[Q] Bad mobile network signal causes phone to be awake? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed that my phone is awake more often when the mobile network signal is not green!
I thought this mobile network is handled by the Radio and should not have anything to do with the ROM, but it seems like I am very wrong.
Can see clearly from the graph that the battery drain is very minimal when the network signal is green and plunges when its yellow, the phone is awake more often as well, which might explains why.

Will try with 2G.

Your phone may be waking because it is trying to obtain a better quality signal. Also if you were driving on a highway, the radio will drain more battery because it will be disconnecting and connecting to new radio towers very often.

[Q] CM10 Data Drop Issues?

Hello there! I've been using CM10 for a while now, but I've been having quite a few issues with data drop. It comes in and out. Currently, Verizon does not have LTE in my area, just 3G. Randomly (but QUITE often) I lose my data connection. I'm not sure if it's due to upgrading to LTE in the area, or if it's something to do with the phone itself, but I'll still have signal and no data. It'll drop anywhere at anytime. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with CM or what. It occurs also no matter what setting I have the radio set to. Either LTE/CDMA/EVDO or CDMA/EVDO both still drops.
Current version of CM is CM-10-20121118-NIGHTLY
Is there anything I may be able to try so I can fix this issue?
This is my signal majority of the time...

2G - better call performance?

Hi,
I've been having issues with my mobile provider - there's been a sudden increase in loss of connectivity (i.e Emergency Calls Only showing) when I'm at home.
One of the suggestions they made was to try switching to 2G Network Only when I'm at home because the 2G frequency has a better chance of penetrating my house walls etc and mean I am less likely to miss calls.
Is this true?
I've set a Tasker script to switch to 2G only when I'm connected to my home wifi ssid.
This is the end result:

They've confirmed that should work but can you xda experts provide me with verification/more info?
I'm concerned with call quality too - will 2G make any difference to call quality?

[Q] Mobile and GPS hardware issues

I am currently experiencing hardware issues concerning my mobile signal and GPS tracking. I believe this is a hardware issue rather than a software one, since it occurred after I had dropped the phone from 1.6m up onto concrete. I have also tried other networks with the phone which also do not appear to work. I then disassembled my disassembled nexus but I didn't notice any cracks in the antenna, so I'm stuck as to where to look next. Any suggestions would be helpful, or any ideas as to what piece of hardware may need replacing (wire, controller etc)
Below is an image of my mobile signal before and after the drop

Wifi issues

Hi all,
I've got two wifi networks set up at home. One in my room and one in the kitchen. But everytime I get home and turn on the wifi on my phone while I'm in my room, it automatically connects to the kitchen wifi and vice versa. I've tried turning on the option to avoid networks with low signals, but then it just stays disconnected instead of connecting to the network with the stronger signal. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
TIA
Hi there,
This phone apparently has the WORST wifi of all smart phones for the past 2.5 years. Read review below:

WI-FI on Battery Usage Graph

Searched around but didn't seem to find this specific issue in the forums.
My android marshmallow phone sometimes disconnect from wifi when screen is off and come back when screen is on despite the "keep wifi on during sleep" set to “always"
battery optimization is off.

Troubleshooting this issue with battery statistics i found out that during the disconnect period there’s a gap (red arrow on screenshot) then when screen is on and wifi auto-reconnects, the line returns.
I’m having hard time understand how this stat is triggered and having an insight about it.
During this gap is it possible that the wifi supplicant crash somehow with Access Point and then turn the wifi radio off or does it simply represent that wifi radio is disabled by something ?
