[HELP] is my tablet bricked? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi,
i bought yesterdy a tablet from a private person and not a store. the tablet looked new, wraped in original wrping and all, and i didn't started it on, since i was told the owner didn't even do the 8 hours charge.
after charging, i started on the tablet, and it got stuck on the ASUS logo. i tried hard reset (button down + power for 12 seconds or more) but all it doe's is again the asus logo and nothing more.
is there anything that can be done?
needless to say the person i bought it from is unrechable (going to the police to comlain of fraud, but i was too stupid and didn't took his full details )

Contact asus for the warranty if they let you. This shouldn't be in the dev section though.

Just download the firmware including original Rom straight from http://vip.asus.com/ Flash CWM. Unzip the package to INTERNAL SD, just extract ONCE. Boot into CWM, flash the package and see how it goes

If you need help go to the Index of the TF300T
It's a good start.
And then you came back and ask your questions that will be possibly without response.
It's a forum for share, indeed, but you must to try and search :good:
We are always here for help you
Edit: Don't be afraid, if your post has been moved to an another forum; go to => Transformer TF300T Q&Ac

first of all - thank you, but
here is the, i read all day the index (well some of the day), and there is nothing there that has commands for apx mode...
when i said i'm a noob, it was to say i need a bit of help, not a lot, some of the stuff i know, but still
any way, tried one click root tool, but device is not recognized.
my only hope is to work on apx mode, but i don't know how, or what can be done in that mode.
whould appriciate if someone knows how to help me

I saw that you had posted your problem elsewhere.
I see not other solution than to return the product that you purchased to Asus, with purchase (of the former owner) and sale invoices.
And try to explain your problem.
If I find something, I would come back to you

i am trying, but i have no recipt, since i bought it from a crook who disapeared (and foolishly i didn't take his full detailes).
whould apriciate the help, if you will find an idea, and also i hope asus lab will assist me, if they can, tomorow they will take the item and tell me if they can do anything.
let's hope the dumb ass didn't ruined the pad for good.
i will update

Do you have access to recovery or ANY adb access? Since asus didn't release the sbk for the TF300 (Only fastboot if your bootloader is unlocked) Idt you have NvFlash access, you could attempt it but without a sbk afaik Apx mode is useless.
If you can get fastboot/adb access via the volume-down+power menu you may be able to flash recovery and then a ROM or adb flash/fastboot flash a full restore stock blob through the staging partition.

That's why I can't explain why he can't flash one recovery by fastboot command.
Is that your installation of Asus drivers , and SDK is correct? just verify it
Access Adb or not? When you connect your TF can you access to your recovery or not?

[Q] NVFlash issue, cant get help on NVFlash page.

hello, let me first say i have posted appropriate questions on the NVflash webpage for this issue, and so far have been unanswered.
i am hoping that by posting this in the Q&A section of XDA someone might see this.
I feel as though my issue is very simple, but i cant seem to find any answers and as i have said, my posts on the NVflash webpage have so far been unanswered (over a month)
i am on 4.0.3 zeus rom, have rooted and added TWRP recovery. yet, now that im trying to use NVFlash so i can update to JB finally. it wont let me start fastboot. just sits there at boot saying starting USB Fastboot protocol…
and thats it…. i plug it in, adb devices. nothing. fastboot reboot. “waiting for device”
i have the proper drivers, as i had to have them to root/rom/recover the tablet in the first place. i have NOT done NVFlash yet (i exchanged my TF201 for a TF700 at bestbuy to avoid needing to nvflash the first time)
can anyone please help me? im not sure what to do, if i cant get fastboot to work.
the ROM i am on works, no issue, no brick. i just wanted to update to JB finally.
any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Ignore the drivers you used before. Use the ones stated on the nvflash page. That should fix your problem.
i appreciate you trying to help but the drivers on the nvflash page... are the ones i am using... it seems fastboot will not run ON my device. says "starting usb fastboot protocol"
ill redownload them and try it again though. thanks
That is the message it says when running fastboot on the tablet. It will never say anything else.
Redo the drivers on your pc. Uninstalling asus sync if you have it as that could have broken it.

[Q] Hard brick on Transformer TF300T ??

Dear transformers,
My Transformer TF300T is a brick !!
I've got TF300T, with stock JB 4.1.1.
I'm not sure if it permanent, please help !!
I've unlocked my device via the official Asus unlock device tool.
It went well.
After few days, I've downloaded few programs from the "Google Play".
One of the programs, allowed to automatically enter recovery after reboot.
I opened the program (of course I don't remember it name), click on "enter recovery after reboot", and then the problem started !
Please see attached screenshot.
The device is stuck on the Asus logo, without any progress.
When I'm trying to enter the recovery menu, with "Power + Volume Down", the device turning of for 3 seconds, and getting back to the exact same position.
I cannot choose "RCK", no Android, no USB option, nothing !!
What you see in the screenshot, is the permanent condition...
When the Transformer worked, my computer recognize it, but now when it stuck on the Asus logo, it seems that the computer even doesn't see the device !! (although the driver is installed...)
How bad is it ??
It is a hard brick ??
Can I do anything without RMA it to Asus ??
I'm pretty sure that Asus won't support the device, because I've unlocked it
Please help !!
If XDA couldn't help me, I'm really lost... :/
Thanks a lot !

Are u sure to use the right tips to enter< rck>< fastboot>
Vol down and power

Absolutely, more than that, it worked in the past...
I can only get the APX mode...
What should I do from there ??
How can I recover the brick from APX ?
Thanks,
Transformist.

so you have NVFlash that you can enter APX Mode?
then you could just restore a backup like here - but I'm really confused an APP should have broken your rck/fastboot menu

Thanks for your answer !!
It seems like the only thing that respond, is NVFlash...
But I still don't know what exactly to do with it...
The link you've sent me is for TF700...
This is the output of it (screenshot attached).
I absolutely agree with you that apps from the Goggle Play shouldn't prevent me to enter RCK / fastboot, but the RCK / fastboot worked until I've installed and used it... that all I know about why it's happened.
Is there a step-by-step solution for how to work with NVFlash (or wheelie) with TF300T ??
Thanks again !!

I've made a small progess (??)
I got an error message from our friend "wheelie"
(Of course from APX mode...)
Does somebody knows what it should means ??
Thanks,
Transformist.
Unless you already generated your device-specific NVFlash files while still on ICS, you will not be able to use NVFlash/Wheelie at this point. Wheelie needs those files to run and they will only work on the device they were generated on. The NVFlash files cannot be generated after upgrading to JB as of now.
Does your computer recognize it as an ADB device?

Unfortunately I cannot get to a situation that my device is recognize as ADB in my computer (that is because I cannot get into RCK / fastboot mode)...
As far as I succeeded, I can only get to APX...
BTW, I've tryied to use a lot of times with the "hard reset" button, with no success...
So... if I cannot use NVFlash/Wheelie, and I don't have any backup for my device, what can I do now ??
You want to tell me that I can throw my device, if I don't have a backup and only can get to APX ??

Dear Transformers,
I hope it's allowed to share external links (and if not - I'm really sorry...):

Does anyone knows if there is a similar solution to TF300T ??

hm so if you don't have the ICS backup'ed device-specific files NVFlash can't help you - only thing I found was this with unblob'd system updates - what would make sense would be if you could do the same with unblob'd TF300 blob's - other thing which I would recommend to try first is THIS as it sounds like the same problem and ppl seem to agree (although OP didn't answer anymore) - hope I can help you a bit although I'm not familiar with NVFlash

After 4 long weeks I officially announcing my TF300T is dead...
After hundreds of posts, I understand that with only APX mode (no RCK, no fastboot0), there is nothing that can be done.
Thanks for all of you for your support, I'll now contact ASUS for RMA.

[Q] TF300t bricked? Bootloop, no adb, no fastboot but APX accesible

Hi everyone, first post here, but I've been reading this forum for some time now.
I've got an asus transformer pad tf300t 3 days ago. Last night, I tried to install cyanogenmod10, I unlocked the device, and installed clockworkmod, everything was fine until I accidentaly entered recovery mode and wipe all data, now the tablet only shows the asus logo and enteres in to a bootloop (I think). I can't enter recovery mode, ADB doesn't recognize it, fastboot neither and I can't even turn it off. I can't enter recovery, it just shows me the asus logo again.
HOWEVER, I waited until the battery drained, connected the usb cable to the tablet (not in the computer) pressed + volume button and without releasing it, connected to pc. Now the computer detects new hardware. I already installed the driver and it says "ASUS TRANSFORMER PRIME APX INTERFACE". Now, i'm not sure if it's the correct driver, but according to hardware administrator, it works fine.
Now, the real cuestion: Is there anything I can do from apx mode to save my tablet? A new bootloader maybe??
Thanks everyone
PS: Sorry for the bad english, It's not my language
from the loop,If you hold the power button for 10s when reboot and immediatly press the volume down button, what you have asus loop or the screen with the 3 icons (RCK ecc) ?

To answer your question about apx, no unless you received your tablet with ICS 4.0 and installed Nvflash.
Check my signature for a guide for apx and bootloader menu. Look below the apx section for the bootloader information. Try each from beginning to end except removing the back and disconnecting the battery. If you complete the list and still have not seen a change start with #1 and try them again and again. It is surprising but as you go through the list things have a way changing.
Good Luck!

Use of the bootloader information may allow access to recovery, adb, or fastboot. Access to any of the three may allow the ability to recover your tablet.

Rayman the dev and op for nvflash suggests this as a first option.
nvflash -r --download 4 blob.EBT
nvflash -r --download 10 blob.APP

Of course, my tablet had the bootloop error with TWRP and the new 4.1.2 JB update.
When my device had stock ICS ROM (long time ago), I followed this tutorial, this allow you to create some backup files from your device, which in the future will allow you flash your tablet througth APX mode (more powerfull that fastboot mode) and the NVFLASH utility
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1894867
The only isue is that you need a pre-JellyBean bootloader (ICS) in order to make those backup files, if you are in a JB stock ROM (JB-bootloader), you can't make this backup files (Asus block the way that we can backup this files on JB ROMs).
With my backup files, the nvflash tools (from the tutorial above), and the instrutions that post tobdaryl, I manage to restore my tablet to an ICS ROM
If you are interested, there is a online petition (but i don't remember were :silly asking that Asus allows the NVFLASH backup utility on JB-bootloaders. With NVFLASH and ours backup files, we can restore our devices from any type of soft-brick.
In the case that your TF300 had and stock ICS (or you can flash it one), I can assist you in the case that you have troubles making the nvflash backup files with the tutorial
Would be nice if you could use someone else's file to fix a brick. Has anyone tried it.

After downgrade the console from the v. 4.2 to 4.1, following tutorials in this forum, because it would not let me install a Custom Rom (yes the recovery, not the root) I can think of to make a choice Wipe from the Stock 4.1 Recovery and restart WW I stand still Asus logo, white, and trying to restart pushing Recovery again, I go and I follow the fixed logo. If you cannot access to fastboot, IMHO there's nothing you can do. I am in your same boat: no adb and fastboot access, my PC recognize the tablet only in APX mode but with NVflash I cannot do anything because I not have a backup.
Bye
EDIT: I am in this situation after a wrong recovery flash. I flashed a new recovery but I could not load it and I made the (big) mistake to try a wipe from the recovery menu. My Tf300t is now stuck at asus logo and I cannot access to the bootloader anymore. I do not know what to do, is the tablet definitely bricked or there's something I can try before going to ASUS service?
Thanks in advance.
Bye

[Q] Tablet bricked, stuck in apx mode.

For starters: This tablet has absolutely no mods on it, it wasn't rooted, and the bootloader was stock, everything is stock. I don't have any backups of anything. It was purchased May 2012.
The story: Came home last week and saw an sd card on my desk, put it in my tablet, turned it on. Then I realised that the sd card I had just used was one that I previously had formatted with Homebrew channel for the Wii weeks earlier. Before I could take it out the damage had been done, the tablet was stuck on the acer screen. I left it running in hopes that it would work but after leaving it for 10+ hours on the acer screen I gave up. Turned it on the other day and now it's just a black screen. When plugged into the computer the tablet is running in APX mode. I have managed to retrieve my CPUID from a script in Ubuntu but I haven't managed to find an sbk converter.
So in my searching I hear a lot of mixed information, that the tablet can't be flashed from APX mode and some saying it can be. Some say it will only work if you have backups of your bootloader etc etc. I just can't figure out were to go from here.
I have used the reset button.
I have tried recovery pwr+down button.

There's a huge thread just for this, but here goes.
You can flash in apx mode, it may or may not save it, we've never tried, see below.
You can't use apx mode because we don't have the SBK to allow use of it, Acer kept it secret, so while an apx mode flash may save it, we can't do it. The info your stating is for the a500 which they cracked the SBK for. The a100 once bricked stays bricked until a motherboard replacement is done.

Really sorry about that, don't know how I missed it, I really have been looking around for information for a few weeks now.
Regardless I guess the only option is to scrap it, hack it, or pack it away.

Getting CPUID?
When plugged into the computer the tablet is running in APX mode. I have managed to retrieve my CPUID from a script in Ubuntu but I haven't managed to find an sbk converter.
Hey. I have an acer a500 and I am also stuck in APX mode but I do not have a CPUID. Would you be willing to explain how you where able to get it from APX mode, and would I able to do it from windows?

If your A500 was ever plugged into your PC there's supposed to be a way to get it that way. If not there is a method to get it from APX mode but the tool for it needs to be built and runs in linux. The first command, any command, thrown at the bootloader in APX mode will respond with the CPUID.
That doesn't help for the A100 as we can't get the SBK the same way the A500 does, but the A500 can still get the SBK from the CPUID. You'll have better luck in the A500 forums, though.

Ok. Thank-you very much! I was actually able to find it in an archive (I had written it down in the past, but couldn't find the file) Making lots of backups this time.

[Q] Back To Stock

Afternoon guys,
Before anyone has a go at me, I've have spent about five hours looking through this forum for what I'm looking for and i've tried all the easy unroot/easy flasher/etc and got all the stock Asus rom and recovery. AND the forum search is temporarily unavailable.
So here is what I have:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.3.4
Liquid Smooth Rom
I have installed the stock rom, recovery and wiped everything.
If i press the power button it loads into CWM recovery.
If i press power and down vol, it loads to the wipe data/load android screen, and which it hangs on forever,
So I guess what im asking you good people of the internet is:
A) How do I finally get rid of CWM Recovery (because even if i install another recovery it boots back to CWM), and
B) How on gods earth do I get back to stock?
Now I know people are going to be like search the forums, I have, and I've tried literally everything that everyone has posted, and clearly while it's worked for millions of other people, my tablet is retarded and doesnt want to follow the norm.
Also i am the greatest noob ever.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hmmm, did you unzip the stock ROM once before flashing (it will still be a zip).
Otherwise, try using EasyFlasher and APX mode. For EasyFlasher, do not unzip the stock ROM, use it as it downloads from Asus.

If your TF is SBK1 (Serial B6O or earlier, some B7Os work too) you can use NVFlash
http://www.xdafileserver.nl/index.php?dir=Asus/Asus+Transformer+(TF101)/STOCK+ROMS/ICS+.27
Stick the TF into APX mode (Vol up & Power from Powered Off state)
Run download.bat as Admin (Right click > Run as Admin)
@frederuco
I did unzip it and install it. It still hangs.
I tried EasyFlasher, but for some reason I run through it and the process completes, when i reboot the tablet nothing has changed.
@*Detection*
I can't get the link to work for some reason.
Thanks for your help so far, but stupid tablet stays stupid!

I downloaded it and ran it as admin, DOS flashed up and disappeared before i could read what it said.
the nvflash app does the same, even when i run as admin.
maybe this is a lost cause..

What is the first 3 characters of your tablet serial?
And was it in APX mode connected to PC USB with APX drivers installed ?

The serial starts with B40.
Im on a mac (as i have no access to a pc) but have VMWARE running windows 7, with APX drivers on it.
When i put it in APX mode, it comes up that it is connected as Nvidia APX device.
Could this be where I'm going wrong?

Yea probably, I've never tried using NVFlash on anything other than a PC running Windows
Try updating the NVidia APX Device with these drivers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1489867&d=1353190140
Chances are its the drivers running on the Mac that are causing the problem with the USB > VMWare > TF101
I know nothing about Mac, but I heard you can install Windows 7 almost natively using Bootcamp or something? Might be worth trying that if you can't do it in VMWare

Great!
At least you know now you can do what you like with it firmware / ROM / Recovery wise, and always be able to return it to stock, you can't break APX mode unless you physically damage the tablet
