I posted this in the wrong area. Sorry, couldn't move or delete my old post.
Okay, so I have an NS4G that seems to be bricked.
What I CAN do:
Use adb in CWM recovery
Use fastboot in the bootloader
Mount /cache
flash boot and recovery
What I CANNOT do:
Mount /sdcard
Mount /system
Mount /data
flash userdata and system
I was running the CM9 nightlies and woke up in the the morning to a dead phone. All was working fine when I went to bed.
No matter what I do, I cannot mount those partitions. When I try to flash a system.img using fastboot, it hangs and never completes. I even left it for 2 hours to see what would happen. I can only flash boot.img and recovery.img and they work quickly and without error.
I continually get E:Can't mount /sdcard etc...
Is there anything I can do, or is it toast?
Also, I spent a few hours researching, and couldn't locate any help which is why I am posting here now.
Well you can do something with it so its probably not bricked, if you can flash cwm on it then try flashing custom from if any are on your SD? My phone couldn't mount anything either I just tried a few times and it finally mounted, I was lucky I guess? Worth a shot though. Sorry if I'm no help :L best of luck

I have tried many things, even tried to push something to the SD card with ADB, but it still wouldn't mount. Thanks for the quick reply, I am still trying things.
I'm no expert I'm afraid, take it you've had no luck searching through other threads? Have you tried reflashing the rom you tried initially through recovery?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Yes, I have tried just about everything under the sun that I could find. I usually find a solution to my problems here, this is the first time I could not. Thankfully I had an old Evo 4G to fall back on so I at least have a phone (it does have a charging port problem though).
I'm all out of ideas then sorry mate, best of luck

Hey man, I am in the exact same boat as you! I went to bed and woke up the next morning in my recovery! If you do find a fix, please do not hesitate to let me know! Mine hangs in the fastboot for forever as well! I have no idea what to do... I feel like I've tried everything as well!

So what happened was last night my phone died. I let it charge, went to turn it on and it wouldent boot past the htc screen. When i went into recovery it gave me this error E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log and E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log. Im pretty much confused on what to do? I tried using that recovery file PD15IMG and keep getting FAIL-PU on bootloader boot recovery system userdata splash1 and then it gets stuck on radi_v2. Before you go all bonker. If you go into the recovery image, is it still Clockwork ROM manager or is it the factory recovery image.

not being able to mount the system is 100% different than mounting the logs....
two different things. This one might not be a huge problem.
Well that is good to hear, hope you guys get it figured out.

I have a feeling they tried flashing a 2.2 ROM using 3.0.0.5 which will create problem. and since the ROMs are different styles ext3/ext4 the log is stored differently.

how do i fix then?
If you can get into recovery you might be ok. Try this.
Go online with your computer. Download a CM nightly or the rc3 release.
Plug your phone into your computer while you are in clockwork recovery.
In clockwork go to mounts and storage. On the bottom click mount USB storage. You should now see your memory card on your computer.
Copy the CM zip you downloaded to somewhere you will remember on your memory card.
After it copies.... in your phone hit unmount storage.
Now... do a full wipe. Format data system cache dalvik cache.
Now using clockwork install the CM Tom you added to your SD card.
This should redo your partitions correctly and you should be good to go.

Okay, the MyTouchHD can run Gingerbread (2.3) ROMs and they can also run FroYo (2.2) ROMs. 2.3 are ext4 designed ROMs and 2.2 are Ext3 ROMs. The reason it cannot find your you log is they are looking for them in different places. The 3.0.0.5 is looking in spot A and they are stored in Spot B and it doesn't know where to look for them.
Try reading through This thread and see if that helps you out.

Are you on tmobile? Like Neidlinger said, it is a different issue so it might be fixable. If not take it to a store maybe you can get an exchange. If you look at the one of the thread about non warranty exchange I think someone said they bought a phone off of craigslist and they were able to exchange it at T-mobile. Good luck, hope you figure something out.
I went thru the same issue with RC2.... Couldnt mount anything, everything I tried to flash just showed errors,so I just threw my hands up & waved that white flag lol..... I called tmobile told them phne wnt get past splash screen, they replaced it & that was bout a month ago & havent gotten calls or emails bout voiding warranty so cross my fingers they never charge lol...i have cwr 3.0.0.6 now so hoping this dnt EVER happen again....

Flash a ROM which is rooted

Hey guys, I rooted my friends G2x and everything went fine until I flashed the ROM. Like an idiot, I did not make a nandroid backup...I downloaded BionixReloaded and up it on the sd card. Rebooted to recovery and went through the usual steps. I did a factory reset and formatted the system. However, when I went to flash the ROM, I got the "E: Can't open /sdcard/zROM/*name of ROM*.zip (bad). Now the phone won't reboot which I'm assuming is from formatting the system. I can still get into recovery and download mode....will this method fix the problem? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644#
Like I said, I'm not very familiar with the G2x, so any help be be appreciated!
I cannot remember for the life of me remember what that error means, but you can just re-download the rom you want and place it in the sdcard by mounting USB storage through mounts and system, and then flash.

Make sure the Rom.zip isn't named Rom.zip.zip. if so rename correctly, also can check md5 of the zip to ensure its a good download prior to flashing.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses. I'm guessing it boiled down to a bad download, but for some reason I could not connect via USB from recovery on my laptop, so I brought it to my friends house and was able to get it to connect so I redownloaded the ROM along with another incase I got the same error, but it worked flawlessly. Thanks again to all that offered help instead of sending me a useless link via LMGTFY!
hey i know im probably posting in the wrong thread but here it goes..this happened yesterday morning in my truck (cable guy). The phone started bootlooping on the samsung screen, i didnt panic, i just hooked it up to my laptop and used heimdall to get it to stock so i can reflash, i figured maybe just a bad flash. Well i was doing all the heimdalls out there, all the odins that i thought might work, i did everything imaginable. The problem im having is now when i try to get up the stock recovery it says the following.
E: failed to mount /data invalid arguements, and during this whole frantic period i got alot of errors with the E: drive on my phone.
I posted on this thread because i look at it religiously and trust the people that i see on her and think you guys are genius'. From what i read its something with the partitionms on the internal hard drive. any insight would be awesome cuz i love the jelly bean rom right now..If i put my battery in it automatically goes to samsung boot screen without me even pressing anything, then will bootloop a few times then go to att boot animation and just bootloop on that.. Please Help i cannot deal with the blackberry torch i had to fall back!

ok, I will take a swing at this, since you have had 124 views and not one reply...:crying:
Did you do a factory reset and format int sd after you went back to stock?
I would do the one click again and do a factory reset with a formating of int sd.
I was going suggest redoing the whole stock and repartition thing.
1. get all the pics, data, files, mms off the phone and back it up
2. find /voodoo on your sdcard and delete it
3. boot into cwm and factory reset
4. heimdall uclb3 or uckj4 - with boot loaders flash
5. flash your custom kernel and then follow ics/jb op's

Hi guys, Im a long time fan/reader, but I've never had a reason to post.. Well, now Ive got trouble with my Charge, and thought this would be a good last ditch effort before I scrap it.
Basically, my phone wont boot at all, and I cant get an ODIN to go through. Most of them fail at movinand.bin. Anyway, I finally got to clockwork recovery 4.0.1.4 (I got here from an ODIN, but the phone wont get past it.)
It says
E: Cant mount / cache /recovery /command
E: Cant mount / cache /recovery /log
E: Cant open / cache /recovery /log
E: Cant mount / cache /recovery /last_log
E: Cant open / cache /recovery/ last_log
Sometimes I get a female robot voice telling me there isnt enough space on partition, too....even though I've ODIN'd and repartitioned it 100 times in the past week. I've tried at least 20 .md5 files. Im normally pretty self sufficient, even though I cant code, but I just ant figure this out. Does anyone have any insight?

Any specific recomendations, sasquatch? I ask because I already tried flashing tweaked.
Is the movinand.bin file significant for some specific reason? Why does it always fail there?
I assume you don't have a nand backup of your previous set up? Were you on ext4 or rfs? Fp1 fp5? And last question hoe did you get in this mess?

Dude. I dont even know. No, I dont have a nandroid, and I was on Tweaked 3.0 when it happened. I was having problems, it was turning off and on, and then it booted completely, but it didnt boot normally, it booted from the day I started the rom, it asked me to sign in to google and everything, then I tried to restart it hoping it would go back to normal, and then it gave me errors. So I tried to go back to stock, to no avail.

No idea what movinand is... 186mb file. Factoryfs.rfs is the /system image so if that fails it's probably corrupted NAND
FWIW it is only in stock ODIN images, not the tweaked ones (Only one in tweaked is Factoryfs.rfs)
Odin cwm 0320 boot into recovery and flash tweaked 3.0 rom only. Try that. That should be the blue cwm. Might be 0302 can't remember. Its at imnuts cwm thread over rootz.

Prolly because GummyCharged is freakin old. Since you tried to Odin an old build you'll need to Odin Tweaked rather than CWMing it.
Out of curiosity, do you put the battery back in after you have it connected into download mode? You'll need that...

Yeah, I sure do man. As far as flashing tweaked from cwm, that's not going to work since it won't mount my SD to get to an update file. I've already tried to Odin tweaked. No dice.

How did you flash tweaked in the first place? Maybe SD card bad? If Odin failed then it shouldn't have changed anything. Which stock file did you use? Bad pit file download? I've used imnuts stock file and pit file flawlessly all the time.

There's a little instructional bit on the mount-sdcard-via-adb approach in the CWM thread - when I did it I did it while in CWM recovery.
While I may be wrong movinand.bin is akin to the /data partition, although I'm pretty sure it includes things outside of just the /data partition (maybe the preinstall stuff? Not sure really). I hope you get things worked out!
When you Odin make sure you leave in the battery... It worked for me.

Hey guys,
Just experienced what I think is a soft brick. I know that this has been talked about a dozen times, and I have searched. I just want a more experienced yes or no to be sure.
Basically, last night I tried flashing PAndroid on my skyrocket and I went through the format system, format data, factory reset, and wipe cache. Then when I went into flash a zip it said something to the effect of "E: Can't access SD Card". So then I tried to use my band road but that also gave me the error. I then tried to mount the SD card, but it gave me another error. So, guessing that it would just factory reset me, I rebooted.
Now, my phone will vibrate and flash the Samsung logo before going to a black screen (but the screen is on). It also had the symptom of sticky power button for a while with the few second interval buzzing, but I jammed the power button and it seemed to stop doing that and is now doing the aforementioned thing instead.
Should I go use Vincom's soft Brick guide? Also, does anyone have a link to a 7zip extractor that isn't riddled with viruses? (had a hell of a time getting rid of them the first time I rooted haha)
Again, I know this is probably a fairly obvious answer, but yall have just been so helpful in the past that it makes me want to come here before just winging it. And I'm really nervous with this being my first time haha.
Thanks a lot guys, yall are the best!

You wiped system. That's why nothing is happening. You should still be able to enter recovery. Now why your recovery was giving you that error is a different story. Go to recovery and copy the version down here.

Okay, I managed to get into recovery, but I'm still getting the error about the SD card not being mounted. I was looking on Google and I found two different solutions. One was to re flash CWM with Odin, but would that mess up my phone because it already has CWM on it? The other was to reformat my SD card on the computer, but I have no honest idea how to do that haha.
