I created a tool a while back for Galaxy S II owners to backup and restore the '/efs' partition and perform basic NV Repair on their devices.
This proved so popular that I recently updated the application which now includes a feature to automatically detect the mount point of the '/efs' partition. This allows any supported device to be used with EFS Pro and also adds support for future devices.

Hi!
I tried 1.6.8 with my R (GT-i9103). I selected Galaxy S II as device profile because my efs partition is the same (mmcblk0p1, as shows the mount command for the efs partition). And it says "Device Partition Location appears to be invalid! Make sure you have selected the CORRECT Device Profile then try again!".
If I choose "Add Device..." button, I write "Galaxy R" for the Device Name and "mmcblk0p1" as the location and the response is "Partition Location is Invalid! Please try again a VALID Partition Location."
PD: If you prefer, I could copy&paste this post on your original thread, but I imagine you prefer answers per device in their respective places.

Ok, Thank you very much, lyriquidperfection, it works like a charm right now (1.7.14)... at least to backup the efs partition. Good job, man!!!
What if I flash efs.img from some other SGR... Then two or more devices will have same imei.... Will it be an issue?
I know it may not be great benefit....

Had the same issue with mine..... It sucks
search my username and electron
He had a post a while back that listed the partition sizes and correct syntax.
I ended up having to setup the partitions several times but finally got it all back working order.
Good luck

you do realise that this is a modem file and it can potentially harm the device... I appreciate your effort but I am just worried if some one who is having a low signal problem and flashes this and looses their baseband/IMEI...
Btw what is the version number of the modem file?
It is a XXKPE + some features from the Samsung Service Baseband
Which is enhanced in this modem?

no offence but is it worth that risk??
I was just curious about it so I installed it and have been trying for two hours or so. Not enough time to make conclusions. But I can confirm it is not dangerous (also, if you are on cm, you don't even have to flash from Odin, so you don't touch the radio partition). Picture attached.
Look at the "Versión de banda base" field, which is the baseband. It now says service. Very interesting, thank you!

how do i install the baseband without odin ??? am lil bit confused with it.
Do you use a cm build newer than cm 10 alpha 4?
Then just copy the modem.bin inside this .tar to /radio, change owner to radio:radio and permissions to 655 and reboot.
If, just in case, it didn't work, just move your old modem.bin to /radio again.

Easy, download a file explorer with root permissions, copy your efs backup and paste it over the efs folder in "/" (root folder)
You'll get your IMEI instantly (of course reboot).
If that doesn't work, download a modem.bin that works in your country and do what rodero said

Nope, it is very unlikely that the problem was caused by the modem, its just that, since alpha 4, our device is using an mtd partition layout and Odin uses a bml partition layout, so you probably just screw up your partitions.

While experimenting with some stable ROM's and performing regular backups, I've discovered that
CWM 6.0.1.0 is NOT generating MD5 checksum files.
I've checked all available options, but cannot find any menu item that allows for the switching off/on
of the MD5 generations.
Why is this important?
When attempting to restore a previous backup, CWM 6.0.1.0 gives an error of "MD5 mismatch"
due to the missing MD5 file.
To correct the problem and allow for CWM to perform the restoration, use another backup software
such as Nandroid (or other) to create the MD5 checksum file. Once created, the restore will work.
Hope this helps anyone else who has experienced this glitch/problem.

My apologies if I put this in the wrong place.
Perhaps as a senior member, it would be helpful to point out where it SHOULD be created?
As for whether or not this is a device specific problem ... I can't really address because I only own

Cheers,

Hello everyone, i recently buyed a used samsung galaxy r. Its in good condition.
But it has one serious issue ie, no network & blank imei number.
I browse google whole day & found that this happening becoz of corrupted efs, i checked efs folder via root explorer, there is no imei folder in it :banghead: i also tried efs backup but nothing done.
Why this issue happening, is there any one who can help me out to resolve my no network issue,
I also went to nearest service center, they told to change the board which cost around rs8500 (indian).
Help me frnds, my galaxy r is without network & blank imei ?????
My last hope is XDA!
Help ???
You cannot fix it without the original EFS. You could ask the seeker if he/she has a backup of the folder. Except restoring the backup, only SSC can fix it.

The problem is maybe with just the nv_data.bin file, you may check out this thread.

Thanks for help, but will this work ?? But in my case there is no imei folder inside efs will other galaxy r efs backup will work????
I will try this & plz support me
It makes no sense to create an EFS backup of an already corrupted partition. Also, the imei folder has nothing to do with the actual imei number. It is stored in the nv_data.bin file.

Actually Sir, I format my system partition with odin and flashed stock gb rom 5 to 6 times while resolving my issue, and at time i accidently deleted the contents of EFS folder & reboot but still no network & imei..
So i again flash stock rom via odin & all EFS files(nav_data.bin) again automatically generated, is this normal ????? but no luck to restore my imei & n/w ..
Below is the screenshot of my phone
Yes, the file is generated automatically, but it doesn't know what to generate. So it either generates a fake IMEI or garbage I assume. We would need to know about the internals of the nv_data.bin file to fix it. You have to take it to SSC or someone who knows about the details.
Above method is not working.. any helps please..

☆Supports for all Android devices!☆
It's aimed to support all Android devices running Android 3+.
This is an improved and more generic implementation of EFS Backup.
This application auto detect all your device partitions and let you save a backup of any of them (Boot, EFS, Modems...), to keep them safe from getting corrupted after bad Rom flashing issues.
You can backup any partition to your internal or external SdCard, the backup supports 3 formats:
Raw partition image (Img)
Tar archived image (No compression)
Compressed GZ image (Small size)
This application was made to be a generic solution for all Android devices, it does NOT use any static/hardcoded block numbers.
Notes:
The backups are saved on /Sdcard/PartitionsBackups.
Do NOT leave the EFS/Modems backups on your Sdcard, make sure you keep them on a safe place
It supports stock and custom Roms (CM, Omni...)
Do NOT use the restoration feature for tests purposes, it is recommended to use it for small partitions only (EFS, Boot, Modems...), you can restore other partitions backups with Fastboot, Odin or any other flashing tool depending on which device you are using.
Bugs reports:
Post your Exact device model
PM me your logcat (you can use Syslog App)
Download.
Changelogs:
12.3:
- Various bugs fixes
1.1.0:
- Add restoration feature, the backup file must be a raw partition image (with img extension)
- Minor bugs fixes
1.0.0:
Initial release
Suggestions are welcome, if you like the application please rate it.

I think it is a path detection issue of the sdcard, di you get the correct path on the App settings?
This application was tested against N910C (Stock), G900F (CM11) and Nexus 5 CM12.
Hi,
regarding those settings: if i set it to "external sd" backup path shows /storage/sdcard1/partitionsbackups which is correct. if i close and reopen settings "external sdcard" is still selected but patch suddenly shows /storage/emulated/0/partitionsbackups.
I tried to make a backup of /data (i guess this must be userdata) but i got a very small file in size (about 100 bytes) if i remember correctly. i tried a backup of /system which i think succeeded but android itself thinks the app has frozen. Also... it seems that the backup is as big as the partition (1.6Gb) even when there only 500 mb used. sorry, no logcat for now

It seems this one can't be done in a generic way, each device has its own pit start/end.
New update 1.2.3 has been pushed with various bugs fixes related to Android L and some customs Roms.
