I ported the ICS Sense ROM from the Desire Z section found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1546915 using the kernel and update script found in plattypus latest release, Its fully preview operational its nicely fast once it gets going takes like 5-7 minutes I would estimate to finish settling in after the flash. However, even though it appears fully operational by preview standards I can't make phone calls, send text messages, mount sd card, common data bugs. If anybody can make a modification here a modification there this ROM should come pretty close to fully operational. Screen orientation is proper keyboard lights up and is operational. Any how heres a download link to check it out if you'd like. I doubt I'm gonna do much more then this which is why I'm not opening a development thread on it, besides I don't have permission from the Desire Z dev (I didn't ask). http://d-h.st/2sf
PS: I'm not responsible for anything, so if you brick don't go blaming me lol although there should be no issues of that sort.
You're truly awesome. Lol looks like you didn't ask either O_O I'm not saying a thing
Edit: LMAO!!!!!!! I'm laughing so hard at the fact that you said uploaded by anonymous

Btw. This port is AMAZING!!! The only problems are basically SD card and Signal. I think your a bit ahead the platypus's rom.
You should put this in development

He should! Just remember to ask for permission -_- ...
ya wow! this is running smooth. just wish i could get some svc from it lol
I didn't post it in the development section because then I would be forced to fix it lol it appears to be a good base, if anybody wants to get their dev on with an idea on how to fix the remaining issues, they can post it in the development section after asking for approval of the dev in the desire z section (give props where they are deserved maybe?), since this is a Q&A section, my question is, can anybody fix the remaining issues? Honestly, I think all that's needed is modification to the build prop maybe a kernel mount issue like the 1 similar to 3.5 before drob311 fixed the mounting issue, a few bin/lib/etc file swaps, the camera issue that's apparent with many Sense ICS ROM's out there. modification maybe to the update script. Its a good step maybe it'll help plattypus? I don't know but I figured it was worthy in making accessible to the community, maybe it'll help with something?
Tell you what, Ask both developers for permission. Then ask The_Platypus for help with the data. If you can fix the data, This Rom would be better than his. I have seen some stuff on Google on how fix data and wifi. Maybe you could do some research on it. I hope this helps. I'm not going to give up hope because this is a pretty good port to be honest. I PM'ed you too btw
I think plattypus work is pretty awesome, I wouldn't have been able to do crap without the kernel he presented and writing update-scripts isn't my strong suit either. This release is just a marker I suppose, I messaged him before I posted this, its kind of a more advanced preview in theory if you drop the usr folder from this ROM into his port, orientation & keyboard potentially could be fixed in his as well. The usr folder in his preview version wasn't meant specifically for the shift, since the Desire Z is a similar qwerty device/board to the Shift, working orientation was already established in the Desire Z port version that was compatible with the shift, then all I did was port the shift specific drivers into the Desire Z port. Like I said I used his packaged kernel and update script and since the Desire Z port was already on beta 6, its potentially more advanced in modification then plattypus preview port. If nothing else my driver modifications potentially advances plattypus port, hopefully this aids his efforts.
I still say you and him should work together on this! I mean you fixed a big problem. I'll take your advice and ask lots of people things It's going to take me a while to work some things out too. Thanks for this port though!

I agree even if the OP is not planning on following up with updates any time you post a rom download link of any type of software it should be in development. Other people could work on it and post new versions then the OP can update the first post with links, credits ect.

ha but then I would be pressured 100% to complete the project, I don't want the responsibility. I was just trying to contribute something to making ICS Sense a reality on the Shift, do my part. Besides, plattypus made the initial leap at getting things started my suggestion would be to tune into his work. I'm not trying to kang his ROM, I'm trying to collaborate.

The camera app from Htc Desire has been ported to the nexus one.
What's the possibility for porting it to the G1. Should we make the topic a think tank?
http://android.modaco.com/content/g...on-on-nexus-one-now-with-cm-5-0-5-3-download/
*OMG I wrote 'camera apple' instead of 'camera app'
People sure do like to hate on us.
who's hatin' on who?
I posted something like this 10 minutes before you and everyones being all negative about it.
Patience, watch the devs. Chances of getting it are slim, what do we want video drivers or an camera app which only few will use?
No one is being impatient here. What I'm trying to do is get the attention to something new and you are saying it's negligible.
The FACT is that HTC camera apps are way better than the stock app and all the apps on the market, as they allow ISO settings and most important - the exposure calculation (spot, center, average).
YES video drivers are priority and I don't argue with that, but what should we do - wait till they get them working and then post the topic? Come on, give me a break. I've been on the forums long enough to know when to post a new topic. I'm sorry and I admit I didn't check if someone else has already posted something, but as far as I can see the update consists mostly of some libs and frameworks, which maybe could be ported to some of the 2.1 roms.
I'm not a developer myself but AFAIK This is development section, not DEVELOPERS only section, so if you don't have an idea of how to make this particular mod work for the G1, please save your comments. Peace.
Ok... Your logic is soooo flawed.
You yourself have no "idea how to make this particular mod work for the G1", so why are you posting about it.
A think tank is, help me get this working. It does not mean request, which is what you are doing. A think tank requires a base and understanding of what you need to get this accomplished.
You put out a general get this to work on a g1. Wouldn't it stand to reason that if you used a base, like a modified éclair, or about as close as we can get to what the nexus runs, and because it works in that environment, wouldn't it almost work in ours?
I have to agree, until we have a fully working base without hack-on drivers we shouldn't even try for something that nets us nothing. Chances are it will depend on those to work.
What are ISO settings and exposure settings going to do on a 3.2mp camera, zilch, nada, zero!

Oh really, don't say...

Why not post about it.

That's why it's think tank wannabe. I have a base understanding. In-depth knowledge and coding savvy is what I don't have.

I said that we could make it work on 2.1 roms. READ CAREFULLY. It has the HTC framework and possibly modified framework.jar. It also has the modified libs. If it works on nexus it just might work on any 2.1 rom, just like HTC music works on non Htc roms (though things are more smple there)
I have to agree, until we have a fully working base without hack-on drivers we shouldn't even try for something that nets us nothing. Chances are it will depend on those to work.
I agree too. But camera is mostly used for taking pictures, and that already works.

Have you used the camera app on any HTC based rom like Rogers ?
I will try pushing the files to a 2.1 rom next week sooo...
now rebased off rvu 1.3.1 so that means 4g should be a go
I removed all HTC widgets and most HTC/sprint apps except for the needed ones people messages music etc. Plus a few I happen to like
Big thanks to Keith and gbhil over at Android central for an amazing Rom to base this off of
Also gotta thank toast maejrep and co. For root
Wipe is most likely needed haven't tried to flash yet without
and yes you will keep root if you flash this if you used toasts method haven't confirmed unrevoked
Changelog:
1.1 now based on rvu 1.3.1 com.HTC.utility no longer fcs
1.0 based of rvu 1.0 all HTC widgets/apps removed except for messages etc....

Looks great! I will load this later!
I highly recommend getting adw launcher it'd amazing
Does anyone know where com.HTC.rosieutility is located or what on here could still be causing it to fc on boot it doesn't affect the phone at all its just annoying seeing that every reboot
A couple of questions. Will you still be rooted if you flash this rom? Does it still have the market or 4G problems of other roms.

I have no idea about 4g I would say probably not since I didn't change anything in that regard
I'll get back to u on the market
Aw, darn. I thought this was actually an AOSP ROM. This is basically already what I've done to my stock ROM.

Good job. Thanks for the speedy contribution towards our shiny new evo rom collection I remember liking sense and aosp so i like both and i always wanted sense to run right. That was everyones complaint with sense. Well thats not an issue anymore. I thought i would be all on it, like with my hero w/o thinking.....well as soon as i got my evo i forgot all that i learned about root and why to do it....JK but i am very satisfied with it and i will wait until i can access recovery and rw to system from device before i do. I spent the whole time i had my hero trying to make it into a device like this.....well now i have it Gimme a week and i think ill go to work.......

Until we have fully functional aosp/froyo/2.2 you wont have a rom that will even work without a bunch of sense remnants wasting space on your internal storage and increasing rom size.HTC is a shiny ui htc used to lure in all the apple morons(no offense i used to have an iphone before my hero). and since they made the devices, they're plaguing software/htc sense is an integral part of the ruu they put together. This is the reason everyone always wants a non-sense rom or VANILLA. We will not have full function vanilla until toast or someone else here compiles an0ther makeshift kernel, or lastly when htc releases the source so that we can compile a kernel with the right device drivers, to give us a full function rom. It would be to say the least, very very very hard to just compile the right drivers for the htc device hardware, thus all the aosp/froyo with certain features such as cam, or 4G missing.......hope this helps you und3rstand what you are looking for a little bit more clearly. In theory, YOU or I could create the source code for the kernel and drivers. Is that going to HAPPEN?????????????????? Probably not. Dont worry though, we have toast, so we happen to have a head start in the race.....

I appreciate any contributions to the community and have spent months of my own time staying up finishing up things ive been working to complete my self in order to ul and share with the community. Needless to say, I KNOW WHERE YOURE COMING FROM. When i can give us a new choice of rom or theme i too will begin work.....
ICS ANDROID QUESTIONS GO HERE!!!!!
Quite frankly im sick of seeing a new thread or an old thread revised every 4 weeks. Basically from the point of a dev and a fan I am submitting this thread. I want to see every old or dev thread closed and all questions or suggestions pointed here.
I have personally exhausted most of my resources trying to fix the problems we have within our tegra g2x builds. This device is completely closed source rather like to admit it or not. blame it on all you want to.ether
The bottom line is lg and nvidia only releases source for their bottom line **** that makes tegra work, and we have done patched that in and made it work to some extents.
Yes Alot of us devs can make cm9 work and alot of us can make aosp4.0.3+ work. but they will not opensource their work. To the same extent we where stuck at with the vibrant and the gps issue.
All i can say is do not buy another lg device or another tegra device. Yes the transformer is bad ass, but if you protest to a level to where no one wants there work they will be forced as an oem to make there manufactures push their source and make it relevant to the point the oems do.....
Thanks for this, all the other ones seem really useless and never stay on track anyway. . I wonder how long it'll take before some guy trolls the hell out of this one. Lets try to keep this one only pertaining to AOSP ICS or CM9 development and/or progress.
This works...but at some point it will get off track...most of the people that are in the the other threads can't get a working build and since we don't have any builds to test anymore its tough to stay on topic with something you aren't using.

Yea, that's crap, I mean, one of the things I like about Android is the open-sourceness. If only OEM's would realize that an open-source system will, in my opinion at least, get more and better support FROM THE COMMUNITY tahn a totally closed system. Take Windows for example, we all have have things to complain about and most can't do that much, even with third-party programs which can be used to correct problems or bugs or add features. On the other hand, there's a game series I follow where the Dev's explicitly made the games open for easy modification, the only "closed" part is the actual engine itself which was developed from scratch. And what resulted was a fan base who took initiative to correct bugs and add features, sure people didn't like the fact that the games had bugs initially but not only did the community take action but the devs even incorporated community fixes into official patches and credited the person who made the fix. Now the dev company has gone solo and publish their own games and are due to release a fourth in the series with a strong fan base. And here we have people who will refuse to ever touch, Nvidia and/or LG ever again, and not just because of bugs, but the fact that it's closed and we get crap for official releases and fixes and crap for support.
/end rant

On the old alpha builds, it was sound and camera that didnt work i believe. On my build, it was data, camera and sound. Don't know about kwes' build. CM supposedly fixed the sound issue, but aren't sharing sources yet. So we're kinda at a stand-still until LG releases some source, or CM lets us know how they fixed the sound issue.
I just compiled the aosp 4.0.3 for G2x. I used the google's sources not CM9. However it doesn't boot. I was just wondering how did you guys got it to boot?
Also, the aosp source requires recovery as well to make the otapackage. Is there any way to make the otapackage without recovery? This is not a very big issue as i can manually make the otapackage.
booting up is the big hurdle. Any help is highly appreciated
Thanks

Right, unless CM got camera and data to work. And if all this is going to be open source anyhow, why the secrecy and lack of sharing? As far as I understand no one is making or going to make money off this so, what is it? Is it some petty game of who's the biggest baddest dev?
People can remember CM for being the first to release ICS for the G2x but only because they kept their work secret and didn't share or because they shared their work with others and others with them and they came out on top because they are better or they didn't because they aren't better, etc.

I'd guess that there are many reasons for CM to keep their source closed for now, not the least of which is reputation. Also competition is one of the things that drives development. Open source is not just about giving hard work away for free.
Here's a great article that helped me to better understand the nature of open source.

I hope this help fix audio problem...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my fix for SU660 ICS audio...and it work for my ICS AOSP 4.0.3 (SU660 = KR version P990)
I think currently, we must use the libaudio from CM7/Stock rom.......
SO...
1. Modify star-common/BoardConfigCommon.mk
BOARD_USES_GENERIC_AUDIO := false
BOARD_USES_AUDIO_LEGACY := true
# Use dirty hack to allow froyo libaudio
BOARD_HAVE_BLUETOOTH := true
BOARD_HAVE_BLUETOOTH_BCM := true
2. Add audio.primary.p990 audio_policy.p990 into your star-common/star.mk. (This will use hardware/cm/audio. DONT USE audio.primary.tegra audio_policy.tegra!)
3. Use my hardware_legacy.tgz , extract it into star-common/include. The code is mainly from VorkTeam's github, thanks. I only made some fix in it.
4. Copy from CM7/Stock rom : libaudio.so, liba2dp.so, liblvvil.so
Audio should work now...

What if I want to help?
Firstly, you need to read this and then compile android from winsuk's source. Then, look below and see what you need to do. Also, if you happen to get something to work, I can add your name to the developer list above. Thanks!

-Someone needs to try this and rename camera.qsd8k.so to camera.liberty.so and copy it into /system/lib/hw/camera.liberty.so. According to rapmv78, this should fix the camera.
Note to mods: Please PM me if there is something wrong with this thread, because I don't want this to be taken down again.
^ ^ ^ thanks For this. Hopefully this stays ;p
Love my Aria !!
It seemed like it got taken down due to the GPL restrictions in the thread in the stickies. I'm sure winsuk can reupload it following. The new guidelines.

Lol! Well the only reason she knows what it is, is because of me talking about flashing different previews on my phone. But still I'd really like to see this running on the Aria.

If anyone wants, I can post instructions for what you can do to help with this project....This will involve having a linux system and compiling stuff (instructions will be provided).
I would be more than willing to help, but I dont have access to a linux OS.

You could dual boot: http://www.ubuntu.com/ (and of course, it's free ).
You can also create a bootable Linux USB drive http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/.

Okay then, I will post up some instructions for you guys to help out in this project.
Edit:
I added some stuff for you guys to follow/do. It should fix (or help fix) the camera.
I'd love to help! I'll fire up my Linux distro after work today and see what I can find.
EDIT:
SSH'd in to it, downloading everything now! Should have a build by the end of the night.
Nice. Let me know if you get any errors...

Had some interesting fun with the packages on Oneiric. Turns out lib32readline5-dev no longer exists in the repositories. I managed to find the lib32readline5 package, will that suffice, or should I remove that package and manually install the -dev one? Found a .deb for it after I had already started the repo sync.
you should be fine without it...as long as you have ubuntu 64bit (Oneric).
If you get any build errors (like I did), let me know because there is a fix for it...
Also, please try out the HAL camera as I said in my first post before you compile the rom.
THanks!
Hi there guys, Great to see that work is still being done on such an old phone, though its old, im stuck with it so a fresh look can be nice once in a while , Ill be keeping a keen eye on the updates , i tried the rom for myself and am impressed, not too far away from making this a RC imo, oh and, if anyone is keen, is anyone able to look into making the earpiece volume for incalls a little louder? I wasnt able to test it myself because no calls were going through, only texts , but if its anything like the original htc sence rims or the CM6-7.x 's they are a tad quiet and would do with some modding anyways thats just my 2 cents, Happy Modding!
Oh and i tried the camera "patch" I think, it didnt seam to fix it for me, though all i did is unpacked the files placed the renamed fixed camera .SO file into the correct location, then repacked the lot before flashing, I dont know if i was supposed to delete the other camera file that was there??

Latest version - JellyBelly Omega-Total Customization-CM10 (unofficial)[Updated 1/28/13]
No Flash or Flash is broken - tested using w w w .adobe.com/products/about-flash.html
Voice Search crashes out of the box. Had to do an update from the market to get it to work.
Wifi throughput is poor. Using the prior release, I could easily get 20mbit, now I can't get over 5mbit.
I read through the entire thread, and didn't see this...
Would like to request the modified contactsprovider.apk be included. I know I can do it myself, but would be nice if it worked out of the box.
There was one more thing, but it slipped my mind now. I reverted to MikShiftedG for usability. This thing is so close, it hurts!!
If I missed anything... kindly let me know. That was a very long thread to read over. I do appreciate the work that has been done so far!

It might help to install adobe flash if you want flash. I included it in v6 but left it out here because we stripped it down as much as possible. I did absolutely nothing that would effect WiFi from the previous version. If anything it should be faster. Did you flash the patch?

That is for cm10.1 (JB 4.2.1) this ROM is cm10 (JB 4.1.2)
Odd. I used that patched file and it works. . Did not get to the patch. Will try later tonight after darts league.
Thanks for the info. Was going off what I read in your OP. Didn't see that Flash got stripped out, or my memory buffers dumped that info.

Feeling like a dolt. While I was running the same speed test on my home computers, I forgot to set the speed test location. As soon as I set them both to the same location, I got over 20mbit again. Terribly sorry about that.

I didn't test it, just noticed it said cm10.1 at the top. Not saying it doesn't work, but it might not work for everybody... Those are the kind of things you gotta think about when putting together a ROM. You want to use the most stable stuff so you don't have to tell people how to fix this and that all day long. But glad you got most of it sorted out. I think we got all your problems covered. BTW Flash is not actually included in any JB ROM (without the dev putting it in there) because it was dropped in favor of HTML5 (Thank the iTurd). I put it in previous versions cuz I know a lot of people still use it... But it is a bit of a space hog. You should be getting close to your ten posts now tho.
Yes, you did. I'm foaming at the mouth at the idea of having this run full time. I really love it!
My work environment uses flash heavily, thus I still have continuing need for it. The installation of Flash shouldn't cause a general slowdown of the device though, just to make sure?
One last question then. Is there a recommended contactsprovider apk for CM 10, or more specifically one that will work with your build?
Sorry for being noobish. I understand the basics and some advanced stuff, but all the naming conventions and numbering schemes kinda messes me up.
Thanks for being responsive to my questions! As someone who hasn't a clue to what it takes to build one of these, I'm sure my suggestions and comments can seem naive. I don't mean them to be tho!

I would rather you learn than keep asking the same things over and over.
Here is something to help you out with the naming conventions:
Sense is the UI your phone shipped with. AOSP (Android Open Source Project) is what JellyBelly is. Most AOSP ROMs are based on one of a few different works. CyanogenMod (CM) is one of them. AOKP and Evervolv are a few others. AOSP is stripped of any of the phone manufacturers UIs (Touchwiz, Sense, MotoBlur, LG UI, etc). Basically what the Nexus phones are shipped with. Although the UIs can be added back in to an extent when making a ROM. For example I made a MotoBlur ICS ROM for the Shift from AOSP.
CM7=2.3 or GingerBread. CM9=4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich. CM10=4.1 or Jelly Bean. CM10.1=4.2 which is the newest, most current version of Jelly Bean from the Nexus 4.
No flash shouldn't cause any slowdown, like I said I just removed it for space. And for the contactsprovider.apk, no i don't have a recommendation but if that other one works for you... Go with it! It's your ROM, set it up how you want... That was kinda the theme of Omega... To give the maximum amount of control and options to the user. hope all this helps.
Here's a link that I have referred to quite often: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CyanogenMod After your read about halfway through the article, under 'Version history', click 'expand' to see a very handy reference table. Using this, you can narrow down the flashable ROMs to certain Android/CM versions.
