thinking of buying S or V ?

Can someone please give me help on making my mind up.
Right now I'm using Desire S.
I'm a fan of HTC and on the way for a change.

The One Series comes in 3 handsets
One X
One S
One V
If you have the choice I'd go for the One S, Its a better phone with better processing power than the One V - And in benchmarks the One S even defeats the One X !!
Thats not to say the One V is a bad phone, But obviously with choice, you choose the 'better' one

I wouldn't choose the v. It is a VERY small upgrade from your current phone

Like Habarug said, the V is just not too much of an upgrade. If you dont want the S or X, then hang on to your Desire for a while.
Between the S and the X, one is not objectively better or worse than the other.
The X is bigger, has a 720HD lcd screen, has more storage.
The S is smaller (and fits better in your hand), has a qHD amoled screen, looks and feels more premium.
Go to a shop and hold them side by side.
Overall performance and feature wise you won't be disappointed with either one.

I don't know where you're from but in much of the world there are two versions of the One S, popularly referred to as the S3 (1.7GHz) and S4 (1.5GHz) versions based on the Snapdragon branding of the processor. The S4 is far more desirable in all ways if you can get it where you live.
Also the One X is available with different processors depending on where you live. The One S is my pick and a nice piece of kit, try to get the S4 version, there are threads here detailing the differences and which custom ROMs are available for each device.

Hi,
If I guess correctly, you are from India like me. In India, only the S3 1.7ghz version of one s is being sold, which definately have some battery issues due to older generation processor overclocked.
I'd recommend that if you can get someone to buy the handset from UK or other EU countries where primarily the S4 version is sold (be sure to check version no etc first) that would be better. I got mine from UK few days back and its an S4 version.I'd nt recommend the One S version available in Indian retail store because there is a vast difference between performance and battery life between S3 and S4 versions which cannot be overlooked.

What's with One X ? Are there any variants to look for?

Htc one x international and Uk version although comes with a quad core tegra processor there are couple of issues like overheating and wifi which make it less user-friendly for common user, also consider the large size due to bigger screen.
If u use cdma then US sprint network's htc evo 4g lte is the best smartphone in the world right now (yes better than galaxy s3). however for gsm i guess One S would be the better bet considering its premium design and comfortable size.
PS: try to get the black coloured one s. Its the only one which is made using famous micro-arc oxidation method making it super strong.

agree with azzledazzle ... htc one S is better than one V as the stats differ a lot ...and if ur indian ..if my guess is ryt then better dont go for either HTC one S or X coz they get the obsolete S3 processors which are overclocked and given..my friend has a htc one X he got Overheating probs and the back cover is slightly bulged ... even m using one S but got the T-Mobile one with S4..its way better and no overheating too !!

I'd get the One X if I was you, its really not to hard to hold in one hand, its perfectly fluid and smooth... The screen looks amazing and running CM10 my phone has hardly got warm (Except intensive games such as Asphalt 7) which is to be expected. I've had no build defects or issues. The best reason for me though is how much nicer it looks over the One S (This of course is my subjective opinion) Oh and the ROM development is great!

XL is the US version for CDMA and X is the GSM version. XL has the dual core S4 processor which is the same what is on the One S as well. X has quad core Tegra 3 processor. What comes to performance, they are pretty equal so doesn't really matter that much which one you take.

Thanx ppl finally bought a One X. It's big but its nice, after a week or so will go to cfw

One XL is the lte capable version of the One X. The main difference is the processor, it has the dual core S4. The North American carriers (At&t, Rogers, and Telus) market it as the One X to confuse things. All of these carriers have 16gb of storage, like the One S. The Aussie and German versions have 32 gb like the tegra 3 powered version. ALL are gsm/hspa/lte carriers. The only cdma carrier (Sprint) has a new evo, based loosely on the One X but with an S4 processor, and removable battery and expandable sd storage.
Once again, the XL IS NOT a cdma variant, that is the evo series for Sprint only.
Basically:
One X, quad core tegra 3, 32gb storage
One XL, dual core snapdragon S4, with lte, marketed in the U.S. and Canada as the One X!!!!!! 16 or 32gb storage depending on where you live
To confuse things more, Verizon is rumered to release a "One X+" gsm/hspa+ (no lte) quad core tegra 3 clocked at 1.7ghz.

Err, no
One XL is the lte capable version, with the dual core S4 as you said. It is marketed as the One X in the U.S. and Canada by at&t, Rogers, and Telus. These carriers only offer a 16gb version. They are all gsm/hspa/lte carriers. Telstra (Australia) and Germany (can't remember the carrier) have a One XL (S4 processor, gsm/hspa/lte) but with 32gb like the One X. Other regions with lte offer the One XL also, but with only 16gb storage like the NAM version.
The One X, is as you said, quad core tegra 3, 32gb storage
The cdma version is offered by Sprint as the Evo series. The latest has the S3 processor, shares the image sense camera, but offers a removable battery and sd card storge.

First Quadcore phone in US?

Does anyone have any ideas as to when the first quadcore phone will be released in the US?

Droid-life.com wrote about some leaked documentation about an HTC phone that appeared to have a quad core for Verizon. It sounds like a beast but not sure when it'll be released.

I always think Verizon because that's what I'm on, forgot you can use them on other carriers already.

Also the meizu mx and the xiaomi m2 have a quad the m2 even has a better quad than the sgs3 for half the price and you also get the miui rom preloaded.. Its a shame thats a china phone

He said in the United States..meaning carrier subsidized. The HTC One X in North America is dual core, as well as the SGSIII. This is due to the fact that previous quad core chips would not work with LTE and HSPA +42.
To the OP. The first one is supposed to be an upgraded HTC One X on T-mobile that will have a quad core chip.

The previous guys' answers are valid. There are already quad-cores, you just need to buy them from a resaler like expansys or negri. They're GSM only (since that's the world standard) and won't work with LTE (since no quad-cores have supported that until recently).

No ****. That was obviously not what the guy was asking. Everyone knows there are quad core phones for sale, and you can have them imported. He was asking for a phone that you can purchase in the United States, not import.

Differance between ONE and ONE XL

I got my phone the day it came out and have been wondering for a while if its the ONE X or ONE XL whats the diff? I know the international version has a diff processor but as for phone state side?

The XL is the AT&T version.. the L differentiating the fact it has LTE whereas the international one x does not

I far as I know you cannot tell the difference between the two by looking at them except by the lable it wears. If it says att at the top its definantly the one xl. If it says HTC its probably the one x. Otherwise just go into settings/about/phone identity/model number. It tells you right there what it is.

Other countries got the One X with the S4 processor, so if it doesn't say AT&T doesn't mean it's a Tegra version.

I said its PROBABLY the tegra version . The best way is to look in settings like I said before.

I have a Canadian one xl and it says HTC one x in phone identity. Best way to.find out is look at the processor

The ARMv7 CPU architecture is used in both Tegra3 (international version) as well as Snapdragon (AT&T, Rogers, etc.) SOCs (system on a chip). So that doesn't really tell you anything.
Is ARMv7 what is says under Settings>About>Hardware information? Mine says "dual core" (which would be right for Snapdragon). Quad core would mean Tegra3.
Did you purchase your One X from AT&T? If so, its the Snapdragon dual core version.

Yes that is all it says under hardware info kind of strange but thanks for the info i Purchased mine from ATT online and got it 3 days before release lol so im pretty sure its the snapdragon which when it comes to roms the original roms will work on here as well?

If its branded AT&T, than its the Snapdragon version. Likewise, if it has LTE, its the Snapdragon version.
Yes, any of the ROMs in the 2 Development sections of the AT&T forum section will work fine.

I just received the HOX as a Christmas gift coming from the HTC sensation I know my way around the phone, I'm just curious if their are any specific things about this phone that are different and new in terms of functionality and hidden surprises? Happy holidays my fellow one x users!

One very important thing first. Please make sure you are aware if your phone is S4 (dual core, aka one xl) or Tegra 3 (quad core) before flashing anything. S4 is att/rogers/telstra (basically the forum you are in). Tegra 3 is the international version.
In the past, Canadians had what were referred to as international phones (gsm), but not with the one xl.
If you look around you will see that flashing the wrong firmware has been a serious problem.

Hmm... As for hidden suprises, not knowing if your phone is the dual or quad core will really mess you up (as said above) lol.
The keyboard is kinda cool since you can swipe with it. That was new to me. It's also suprising how fast the phone is once you put jellybean sense on it.
Gotta use twrp instead of cwm.
Screen is kinda easy to break so don't drop your phone.

Concidering quad cores aren't supported on Canadas network, I know I have the duel core model, plus it says it on the box , as for the screen break, I really gotta go get me a case soon lol

I think you are getting some things mixed up. Tmobile's network has never, ever been CDMA. The major CDMA carriers in the US are Verizon and Sprint.
The G2 had WCDMA, which is in reference to it's data and not the voice network. WCDMA is also known as UMTS and is found on many GSM phones.
Point being, GSM does not suggest that the phone is international by any means. Also, the TMo G2 had a SIM card (of course, this was because it was a GSM phone).
G2 = GSM phone = US Version
Desire Z = GSM phone = International Version
Oh, also to clear up any other confusion, the HTC One XL on ATT/Rogers/Telstra as well as the international One X are all also GSM and all have SIM cards.

Ah, you are right. Thanks for clarifying. Sorry for the misinformation. My bad.
Edit: just deleted all that because I can summarize it in one or two sentences.
Some people have the misconception that gsm and international are interchangeable. I was only trying to address that, esp. Because its been a blurry issue for some Canadian users.

There's not much to be jelly about except the storage amount

More storage would be awesome though... I can only keep two or three backups with 16gb, because they're like 1-2 gb themselves... Anyway, to the OP, Otterbox is a great case, and CM10 is an awesome ROM.

one piece of advice, flash a jellybean rom as soon as possible, it kicks ICS's butt.

Do not upgrade to software 2.20. If you have AT&T and your software number is 1.85, stay there! This was my first mistake and now I have to flash boot.imgs manually.

[Q] 32GB AT&T One X?

I'm looking to get a good condition used One X. Unfortunately eBay is cluttered with misinformation and junk devices. It seems that generally the One X is cheaper than the One X+, obviously. So what I'm trying to figure out is this, did AT&T make a One X in 32GB? I did a couple of searches and it looks like they did not, but there are some listings that have some AT&T ones for sale so I'm kind of confused.

Incorrect. At&t might have never released a 32gb model, but several other carriers did. My partner has a 32gb One XL from Telstra. So the answer to @sikkboy626's question is yes, there is a 32gb model. It won't be at&t branded though, and will not carry the at&t radio hardware (the LTE hardware specifically)
