Voicemail Notification - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi guys,
I got one of those beauties just recently and absolutely love it.
Only one thing that I couldn't work out:
The phone doesn't send me voicemail notification. So when someone calls and leaves a voicemail, it does not send a message to my phone, saying that I have new voicemail. Do I need an app for that?
Thanks for help!

I would suggest calling att or whichever carrier you have if the issue came out of the box. They likely didn't provision the account properly.

Yes it's called visual voicemail. You can download it from the play store

Are you talking about AT&T Messages? Because I can't get VVM to work on my phone.

Visual Voicemail doesn't seem to be compatible with HTC One X...

Call att tell them to provision you for visual voicemail then install the app from the play store. It works just fine.

I probably should've told them, "This is Gunnyman." Then I would've had it fixed up good.

Are you able to call into your voice mail? If so does it let you set it up or access it like normal? In any case att needs to reset your voice mail, if none of these things resolve the issue you should be escalated to their tech support so they can look into detailed settings from your voice mail.

Every time I try to instal this it says application not installed, just like the regular update method... Ugh, the icon in my notification bat won't even go away now.
Nice! Installed flawlessly and the voice-to-text feature is going to be sweet.

Not interested in the voice to text, and not liking to in your face advertising for it in the vvm app now. It was a required update too. Hopefully they'll remove the ad before long.
Why would you pay for this feature. GV does it for free and it sucks lol

I dont think anybody in their right mind would pay for that, I dont know what Sprint is thinking. Just listen to the damn voicemail, plus the text is never accurate from what I have seen on my girlfriends phone, since my phone for some reason wont update.

[Q] Sprint VVM for Nexus S?

I'm trying to get Sprint's VVM working because I have 3 voicemails and I have no idea how to view them. LOL

Why not just dial your cell phone number, enter voicemail passcode and listen to your VM's?
Or, have them forwarded to Google Voice?

1) Do what I do... uninstall an reinstall google voice.
2) SKIP the sprint integration
3) Follow the normal google voice setup
It now acts like VVM and doesn't display texts

Q: Voicemail on CM7

Hey guys, so whenever I install any of the CM7 roms I can't access my sprint voicemail. Does anyone else get this problem?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
The Nexus S 4g handles the voicemail different than other Sprint phones. It hasnt been figured out how to use classic Sprint VVM yet. Maybe google voice?

Which visual voicemail works with prepaid?

I'm on tmobiles prepayed plan and I always get issues with not being notified of new voicemails.. so I want to download a visual voicemail app but so far I haven't found ones that work with T-Mobile prepayed plans.. Did T-Mobile restrict all visual voicemail apps from working on prepaid?
Thanks

i dont think they are able to that, go to the market and try a few apps out and see what one you like best. you can use apps to freeze other voice mail apps so you can try them out.

I use G-Voice + T-Mo prepaid with my Nexus. It's very finicky, most voicemails still go to T-Mobile's old school voicemail, and some to Google Voice. I've read that you can call and have T-Mo eliminate Voicemail from your prepaid number, then all calls to the GV number will go to GV voicemail. Unfortunately I've given just a few people (can't remember who) my actual T-Mo #, and they would get no voicemail if I cancel the T-Mo vm.
Nvm i see you tried it.

I'm not sure I see the connection - Google Voice always worked - locked or unlocked, rooted or unrooted. At least for me.
Same here. I use it all the time.

I could never get it set up due to Verizon blocking it. When I tried I would get some pop up message saying is not supported. Because they sell a similar version for 3 bucks a month.

Unless you are referring to a popup during setup that informs you that automated configuration of the voice mail is not sported - I have no clue what you are talking about. The voice mail setup popup can be skipped and then Google Voice provides instructions what to dial to manually forward voice mail from Verizon to Google Voice - always worked for me. For years.

Same with me. I use Google Voice on my Droid Maxx as my main phone number and texting application on VZW. Never even occurred to me there could be an issue.

I just use it for voice mail, and I forward my home phone to the number when I travel (which rings the Maxx.) It works great for me, too.
That said, the app could use some updating...

It's going to be integrated into Google Hangouts soon. Whether that's really "updating" it or not, we'll have to wait to see.
If you are just using it for the voicemail, try better youmail. It integrates the voicemail in the call log.

Um, I don't get a lot of calls, but Iirc, so does gv on the alert of a new vmail. Unless my mind was playing tricks on me. But like I said, I don't get calls very often and even less to they get sent to vmail or leave one.

Google Voice does that as well, if you want it to. (For people who want to know how, in GV, menu, settings, Voicemail display). I don't want it to.
