i don't think something like a 3D ICS ROM could be possible to begin with we are starting to get limited with memory available and on top of that we will need a dedicated GPU for the 3D effects you want to have(correct me if im wrong), why would you like to have something like that? in my opinion is just useless and wasted resources. no offense and i don't intend to sound rude but i do think is useless to do something like that.
I think it will be nice if a developers do that. Nice idea like that.! ;-) we need new ideas

Yeah you are right but it would open up alot of doors when it comes to innovation, it won't be perfect the first time, but that's the purpose, sooner or later it'll be perfected and also alot of other Devs by that time would have already taken the creative step to unique ROMs and custom ROMs would be revolutionized

i hear you, sometimes is good to come up with ideas, i myself have been working on learning aobut porting and compiling roms, once i finish with that i would love to jump on launcher creations as i have several ideas myself, time is the only problem but i think i can do it.
I encorage you to do the same my friend, i know developing on android can be hard and more difficult when nobody can explain things and you have to rely on whatever information you have, probably you can be the first dev with a custom 3D fully functional ICS rom? , would love it if a developer could explain to me many things but until that happens this forum has been the best friend i have, pretty much every question i had so far has been answered by older threads.

Kinda, I want to make it where there are different 3D styles you can choose from, and yeah right now I'm learning, hopefully one day I can do it, and thats really cool you should let me know if you release that, it looks clean!

There really isn't anything good that can come from rooting you're skyrocket. All the roms for it are very unstable. The only things you could add are maybe battery percentage meters at the status bar and a few very minor mods but the phone is to new you wont really enjoy anything from rooting it.
Well rooting for me is always a given... as i like certain fonts, and adblock... but atm stock rooted on my skyrocket has been a wonderful exp.. where as prev phones stock roms have most always sucked.. Plus if I feel the need to theme or change etc I have my atrix to toy with.. the skyrocket is my work/daily driver,

there ARE stable Roms for our phone, there is an unstable Kernel that may require patches to run right. but you can always run the stock/stockish kernels. Red Sonja is my Daily and is VERRRY stable for a beta. the Rockateer Rom is also stable along with TCPs and Quickwiz. maybe i dont know your idea of stable.
the CM7 rom has bugs and is unstable....but even that RUNS stable if you set it up RIGHT<<<< right being the key here.
anyway, that **** rubs me the wrong way.....

I don't agree with the tone, but I do agree that there are many stable roms. Do you're homework before rooting or using a custom Rom and you'll be happy. The cm10's are faster, smoother, and better battery life than ics. The other jb roms are just as good. Just make sure you get a rom that is specific to your device or you will create a brick. All Sll's are not the same.

Regardless, reading this did take me back. My first skyrocket ROM was made by PirateGhost. Red Sonja was queen of the skyrocket back then. And now Doc's back after a long hiatus with AoCP. And Mortem used to provide some great theme work. Now that's the skyrocket forum I miss. When the biggest issue was getting vibration to work on Red Sonja. Not the countless number of repeat questions and the lack of search skills.

Can't wait for this ROM to come out of Alpha, hoping that battery life will be amazing! Won't hold anything against anyone. I know sense ROM's tend to use a bit more battery than AOSP/CM/MIUI builds, but I'll have some hope!

But the main problem is what XDA is not central place now. Many devs went from XDA to their forums. And it is too hard to gather info from their portals. I (as common user) don't want register and monitor 100500 sites for something new. I want see that new ROM will appear here at XDA.
Spreading (diversity) of information at thousand places is severe headache. And does not matter user or dev are you.
I would assume that this policy they have is for sharing a ROM on another forum as well. Check the link, it's their porting policy/ROM inclusions policy.

Regardless it'll be interesting. My htc hd2 already has devs working on it as well. Can't wait for both devices.
JB animations and such probably that'll be nice lol, there isn't a whole of change that we should get out of this without proper drivers and a beta (official) build. Still glad they dropped so early!

I believe it won't be worse than ICS, because its pretty much the same thing, just a tiny bit more optimized. The optimization should technically require less resources, so it might be a bit better.
On the otherhand, it could be a jumbled mess too

Oh of course, I'm on your side with this. Tbh, we're lucky to still have the few devs that we do. I'm not one to b!tch and complain. I respect these guys for everything. And the phone is plagued with bugs anyways, its cool if something doesn't work. What I think is that there should be tight moderation. Our section is pretty clean compared to others, and it should stay that way.

If I could, I would be one of those badas* devs who pushes out weekly huge updates, but I can't so, I rely if great devs. And these devs will stay, as trolls won't clutter this place. A nice galaxy s2 or s3 style gb rom would be cool. Have features like all the lock screens, and power menus, and tweaks but without any rediculous theming you know? I love the stock look, whether its aosp or twiz. I'm still on gb since I can't deal with Ics battery drain and until the battery life improves I can live with GB.

For people complaining about battery life on ICS... I'm not quite understanding how after the tweaking period, you're getting particularly bad run times. I was getting 18+ hours on AOKP M6B3 with 2 hours of screen on time and 4G the whole time.

I don't think you know me... So i'll put it as simple as this, There isn't a ton of members here, So a few hours of work isn't s***...

Edit: @hwchan I agree, I get 27hrs on aokp If anything there battery life sucks cause there impatient, they don't let it rly soak in...

Being a hardcore sim racer and petrol head lol.. the boot image id like to see would be the internals of a V8 engine working . Pistons cams the lot lol that would be epic complete with sounds too :thumbup:

I prefer something simple, minimalistic like iphone's boot. Custom Android boot animation are usually cheap with a lot of effects, monsters, explosions, glow, etc.

I could do that but what i actually want to do is something "special".. something what i make myself and not just rip an game intro and put it in a bootanimation.

It depends on what kind of effects you want to use etc.. im in this Editing "Scene" for almost 2 Years..
And to answer on your second question: every bootanimation.zip should work, you just have to make sure its the right Resolution
for our Phone.. which is: 480x800
Mabye a small cartoon. Something simple but funny.
