everytime i try to install from sd card, it then gets lost and cannot read it. i was using sky ics.

That recovery doesnt work as far as I remember

is there a solution? one that does a hard wipe and fresh install?
the problem lies somewhere in the cache...

Yeah it's the same procedure as flashing a stock firmware.
Just make sure you place the tar in PDA and DO NOT check repartition!!!!!!!!
There are instructions in the thread I linked, though

It is working!!! Thanks a bunch!!!

Try 4ext or twrp recovery. Never liked clockworkmod on any of my devices.

Ditto, its not very convenient to use and is just flat out ugly compared to the other recoveries out now.
I recently switched to 4ext too. Much better I have to admit.
GOT it
After i "rooted" i gave my buddy back the phone and he went home and connected to his p/c ..opened the S.D. card and deleted files...well he deleted "cockworkmod" so i had to reinstall ...all is good now thank you guys for the replies....
I switched to 4ext as well. It is a much better recovery than clockworkmod in my opinion

4ext is the best recovery we have available. The new twrp 2.1 needs some work, and CWM has a poor interface and is poorly maintained in comparison.

CWM 5.0.2.8 Question

I installed AntonX's SGS4G Kernel with a Twist v1.1.3 which includes CWM. At first CWM was red (which I understand is the latest version. Then today I booted into CWM and the text was light blue. It still said v5.2.0.8 but I just thought it was weird. Did something go wrong or anything?
Also tried to flash a modded GB ROM and it came back with this:
ROM-sms-T959V-GB2.3.6-AntonX.1.1.3.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: Can't open /sdcard/SGS4G Development/ROMs/ROM-sms-T959V-GB2.3.6-AntonX.1.1.3.zip (bad)
Installation aborted
Any help?
Thanks.

Something got messed up. Kernel 1.13 includes cwm blue. Was that the error you got when you were trying to install a different rom?

Could be a bad download, but you might also want to just keep the zip file in the root of the sdcard.
CWM might have a problem with that directory with a space in it! (not unix friendly!)
Your so smart bhundven I didn't even think about the directory.

Oh I didn't know 1.1.3 comes with CWM blue. Because I had AntonX's previous kernel (same kernel, previous version) and it had the red CWM, which I thought was the latest and/or best CWM (even though I'm pretty sure both are v5.0.2.8). Not true (that red is better)?
But no that's not the error I got, it was this:
ROM-sms-T959V-GB2.3.6-antsvx.1.1.3.zip
--Installing: /sdcard/SGS4G Development/ROMs/ROM-sms-T959V-GB2.3.6-antsvx.1.1.3.zip

That's what CWM said when I tried to flash the ROM.

Ok, so you are on the newer 1.1.3? or you are still having problems flashing.
Like I said before, directory names with spaces in them are bad. This is why cwm is failing to open the zip file.
Please either, change the space to an underscore '_' or move the zip file to the root of the sdcard.

Stuck in a bootloop

[Deleted]
johnfocker said:
Hello everybody!
I'm posting today cause I got stuck in a bootloop when trying to factory reset from a freshly flashed Asus stock rom.
I was previously tinkering with cynaogenmod installs when I found myself facing those kind of errors:
Code:
E: Can't mount / cache/recovery/command
E: Can't mount / cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open / cache/recovery/log
E: Can't mount / cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open / cache/recovery/last_log
Since I was unable to flash anything from that point via recovery, I flashed the latest asus stock rom via fastboot and the tablet booted again.
Then I flashed CWM recovery to be able to flash CM11 again but I got the "Can't mount" errors again so I booted the tablet on the stock rom and tried a "Factory reset" from the Settings menu...
Now I'm stuck on this nice screen and everytime I try to coldboot the tablet I'm unable to access fastboot anymore... It boots directly to that screen and never gets past it!

You should NEVER use the "Wipe Data" option from the bootloader or factory reset from Settings with a custom recovery installed! Any kind of wipe or format can and should be done from recovery.
But don't worry - you'll be fine.
The factory reset command starts the recovery and asks it to wipe the data partition. And you keep interrupting it. I've seen your scenario a number of times. Connect your tablet to a power source and let it do it's thing. Go to bed. Sleep over it. The next morning it'll most likely be finished.
And before you flash anything else, check your bootloader and recovery versions. Most likely one or both are incompatible with CM 11 or each other.
I've done the exact same thing, was in a hurry and wasn't thinking... I never usually do a factory reset from settings, I don't know what I was at. I hope your right and it will come on eventually. I can't boot to Recovery I can't boot to fastboot, nothing works... Its a nice brick at the moment. Did you ever get this sorted?

[Q] Cannot install the new OTA

Hello, I got a notification that the new OTA update was available for the OPO. So I downloaded it and clicked on install, the phone rebooted and it began normally with the icon of installing the update, but on the first quarter it rebooted to the Cyanogenmod simple recovery and showed an error which I will type here. Furthermore it's worth mentioning that I rooted my phone, with TWRP.
The error:

As long as you can not post in the ROM thread, you should post your question in the Legacy & Low Activity Devices > Samsung Galaxy Mini > Galaxy Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Hopefully you will get proper help there :fingers-crossed:
Could be differnt things, such as corrupt download, wrong ROM for your device, wrong recovery version, etc.
As I don't have your device and no experience with the ROM, you might get some helpful ideas in the forum I linked above.
EDIT:
As my friend @KJ has recognized, you've already posted your issue in Q&A of your device specific forum. So there's nothing we can do for you here at Assist.
We're not here for support or troubleshooting, just help navigating the site.... And you already figured out where to post.
You'll have to be patient and wait for replies.
Good luck!
