Hi !
I want a dual boot for my Nexus S (with 2 Android ROMS).
Is it possible ? It would be very great !
Thx for your help.
Never thought about this before. I'm gonna look around but its probably not possible
Sent from my Nexus S 4G flashed to Boost Mobile
i think , dual boot needs special hardware support which Nexus S doesn't have it , as far as i know , dual boot, only MI-ONE is capable of
Sorry, it has never been made before, and I don't think it is in the works for now...
However, it should be possible, but the benefits aren't that great. You could just backup both of you roms and switch between the two.
It s not possible but you can run Ubuntu ON your Android. Theres a xda-thread

hi Experts,
i tried to find the answer from the forum, took me hours but no answer. That is why I am posting this thread.I want to root my HTC G1.But I don't want to use custom roms.On iphone when I jailbreaked my phone i did not go for another rom ,i used the same that came with it.My question is if I root my android device ,do I really need to install a new rom or I can use the same that came with it but will gain some power of having root.
sincerely,
ml
You don't need to but why not use a rom that has more features than stock.
Thanks for reply.I want to but afraid of make the device too slow.i can still remember when I upgraded ios 3.0.2 to ios4 on my iphone ,it was quiet annoying to use.I just want to root to move my apps to the sd card.
Installing a custom rom, normally, doesn't make your phone goes slow... but it gives it a HUGE boost and add features!!! And Android is not Ios 4...

Thanks now I think there is no way to turn back. Can you or any one please tell me which rom I will go for.Cause My Htc G1 is not T-Mobile version ,it is from Rogers.i know there are a lot of thread about it ,I just need to focus on that rom which is the most stable and will work all functionality of the phone.
hello guys, I got this iphone 4s clone mt6575. since then, ive always wanted to get a new rom for this phone. i've worked on porting some CyanogenMod 7 on this device but it doesnt boot. please help me im just a newbie and im sorry for my bad english:crying:
this is the backup of my stock rom
www dropbox com/s/mma4wgc1n6uw1jr/NastyJeax_build.V1.0.0.rar
dont be bothered with the build coz i made some modifications of this. lol
hope you guys help me with this. PLEASE.
you cannot get cyanogenmod running on your particular device at this time. a cyanogenmod based on this chipset is in work, but is barely working yet. (just SystemUI starts, everything will FC).
ouch.. . that doesn't sound good.. anyway, can u give me links to the cyanogenmod development of this chipset? please

They are gonna need it as without the full and proper kernel source code for each and every device that runs that chip it will never work completely. This is the reason CM doesnt support cheap knock offs.

I had CM10 on my Jiayu G3 with the 6577. I'm sure it could be done someday. It actually ran quite smoothly. It just had a few bugs with some apps and had a battery drain but was otherwise rock solid.
think its possible for this chipset (MT6575) coz i found some posts proving that they have sucesfully ported CM7 and i actually tried to port using thier ROM with no luck at all. why my system apps starting with "BR" like BRMms.apk?
Hi all,
I'm new to the XDA-Dev Forums... and i'm desperate :crying: .
I recently purchased a Measy B4K android TV-Box / Stick. I want to upgrade this to at least android 4.2.2 or 4.3 if possible as it came with 4.1.1, but I cant find any custom roms for this product anywhere. It's supposed to support up to 2160p output, but for some reason even if i set it to a 1080p display setting it still looks like its just upscalling from 720p. Would really like to get a true 1080p kernel on the device.
Is it possible to use a "Generic" 4.2.2 or 4.3 android build? I unfortunately don't have a lot of experience with custom rom builds or installations, but i really want to learn if ANYone can assist I would REALLY appreciate it so so much!
i know this an old thread but i'll answer anyway as we just found some intresting stuff & upgrade that helps a lot
also to be sure it's this a31 device we have and i'm guessing your talking about the same thing : http://www.measy.com.cn/product/showproduct75_en.htm
not a custom rom but we've gotten hold of a developpers 4.2.2 RC3 firmware for measy b4k. We had trouble getting installed but another person found a way to do it. You need phoenixcard 3.09 (http://www.freaktab.com/showthread....S918S-firmware&p=131526&viewfull=1#post131526)
this rom https://alimail.alibaba.com/alimail...eb961&[email protected]
burn the rom as product using phoenixcard, install terminal app, erase nanda then, insert phoenix burned sdcard in measy b4k box, reboot. because the boot is gone (nanda) it will try to boot from sd card and start the firmware upgrade the normal methods using the hidden reco button on the left did not seem to work. but this did, i did as well as someone else.
To give you an idea with original firmware that came with the device i had around 10000 - 11000 antutu score with this dev build firmware i have 19000 antutu score and everything feels a lot smoother & faster.
1st succes upgrade
http://www.freaktab.com/showthread....S918S-firmware&p=132832&viewfull=1#post132832
how to erase nanda on it
http://www.freaktab.com/showthread....S918S-firmware&p=132947&viewfull=1#post132947
do note if you fail at doing something but you erased nanda your device will not boot ! it's a bit risky but worked without a problem with me
Thanks for the info!

For better batterylife, temperatures and peformance, better sound and display. A good custom kernel will improve the phone a lot bro imo.

This is also my first nexus device... I have always had HTC before and rooted every phone that I had... This is the first phone that im happy with stock rom, but I would like to change the kernel... My question is how quickly will the stock rom be posted up with every update... I know I'm not going to really want to wait...
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I've had Android phones for a few years but never rooted until I got my Nexus 7. I've loaded roms but havent delved into it too hardcore. This is also my first Nexus handset device.
As far as rooting - the replies here have outlined the benefits. If you simply root and unlock bootloader, then you can still receive the OTA updates. however, if you load up a rom, you have to wait until the developer incorporates the updates - unless, the rom already has anticipated and tweaked those issues in a positive way.
If you need to ask why you should root then you probably shouldn't; it's not a question of Chrome vs Dolphin or Nova vs Stock Launcher..
Here's a nice little article: http://google.about.com/od/socialtoolsfromgoogle/a/root-android-decision.htm.
Read around as much as you can and don't use a toolkit. Go the route that is described in the link in my signature. Make it a learning experience!

google usually posts the full stock images within a couple weeks of OTA.
I rooted my first device (Galaxy S2) when I became tired of Touchwiz.
I rooted my Motorola RAZR HD because there was no possibility to silent the camera shutter sound without root (I renamed the system sound files).
Now I rooted my Nexus 5 because I'm using Greenify and AdAway which only works with root access. I'll also try different Recoveries, Kernels etc. to increase the performance/battery life in the future.
Titanium Backup. 'Nuff said.
This is the first phone I haven't rooted within minutes of owning, partly because I've been busy and party because I'm really quite happy with it. Unfortunately I need root for ad blocking so I think I'll be doing it today.

Adblocking through hosts files. Also you can use droidwall to select which apps get cellular data and which apps get wifi only and which apps get no internet access. Secure settings app will allow you to set conditions to set and remove your lock pin based upon conditions set by an app like tasker. I use this to enable lockscreen when not in range of my bluetooth headset or home wifi.

no reason at all!!! but it's fun to flash things.... and kernel upgrades if they are done well can make you feel a bit more elite with some nice things. depends on the device and there is a lot of gimmickry with roms and kernels out there. but this being a nexus there might not be as many issues with modifications since there aren't so many manufacturer proprietary binaries and unusual dependencies. but sometimes on the kernel end they can upgrade sound and video drivers, or adjust parameters that effect battery life and things. my old captivate would go as much as 4 days to a charge becasue the gingerbread and even froyo development comunity on the i9000 was so good. the infuse i replaced that with never got that level of kernel support.
if you don't have an expressed need to root, like maybe for unlocking a feature the carriers took out such as teathering, or removing factory spyware like carrier iq (not that they do that anymore to my knowledge) or certain applications then rooting isn't really needed.
Hello, its my first time here. Nice forum about android and i hope i someone will help me . I bought used HTC SENSATION, everything is fine but its a bit laggy. I had this phone model before 2 years and there wasnt any problems, then i sold it. Now i bought it again. I think something is wrong with processor or because phone software is hacked i think.
When i choose hardware information i see all info. And there is something about processor that i think its wrong. It says Processor : 1620Mhz x2 - Bricked. What does that mean?
Android version 4.0.4
HTC SENSE version 4.1
Sowftware number : ViperS 1.6.3
HTC sdk API level - 4.23
HTC Extension_403_1_GA_20
I hope its somehow will hepl you. Maybe it's because it has to good android version and using more rams that it should? I opened device manager and i saw that 568MB/768MB are used is this bad? Or its normal?
Sorry for bad english.

you have a custom rom(vipers 1.6.3)
with a custom kernel(bricked kernel)
to put it simply your device is rooted with unlocked bootloader or it is on S-OFF and has a custom recovery installed
about ram 568 is total for users.the rest of it handles it the gpu

Then why its so laggy?? When i press messages icon i need to wait for 3s, sometimes it takes longer time to open phone book, or even browser. I havnt installed any games on this phone. But i think with games its will be the same. Maybe my processor speed its limited?
What doeas cutom recovery means?
By the way my phone come from UK and it has SIM Toolkit, what does that means? Maybe it was on something like AT&M?
SIM Toolkit are just services which delivers your "provider" (sorry, I dont know the correct word; it's Orange, T-mobile etc.).
Custom recovery is adapted to flash custom roms, like the one you have.
You may try to flash any other rom, i.e. CyanogenMod. It's less ram-hungry. You can check if it's laggy or something, then you will know if there's something wrong with your phone or just with rom (hopefully).

I was not able to answer yesterday. I'm currently using nightly CM10.
You may also download one from this forum, i.e. Viper 5. It has HTC Sense 5 with Sense 6 launcher.
