-----------------THIS THREAD IS FOR PORTING THE OFFICIAL ARABIC SUPPORT FROM HTC WHICH WILL BE RELEASED SOON IN SAUDI ARABIA-----------------
Ok I once made a thread about requesting help for Arabic support. I think it was deleted or something.
Anyway STC (Saudi Telecommunications) and HTC have both announced that they will be releasing the HTC Magic here soon with Arabic support.
I will acquire one as soon as it comes out and I'll try to find what exactly in the system is responsible for arabic support (will need help for that) and we can get this ported to the dream and even the hero.
So lets keep this thread only (So we can stay organized) for when the phone is released and the project begins.
****Please only post in this thread if you can contribute to this in any way. Otherwise, NO POSTING until I or anyone uploads the entire files on the Arabic HTC Magic******
I contacted HTC about the magic and they also confirmed that it would support arabic.
But is arabic support on the magic made by HTC or is it an early/stripped out version of donut? Can anyone confirm whether it is supported on the latest donut code drop?
I just tried Cyanogen's latest experimental build 4.1.4 which contains some code from donut 1.6, however arabic isn't implemented yet. I added the fallback font but letters are still not connected.
I hope donut 1.6 final implements it. Other than that, we will be depending on you Kainous to get us the nandroid dumps off the htc magic
it is out already
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=565859
dumps are out too in the same thread,, so far only for Magic, needs porting to Dream and Hero
Thanks xaxis.. Although i have no experience on how to port this.. i just wanted to get the project started...
Any volunteers?
Per everyone's request for Dream/32b support. Enjoy!

Now, let’s take this to the next level, by creating a package that works on all builds. I Know it’s possible, just need some cooking help!
There are several files in the update.zip folder that we need to grab in addition to the Fonts & Parfield IME. I have zero cooking experience, but have been a follower of Android development since day ZERO. We need to locate all the files that make Arabic support possible for all ROM’s.
looking forward to having this support imported into cyanogen mods
Updating my Samsung GS2 to Gingerbread XXKG1 2.3.4 Firmware lost me the Arabic support added under 2.3.3
Is there yet Arabic support for Gingerbread 2.3.4? If not, is it advisable to restore 2.3.3?
Cheers.

Same here, I am searching for Arabic support as well.
Thanks
Arabic Support in SGS2 with Gingerbread 2.3.4
Lonexl:
If you're in a rush that you can't wait till the official release of the arabized 2.3.4 then your only choice would be to to switch to a deodexed rom (I am using Darky's ROM) - google " rom-base-sgs2-2-3-4-darkyrom2-xxkg1-base.4059 " to get it
The problem with this is that the programs/browsers that use the support library "libwebcore.so" will not be able to render Arabic correctly due to the fact that till date no one successfully compiled libwebcore.so from the webkit provided by samsung with arabic support patched in; However, firefox should work fine with stock font.
If that doesn't matter then after flashing the ROM just apply the update attached in this post using ClockWorkMod Recovery or simply upload the files framework.jar into /system/framework; libicuuc-arabic.so & libanrdoid_runtime.so into /system/lib using root explorer or any other method/tool.
Cheers.

Thanks for your reply, although neither methods worked for me, perhaps this would benefit someone else....
Clockworkmod wont work on my mobile for some reason and attempting to copy the lib and jar files did not either using rom manager (getting permission errors).
So may be I have to wait for a simple firmware that can be fired away via good old Odin.
It should be straight-forward process to get CWM you need to flash a kernel with CWM built-in. I suggest that you try "CF-Root-SGS2_XW_CLK_KF3-v4.0-CWM4.zip" from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
However, the one mentioned in Darky's thread "Supercore..1.0" should do anyway..
Once flashed you need to reboot your device with the three buttons down (power+home+up) to get the recovery menu. If you use that ROM you need to exercise patience as it will take a very long time to display the menu.
The stock ROM recovery will not allow you to flash the update because it's not signed by Samsung.
Thanks mate for your message. Athough i really appreciate your help must admit, I found the above message rather confusing.
"If you use that ROM (Which ROM are you referring to) you need to exercise patience as it will take a very long time to display the menu. The follow on step is not clear either.
When I installed arabic support to my SGS2 2.3.3 via one firmware & ODIN, straightforward process.... and for the non-tech "occaisional users" like yours sincerely the easiest way is to Start Odin, load firmware, click start and.... bingo.
Lookslike I will either have to wait for such firmware or search other sites.
Cheers.
SGS2 xxkg1 (european firmware): libwebcore.so with arabic shaping
I have made a patch which will enable arabic character shaping in the browser
*NOTE: This is only for Galaxy S2 with XXKG1 (2.3.4) (European Firmware – Deodexed)*
Use CWM to update using the zip file attached
*UPDATE* I have cooked a patch for SGS2 European XXKG3 (2.3.4). PM me in case you need a copy (for Deodexed Firmwares only).

Firmware version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: I9000XXJVP

Currently the best unofficial arabic support package is provided by brother Madmack and you should be able to get it from here http://blog.devasque.com but be warned it requires that your phone's system has been deodexed. You could use a package called xultimate to deodex your system automatically just make sure u actually use a version which employs the latest smali/baksmali (ver 1.2.8). Additionally you may just search the market for "brightidea browser arabic patch" to download the patch I built for the browser (which should be included in madmack's package anyway). Good luck.

Hi there
I'm working on a tool that let you change your ROM in about 2 minutes (even less, depending on the kernel that you have) without going into the recovery mode and WITHOUT LOSE YOUR DATA!!
That was the idea behind RomChanger.
RoMixer is different: it let you change a bit of your rom with the part taken from another one (ie. I have the Dronix[I'm talking of the Ideos U8150] rom installed on my devices, but i LOVE the FUSIONideos' framework, this tool let me install the FUSION's framework on the Dronix ROM )
The developing state is in Italian, and can be found here http://www.myppc.it/web/community/viewtopic.php?f=126&t=6490
Now I need your help...i need you to tell me what rom do you want to be available in this tool. Follow this pattern to do that:
My Smartphone:

Topic of the ROM:
If you have a phone that doesn't use Clockwork MOD Recovery to flash a new ROM, I need you to do this:
1. Run this script with your phone connected to the PC and with the USB DEBUG ON
2. Upload the Pull folder that is been created in C:\
3. Link this folder to me
Thank you guys! I will appreciate your cooperation because I think this is a GREAT tool

Topic means the topic on the xda forum where the rom is presented. I need that because I have to write the maker of the Custom Rom.
And could you write the link for download the rom? Thank you ^^

The script available is NOT the RomChanger or the RoMixer...
They are still in developing state
That script get the files that I need from that doen't need ClockworkMOD for flashing (i.e. they need odin and so on).
I'm facing some problems with the script and the real life...I don't have so much time to dedicate to the developing, both because of my life and because of the school (It is maybe time to study )
This is awesome developing.

Dear all,
I want help of you please
i am not developer i want to know only below points
1. we can port different devices rom to our device which having same chipset
2. we can port other devices rom to our e.g. samsung galaxy s4
3. if i want to make rom from scrap then any tutorial available
Please revert
i am not a developer
i want to develop something for my galaxy r becuase i dont want to loose it for some softwares
AFAIK
1. Yes
2. Yes if 1 holds. (correct me if i'm wrong)
3. this will help if you are certain to contribute towards development.
Hope it helps..!
1. Yes. The only one reasonable enough would be O2X. I tried it, but it didn't work. It uses really different nVidia libs.
2. Yes, just look at the XWLSD port. But you can't replace all libs because of the lack of NEON support. Also pay attention to the screen resolution. You will have a massive work with resizing if porting from the GS4.
3. There are many, just look into general Android dev forums, but most of them isn't applicable to the SGR.
(What Nikhil provided is a really great and huge article, hats off to the writer, but it's about application development and not porting.)

No custom ROM/kernel support for Chinese devices you know (It's from Chinese OEM with crappy MTK chipset that stuck on JB or something like that without any Open source support)...However you can install recovery for it....Head to MTK thread on XDA....
