[Q] any way to restore stock rom and unroot - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to return my wifi galaxy tab 2 10.1" (p5113) to the store, but they'll probably check to see if it's rooted. some posts say that i can restore the p5110 stock rom, but i'd also like to unroot the device. has anyone had any success doing this?

flash a stock rom using ODIN~~

there doesn't seem to be one, unless i'm mistaken. all other roms are rooted it seems. care to point me in the right direction?

Yeah i desperately need to flash my galaxy tab back to its stock rom. I flashed it and it lags dreadfully slow.

However, if they really want to check, they will look at the download counter. This must be 1 because you've flashed CWM. A better solution would be to flash CM9, which can be found at the link that I posted earlier.

Really worried

Hi all,
I was installing the stock 4.1.2 rom to my N8010 through odin3... but its been on halfway for the last hr now at "NAND Write start" obvs i cant unplug but am now worried its broke?
Any advise on what to do? sorry am a newbie
it does not take an hour to write there is some issue may be there is communication error or some issue with either USB port or something that is stopping Odin to write to the device.
I do not know what will happen if you unplug the usb port but that is the only option left.
What you can do is unplug
Restart you laptop
Exit Kies
Try installing again.
BTW what is the source of your firmware
If you bork your note 10.1, you can use kies / odin to get it back to factory.

Roms
Hi there...
My original rom comes from here: " sorry i cannot seem to post the link"
The SamMobile Firmware page N8010 ( which is my model)
*** SOLVED**
Hi there,
I have solved the problem.. it says to use Odin3 V3.0.7 which was freezing, i downgraded to the same Odin3 V3.0.4 that use for my Galaxy S3 and it has now installed perfectly...phew!!
I hope this will help anyone else in the same situation as me. Oh And Kies does not find my galaxy S3 or Note and it didnt locate my tablet either FYI
Ok good but it is strange to see kies not recognizing your devices that means there are some missing drivers not a good thing specially when u are flashing roms using it
What 4.1.2 for 8010 rom is this? Or is it the 8013 rom?
where is the link ?? to tell you which rom is

Got it yes you are right where did you get 4.1.2 rom for 8010 it is not out yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi
I logged onto the samsung website....
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=8295
and in the search bar I typed N8010 and it brings up all available romz
sorry that should say 4.1.1....i was thinking of my Galaxy S3 I have also just upgraded to 4.1.2 what a "blonde"....apologies
Thats interesting because there are no 4.1.2 roms for the N8010 yet. I assume you are using a 8000/8013 rom, in which case do you know which one and how are you getting on with it?
The 8000 seems to work in flight mode, but according to other forums the 8013 won't even flash.

[Q] Help with GS5 root on Android 5.0

Hello ladies and gents, has android 5.0 been cracked yet? I mean can you root a sprint gs5 that is running Android 5.0
I would like to rot my phone so I can install a program to my phone that requires root. I do not wish to change or flash new roms or anything. Just to root the phone for this software. Has 5.0 been cracked on the sprint gs5? If so can someone link me to the thread for the instructions and links for software? How successful is the root? I know rooting is at your own risk but sometimes it fails more then it succeeds and that feels a bit risky for me. I am on mobile so it is not easy for me to search all the threads. I did see the sticky about rooting this phone, but I do not remember saying what version of Android it was for. Thanks for all the help.
The rooting method has not changed. All you need is Odin and the superuser tar.

Could someone help with downgrade from 5.1 lollipop

Hi everyone
I have a retail UK Moto G LTE totally stock I have upgraded to lollipop and totally hate it its actually making me not want to use the phone lol
I want to go back to Kitkat 4.4.4 my phone is model xt1039
I don't see a guide that covers my issue specifically and I really don't want to brick the phone
I would be greatful if someone could point me to the right "stock" kitkat 4.4.4 for my phone
a nd a push in the right direction if flashing it.
Thankyou guys.
now that you have one of the latest bootloaders (lollipop), you will have to proceed with extreme caution not to flash the bootloader with an old one ( in which case you will hardbrick the phone). however you can downgrade to 4.4.4 without any issues minus screen flickering till you put the phone to sleep.

I know it can be done on my GS3 SCH-I535

Hello everyone. This is my first post and I am quite new to the world of smartphone modding. Literally, I have only been learning about this for a few hours. In those few hours I have been able to root my SCH-I535 4.4.2, soft brick it and reflash the stock ROM using odin. So I learn fairly quick and can follow basic instructions. Anyways, thats my intro.
So here is my goal:
1) Update my GS3 SCH-I535 FROM 4.4.2 TO Marshmallow 6.0.x.
So here is what I think I know:
1) The SCH-I535 has a locked bootloader which cannot be unlocked and therefore recovery programs such as TWRP or Clockwork will not work which means I cannot install any ROMS via that method. Correct? This is how I bricked my phone using TWRP.
2) There is a recovery program called Safestrap which CAN be used to install ROMS but these ROMS have to be specifically written to work with Safestrap? Correct?
So here are my questions:
1) Can anybody point me to a tutorial or help me achieve my goal?
2) Where can I find these Safestrap specific ROMS? I have read there is a version of Cyanogen13 for Safestarp. Is this correct?
Thanks in advance.

Correct, your device will never be able to use custom recovery or custom CM/AOSP based ROMs, you're stuck with Safestrap Recovery, modified stock ROMs and Xposed framework if you want to use it in addition to a ROM for more customization.
The safestrap compatible ROMs are stock based and there are no 6.0+ or 5.0+ versions for Verizon S3 that I know of unless I'm missing something.
If you want Lollipop or Marshmallow you'll have to port a stock firmware from one of the other S3 variants or other Samsung devices with similar hardware that has 5.0+ or 6.0+ stock firmware available for it.
Porting is done to convert the firmware from the device it is made for to the device you want to use it on, you'll need a copy of Verizon stock firmware and a copy of the firmware you want to port, then you extract them both and switch the vital stuff from the Verizon firmware over to the firmware you want to port. It's probably too complicated for someone with just a few hours of experience though.

Not to mention there's also no 6.0 stock roms available on any S3 variant.
Additionally OP, it's more than being compatible with safestrap, the roms have to be compatible with the stock kernel because you are unable to change that.
Only way you can get a 6.0 rom is to compile your own AOSP rom, delete the AOSP kernel, and configure that rom to run off of the Samsung kernel. It would be a difficult task, but it has been done before. Nobody has done it yet for this device. And I wouldn't have the slightest idea where to find the information to do that.
Well thanks for the replies. I guess those videos I watched are fake or maybe I just didnt understand them properly. I guess my wife will have to be happy with kitkat..
Now I just need to figure out how to root my SG5 sm-900v. Can someone point me in the right direction? I tried using a guide I found here on XDA but just ended up softbricking my phone. I reflashed the stock though.
Thanks

It depends on which stock firmware version the S5 has, typically it involves flashing a kernel then using Towelroot to root then install SuperSU then disable Knox then flash a second kernel as mentioned a few posts down in the thread linked below, it has two links you'll need to follow, a few posts below the post with the links mentions the order that you do it in.

But I think in your case your firmware might be too new and is probably locked down. It's another device that can only use Safestrap and stock based ROMs. That's pretty much what you'll get with any Verizon Samsung device these days, they're all locked from 4.3 and up, its possible to root but no true custom recovery or custom ROMs.

There is a thread linked below that is a discussion of a service provided by a company called MobileTechVideos .com to unlock bootloader for you or unbrick a locked device that has been bricked by flashing TWRP. I don't know if they still offer the service though. They may even do it for the S5, who knows.

Thanks for that post. I checked the links and it requires me to downgrage to 4.4 which I don't want to do. I am on 5.0 and I just want to root it. At this point I dont want to install custom roms or modified stock roms. I'll keep checking for a tutorial for an S5 5.0 root. I tried one here on XDA but I softbricked so I had to reflash the stock.

There isn't a working root for Verizon S5 on 5.0+ that I know of, Samsungs usually require flashing TWRP or CF Auto root but those can't be flashed on locked bootloader devices, only results in softbrick/bootloop or bricked.

Need assistance with root and custom ROM TMO GS7 G930T

Could someone help me root and add a stable custom ROM to my TMO GS7 (G930T)? I'm tired of all the extra crap. I can't afford to brick this phone. I have some root experience, but I'm by no means a pro. I have all the latest updates from TMO. Unfortunately, I couldn't stop them in time. I don't have anything in trade, but might be able to help out somehow. Last phone I rooted was a TMO GS4 with the help of a moderator friend. He helped me tremendously with root, Ron, and a few extras like sdmaid, simfix, etc. I can do via chat, IM, etc. There are a lot of posts and it's hard to figure out which one is legit for my device. Thanks!
Anyone willing to help?
package disabler on app store, or flash u-firm
A lot of it seems to evolve around using Odin to flash the phone with the right firmware. It's not clear but there does definately seem to be an issue with SM-G930T Model. Just bricked and then unbricked my phone last night. WHITE KNUCKLE RIDE BY THE WAY!
I haven't found a solution yet but if I will I'll link you in!
