I first used the one click method to originally put a custom rom on my skyrocket. I used the I727UCLE2_OneClick-5FCC9DECF4915ED1C0CD7F42799C3783.exe file, and it worked great. Then, I followed the instructions for the "SKY-ICS 4.2F-4.5 (UXCLF3 Base) 6/25/12 OFFICIAL (4.0.4) ICS AT&T/ROGERS SAFE" rom. I followed them to a T. The phone reboot, everything looked great.
Only, my phone now says to insert a sim card.
I dial *#06*, and it says IMEI null/null
I've searched and looked at numerous threads, but I couldn't find any that helped me.

Please help.

First I tried the stock at&t kj2, then I tried ICS UCLF5.
There is a fix for that... but first try to shut down and pull battery, sim and sd card for a while.
I now know how important the efs folder is... you know, that folder that's now missing all those files on my skyrocket.
We live, make mistakes, and learn from those mistakes.

I did, for 15 minutes.
I chickened out and restored it to the factory firmware using kies, and it fixed it. Where did I go wrong? I probably used the wrong radio file. I'm still learning. What one should I choose for at&t lte on my skyrocket?
... and next time, I'll backup my efs folder BEFORE i do anything like this.

I have used all the ics radios. UCLF5 seems best for my area. ruxlf3 was pretty good as well.

I don't want to get too far off topic on this post, but what exactly is the difference between all the different radio files? Perhaps there's a thread that explains this.
All is well now. I followed the steps again, and it worked this time. I used the ICS UCLF5 radio, and my lte fired right up!
Thank you for your help!

Some work better than others depending on your physical location. They are all leaked, except the Rogers one which is official.

Good to know. Thank you.
I'm having a similar problem. After getting my stock Skyrocket I installed the one-click UCALC4 that I had read about from the sticky. Shortly after, I have no 4g or mms and the phone doesn't see the sim card, but I can still see my phone number and IMEI.
Everything works fine when I turn on the phone, but after about 30 seconds the icon at the top turns into a circle with a slash. Occasionally after booting it will work for a few hours but not often.
After flashing different radios and trying to revert to a stock 2.3.6 the problem persists. Eventually I installed the one-click UCLE5 ICS and it worked fine for all morning until I left for work and while I could make calls, neither party could hear the other. I got into my voicemail once but after that I had the same problem as above.
Right now I rebooted a couple of times and it has been working fine for about three hours. I keep trying to produce the symptom but no luck.

So we all know not to touch the toggle in CM7 for 2G/3G, I personally found that out the hard way, but I read that you could do it through settings, well now that I tried that, it's even worse. I have reset the phone/changed radios/roms, had my sim card repushed 3 times now, off and on 20 times, nothing will get this #*@#ing phone to find telus again... WTF. anyways, its going back maybe this thing is glitched?
Alright, new phone. SIM card is the same from my other phone, and it's working fine, so there was a serious malfunction in the other one, not sure if it was because of cyanogen or the radio.
Does anyone know how to back up the stock radio?

+1 if you can back up that radio id like a copy pleasee...since there is no official rom for our phones yet Im so scared before trying anything, but I make the jump after hours of reading up lol.
after lots of reading and posting questions, I think we (as in with cdn i9020a) should play the safe card for now and only go as far as rooting and installing superuser. obviously all these custom roms are based on US versions of NS.

Yeah, it's definitely safer, but never as much fun
The phone is fairly new so it will take a bit, things will get better. I just want to make sure I post anything that I find really screws things up, so no one else has to learn the hard way. The kernel and rom seem to be fine, it's the radio that I'm wondering about, and don't touch that gd 2g button, what a pain in the nut sack that is.
Doesn't android backup the radio? Couldn't we extract the radio from a nandroid backup?

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a little help here. My Skyrocket seems to be having radio/modem issues.
Instead of having a symbol that displays cell signal, I have a circle with a line through it. This is true with or without a working SIM inserted. For baseband version it says "unknown".
I've tried flashing to stock and that didn't seem to make a difference. I got this phone second hand so I don't know if the previous owner tried to flash an incompatible rom and borked up the radio firmware possibly?
Any thoughts about what I can try?
That all depends on which method and tar you used. Some tars dont come with the radio. and with the wrong radio on a rom you will get a RIL mismatch and no signal

So I'm unsure how it got to its current state. (meaning the circle with a line through it) To return to stock I used the K0nane tar that's in the sticky in the dev section. I don't know if that has a radio in it or not but flashing that didn't seem to change things.

That doesn't have a radio in it. Look in your "about phone" and tell me what your baseband and android version says.
After that I will probably say to flash the sammobile tar...
Also, Did you have the correct plan added to your service when you switched phones?

Right..
Assuming your plan has been provisioned for the new lte phone, I would flash the sammobile tar in odin
I'm going to give that a try. I suppose I'll just search for sammobile?
The SIM i'm using was provisioned for my previous Skyrocket. I ended up trading that but used the same sim in my new phone. So, I'm assuming the SIM/my account should be proivisioned for LTE since I never had AT&T change anything on their end.
And just to clarify, this doesn't really seem to be a "no service" type problem since its as if the radio isn't even recognized by the hardware.

Right, seems to be a ril mismatch.
Factory reset and then flash the sammobile tar

Lol, I appreciate the helpful info in your reply. Just so you know, I don't seem to be having the same issue as any other post that I've seen. Unlike the other posts I've read, I don't have "no sim" or no signal, or no LTE. My problem almost seems like an issue with the SIM slot itself. I think I can rule that out because I've actually replaced the SIM slot with a known good SIM slot. The other reason I think I can rule this out is because I am unable to access the radio related content from within the service menu. Unfortunately I don't think there will be a :oof:: that fixes what I have going on. (I wouldn't mind being wrong on this)
So I flashed the sammobile tar (multiple times) but no luck. The baseband version still reports as "unknown". What's more, my phone reboots after about 15 or 20 seconds. Very odd. Any other thoughts on things to try?

I flashed EFSFix through CWM and then SAMMOBILE tar through ODIN. No luck, but ODIN did take about twice as long as it did the first time I tried flashing the sam .tar. Same symptoms, circle with a line through it and phone reboots itself after about 20 seconds. The baseband version still reports as "unknown".
I flashed back to stock through ODIN, flashed CWM with ODIN, and then flashed EFSFix again. Same exact results as the first time.
Next I flashed back to stock using ODIN, and flashed UCLE2 ROM through ODIN. Flashing this causes the reboot issue to go away, but the radio issue remains. (I thought to try the UCLE2 ROM because that's what was loaded when I first received the phone and the phone wasn't rebooting itself then)
Hi,
I'm trying to find specifically the right radio for rogers, for the infuse 4g.
I checked the "please have a look @ those threads b4 start new one" and none are related.
I've seen the full list of basebands, they look amazing, all those letters and numbers. But I have NO clue how to interpret which one is which. And i'm sure someone here will slap me a picard facepalm... ascii style... Or equivilant... maybe even a twihard facepalm...
However, i'm kinda needing this radio...asap... as I have no working radio on the infuse4g and its for work... the simcard does work in a sony erricson x1... 3g at least.. and that is for work, but I need the new one working asap...
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I don't just want to try every single one... and test radio range... etc... I'm needing kinda to get this perma working, immediately...

Trying it now, hopefully I get something, and i'm redoing the apns fresh hopefully that fixes it.... oi...
After some testing, it clearly still didn't work... I found out the why...
From my personal gnex, I threw its sim into the phone, and voila...signal... Problem isn't entirely the modem (more of identifying which is better). I even tried a gnex modem... (not kidding, it worked... oddly?).
Basically seems my corporate account messed up things.. and I can't fix it until tuesday 6am my time (canada holiday weekend...yay)
Thank you ALL for the support thoroughly.
I have a Rogers Infuse 4G and it I don't think I did any official updates to it. It had UXKG3; I just finished flashing up to CM10 and am now using UCLB3 which I think may have some signal issues for me out here but still in the process of testing.
I did a full backup using CWM as well as backing up my EFS... I don't know if that was before or after my modem changed, but if the UXKG3 modem isn't available online and you can tell me how I can "rip" it out of my backup files, I'll surely provide it to you since I too am thinking of going back to it if it turns out UCLB3 isn't doing too well.
I have seen posts that other people are having trouble switching modems on cm10, maybe it could be done with 7 zip before you flash. Also you need to hit menu button then select save then reboot after changing APN.
The problem flashing modems on CM10 are fixed... it was because of a new filesystem format for the /radio mountpoint and a different method of flashing the new modem. There are some modem threads here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31097259
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342978
with working modems you can flash from CWM (I tried one earlier, worked perfectly).
First off Im new here. Well I haven't posted on xda before, but I've spent enough time reading.... anyway, have an vzsgs3 cwmr bootldr unlocked flashed taste of beans... then wiped flashed slimrom and then nandroid'D stock over that.got the wonderful nonvzw triangle of death.... after that I flashed stock root66 via Odin. Lost my imei in that whole process. Didn't have it backed up either.went through pretty much every post that related to the sgs 3 and imei. Now I have a 4g ONLY device.I also found out that you cannot make or receive calls on 4g and the tower negotiation/propagation takes place over the cdma network. If I restart my phone every time I move to a different tower I can use it on 4g to surf the web. No call or texts ever. If I leave the range of a tower, I get a /0 slash zero for reception. Reboot and 4g is back. This is strictly 4g ONLY.it will not and cannot connect to the mobile network .try to dial out, error: mobile network not available. Factory reset several times. Phone is back to oob stock. I would be tempted to say there is something mucked up in the nv rf items. By flashing and resetting, it would set everything back to stock except the radio FW. Switched Sims with a working one... same. Imei is fixed, about status shows it correct as well as the correct phone number and everything else. Where should I go from here.? Let me know what info u need and ill post it.thx!

As for your phone, the imei has been restored but the phone is still borked? Did you odin back to stock after all those issues? That would have reflashed your modem. Did you check the md5 on the crap you flashed too?

I would odin back to stock if that doesn't work. Try to instal one of these basebands from the link. I'm pretty sure flashing stock with odin does thatthough. I'm a noob but that is my best guess. Good luck.
There is a tool on here that you can fix your IMEI with, if you haven't already. I would try to reprovision the SIM if you have done everything else.

Since I do not have enough posts to ask on the developers thread, I was wondering what modems i could flash on SlimKat because i have not been able to send long texts. I tried using both the padded modems for newer roms as well as the GB/Froyo modems and i wouldnt get any signal at all and it said that the baseband version was unknown when trying to flash either. Any ideas?
You're in the right forum -- the development forums are generally reserved for active development, not questions about how to use what has been developed. We're a little "sloppy" here because the SGS4G community has gotten a lot smaller in the past few years, but still a good habit to get used to.
@FBis251 maintains a repository of modems, padded for the various ROMs.
Try the various ones and see what works well for you.

Thanks! I tried all of the modems except for the cm7 but when i get more time or when i get frustrated with not being able to send long texts i guess i know where to look.
So i tried all different types of modems and no matter what i would get "unknown" for the baseband version and i would not get signal.

When i reflash the rom (which recovers the modem to kj6) then i would would get signal again so i take it that my imei numbers are still intact. I also have used odin to flash modems before and it always worked with the kj6 rom (with any other modem).

I would suggest using recovery (TWRP or CWM) to flash the padded modem file, less room for error. I use the KJ5 Modem which works for me, had the same issue with long texts on KJ6.
I did try it at least twice on TWRP with the same results... Were you on SlimKat/BeanStalk(4.4.2)?

Yes, Slimkat. Flash the ROM. Then go back to recovery and flash the modem file of your choice. You should be able to then confirm in your Settings-> Status screen. You should see the baseband change, if not there is something wrong.

Did you check to see if there is anything under your APN... Settings>mobile networks>Access Point Names...maybe add it manually if there is nothing there.

Had the same thing happen to me. Kept asking and received the answer that worked for me. Just make sure your CWM or TWRP recovery images are updated to the very latest. Should work. Been testing modems back and forth for a couple days now. Still getting sudden signal drops though. I wondering if T-Mobiles update to their towers isn't compatible with our hardware. Seems coincidental that many had this problem start right around that time. Trying to force us to upgrade devices tailored to their services provided...haha anyways...I'll stop ranting now

Just use a file manager to copy the modem.bin file to /radio/
I tried flashing from TWRP and got the unknown baseband error as well. Manually copied it over and all is well now.
The modem installer zips were written for ICS roms. They might have worked on some JellyBean roms but I definitely never tested them on KitKat. @Dwack has the right method for this though, copying by hand should work fine since that's all the .zip files do.
