[Q] Ruu Shooter hboot downgrading help. - General Questions and Answers

I'm trying to root my phone and its very frustrating because I am new to all of this and I'm trying to learn everything as I go. I may have a very simple problem but for me its just not clicking! I was in the middle of rooting my evo 3d which was going fine until i realized i had to down grade hboot 1.5 to 1.4, SO, I have been following a tutorial on htcevohacks and am stuck!
When I copy the Ruu Shooter file to my sd card it wont unzip correctly and I get this error message saying "access to the compressed (zipfolder) is denied." I thought it might be a bad download so I have tried numerous sources and older versions. Nothing is working and I'm losing my mind. Like I said I am learning so I don't even comprehend the problem.

See here to make sure you're doing everything correctly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547695.

The first step is where I'm stuck I guess. I cant post a screenshot of the erroe message I get because I'm brand new here. The zip file that I need to copy to my sd card get denied. I have done that and tried different files but when I reboot it checks the PG86IMG.zip file then takes me to the boot screen and NOT the screen where I have the option to update HTC
I put the screen shot on imgur the title is RUU Shooter zip file

i know im a noob but im really trying. im reading up on as much as I can do I HAVE to have linux OS for this to work?

Yes. You could just run it from a live CD. Also, you could try a different SD card.

Issues loading WM6 rom

I've tried installing the file using the bootloader method countless times now and every time I get a coloured screen with "Serial" at the bottom and some text up the top.
I've tried the card as it was when I got it, Tried it formatted FAT32 with windows, tried it formatted with Resco on the device, etc. It's definitely FAT32.
When I open any of the 3 .exe files from Palm in winzip or winrar there are two .nbh files (CHEEIMG.nbh and CHEEIMG_FW.nbh) one is ~263kb and one is ~85MB.
From everything I have read so far I ignore the correctly named small one (CHEEIMG.nbh) and copy the big one (CHEEIMG_FW.nbh) to the SD card - once thats done I rename it to CHEEIMG.nbh and I should be good to go - start the bootloader and it should work but it's just not happening.
Am I missing something? I just can't get it to work. I've tried the 3, vodafone and generic (ROW) files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT:
I'm currently running TREO750-1.15-ROW
Firmware: 1.27.3b.00
Cheers
As far as I understand all this you have to run Hard-SPL first, otherwise your device won't load "foreign" roms.
hmm ok I'll try that but since it's a ROW to ROW update I thought it's not a foreign ROM?

I think you can flash all official and leaked without Hard-SPL... It's needed for cooked roms.
surely I shouldn't need it for the bootloader method?
Anyone got any ideas that may help me upgrade?

Impossible to root myTouch3G (Fender Edition)

I seem to be having tons of problems rooting my device.
It was released 1/20/10, I think it has stuff that makes me not be able to do so.
With this information can someone direct me to an appropriate SPL, I already tried "ROM v2.53.707.2 (Engineerings SPL v1.33.2010) - MD5 : F9674D19BE5F949D0D9DC99714D210E3" It said "invalid device" "update fail"

u need to get Amon Recovery running on the phone before u can update to the 1.33.2010 ENG SPL. Theres afew diff ways of doing this.
(1)I did it by installing the android devvelopment kit (note u need to install java then update the kit), after setting it up then install windows usb drivers for Androidso that your computer detects the phone as an adb device (not a storage device) then using Dos CMD prompt type "fastboot boot recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.5.2H.img" while in fastboot mode (which u need to download). your phone will not have the amon recovery installed on the phone at this time but it will boot from your PC through to your phone. Kinda neat. use that recovery to flash the 2010 SPL. Once 2010 spl is flashed u r good as gold to flash any new custom recovery and or rom.
(2) If u don't understand all of this try relentless rooter which can be downloaded from XDA here
(3) youtube guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8BZYEBsSws
Try #3 to some point although u have to change few files because he has a 32B board and u have a 32A.
First decide on a method then ask afew more questions. Help will be just around the corner here
relentless rooter
When i first started using this program it gave me a lot of DOS file not found errors clicking on the buttons so then I took the entire tools folder and lumped it into the relentless rooter program which was calling for like c:/rooter and c:/rooter/root respectively.
I have usb drivers button fine, usb device shows device attached, root files pushes files over to my SDCARD, fastboot seems to be my problem i click it and it says "waiting for device" and just sits.. ugh.. help?
COuld you try and get a dump off the phone?
I was just on my way to the tmobile shop to get one of these and came here to see if people had problems. They are updating it to 2.1 in about may.... but Id like to know if its rootable before I go spend $200 for a pretty phone
Having the same problem here. Seems as though it says Invaild ID when trying to downgrade. ANy help witht his would b great. SO much new reading from the g1 to this.. I dont understand half of it.

We should stick together on this one since we are both having the same issue man! I also have the same problem! When I tried other SPL's to downgrade after no luck with one with a higher number than the one installed I get errors like "invalid id" etc...
I really feel as though all of these SPL's won't apply to us since we have 32A boards on "old radios" as I have read so far.
I am not even able to do the "one-click" root because I follow videos/tutorials to a T and mine always says "backup failed" and the top is always greyed out without me able to click it. Even if i touch to the right of the bottom button and get the top button to light up it still says backup failed or flash failed. It's not happening. I wish we had some attention on this.
I rooted the G1 EASILY i'm quite capable of doing this but im getting errors everywhere like a shot up R2D2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=579328
Followed those instructions to a T and got "invalid model ID!" after trying to apply sappimg.nbh..
I had issues using the one touch root on my Rogers htc magic that i got about a month ago. It kept saying backup failed so i tried the older version of the one touch root software. It again said backup failed so i kinda poked around at my phone and and rebooted it then tried it again and it managed to backup everything. So i would keep poking with the one touch root and try one of the older versions.
You guys need to understand that this device is a 32A Magic.
The radio version can be 3.22 or 2.22, but it's still 32A.
You will need to goldcard this phone if you expect any results. If you are 100% sure that the goldcard method has failed, then you have to wait until the phone is rooted by other means.
(I have a 32A Magic that I have installed the Fender Edition 2.22 radio onto. I was able to flash the Fender Edition ROM with no issues. That leads me to believe that the Fender Edition MyTouch is the very first 32A Magic shipped with a 1.6 Donut OS)
I do not own a Fender MyTouch, so I am by no means an expert, but I want to help steer your discussions towards a proper solution for rooting the phone. (If anyone wants to send me a Fender MyTouch, go ahead )

I tried creating a goldcard, I have the 16gb sandisk, 4gb sandisk, and a 2gb kingston.
I tried all of the cards following these methods, but when I insert it into the phone it says "damaged sd card" I have to format and try again or what?
I used the kingston solely because a person had luck with it. I got my goldcard.img made 2 zeros in the CID, did offsets correctly pasted and saved. what am I doing wrong?
What I have been doing is using the mytouch, mounting the sd card, and doing it like that since I do not have an SDcard reader on my desktop computer, but i dont think that would mess anything up. get back to me, I want to try goldcard since you had luck with it and the fedner, please!

Nope.. your doing it correctly. I have had the same results. tried 2 8gb, a 4gb, a 2gb and the 16gb it came with.. a no go on any of them for a gold card. guess Ill just have to live with it till somethign else comes along and figures it out.

experience from the forum shows that most people go wrong on this step:
16) Install and launch HxD Hex Editor program
17) Go to Extra tab > Open Disk. Under Physical disk, select Removable Disk (Must be your SD card), uncheck “Open as Readonly), click OK.
people seems to be selecting "Logical Disk" (i think thats the other option, please corect me if im wrong) instead of "Physical Disk", there for getting the "damaged sd card" error

Nope.. There is open.. Open Disk and open disk image. I was up till 3am trying each sd card over and over with same results. But now knowing that the SPL is hiher then the downgragables I belive we are just going to have to wait till these are out more. Unfourtunatly, it being a limited edition... we may be screwed lol. Ive got another pc and 2 last sd cards to try today. lol Ive even got a 32mb one... and if that one is the only one that takes the hex edit ill be so mad lol cause it wont fit the nbh file.
EDIT- IM SUCH A DUMBASS lol.. I see what you meant by logical and physical now. I had been clicking logical disk allllll night and always having to reformat the card. Then.. since it was so late when I was doing this, Ikept using the same goldcard.img for all the sd cards lol. So I tried again today, made the gol card correctly and it still was found by the PC... But it stlll gives device error as before. Ill go through getting the cid # from the other cards later when im bored.
My main problems with now not wanting to root this phone...
1. The music player will be gone.. it is nice.
2. 2.0/2.1 is supposed to be offcialy released for it within the next few weeks according to 2 of the Tmobile guys I alked to, one being the regional manager.
If anyone figures it out im all for trying to again.... But for now Ill learn to live with my vanilla dounut. Mmmmm Vanilla Doughnuts
lol
But I cant ever give up on anythign like this so I give it about 5min before im bored enough to start again.

Dude im dying every day staying up until 3am as well trying to pwn this phone. I go to bed sleep, wake up, and sign onto xda to see wtf is what. It's like another dude somewhere out there is having the SAME issues.
I work for t-mo as I said, I have not heard about any new OS plans for fender edition mytouch / mytouch 3g.
Im 100% positive that im creating goldcard correctly, I have 3 unique CID's that I reverse, replace with two zeros, use the correct image, open and uncheck read only on the removable disk, open goldcard, copy offset 00-0017 (however many zeros it said, copy paste save, close) plug back in, "you need to format this card" -windows "damaged sd card" -mytouch.

The press release from tmobile states that 2.1 will be coming to all devices that will support it. Meaning without root size wise, which Im thinking may toss the g1 out for 2.1, but maybe not 2.0. But I was specifly told also that 2.1 will be released for this mytouch, and it is also, obviously, the first to be released with 1.6 donut on it.
Also.. When you get the format disk error.. are you looking down the list on the **** drive to the bottom where it says Physical/removable? I found that the only time it gives me the format error is when I open it in hex where it says Logical rather then physical. If you go to the bottom and hit the physical one, and paste and save I can still open the sd card on the pc and phone.... BUT, it still will not downgrade.
EDIT- Since im still new to this.... Ive noticed that most rooting takes downgrading first. Now, does this mean that the ohones NAND's are set up like say the PSP where the IPL files can be changed to only allow certain firmware? Can it be that having the first phone with a base rom of 1.6 make it to where we cant go down past 1.6? Im still teetering on weather I should put it back in the box and use my G1 till the offcial 2.0/2.1 comes out or keep trying. But I woul dhate damaging it trying to get it to do something it cant.
Thanks to anyone else who gets one to test, I I had the money I would buy a dev one just for this purpose.

If you are referring to the Fender edition as "the first to be released with 1.6 donut on it" then you are incorrect.
I have a non fender edition that I purchased 2 weeks ago with donut 1.6, DCR92 build.
Apparently there are some rooting issues with DCR92/1.6donut/1.33.0007spl....from what I understand.

my SPL ends with 0013, not sure how much of a diffrence that makes. But I honestly thought i read in these forums that this was the first made with 1.6 and not updated to. but maybe I read wrong. All I know is that no trick works as of yet. Ill start again tonight when the kids go to sleep, but for it being a 32a board, I dont really see to many roms I wana try lol
So when you make the gold card does your phone read it or it stops before it loads the file from it? it sounds like the gold card is not created corectly...
The android version is irelevant so is the radio. to load anything, you need engeneering SPL. That will allow you to load any image,(radio,boot,recovery,system...) fastboot with full functionality.

it goes through most of the process of reading the sappimg file and once the prgress bar reaches the end and it goes through checking and all that it stops with the error. Also trying to get into fastboot it give the error that a perfected spl gives so done on both accounts. Ive now made what I think is a working goldcard but dont know if I want to proceed if im going to destroy it if I can get anything back on it.
also... I think im done with it for now till a smarted person gets this done. I really believe that this 1.6 version is a bit different then others, and also the spl seems to be a pain in the arse. I really cant afford a bricked phone, much less one I waited a very long time to get. I tried lol, but in the end my ADD defeated me.

unable to downgrade from 2.3.4

I have a My Touch 4G currently running 2.3.4 that I want to downgrade to 2.2.1 so I can root it. I am unable to get it to take the PD15IMG.zip to take once I hit the bootloader. It says its extracting fine, but the phone never reboots and if I manual reboot it, it boots up on 2.3.4.
I was using the following instructions.. cyanomod instructions and I did everything fine but get stuck with step 8.
Here is a copy of my ABD session:
Open to any suggestions.. I did some searches but no luck.
I tried to paste the URLs for the pastebin and the instructions I used but was blocked because of the stupid spam rules for newbies.. so PM me and ill send them to you.
Also as you can see I have been a member for over a year now, I just do a lot of lurker so I don't post much. I usually can find my answer searching without asking but I am stumped on this one.
This exact same thing happened to me.
The problem was that ADB wasn't pushing the entire PD15IMG file to the SD card. Every time I tried it it was missing exactly 53 bytes. (You can check this by looking at the file size of the PD15IMG on your hard drive and see if it file size matched EXACTLY on your SD card down to the single byte.)
I fixed it my using the file manager on my computer to just drag and drop the PD15IMG file onto the SD card. For some reason that transferred the entire file without problem.
I ran through the steps again and viola, 2.2.1 upon reboot.
You might also have a corrupted PD15IMG file. You can fix that by re-downloading the file, preferably from a different source just in case.
why u need downgrade 2.2.1 ?
@skipjacks - ill try that, on the 2nd attempt at it yesterday I manually copied of the file over after I downloaded it from another source, yet it still would not upgrade. I will give it a 3rd shot and report back.
@Ridofu - I am tried of having the HTC offical software crashing on me. I would like to root and then install CM7.1
Same thing..
I downloaded PD15IMG.zip manually over the HTC E:\ drive I have mounted.. did all the commands again, went to bootloader, it says it installs but then never reboots or does anything...
the image say loading, and I see a blue bar on the right top corner... then it switches to checking with a yellow/orange bar in the right top corner..
then it just goes back to the main screen and doesn't do anything..
all i see is fastboot, recover, factory reset, simlock, image crc
Id love to run the adb shell md4sum /sdcard/PD15IMG.zip but everytime I run it it comes back with md5sum: not found
Any ideas?
How I rooted my MT4G
Try this guide:
http://androidrootking.blogspot.com/2011/10/how-to-root-your-mytouch-4g-original_12.html
This is a step-by-step guide to root your MT4G. It has a link to another guide that will help you downgrade your phone.
You must downgrade FIRST, in order to root, because the root tool (gfree) DOES NOT WORK with Android 2.3, it only works with 2.1.
If you really like GingerBread, and want to keep root, go here AFTER you're rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264704

Do you have MicroSD card reader in/for your PC?
Try to use it instead of copying the file through the phone.
@Ericm301 that is the exact method I have followed and it does not work. I have done the Push method, I have done the copy via USB cable to the E:\ drive that is mounted and neither allow me go to bootloader and load the file.
@Jack_R1 I will try getting a Micro usb adapter and copying the file over as well.
I tried taking the SD card and copying the file manually, I also tried to use the file from a 3rd source. It will not downgrade. I can post a video if you want to see it fail.
Just wanted to give a update. I did the manual downgrade 2 or 3 more times and I finally gave up on it.. then I switched to Fastboot Downgrade method and it worked perfectly the 1st time..
man what a frustration!

[Q] At the end of my rope.

Hello everyone, I am in need of serious help. I have the Verizon Galaxy S3 4.3 and I have hardbricked the device. The phone is completely unresponsive.
I will attempt to give all the details of how I came to this without boring everyone to death with inane facts. So here goes; I first rooted the phone around November. Used Odin, had ClockworkMod installed and even managed to teach myself (with the help of folks like you all here), how to circumvent Verizon's pesky bootloaders (both unlocked and then relocked). Everything was running smoothly until I had left my phone unattended and plugged into my computer. The Verizon updater forced 4.3 on me leaving me scrambling to figure out to to regain root access. I did manage to gain the root access (although, I'm not 100% sure how so) and once again, everything was fine.
I began using TitaniumBackup to starting removing some bloatware and moving system apps to the SD card. I decided that I had no use for the "Samsung Link" app and I removed it. Once I returned from the reboot, I noticed that the icon for the bootloader was on the screen indicating that it was unlocked. I the did a quick search and app file for the "EZ Unlock" app. I installed the file, ran the program, did and reset and DEAD. Nothing. I've sat at the PC for the better part of the last 24 hours, have read hundreds of posts and tried more methods than I care to count. So far nothing has worked.
I'm desperately hoping that I will be able to find my answers by reaching out to the community as I have no funds to send my phone anywhere and I am past the warranty period. You guys are probably my last hope. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps out. It means a lot.

I doubt you'll bore us here, after all we dwell in the minutiae and tiniest of details for fun. Hmm, from what I see you have a bootloader hard brick since you tried using EZ Unlock. TW 4.3 prevents downgrading the rom to pre-4.3, flashing an unlocked bootloader, and installing a custom recovery using 4.1.2 methods. Your best option will be to try the steps detailed in this bootloader/hardbrick thread by SpyroDazee.

No. Once I used EZ Unlock, I was bricked.

I've looked at this particular guide the most. Where I fail there is the post calls to use Win32diskimager with the unzipped debrick.bin. I cant get Win32 to recognize the file and get error code 5: need permission (or something like that) and I run the program in Admin mode.
The only file I've found so far that Win32 does actually write to my SD card is Debrick-i535.img. http://angelfirenetworks.servegame.com/XDA/S3 Debrick IMG_s/
And then I can seem to make that run either.
I also have bricked S3 different circumstances but still hard bricked. Nothing I've tried here on xda or anywhere else has worked. I'm going to try this http://www.ebay.com/itm/281217379767?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 . It is probably the cheapest and easiest way.

It usually takes a few tries to get it to work, but if you really can't then you can always send it in for a jtag repair.
Mobile tech videos will do it, and there's someone on eBay who will do it for $30. Not too expensive.

So I just downloaded the debrick.zip and Win32 program from my link onto my laptop. I saved the unzipped debrick folder onto my desktop and found the debrick.bin once I switched the "Files of type" to "." then I just wrote the debrick.bin to a 512 mb sdcard with no problems. I'm not going any further cuz I have no need for this though. Are you saying that Win32 doesn't find the bin file at all?
Edit: I just ran it again and it worked a second time. My backup laptop is a 2006ish (maybe older) with a very outdated version of Windows and my sdcard has been unused since 2008. I don't know what else to tell you but it worked surprisingly well for me.

The Win32 program finds the debrick.bin file when I switch to "." as well. But when I click WRITE, I get an error message and the file doesnt't write to the sd card. I'm using a HP Windows 7 Pro (2009) and I have a 32gb, class 10 sd card. I will run it again to double check.
Follow Up: I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was attempting to pull the "bin" file through Win32 and should have been pulling the "zip" file instead. I was able to write the debrick.zip file onto my SD card but wasn't (on first attempt) able to load my phone. Are there any other steps I may have misunderstood or overlooked?

Have you tried formatting the sdcard and running the program again? Set it to Fat32. I'm thinking it may be the sdcard and not the program itself but I'm not certain.

VICTORY!!!!!!! - I made several mistakes in getting to this point but i have successfully retrieved my phone from it's previous HardBrick status. The steps it took me to get to this point were, make sure the sd card is formatted (FAT32) and empty, unzip the debrick.zip file, run the Win32 program, select the unzipped debrick.bin file and upload it to the F drive, then click Write. So, more or less, exactly what the instructions told me to do. Sometimes, it's the simple things that we're most often missing or not understanding.
THANK YOU to everyone and especially SlimSnoopOS for talking me through it and SpyroDazee for making such a comprehensive guide to work with. (although, it's simplicity was too complex for me. ).

Haha I love the enthusiasm my friend! Great way to start the weekend! All it took was another perspective, it's all good. You are most definitely welcome.

I'm not turning away knowledge. I'm still very new to this and obviously have a hard time following directions. I was looking at the next steps on that guide and am all ready confused enough to not do anything yet.
What is your phone doing after you inserted your sdcard and what size card and class were they. If you got it to go into download mode or some call it Odin mode by pressing volume down, home button and power button then your off to a great start to bringing your phone back from the dead. If only it worked for mine
Where did you get the debrick.zip file? Every time I download the file it comes as debrick.img not a .zip

Edit: My SD Card is a 32gb class 10. Once I got Win32 to extract the file properly, I put the SD card back into the phone, put the battery in, and plugged phone into computer. Pushed the power button and the phone came back on.
When you go to download that file with Win32, change the file type to "." - then you'll be able to select the debrick.zip
All files were obtained here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581166
I hope that helps.

They did exactly what I posted, which was: unzip the debrick.zip, open Win32 and change the file type to ".", find the unzipped debrick folder and select the debrick.bin, and write to the sdcard.

Did you brick BEFORE 4.3? I hovered over this link in SpyroDazee's post: "Debrick if you bricked before 4.3 OTA" and that's the only one that would download as an IMG. Press "Debrick if you took the 4.3 OTA" and it will download as a zip.
Or change the browser that you're using. I downloaded it using Chrome on my MBP.

I did brick on 4.1.2 and I am using chrome as my default browser

Rom size errors

After an extensive search of both this site and using google for the error, I am stuck at a crossroads in terms of trying to install the GPE DigitalHigh edition on my HTC One M8.
The issue is as follows:
Installed RUU of GPE 5.1 (this is the only RUU I have at present)
Did all the various system & cache wipes etc using TWRP
Did the filesize repair on System
Tried to install the above ROM using the installer and got the following error:
failed to mkdir /system/etc/firmware/wcd9320/wcd9320_mbhc.bin: No space left on device
And then the various symlink errors associated and an Installation Status 7 Failed
Now I get the issue, in that the /system folder is clearly not big enough, an issue with the GPE RUU from what I have read. However, the only advice I can find to rectify this is to use the RESIZE option in Advanced Wipe in TWRP. However, I have done this, I've even done it a few times in succession in case it is like the RUU process and doesn't necessarily work first time. However, another run of the installer and I get the exact same error. Looking at my system (in Wipe) after a failed install, I can even see that the system partition is full, but I don't know how else I can resize it to avoid this error.
As I said, trawled through almost 500+ posts trying to find answers, from where I gleaned the above information, but no other way to resize the system partition than the method I tried. Therefore, I would genuinely appreciate any help anyone could give in overcoming this error, by whatever method is best/works best.
I have full log file from my failed install and can also explain the steps I took / files I used in more detail too if necessary. At present, it's just a case of another RUU of the GPE 5.1 at the moment until I can find a solution Purely wanting to install so I have the M8 camera functionality back if anybody has any other tips for achieving this other than the above (again, searches etc have led me to the camera.apk, I've had it installed etc but the editor still goes to the FX editor, without any of the HTC sense camera functions (like Duo, U-Focus etc) that I am keen to get back.
Again, apologies if this is answered elsewhere, but it's not for the want of looking, and as a new user not allowed to post directly on the ROM post yet. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Sie

You would have a better chance of finding a working solution if you go to the M8 forum.
I'll bet @xunholyx can get you straight, he's pretty experienced with the M8 I think.

You need to run a Sense RUU to resize your partitions. The GPE system partition is too small for Sense based ROMs and RUU is how you fix it. Just like you ran a GPE RUU to resize your partitions for that.

If you don't know where to get the RUU, or if you need instructions, post/reply here and I'll give you complete directions on how to do it.

Thanks for your reply. Really appreciate your help. I think I'm ok with the RUU process itself, as I ran it to get to this point, however I'm not sure where to locate the RUU I would need to effectively "roll back" to stock, so any help with that, and directing me in which of the plethora to choose would be greatly appreciated! Perhaps if you could give me simple instructions, so it's not too time consuming for you, but to ensure I'm not missing anything in the RUU process that could lead to further complications, that would be a big help too!

Download this splash.zip, rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip and place it onto your extSD. Boot into bootloader and select hboot if it doesn't automatically. Vol up to flash, power to reboot. That'll repartition your phone, but with old firmware. Delete the renamed zip from extSD, otherwise every time you boot to hboot it'll try to update again.
Next, download this RUU onto your PC to update to Lollipop. Hook up your phone and double click on the download, then follow the prompts. You'll probably get a "fail hboot pre-update" (or something like that). The first run updates the hboot with old firmware. Just run the RUU a second time without disconnecting, and the conversion back to Sense will be complete.

Try the splash.zip download and instructions from here. It should be the same file, but trying another download and flashing from your PC might work better for you.

Brilliant, tried those and it worked a treat. Then installed using the RUU you gave me, and as promised I was greeted with a full back to stock Sense version, and have been able to install the ROM I wanted. Thanks once again for all your help, truly appreciated!
I'm guessing it was the CID that was causing the error, if anybody has the same problem in the future and ends up on this thread. I'm guessing if I'd have changed the CID your method with the HBOOT would probably have worked too (as out of curiosity I tried the HBOOT method with your file and it then worked).
Thanks again, great to know there are people out there willing to try and help each other. :highfive:
