Is there an alternate method to get s-off on hboot 1.27 that does not require the paper clip method?
There's the wire method, but that's the same thing only you use a wire instead of a paper clip. So basically, no .
Damn... had to swap out my sensation and the one I got back has hboot 1.27 but the wire trick kind of worries me.

Hi,
There is nothing to worry about the wire method.
It is just about timing.
Click on the link in my signature, where there are several s-off guides.

I am on InsertCoin ROM and I would like to know if I can update my HBOOT from 1.17 to 1.18.
Is this possible or there is not 1.18 (revolutionary) hacked ?
Revolutionary actually downgrades your from 1.18 to it's hacked 1.17, so upgrading to 1.18 is useless.
Also, why do you want 1.18 since you won't actually benifit/experience anything from it?

Thanx for the immediate answer. I just like flashing and updating.
So in conclusion there is no way of updating to 1.18 HBOOT (hacked of course).

Yeah, if you want fastboot commands, stay on either revolutionary hboot or Eng hboot.

ENG HBOOT is on version 1.18.1111 I think, isn 't it? Is there an .img file that I can place in SD and can autoupdate when I boot into bootloader? I searched the forum but I did not find that.
Thanx again for your answers.

Again, why flash a newer bootloader if there is NOTHING to gain from it, risking the possibility of hard bricking your phone, and with pointless "fixes" that are only to undo what revolutionary did?
Its jot an update in any way, shape, or form, and increases your possibility of a hard brick for zero gain.

To S-OFF use Juopunutbear S-OFF method. Read and follow this detailed guide.
Thats not revolutionary...
Atm revolutionary doesnt support this version of hboot.

It is possible i already did it one time when i recovered the phone with the 1.45 RUU starting from a Android 4.0.3 based custom rom, it's a bit twisted process but not that hard
I know its possible with s-off. But with stock, unrooted ICS iT's not..

Hi, I have a XE and I want to see if I can S-Off/root it. (Without HTCDev, as that wouldn't work, and no Juopunutbear because I don't want to do anything too messy.)
My HBOOT reads as fallows:
*** LOCKED ***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.27.0000
eMMc-boot
Jan 13 2012, 17:33:34
Any help?
Also, I'm good with rooting/S-off and can get my way through adb.
Try this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
This is what I get when I run Revolutionary:
Found your device: HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e (pyramid-1.27.0000, A
ndroid: 4.0.3, ROM version: 3.32.206.112)
Your device: pyramid, with HBOOT 1.27.0000 is not supported at this time.
Press (almost) any key to exit.

Mostly because I just got this one under warranty from HTC because my last one got hard bricked, and I don't wanna screw it up again
Hey,
There is only one method for you, & that is JuopunutBear with temporary root.
If not for this method, there is nothing else.
You will find it very hard to do the wire trick because your bootloader cannot be unlocked; if you can come to the JuopunutBear Support Channel (Link in signature), we can help you out.
Unfortunatly there are not many solutions for rooting with that hboot at this time.however many people have been successful at using junoptobears method. However if your not comfortable with it than don't do it. You must be comfortable in the method you use. Revolutionary does not support that Hboot as of now but who knows in the future they might.looks like your options are quite narrow if you want to root right now. Perhaps someone knows of another way around this. If not I would read the guide and try to become more comfortable with your options. It just depends on how important it is to you to be able to be rooted. If its important than read up and hopefully you will soon be more comfortable with the wire trick. Whatever you decide I wish you the best...

Not much options I would say:
- downgrade the phone and use Revolutionary
- stay on ICS and use Juopunutbear S-OFF (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631)
There's basically no other way than using juopunutbear S OFF . I've S OFF my sensation using juopunutbear method and I've gotten about 6x to get the wire trick succesful

+1 on juopunutbear S OFF
I was on the same boat roughly 2 weeks ago, and must say that even though it sounded a bit shady, the juopunutbear method worked flawlessly for me.
Good luck!
Hi everyone
This is a little guide for noob on how to do a wire to do the Juopunutbear S-OFF wire trick!
*** You can use a Paper Clip or the wire made in this Guide ***
Step 1: Take a cable that you don't use anymore (anyone). Cut the extremity of the cable!
Step 2: Removing insulation surrounding the wire. Take a knife or scissors and remove the isolation.
Step 3: Removing the wire of the insulation.
Step 4: Remove the extremity of the insulation surrounding the real wire!
Step 5: Twist the wire extremity!
You are done ! Have an nice S-OFF time
Well it's useful, but maybe you could have had it added on to the OP of the juopunut bear threads instead of making this one where it will be lost and buried.

More or less it's a kind of timed double reset, that is used to do the exploit for deleting the security flag.
