see how recent it was, that's why it thinks you're on v21e.
As of now, there's no way to flash back to the old baseband, since people don't include the baseband in their ROMs, as that can cause a whole host of problems. The solution is to do exactly what tidewaterns said, that just gives you a little extra background info.
I am going to give this a try and see what happens, I will post results.
Well I tried the slimmed down version of Xboarders's rom and it seems to be working well so far. I originally installed his Stock OTA rom and that's when I started having problems. Oh well. thanks guys for all the help.
Crash course about root and roms: Superoneclick roots the rom you have in place. Flashing xboarders rom didn't "give you root" for the other roms you flashed, it is simply one rom out of many that is pre-rooted by the dev who packaged it up. When you flash it you have a rom that is rooted. If you had flashed CM7 (another rom that provides root access to its system files) then you'd have had a different rom that was pre-rooted by its dev.
Are you catching what I'm saying? Flashing xboarders rom didn't "give you root" any more than CM7 "gave you root." Root is built in to those roms.
If you want to restore to an unrooted stock rom browse the threads in the development section. There are a couple of stock nandroid backups posted that you can restore via clockworkmod recovery and then you'll have a stock unrooted rom. You can even do that and still have clockworkmod recovery in case you want to flash a different rom to your phone again.
And PLEASE remember when flashing from one rom to a different rom, WIPE WIPE WIPE data, cache, dalvik cache, then flash rom, then fix permissions, then reboot. This will save you SO MANY headaches.
G2X CM7
I learned something new Thanks for the info. And yes, this last time when I installed, I wiped and formatted just about everything I could possibly do, including fix permissions..seemed to do the trick.

Sweet! If you're simply updating to a newer version of the same rom you can probably get away with just wiping cache and dalvik cache and then flashing. Its just when you switch to a totally different rom that you need to do a full wipe. Gives you a clean slate to start with.
G2X CM7
I'm curious about one thing though. What would I accomplish by using Nandroid and flashing a bin? I see there is a BIN_LGP999AT-01-V10f-310-260-MAR-27-2011+0.zip file that is available for this phone, although I have no clue on how to install Nandroid. Anyways, wouldn't flashing a BIN be the ultimate way to restore the G2X?

[Q] 2.3.3 OTA reboot fix

So since the 2.3.3 OTA came out a few weeks ago my phone no longer randomly crashes, however im feeling the need to swap to one of the other many ROMs around here.
Did most ROMs change whatever was making the reboot bug happen? Is there a way to tell? or are they still plagued by the reboots i oh-so hated?
Note: I would get reboots everytime i used my phone for more than 15 min - it seemed to be heat related. after the OTA i have not gotten a single reboot. Hoping other roms work!~
I believe the issue is not with the rom but the LG drivers and baseband. So I believe you may have solved your problem. As far as other roms are concerned, the only way to tell which suits you best is trial/error method... Make a backup and flash away!
Update to this: I Tried Faux's ASOP ROM and to no avail, within 10 minutes I have a reboot Guess it'll be only OTA based roms for me!

[Q] Does anyone have the factory Sensation ROM?

I lost my backup of my original factory ROM, I tried the RC ICS ROM and it did not work. I had cyanogenmod 7.1 alpha running but now it is very unstable. I have a series problem where the phone options screen keeps randomly popping up, without me pressing the top power button. I would now like to revert back to the stock Sense 3.0 ROM that shipped with the Sensation. If anyone can help me I would so grateful as this is a super annoying problem to deal with.
I have Revolution, Clockmod Recovery and have tried multiple ROM's and find they all have some sort of bug
Another thing, the battery life has deteriorated to the point that I can not even get more than a half day of standby with a quarter of usage.
Please explain how I can get the factory ROM back on the phone with no bugs or issues. Thanks.
have you tried any other ICS ROM? majority of them are stock with minor tweaks,
insertcoin 4.3.1 is pretty stable
Click Me!
I know you'll probably do so already, but make sure you do a full wipe before flashing the stock ROM
I tried the RCmix ICS but when I installed it, all that happened was it kept popping up a dialog box non stop and was unable to use it so I reverted back to the Cyanogenmod 7.1
Can you please let me know where I can get this ROM, I will give it a shot.

ICS-based ROMs just turn off

Hi guys, please tell me what the heck I am doing wrong with ICS ROMs because I just feel powerless.
Tried some time ago OnceICS ROM (on 3.12 firmware), then switched to Virtuous Inquisition, then Virtuous Quattro (3.24 firmware) and now I'm on newest OnceICS on 3.24 unlocked firmware.
Every ROM change was dictated by the fact that my ROM kept turning off very randomly - on data transfer (I guess), after sending/receiving SMS, before/after phonecall - no rule, once it worked, another time I had like 10 turn offs per hour. Can't even do a logcat because it mostly happens when I'm out of home, where the signal can or is lower than at home (where I have full and barely no turn offs).
Every ROM change I hope this one gonna work but the problem still remains.
Sitting on supercid, did wipes, superwipes, fix permissions, battery wipe, no OC kernels, changed recovery to 4ext touch..
I flashed OnceICS yesterday I thought it is finally fine. But today it started rebooting like every before. probably today I will flash just once a sense rom like insertcoin, but I have no hope.
What is wrong with my phone? :\
insert-coin is not a de-sensed ROM
Did you by any chance restore data from a backup after flashing the ROM because this can often cause this sort of bugs
Whoops I meant "sense rom like insertcoin" because I tried roms with sense stripped out.
I do not restore data, I do titanium backup, sometimes use it to restore some apps but none of system stuff (contacts are synced by google, sms are restored by Go SMS Pro, everything else I configure on every reinstall). Like right now, I have plain OnceICS with only few apps installed from market but I had turn offs before I installed them too so I don't think they are the problem here :\
Maybe you should install a factory ROM first, to look if it solves your problem..?

Agreed, try a Gingerbread ROM then you can figure out whether it's an ICS problem alone or possibly hardware related.
Yeah I will probably install gingerbread :/ But, damn, ICS is awesome, I like it very much, especially the way it behaves and looks. It's sad I need to go back to gingerbread
Don't give up, if Gingerbread runs well, just try again (maybe another) ICS ROM.

It's a bummer but if it's a hardware fault best to find it and get it sorted IMO.
It was fine before I switched to ICS. But ok, tomorrow morining, gingerbread strike back. What's the best 2.3 ROM right now? Because there is quite a mess in "android development" forums because of ICS.

MR. Edge, first let me say I feel your pain I myself went through exactly what you are going through. I thought I was going to have to get a new phone. But then I found this Post:
http://media.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon2.gif
I know you said you did all these things but it wont hurt at this point to double check yourself and make sure everything is done correctly. I have had my sensation since June and have been rooted since july so I thought I knew everything there was to know about this phone. turns out I didnt lol and I still dont know what I missed but after I follwed this guide step by step I was able to load ARHD 6.1 without any issues. I have been auto off free for 3 days and counting.
and if that dosent work you can still go back to GB and ARHD has a nice rom for that as well. Good Luck

I'm on 3.12 F/W and happily run Virtuous Inquisition (or Quattro) and CM7 on the phone.
All the ICS based ROMs are a bit un-stable as they're based on un-released binaries from HTC. As you might tell from the ROMs I listed I'm more into AOSP based ones than Sense ones.
The battery life I have now is better than ever, TBH not certain if that's ICS, Radio or F/W.

For AOSP ROM , I suggest Virtuous Inquisition till CM official released for sensation...
Thanks for answers, I gave up for now, switched to 1.17 fw and cm7. I miss ICS
So far it works fine but not as smooth as ICS. But the most I miss rotation animation
Jesus, what is going on :\ I'm on CM7 right now and it can turn off as well :\ Tomorrow I will install stock rom... Before I started playing with ICS everything was fine, no turn offs :\
If I were in your shoes I would reflash the RUU for your device and rule out a hardware failure. Not to mention if anything is left over from all of your flashes it can lead to problems. Just start over, don't ask for help and then be stubborn about the suggested solutions.
OK I will do so
I was about to post a thread but google pointed me here. I have the EXACT same problem as you do Cliff. I highly doubt it is caused by hardware, and as Tez recommended I followed that guide verbatim. Still having problems. It's so frustrating because I LOVE ICS.
Right now I'm on stock ROM, dedicated to my phone (rubbish Orange PL branding etc.), rooted it just to restore some games.
and it still can turn off from time to time :\ I've had no such issue before trying ICS. Dunno what else I can do.
For me, it's starting to seem more and more like the battery stats are way off. But no matter how many times I wipe them and try to re-calibrate, it still gets way off within a day or two.
Cliff, did your percentages jump around each time you turned your phone back on?
I have these problems too !! I'm going to s off and send to HTC

[Q] Strange Battery Drain, Low Cell Signal, and Very Warm Device

I've had my S3 for about 3-4 months or so, and I've recently been having this problem.
The day I got it I rooted it and everything was going good, battery wasn't amazing, but definitely reasonable.
After the boot loader was unlocked, I unlocked it with the EZ unlock in the Play Store.
I then loaded up Synergy r50 (nightly at the time) and everything seemed improved.
Anyways, I have since then loaded Paranoid Android, CM10, Beans, and Incubus' Jellywiz.
I went to Beans after Synergy, everything was still fine, then I loaded up Jellywiz RLS7 for a day, and it ran extremely warm and I was dropping
a percentage of my battery every 2 minutes. I nandroided back to Beans, and had the overheat and battery drain problem on that too. I wiped everything and went to Synergy (newest nightly, forgot the number) (edit: added the ktoonsez kernel after many FC's) and the problem still exists. I'm also getting horrible cell signal (not 4g, 4g is fine) at my school where it used to be perfectly fine. Anyone know what I could possibly do besides returning it? I already used Odin to go back to the latest non-leaked stock, and it's still doing it. Thank you very much.
TL;DR: After flashing multiple roms, then flashing Jellywiz, my phone runs much too hot for comfort, borderline burning, battery life goes fast, and I get next to no signal at my school.
Thanks again for any help!

Did you try to odin back to Stock, get the new OTA and maybe odin the leaked radio on top? I'd give it a try and see how it works out for you 1-2 days. People are reporting better single with the leaked radio. You flashed a lot of stuff in a very short time and you missed the latest official radio from the G7 OTA.
If you still have issues return the phone to VZW. If not DebugFS, EZ Unlock (make sure to use version 1.2 from rootzwiki) and EZ recovery again. Make a clean Nandroid and go back to your favorite ROM.
All the downloads you need can be found in droidstyle's sticky in devel.

Thank you very much! I just finished installing the OTA and I'm about to flash the leaked radio through Odin.
I'll post back in a few days or so in case this doesn't end up working or if any one else is having this issue and doesn't want to post (much like I was until I realized I can't stand the issues I was having)
Hopefully this works, thanks again!
(If anyone else has any other remedies for this, would be nice to post just in case this doesn't work, thank you)

you are welcome,
by the way - try to avoid Jelly Bean ROMs like CM10 or AOKP. They all have issues with the RIL and we have to wait for someone to figure out a fix or an official JB TouchWiz leak.
