[Q] About superoneclick-Please someone respond - HTC Desire S

Well guys..I am so afraid of bricking my brand new phone so i have been searching for alternatives(rather than using adb push stuff)to root it the last 3-4 days.I have a DS running 2.3.5,software version 2.10.163.5 and hboot 2.00.0002,branded.Can i use Superoneclick to root it and then flash a custom rom or i need to unlock my bootloader by using htcdev(its better to stay stock rather than using that) and then use the Superoneclick?I dont want to blow up my phone so i am asking for your help guys..

You can't be bothered reading, can you? It's so much easier to open 10 threads with questions that are answered 100000 times, than to sit and just read, is it?

First of all relax. You have no [email protected] idea how much reading have i done for this.I have like 23 bookmarks on my browser to try short things out.So give me a break. Most of the guides i found have comments below that say "Not working","Error,HELP" and stuff. All i wanted is a clear answer.YES or NO.I am so [email protected] confuced about the methods so i asked for a clear answer. If you got it i will push the "thanks" button and say i appreciate your help.If not, please do not even bother saying read because i have done MUCH reading.Believe me.

You're reading the wrong sources then.
Read the index thread.
Read the guides.
Read them and try to understand, what each part and each command is doing, and what it's needed for.
You're asking the most basic questions that just about anyone knows the answer to. Try asking Google: "what is S-OFF", "what is the difference between root and S-OFF". Read the answers.
And really, yet again, the same piece of advice: not all phones have to be rooted. Stay stock until you understand enough to mess with your phone. It's better for you, and it's better for your phone. Believe me, having 10 apps you don't use means nothing for your phone.

Jack_R1 is a super help when u need it.
What u need to know is those post are on sticky for a reason, if it is unsafe it would have been remove, and ppl have actually succeeded in unlocking and rooting based on those post. yes there will always be one or 2 error, but it was solve somewhere in those page. I did the instructions in page 1 and found solutions to my errors in between page 40-50 and another solution in another totally different post. Google will be your friend.
Everyone is afraid, who isn't. i flash my phone when it was just 3 months old, and it was my 1st touch screen android phone.
Based on what i read that u should try to avoid HTCdev(bet there is a post somewhere saying why).
Try to read the sticky, find which method is best that u can understand and is most suitable with ur device then go with it, when u encounter and error, try the search button, if u still are not able to find the solution then create a post.
Ppl here are genuinely willing to help when u done all that u could.
There is also a sticky explaining the meaning words if you do not understand any(which honestly i do not understand before flashing).
Take your time, there is no competition/time limit, Find a day when u have nothing to do. Read through, and make sure u follow each step accordingly. i miss one step which force me to pull out my battery, twice. But after the horror ordeal i am now flashing between roms every now and then and enjoying it.
Cheer and try to be polite.

Thanks man.I was waiting for that kind of answer and not like Jack's.Well the only reason i didnt want to follow the guide which in my case is Zergrush is because i am afraid that if i press something wrong the phone will get bricked and dont know how to fix it.Thats why i asked for an alternative. And sorry for not beeing so polite but i I Swear to God i have done so much reading that it only made me be more afraid than i was before.

-Actually he is right, there is no need to question the guides, it is research and proven by those OP(s) and also ppl like us who have successfully rooted it.
-So you found some ppl posted their issue, I believe most of their issue were solved and they posted about it.
-you can search for your error code in the forum with the search option either by thread or post.
[2]Read them and try to understand, what each part and each command is doing, and what it's needed for.
-He is actually guiding you, each step is a process, once u take ur time to read and understand and break down the process you will find that it isn't so complicated. And if u bum into an issue within any of those step u can simply find the solution(s) in a later post. (i actually wish some one told me that before i started, i have no idea what i was doing when i started)
-With that in note, read whether ur phone is branded, if it needs a goldcard, zergrush or some other, because some process are not necessary while others may be a must.

[Q] Rooted... now what.. sorry

Hi sorry, I couldn't find where to put this but I just rooted my ASUS transformer on 3.2 - 8.6.5.19 sucessfully and now need to or want to know what to do?
1-Ive heard of overclocking but I would want to do it safely
2-Id like to make a backup before I do anything that may mess things up
3-Ive got Rom manager on it but it asks to make sure that I have clockmodwork Recovery and I can't find where to get it.
and finally
4-What can I really do with this thing now?
Please let me know thanks
Well, browsing and searching through the forums should give you enough answers... If you had any other Android device, it is all the same here.
Anyway, if you've installed ClockWorkMod Recovery (the Rom manager can usually do this, but I am not sure as I haven't tried it for this device), you can try it by switching the device off and powering up with keeping power and volume down buttons pressed. After a while you'll get a message like "press vol-up to boot recovery in 5 seconds". If you press vol-up, you'll get into the recovery.
If you did not install CWM, you can also use this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
That's what I used.
As for backup - you can do nandroid backup of your current rom from the CWM recovery (in case something goes wrong, you can easily revert to the current rom). You'll have to use one of the backup apps if you want to backup data and apps from your current rom though.
If you want to install a new rom, put it into the root of your sd card (real one, not internal storage), then do a full wipe (clear data/factory reset in CWM), then select "install zip from sd card" (don't remember the exact message), confirm, wait for it to finish, select reboot and you're done.
As for overclocking, I don't know yet, I've had this device just for a few days. Check out the available ROMs, they probably have some overclocking tools/features.
I just love this device - rooting and installing CWM without even having to connect to a PC
1- search the forum
2- search the forum
3- search the forum
4-throw it into the sea
1. Search & Read
If you ask such questions, you clearly do not have an idea what are you doing. Gain some knowledge before you harm your device
However Sigismund83's post should cover it up
ROM Manager does not work with the TF101.
Everyone always says "search" but it not always as easy as it seems when your a noob .. Although there are guides for alot of things, it isnt as noob friendly as it could be.
Some guides are out of date and throw you off in the wrong direction, and it can end up taking you a fair bit of time searching and reading old topics till you finally come across / figure out the correct process...
Heres what i would suggest (as i just did this myself)
1. Root with Razorclaw (youve already done)
2. Install the easy recovery installer Tool for flashing CWM in one click
3. Download a Rom of your choice ... Prime, Revolver, Revolution etc etc and transfer it to your microSD card
4. Boot into recovery (cwm) and flash the rom (flash update from SDcard) (this is another good quick tool Reboot to recovery App
Bobs your auntie ...
Thank you!

Boy ain't THAT the truth! Searching these forums is agonizing for exactly those reasons. It would be nice if there were more people that would just answer if they know or if they don't want to help just move on. "Read and search the forums" is less than helpful.

I think the point everyone is saying is, he rooted his tablet and then asks, "What do I do with it," which indicates he didn't really have a reason to root it in the first place other than for the fact that he could.
He should have researched rooting, what benefits it brings, pros & cons, etc, before just rooting for the hell of it.
I'm wondering why would someone root a device and not know what to do with it. It's like getting a tattoo and then ask now what?

There is nothing more noob-friendly than searching IMO. Where things get hairy for noobs is when they decide to take the easy route and ask questions that have already been asked, probably 5-10 times at least before someone really starts trolling those questions..
Searching is only difficult if you have a sub-grammar-school reading level..you have to be willing to use your eyes and actually read some, even things you may not need to know, to find what you are actually looking for...you may find that learning stuff that you didn't need actually turns out to save your ass later (as has happened to me many many times).
That is why we say over and over to search, because learning to find your own answers, a crucial skill in problem solving, is much better than simply answering a single question that has been asked over and over, you aren't teaching you are doing their work for them..you know, teach a man to fish and all that jazz. Honestly, the only time searching for your answers is difficult for noobs is when their device is brand new and not undergone a lot of development. But in the case of our TF101, there are entire websites devoted to it. It has been out for nearly a year now.
No offense to any noobs who didn't want to hear it!
I rooted mine to fix the speaker balance. No reason to root other than that, and I'll probably un-do it so I can use Movie rentals from the Market.

flash custom rom due to Hboot 2.0 S-on

I wanted to write it down many times, but I don't have right time to do this.
The reason why I want to write it down, because I'm a newbie, and I know what a newbie would feel when he/she wants help but no one will help or they can't help.
Because of the stunning performance from few videoes of 4.0, I wanted to flash a 4.0 rom always, but I'm afraid to briket it, and finally I started to log in forums and check someone else how to do it.
I added many people, and only one answered me, and patiently helped me to do this, do that, but failed, though, I still thank him a lot.
My steps are simple, I won't define words, explain them, and I won't write down the exact process, because there are so many posters about it.
1. HTCdev, very important, everything is invisible without this step.
2. after this, you can use ADB to flash superuser and RE, or use a tool called pioneer, which is in Chinese, just need you to press anykey of your keyboard after you unzip it, and click (执行(means execut))boot.bat, and it's done
3. Flash recovery, I flash 4ext touch version, and it's quite good.
download PG881IMG.ZIP, and babababa....
My situation was like that: do not connect computer during flash 4ext, or it won't react.
4. flash rom, and after flash rom, return to bootloader, to flash boot.img(still many poster say this), and connect to computer, flash boot.img
And after that, everything's done.
May it help.
Welcome

Hello, please don't take this personally...(you're input is appreciated)
If by adding people you mean, adding users as friends and then private messaging them, then I don't find it surprising that you didn't get many answers.
This is an open forum and it's power is that all users are able to put input into finding solutions and assisting each other as a group not as individuals.
Even though PM's have a use in efficient communication within the forum, they are not recommended for new starters with problems, that's what the Q/A section is for.
If you have an issue or a question simply post a new thread describing it, although hopefully use the search function first to see if it has been asked before, as 90% of questions have been!
Although a little reading of the available guides and Google'ing goes a long way!

You were lost when you started and after a while it made sense to you, your guide will still just confuse people cause they won't understand it. To someone who understands they can see where its going but its flawed, to a noob its no help. Sorry.

+1 Totally agree, the beginners need to be spoon feed with idiot proof guides, which is in no way meant as a knock, we were all there once, fortunately we're in one of the nicer forums....

Flashing in recovery

What does this mean.i knew you.could update.a zip in recovery but.how do you flash in recovery like a boot animation for example
To use recovery to flash (another term for install) the file needs to be in zip format. Always make sure that the zip you're flashing is made for your phone and Android version. The best thing to do is make a nandroid backup, it's similar to a Windows restore point. It will save you if you flash something that doesn't work.
So do you use the update option to install the zip?
Sounds like you are referring to the stock recovery. Most zips here need to be flashed through a custom recovery like TWRP or philz.

You really need to take about 10 steps back. You've been posting in multiple threads with the same basic questions that should already be known before posting. Please start using Google (answers to all your questions can be found all over the Internet) and read, read, read. Here's the first link you should read: Understanding the Journey. Sorry, but XDA isn't about being hand-fed every answer. Thanks.
I agree with Ramer. When I first wanted to root and customize a phone I spent countless hours reading, and researching, and reading more before I even attempted anything. I then downloaded what I wanted and also what I needed to fix my phone in case something went wrong and made sure I knew how to fix it. I still do the same thing and it has been about 6 years since the first time I rooted a phone. Don't just dive in blindly, be prepared.
Ya thanks guys i have done research .i first started flashing my EVO when i started. I understand how to use google to find answers. To the OP ......... you have not done enough reading or enough self-educating to understand the basics. Because of that deficit in your knowledge, you are struggling to get the gist of the help offered.
Instead, you chose the Troll road and flamed the person who tried to help you ......... not a good choice.......

Boot Loop - Can get into Recovery

I can get into P0010UU_V16 but thats it. Reset and clearing everyting gets me no where. When i restart, i get the White boot screen with Blu, then it turns off. Sometimes i get a flash of a matrix looking green lines but that is it. I can't get it to recognize on my PC either when plugged in unless I put it in ADB mode i can get it to show up as a MT65xx Android Phone. I have tried the "SP Flash Tool" but it does nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks for no help! Maybe a check this thread with a link? i don't need the passive aggressive response. I was using the unbrick thread already...
who's the one being passive aggressive? read the thread... its not my job to spoon feed you... look who posted tons of help in those threads... ME
I've already helped more than just you. oh but wait... since YOU need help, by all means let me retype all of the stuff i already typed, in that thread and put it here... JUST FOR YOU....
when your main question is "i already did a thing, and it didn't work" when you obviously haven't even attempted to read the thread, to gain the knowledge of how to do the thing correctly... there is EXACT problem you are having, and how to fix it... no im not going to dig through it for you, I had to learn how, so do you... and i told you EXACTLY what to do...
so good job getting on the bad side of the guy who could have helped you, by being entitled ... no one here works for you, and we help those who help themselves... or at least have enough sense to research their issue and maybe read a little before acting like we owe you...

check THIS Thread
edit since you did...
Wanna know how I know you arent reading that thread? If you were there are step by step instructions... there's even alternate fixes... I am not going to tie your shoes for you; especially after you got all butthurt...
all the information is there... including...
I will throw you a bone... you prolly are doing 1 of 2 things wrong...
1. dont have the right drivers for the MT chipset (the one that "pops up in device manager" as you said (yet anopther clue to you not reading the thread)
2. you arent using the correct procedure for SP flash tool...
the fact you can get into recovery even opens you up to another possibility to fix (and also points out the fact you arent reading the thread, 3 so far...)
All you need to do is read... it isnt 100000 posts...
Ill even make it easier yet... maybe search my post history.... Maybe me saying I typed it elseware was yet ANOTHER hint...

I need help with upgrading - Samsung Galaxy W (SGH-T679M)

I'm searching these forums, the web, every single website, and I still haven't came across a solution. Cyanogen, clockworkmod, they don't want to cooperate. I really am desperate now.
I'm trying to find a way to easily run a ROM on my phone, or maybe just install it. I'm aiming for Kitkat, but I have no idea how, as almost all of the posts on this forum contain broken links. Please, someone help!!!
Alex
Tell me about your fone.
Whats your skill set, as in do you KNOW how to unlock bootloader? Do you know how to root?
Firmware creators are too busy creating firmware. And fixing Bugs.
If your a noob, I can handle that, in effect, I need more information, because all those broken links are irelevant when what you actually need is found in millions of posts here..
The very reason developers dont answer

Okay.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy W. It's model number is SGH-T679M and it is currently running Gingerbread.
And so I wanted to change that version because... Gingerbread is unsupported, right? So I landed on this forum first, trying out all the ways that I could, and most of them lead me to dead links as I said.
So I went on different web pages, the Android subreddit, all that. Ended up finding this zip file supposedly containing KitKat or something earlier.
I tried to install it how they told me. Already knew how to go into recovery mode, then it told me to go to the apply update from sd card (used the internal storage instead because i could) and it said the MODEL NUMBER WAS WRONG.
It was for the Samsung Exhibit II, model I8150, and that makes no sense. Because they are LITERALLY THE SAME PHONE.
Thought this was gonna be simple but it was being rough on me. This is why I need help, because I honestly don't know what to do anymore. It is so confusing.
