Hi, recently i have installed one of the latest android builds on my HTC HD2 mobile phone, i love it, works perfect and use it everyday rather than windows mobile.
One of the main reasons i turned my phone into an android device was the excitement in seeing people over youtube etc running games from gameloft on their htc hd2 devices such as N.O.V.A and Modern Combat etc FPS games with really cool graphics.
However, i am facing one big problem.
Every single game i have downloaded made for android from gameloft, either downloaded or purchased directly from their site, all seem to install fine, but then everytime i go to run the game, it opens and straight away says it needs to download additional data to run the game. Everytime it does this and finishes downloading, i tap to run the games and the game crashed back to the home screen.
I have tested about 8 android games now from them and all 8 have done the same thing, asked for additional data and then crashes when tryin to run the game.
I see they run fine on htc desire etc running android but im really miffed off and absolutely confused why my htc hd2 running froyo 2.2 android build aint able to play these games. Even after following correct instruction as to placing the game in the correct folder on sd card, install in airplace mode etc blah blah.
Really wanna get N.O.V.A and Modern Combat: Sandstorm working on my mobile.
Please help
Willing to make a reasonable donation to whoever can help get these working for me, I dont know if i need a specific android build or maybe some sort of android patch or game validator or some tool im missing????
bumppppp
I might be wrong here, but my guess is that the GPU doesn't work the same way as it would natively if it were on any other native Android device.
I have a Droid 2 Global and the HD2 running AA on SD. Simple games requiring some extra GPU power(Flick Kick for example), play clean, no lag, no distortion on my Droid 2 Global but have poor laggy graphics on the HD2.
If you really want to play those games, you should just get a native Android phone.

nah, the GPU isn't the problem. It has adreno 200 which is same as HTC desire and it runs all the games fine. It can be the problem of ram. How did you install android on it? Is it running windows mobile in the background? if yes, then lack of ram is likely to be your problem and that's why you get a crash...

I do realize that the GPU is good enough to power those games, but are the resources for the GPU allocated the same way that they would if Android was being run on an Android Native device?
I have American Android(03/20/11) installed on SD and I show a good 190MB of RAM if not more. I am currently download the data files of Modern Combat 2 HD to my HD2 and will post my results back.
Now that I think about it, I do have SpeedX 3D that runs fine. Could it be the OP's current setup that is preventing something from working fine? Are you installing directly to SD? Move back to phone and leave data to SD. Then try again...
hey,...i also using htc hd 2 hyperdroid rom..its works fine.i installed HAWAX its work fines
I just installed Modern Combat 2 HD from Gameloft and it works just fine. Rendering of GFX, everything.
There's most likely something in your configuration(ROM, Apps installed, etc...) that is causing this issue.
Off to play some Modern Combat 2 HD
My HD2 plays all the games I want. I installed asphalt 5 and Skies of Glory last week and they work perfectly. Have you tried a new firmware? I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.1.
LOL! Same problem on my Galaxy S. Only Assassin's Creed works Nicely.
The rest just crash to the main screen after downloading the additional data! Running Android 2.3.3...
If you bought the games they won't crash since they are all up to date and very compatible with GB 2.3.3. If you are using warez, that is one good reason why they crash.
Gameloft also connects to verify authenticity. If you game isn't very authentic, that is another reason.

Which android version did you buy/DL to be able to run correctly on the HD2? I'm thinking about buying a couple games from gameloft but since I'm running Android on the HD2 I don't know which version of the game to get...maybe the Desire HD version? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry not which games...I meant for which phone version did you buy to work on the HD2? When I go to gameloft and try to buy a game...I choose HTC and my carrier then it asks to choose your phone model the HD2/LEO isn't listed...is the closest the Desire HD?
most gameloft games can be played on my HD2

I am using android 2.3.3 Hyperdroid GBX v.11 (installed on phone, not sd) and the list of gameloft games having in my phone are;
1. asphalt 5 and 6 (both running smoothly)
2. Eternal legacy (running smoothly)
3. Novo (U need to change the control. By default, it is set to gamepad/or joystick mode...to other controls given there) otherwise the game crashes.
4. Real Football 2011
5. Hero of Sparta HD
6. Sand storm 2 (In couldnt install it, it force closed during verification process. But I have read ppl successfully installing in HD2 android and playing). I will try again and report later.
Phone: (sd card) I used app2sd partition and sd extn.
tools that I used on phone: Temp+CPU pro for increasing my phone processor, sd card speed increase app., Speed boost to clean cache and kill application.
I would suggest you to install OS on your phone (Nand) as to me, it is faster and can handle application and games faster.

He's not talking about the games to get. He's saying that on the gameloft site, which phone should he coose for the HD2. The "HTC HD2" isn't listed so he needs to choose a phone which is listed to be able to download a game(s).

That's wrong. You should select desire / bravo as it's the closest to our hardware. (Desire Hd has a faster processor, more RAM and a better touchscreen concerning multitouch.) Bravo has exactly the same Hardware just smaller.

why did htc only put 1 gb of internal storage into this phone. does anyone know what the reasoning was by doing this.first reports had it with 4 gb of internal storage now its 1gb. i know you can add memory via sd card but why not just make the internal memory 16/32 gb. not bashing the phone, i have mine on preorder and cant wait. this will be my first android phone, but just would have liked it to come with that much onboard.

Not a hiccup.
Haven't run any apps from the card other than map data but I might try a couple.

How is ADATA as a card supplier? I've only ever used Kingston & SanDisk & never had any issues. I've been looking in to getting a class 10 16GB card for when tmous drops the Sensation on the 8th & newegg has this one (when it comes back in stock).

Supposedly it has 4GB but only 1GB is user accessible (1.1 from what others here have reported).
first android. start learn. 1gb is nand data partition. (4gb all nand, system, cashe, data) used for system data (contacts, sms, u.t.t.) and apps. cant used for downloads and media. not need more.
but it would be better to have 16gb internal storage cause flash storage is always faster than a sd card (at least in terms of access time)
Seriously guys....it's no problem.
I got my sensation 3 days ago, installed 35+ apps and it hasn't even made a dent in the internal memory.
It's not like the desire if people are thinking it'll come to that.
After 35+ apps, i still have 800mb left of memory. I've got big games installed.
Seems a lot automatically install onto SD card without even telling it.

They did it because it was cheaper to put a smaller amount of NRAM in the phone.

Of the 8 or so Adata cards I have purchased over the years, (With 4 kids, a wife and my toys, MP3 players phones, cards for work) I have only had to RMA 1 card, one time and they had an amazingly great support group here in the US.
Very happy with their products!
Good to hear Barff1984. sorry but i am new to android so i though 1 gb of storage was not going to be enough for apps. this will be my first android/htc phone and just want a great first experience.
As a current Desire owner, internal memory is the real killer for me. I've not been able to install an app in months as there is no room left. I'm thinking about upgrading to a Sensation mainly because of this (and it's just SO fast!). Just wish it had an amoled screen like my Desire. It looks so washed out in comparison.
it's 100x better than the desire when it comes to apps. I'm running out of things to download now (V heavy app user) and still have 70%+ space left of internal
So yea, don't worry about the internal memory....I've yet to find an owner who said they've run out of space. Unlike the desire.
It's actually quite strange moving from a desire. I used to have to delete a lot of apps, then reinstall at a later date when i wanted them. My Appbrain account was constantly used to reinstall...with the sensation though, i just installed everything...I'm going app-happy

Yeah. Been hanging around here since '05!
Gangstar 3 has FINALLY dropped! Shows up in the launcher and everything. Time for this and GTA3 to go head to head.
ANDROID MARKET LINK
i've been wait a long time for this game ,thanks pal for information ,now on going to download this games
Damn you're fast!
As far as I'm concerned... GTA3 won't be hard to beat from a technical standpoint. It's got status... it's got fame... but it's aged horribly, it's touchpad usage barely exists, and it manages to have very underwhelming performance for a game that looks as bad as it does.
Adding to the database ASAP
Anyone played yet? How are the controls? I'm downloading now but it's taking forever on Gameloft's crappy servers, I don't see why they can't just host the data on Google Play

not expecting to much from Gameloft.
I've had a quick play and, as expected, it's buggy as hell. My main gripe is the popup tip windows. I can't find any way of removing them without turning them off completely or exiting to the main menu. Playing is impossible with one of those taking up 2/3 of the screen. Also sometimes steering/moving will continue in a certain direction when not pressing anything. Wheelies/stoppies on bikes can only be done using the accelerometer with the gamepad closed.
Controls are ok but touchpad sucks like in most Gameloft games. D-pad can be used for direction so it's not too bad.
Graphics aren't great, things look a bit blocky and the colours a little washed out. Physics are terrible, vehicles stick to the road no matter what, it's almost impossible to get some air in a car or bike. Vehicle handling is crap in general.
Overall I'm disappointed with this so far, especially given the £5 price tag, but I suppose this is to be expected from Gameloft
Better wait for a price drop then I find the current price too steep. Thanks for the review.
As a side note, I'm currently playing other Gameloft production- Six Guns, which is also a little buggy but still playable. And one does not need to spend a penny on it, if they wish so.
So, this is yet another Gameloft game that looks amazing in pictures & video, but when you actually come to play it...it's boring, frustrating & buggy as hell? I bet it is...

I have GTA3 so wont be buying this. It looks ****e!

It costs more than the game it's a ripoff of!
I never buy a Gameloft game for more than 99 cents during one of their sales (or the Play store's sales). Based on the bugginess of every single one of their releases, they do not deserve the $6-7 they normally charge.
Sadly, I fell for the Gameloft hype when I first got my Play. Got a few games free, paid 99p for others...and honestly, out of all the games I've played...the only decent one is Asphalt 6. I really enjoyed that. But the other suck big time.
Damn game keeps FC'ing on me so I can't even form any kind of review. I seriously wouldn't be surprised if City of Saints beats gta3 at everything except gta3s fame though.
What I can say is that; on a general note, gameloft desperately needs to learn about compression. This game sucks an obligatory 10MB off the phone, and near 2GB off the card after everything is unpacked. There's games 100x better looking than anything gameloft has ever done that can stay at under 500kb off the phone and under 1GB on SD storage.

They made a 2d version a while back. The SD files are about 1.6GB on the new 3d one.
3d version = https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftG4HM
What are you guys talking about? It's a 2mb apk and 800mb sd data less than EA's FIFA 12 they already did better job with compression this time. And I could run the game on first run its kinda slow/laggy with 1Ghz but when I overclocked it to 1.8GHz the game was pretty smooth have to test on 2.0ghz.
Ps. Currently using Xperia Monster Rom from DikeJ with doomkernel v11

That's unpacked.
The APK is ~2MB and the data download is 800MB unpacked... but after it's all said and done, the 800MB unpacks to well over 1.5GB, 10MB of which is sent to the data portion of the game's phone storage install (meaning it can't be moved to SD with the other chunk of SD data).
That's one of the things I hate the most about Gameloft. They aren't considerate of people with low phone storage. Order & Chaos is a really nice game to play on Xperia PLAY; yet they rape your phone's SD card with a huge data installation, then add insult to injury by forcing 19MB into the phone's data portion of phone storage so that it can't be moved to SD without minitool partitioning.

Hmm ok I forgot to mentioning it was the download size anyway I'm just happy that they finally released the android version. Though requires some fixes or more optimization for 1ghz processor. But after gta3 this game's a refreshment. And if you're comparing both then gta3 is much smoother and optimized for XPlay(1ghz) right now.

The HTC One X has 16GB of storage total, but only about 2GB can be used for apps. I don't get it, its all internal memory, why separate it like that? Or is it just similar to my current Android phone where i have 2 separate storage areas, a small amount of phone memory, and SD Card. Should i think of the One X as having phone memory and a built in SD card so to speak. Because on my current phone i can move some apps from phone memory to SD card in Android Settings based off how they work, and some need to stay on the phone. Would this be a similar way that it may work on the One X?

the 10gb partition is basically an sdcard yes. 2gb of app storage is actually a lot. if an app needs extra data, it's saved to the internal memory (10gb).
That's the typical configuration for almost all Android phones. You have system partition where the kernel/OS/system resides. You have app paritition where all apps install to. Then you have the SDcard type storage area where all user/app data stores to.
2GB app partition is quite large. You can also install app to SDcard if you use up all the 2GB space.

This has been covered before, but the reason HTC went this route is to have usb mass storage mode. With one big partion, such as I have on my gtab 10.1 mtp is used, usb mass storage is not an option.
And yes, moving apps to sd works, even large games where most of the data is downloaded afterwords, that data goes to your "sd". In short, the 2gb app partion is plenty.

really?
don't mean to beat a dead horse here, but really, is 2gb enough? i'm on a t-mobile mytouch 4g slide and i might be leaving t-mobile to come to at&t and get the htc one x, but one of my biggest complaints is the storage space. i'm CONSTANTLY having to delete apps to stay above 200mb free (and i have no music on my phone and all pics are on the sd card). right now i have 102 apps/games installed. i find that if i start moving apps/games to sd i start having phone issues (and i know not to move apps that have widgets, but even still, just installing games and stuff still tends to cause freezes and force closes). now the only reason i might be able to trust you guys and take the leap of faith here with the 2gb is that i'm running android 2.3 here... i know that android 4.0 is a totally different beast and things just run amazingly better to begin with (especially with the added hardware of the one x)... so maybe i really don't need to worry about moving some of my bigger games like plants vs zombies and peggle (thats like 150mb right there on the phone storage alone) to sd on this android 4.0 device...
SO... anyone wanna help me feel a little better about this and give me some more assurance that everything is just gonna be ok haha.
thanks
One major difference here is that your T-Mo MyTouch 4G Slide needs to use the slower microSD card for SD storage. Due to the speed difference and general unreliable performance of external SD storage, it could cause issues for apps stored on those external SD cards.
For HOX, there is no external SD card involved. The 10 GB or so storage you can use is from the same NAND chip that is used by the internal 2GB app storage. So, there shouldn't be any problem for moving apps to that storage.

interesting. sounds pretty reasonable. i don't really store any music on my phone other than a few spotify offline playlists, and no movies, so the space would be totally pictures, apps and games... so if what you're saying is true, i guess i shouldn't really worry about the 2gb... gonna go play with one in a store tomorrow to make sure i'll be happy jumping from 3.7 to 4.7" but i think this might be a done deal for me ...

No it is not the typical configuration for all Android phones, not after ICS. After ICS I think HTC is the only one who insist on sticking to it. Even though MTP have its pro and cons, I think sticking to the old 2 GB partition has more Cons than Pros.
And while 2GB is enough for many users, for many others, it is NOT enough. FYI not all apps can be moved to SDcard and right now I have almost 4 GB on apps on my tablet. So for a heavy user, 2GB space is both restrictive AND unnecessary.
This is a stupid decision by HTC that has stopped me from buying their phone since HTC desire HD (which gave me such an headache due to this restriction)
Also consider the exponential growth in the file size of the apps. A few years ago, you will have hard pressed to find an apps that is more than 100 MB, now some apps even approaches 0.5 GB to 1GB size. Enough? Hardly.

don't mean to beat a dead horse here, but really, is 2gb enough? i'm on a t-mobile mytouch 4g slide and i might be leaving t-mobile to come to at&t and get the htc one x, but one of my biggest complaints is the storage space. i'm CONSTANTLY having to delete apps to stay above 200mb free (and i have no music on my phone and all pics are on the sd card). right now i have 102 apps/games installed. i find that if i start moving apps/games to sd i start having phone issues (and i know not to move apps that have widgets, but even still, just installing games and stuff still tends to cause freezes and force closes). now the only reason i might be able to trust you guys and take the leap of faith here with the 2gb is that i'm running android 2.3 here... i know that android 4.0 is a totally different beast and things just run amazingly better to begin with (especially with the added hardware of the one x)... so maybe i really don't need to worry about moving some of my bigger games like plants vs zombies and peggle (thats like 150mb right there on the phone storage alone) to sd on this android 4.0 device...
SO... anyone wanna help me feel a little better about this and give me some more assurance that everything is just gonna be ok haha.
thanks

hi, i just bought a sensation xe and i want to play hd games like real racing 3...but it seems like you have to put the files to internal and I only have 1gb left when hd games like batman requires like 2.5gb of space. Is there any way to link the internal to sd card which software like Directorybind for samsung s3..or anything else to make it work?
The data (the largest part) should download to the SD card automatically. Does it give some kind of error?
