GUYS HELP PLEASE I nullifed my device, left it on all night (unplugged) because I fell asleep. Now, I can't boot to CWM.. I've tried to install stock recovery, but once I turn it on it just stays on the plain, white LG logo. If I hold down volume down + power buttons the same thing happens. Can you guys help me please. I hope I didn't permanently brick my G2X.

Next time read the little part which is in big bold letters about not turning off your phone with out flashing a ROM or restoring a nandroid immediately afterward.

Flash a ROM which is rooted
Sent from my LG-P999
Hey guys, I rooted my friends G2x and everything went fine until I flashed the ROM. Like an idiot, I did not make a nandroid backup...I downloaded BionixReloaded and up it on the sd card. Rebooted to recovery and went through the usual steps. I did a factory reset and formatted the system. However, when I went to flash the ROM, I got the "E: Can't open /sdcard/zROM/*name of ROM*.zip (bad). Now the phone won't reboot which I'm assuming is from formatting the system. I can still get into recovery and download mode....will this method fix the problem? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1248644#
Like I said, I'm not very familiar with the G2x, so any help be be appreciated!
I cannot remember for the life of me remember what that error means, but you can just re-download the rom you want and place it in the sdcard by mounting USB storage through mounts and system, and then flash.

Make sure the Rom.zip isn't named Rom.zip.zip. if so rename correctly, also can check md5 of the zip to ensure its a good download prior to flashing.

Thanks everyone for the quick responses. I'm guessing it boiled down to a bad download, but for some reason I could not connect via USB from recovery on my laptop, so I brought it to my friends house and was able to get it to connect so I redownloaded the ROM along with another incase I got the same error, but it worked flawlessly. Thanks again to all that offered help instead of sending me a useless link via LMGTFY!

What does it say on your phone
If the phone boots to anything, your not bricked.
Sounds like your trying to flash it the wrong way or something? Download the ROM you want, put it on your SD, you can mount from CWM if you cant boot past recovery.
Wipe/factory data reset
Then install from zip
Select your ROM and your on your way
Well first the S/W updating screen, then unplug the phone put the battery and reboot to CWM and when im going to do a restore/backup it always says wrong image or no image file or no file or m5 something as for now i cant do nothing to restore my phone.
I have seen where that happens at times, where you cant restore someone else's backup. If you have access to a pc, just download a new ROM. BTW, Gingerbread is far more stable on my phone then any FROYO was

not a problem. the brother above is right, it sounds like you are trying to flash the nandroid restore instead of flashing a rom. I apologize for not making more clear when I sent you the post. You can actually restore that but you dont flash from zip you go to backup/restore and choose restore for that file in that post.
1. You must have ROM Manager installed and or ClockworkMod Recovery flashed and an external sdcard installed. Then have the directory and file contents of the "LG-P999-V10f.rar" file extracted to your external SDCard in the _ExternalSD/clockworkmod/backup/ directory.
2. Run ROM Manager and choose Reboot into Recovery or boot phone into clockworkmod recovery.
3. In recovery go down to backup and restore, choose restore.
4. Select LG-P999-V10f and choose Yes - Restore.
5. When the restore finishes do not reboot yet. Do a "wipe data/factory reset" from the recovery menu.
6. When it completes choose Reboot.

Glad you got it worked out. The x-boarders stock tweaked is really nice and very stable. Its probably the best IMO. I also like the AOSP by Faux combined with his OC kernel is really nice also. There is also another I have been hearing alot about that seems to be really nice with alot of custom options and tweaks and thats called Weapon. Happy Flashing
Thanks a lot im going to check them out!!!
One more question??
When i go to the sounds menu on the ringtones they appear three times all the sounds, why is that??
Sounds like you have an older SD you may have used in another device? You most likely have them on your SD a few times under Audio or something IIRC
Maybe who knows jeje, but i just flash a froyo rom and it fixed so no worries.
ok, so a few days ago i was flashing the G2x weapon rom onto my rooted G2x, but while i was in the clockwork mod to flash it it froze on me, i left it like that for an hour or so, but it didnt work, so i took the battery out. now whenever i turn it on, it loads the LG screen, then nothing, the screen stays turned on, but its black, ive tried to boot it into recovery mode but that does not work either. What should i do?
Did you do One-Click NVFlash>? if u used Rom Manager you probably fake flashed and thats why its not working for you. You should use NVflash followt he steps and boot up into recover and restore a back up. GOod Luck
thanks ill try that

This was written for Windows users, I followed this one myself, pretty straight-forward, and "idiot proof". (If anything can be truly idiot proof. Cynical, who, me?)
so, ive flashed my phone through nvflash and i got clockwork mod up and running, but whenever i select the file to flash that is on my SD card, it says no files found. i even tried going to my backup on the clockwork file, and nothing.

Since changing to Nvflash, did you download the rom you want to install and transfer it to the phone from your computer. Using Rom Manager it may not have left a copy on your phone.
If you cant hook up the SD card to the computer, get an external SD card and make sure u've installed clockwordmod with external sd, hook it up to a laptop with an SD card slot, and put it in , then take the mini sd and pop it in your phone, then boot up and that should do it good luck! atleast now your 1 step closer to recovering your phone
Ughh hate,seeing this happen...hope u flashed nV..all the best

No you did not brick your phone. Rom manager downloads the file to sdcard/clockworkmod/downloads. Look there for the file. Only if you download a rom from your browser does it go to externalsdcard/downloads

When you selected 'Flash Clockworkmod Recovery', did it pop up LG Optimus 2x rather than Optimus 3D? I think that's what happened and you're not supposed to do that because your phone will no longer boot... you'll have to try the recovery instructions here.
First you should root.
Download CWM and install recovery.

My phone battery died last night, so I plugged it in and let it charge for 10 min then when I went to power it on, after the second samsung logo it shuts off and restarts, I boot into recovery and ive tried doing a factory reset and when it tries to format it crashes, and restarts about 5 seconds after saying formatting...
I was running a embryo rom, cant remember which one...
Any help is appreciated. I've looked around and cant seem to find much to help me so far.
Can you do a fresh install over top the existing ROM? Instead of trying to salvage the existing ROM.
Can you mount the USB in recovery?

Can you put the phone in download mode? If so, restore to stock from there. Format your SD cards, internal and external, as well, and make sure to wipe x3 so any damaged remnants are swept away.

BEFORE YOU DO THAT, a few quick notes and thoughts:
1. Don't ever mess around in recovery/download if you don't know what you're doing. If you're not sure how you "got it there" or "what to do from this point," you don't know what you're doing. Read or brick.
2. Looking back at your first post, a couple of thoughts occur to me. One, are you trying to use recovery while plugged in? That can sometimes cause things to mess up, especially if you're plugged in while going into recovery. Wouldn't cause a bootloop though.
3. CWM 5.8.4.3 was a troublemaker, if I recall correctly. Are you on CWM touch, or CWM button-masher? CWM button-masher has a history of doing bad things to Skyrockets.
4. If your phone is not successfully completing the factory reset and you're not sure which ROM you're running, what in God's name made you think flashing a ROM on top of what's there was a good idea?
99.9999999% this is not a ROM problem. Lots of people are using the Embryo family without bootlooping on a battery charge, so I'm inclined to believe it's something else.
Restore to stock and pray, bud. Too many red flags for me to chalk this up to anything other than user error. Sorry.

Not using recovery while plugged in.
Not using CWM touch.
I couldn't recall the ROM when I wrote the OP, its stated in one of my replies. I tried re-flashing the rom that I had on my SD card (the one I had when everything went wrong).
Not sure how it could be user error when I have not messed with anything before my problem and since then all I have tried doing is reinstalling the rom, and when that didn't work I tried wipe data\factory reset.
So far I haven't done anything that was not recommended.
I am downloading the stock firmware now and I will use ODIN to flash and let you all know how it goes.
Thanks for the help so far.
Fixed!
I didn't lose anything, just my rom. Sweet.
I expected to lose my stuff, thats great news.
Thank you very much.
Now to reply to the million messages I got while my phone was down...
When in doubt, restore to stock.
Seriously though, I'm really glad you brought it back. If you're going to flash/mod/whatever, please, for your own sake, read through the stickies here. It'll take you a couple hours or so to do, and it'll save you from turning your phone into a paperweight later. And get rid of that non-touch CWM lol! sk8rwitskiis does a great version of CWM Touch for our Skyrockets, and TWRP is an excellent recovery as well.

Will do. Thanks again.
Hey guys,
Just experienced what I think is a soft brick. I know that this has been talked about a dozen times, and I have searched. I just want a more experienced yes or no to be sure.
Basically, last night I tried flashing PAndroid on my skyrocket and I went through the format system, format data, factory reset, and wipe cache. Then when I went into flash a zip it said something to the effect of "E: Can't access SD Card". So then I tried to use my band road but that also gave me the error. I then tried to mount the SD card, but it gave me another error. So, guessing that it would just factory reset me, I rebooted.
Now, my phone will vibrate and flash the Samsung logo before going to a black screen (but the screen is on). It also had the symptom of sticky power button for a while with the few second interval buzzing, but I jammed the power button and it seemed to stop doing that and is now doing the aforementioned thing instead.
Should I go use Vincom's soft Brick guide? Also, does anyone have a link to a 7zip extractor that isn't riddled with viruses? (had a hell of a time getting rid of them the first time I rooted haha)
Again, I know this is probably a fairly obvious answer, but yall have just been so helpful in the past that it makes me want to come here before just winging it. And I'm really nervous with this being my first time haha.
Thanks a lot guys, yall are the best!

Okay, I managed to get into recovery, but I'm still getting the error about the SD card not being mounted. I was looking on Google and I found two different solutions. One was to re flash CWM with Odin, but would that mess up my phone because it already has CWM on it? The other was to reformat my SD card on the computer, but I have no honest idea how to do that haha.
