[Q] porting - Samsung Galaxy R i9103

Dear all,
I want help of you please
i am not developer i want to know only below points
1. we can port different devices rom to our device which having same chipset
2. we can port other devices rom to our e.g. samsung galaxy s4
3. if i want to make rom from scrap then any tutorial available
Please revert
i am not a developer
i want to develop something for my galaxy r becuase i dont want to loose it for some softwares

AFAIK
1. Yes
2. Yes if 1 holds. (correct me if i'm wrong)
3. this will help if you are certain to contribute towards development.
Hope it helps..!

1. Yes. The only one reasonable enough would be O2X. I tried it, but it didn't work. It uses really different nVidia libs.
2. Yes, just look at the XWLSD port. But you can't replace all libs because of the lack of NEON support. Also pay attention to the screen resolution. You will have a massive work with resizing if porting from the GS4.
3. There are many, just look into general Android dev forums, but most of them isn't applicable to the SGR.
(What Nikhil provided is a really great and huge article, hats off to the writer, but it's about application development and not porting.)

you need to use Linux Operating system for these things because it will be easy on Linux and then you can use the file which you will use in ODIN and extract system files from it using the link given above ..

1. Use these Guides.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736177
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1742618
2. I am not sure how to do.
3 & 4 need to build your own Custom Kernel using the sources (if some thing goes wrong you will brick your device).
5. Just delete from System Folder.

hi
well, let me try to explain in a simple way.
There r many parts in a ROM, which we flash to operate our device, they r all binded together to make a working flash Rom.I'll just mention here the major ingredience of the ROM here for ur understanding, they are :-
1.Base Rom (which has OS/windows and other files of the OS/windows,it's just vanilla without any extra applications or software)
2.OEM Drivers ( drivers for Os/windows)
3.Extended Rom (For applications/software)
Extended Rom is a specified allocated portion in the main Rom,with a fixed space to install all the required application/software of ur choice e.g acrobat reader, winzip,Msn mssgr etc etc of ur choice which u want in ur device.
There is a whole thread in the forum on explaining Extended Rom.Try to search,or hit 'SEARCH' button at the top and enter Extended Rom to goto the specific thread.
Hope it has helped you
Thanks
Intresting, I quess its like another partition!
Thanks fro your time(again)

I have the t-mobile g1, android 2.2.1 and i am interested are there any flash player apks that still work on this device, because i have downloaded several apk files from variuos sources, wich according to the comments worked for people. for me they either do not install or they install and can not be opened, don't work etc. maybe somebody knows what might be the issue or sources that can still provide a working flash player file?

[SCRIPT]RomChanger & RoMixer for every android devices!!

Hi there
I'm working on a tool that let you change your ROM in about 2 minutes (even less, depending on the kernel that you have) without going into the recovery mode and WITHOUT LOSE YOUR DATA!!
That was the idea behind RomChanger.
RoMixer is different: it let you change a bit of your rom with the part taken from another one (ie. I have the Dronix[I'm talking of the Ideos U8150] rom installed on my devices, but i LOVE the FUSIONideos' framework, this tool let me install the FUSION's framework on the Dronix ROM )
The developing state is in Italian, and can be found here http://www.myppc.it/web/community/viewtopic.php?f=126&t=6490
Now I need your help...i need you to tell me what rom do you want to be available in this tool. Follow this pattern to do that:
My Smartphone:
ROM that I want available:
Topic of the ROM:
If you have a phone that doesn't use Clockwork MOD Recovery to flash a new ROM, I need you to do this:
1. Run this script with your phone connected to the PC and with the USB DEBUG ON
2. Upload the Pull folder that is been created in C:\
3. Link this folder to me
Thank you guys! I will appreciate your cooperation because I think this is a GREAT tool

Topic means the topic on the xda forum where the rom is presented. I need that because I have to write the maker of the Custom Rom.
And could you write the link for download the rom? Thank you ^^
I'm very sorry for my english, I study english only at school and I'm an 17years-old Italian guy

The script available is NOT the RomChanger or the RoMixer...
They are still in developing state
That script get the files that I need from that doen't need ClockworkMOD for flashing (i.e. they need odin and so on).
I'm facing some problems with the script and the real life...I don't have so much time to dedicate to the developing, both because of my life and because of the school (It is maybe time to study )
This is awesome developing.

[Q] what's the best tool for building rom?

Now days there are many tools that made easy to build custom roms.
1. Apktool
2.notepad ++
3. 7zip
4.Java
And many more stuffs needed to build a rom. But some problems still come up.
After building the rom many people faced and I also faced this problem. We need to make a flashable zip.
Ok. So now u have to make a meta inf folder then write the update scirpt. Ok that was easy . Then what with that update binary. How we are gonna make that. I am asking this questions to exprience developers. Cause thats what everybody face.
Then come with the deodex time. Many tools I found but I found one word error. So what will be best tool to deodex the rom?
Hope this questions will be answered. It may help starter level developers to work.
If u like this post don't forget to thanks.

This Kitchen is an automated script and i think it have all the stuff that you need

I agree with @nrpetonr, btw what are you doing my friend , you can delete every app or even destroy you android device when you have root access (just a example don't try it). So I don't think we have to delete them from UPDATE.APP

i think you can remove apps from adb. Something like :
Code:
adb root
adb uninstall [package-name]
You must have root access. Good luck

or miui v6 will be fine as well
Last week, Xiaomi released its third-party adapter tool, Patchrom, for its MIUI Android-based operating system which allows third-party developers and smartphone manufacturers to port the latest version of the operating system, MIUI 6, to non-Xiaomi devices.
