[Q] From Linux to Android - General Questions and Answers

Hello guys im new here, dont know soo godd english, but i will try to ask i Q
Here is a problem, i have a phone "Samsung Vodafone M1 GT-I 6410, and his OS is Linux, i ask you can i install Android on this phone? Becouse Linux is so Iritating , big Sh*t . Thanky you for the answers

I could be wrong, but I thought this phone ran Windows Mobile v6.5?
My bad - looks like it's running LiMo (Linux Mobile). According to this Youtube Video it might just be possible, but good luck with it.
According to XDA it doesn't look likely though.
Might just be time to get a new phone.
Oh, and by the way - what do you think Android is built on? Linux :O

Hehe no answer for that Q

LiMo is awful. Really slow and useless OS. It would be really great if anyone could port Android 2.3 to M1 i6410. Doesn't mather if it doesn't have Wifi.

Whoa there killer, slow down. I dont even have a clue on how to do that. I have a windows XP box here, and then a linux box that i have successfully setup with HTCFlasher or whatever. How do i dump the ROM? The interface is slick, just like Hyperdragon's, but nice since it's the better screen.

I've successfully flashed Hyperdragon III Pro onto my Kaiser using Ubuntu. I can assist with that if you need me to. I found a method of extracting the rom off of the Kaiser, and it doesn't seem to work on this diamond. Says it's application locked. Unfortunately, it's not possible for me to do anything on this phone outside of its stock form since it's not mine. I tried

Thats not correct... Android is running on Omap 850 devices and on vox too - google the words "wing-linux + sourceforge" and you'll get the files to run Android on vox - by the way there are already posts in the Linux boots on my Htc Vox! thread or especially this post
As you can see this are really old posts. Actually no one is working on vox anymore because this device is outdated, hardware is not well documented (reverse engineering needed) and the community is to small.
Boss... Thats corrects we can boot in to android on VOX or HTC S710 but dude there is alot of features that are not available.
No wifi
no network strength, Signals
Cam didnt work for me
Poor mapping of keys
no power off
many more..
@toasty,
Bro if you or some1 can give me a version of android with which i can atleast make calls and mapping of keys is gud enough ill be greatful.
i wud love to use android on my vox and i know there will be thousands like me.
try reopening this project... atleast to make some basic features work...
any possibility..?

sorry my phone is dead since more than a year - had been fallen down the stairs. And since i m not studying anymore my webspace and the files had also been gone. I can just point you to the post where I described what I have changed - there is also the changed sourcecode - and to the wing-linux project. Thats everything you need for a working linux (or android) with a usable (but not perfect) button mapping.
--> but you have to compile it by your own
--> How to is explained on sourceforge (wing-linux)
Thanks Toasty,
But My phone is still working or probably i am expecting it to work.
It is dead since a month as probably the flex cable has some problem so the display doesnt come.
I have given it for repair, and hope to get it soon
I am a computer graduate and working with an IT firm but have no clue abt android and programing this OS.
I would love to learn that. Any pointers how i can add on to this source will be a help.
A little guidance and some pointers from you might probably get some results.
Do share the setups i need and the simulators or configurations needed.
Also please confirm if we have any version of linix/android for VOX which can catch GSM network?
Thanks
Nitin

[Q] Archos 9

Hi! I just bought me an Archos 9 pctablet, I love it, but unbelievable, it can be even better! If it just got android.. So i wonder if it ANY chance to get android on this device? I would do anything for it!
Best regards Galaxxxy
I seem to recall a project to port android onto windows. Something similar to Puppy Linux where you put it all on a live cd, but you can also put it on a flash drive. Search for Android-x86 on google- they just released 2.2. Hope this helped!
thank you! But the touchscreen dont work.. does and do u know how to get android market via bluetooth to this thing?

Unfortunately, I do not have a solution to either of those questions. I do not actually own an archos 9. I myself, would check out the archosfans forums for a solution as well as here. Sorry I couldn't be of more service.

restore / downgrade help.

I just got my shield and i have to say i am pretty impressed with the way it handles my apps and games, one hell of a gaming tablet.
Ive updated to lollipop and alittle buggy and can cause lag at times.
Just wondering if there is way i can downgrade back 4.4.2 and any instructions to help me do this.
Thank you.

Yup I used that same video, it kinda sucks you have to register as a developer but it's easy as pie once you get the Kitkat package. There's a batch file in it too so really just get the factory image, extract, have ADB installed, run batch file, wait 10 minutes.
Ive registed as developer but i think im doing some wrong because it asking to join something else after.
