Lets get evild a g2x!

I'm sure many of you are firmilar with evild's work on the n1, mt4g and other highend devices. I happened to flash his 3.0 rom on my wifes mt4g sand got to chatting with him. Hes interested in getting a g2x, so I told him id attempt to orchestrate a collection of funds to buy him a g2x. First things first, what will a no contract g2x cost? What is the cheapest anyone has seen one for sale off contract? Secondly, if anyone has an upgrade they are willing to donate, THAT WOULD BE PHENOMENAL! I'm good for $100 to start things off. If you find one off contract for cheap, please post links! Moderators, please feel free to get involved.

That is why I hate xda bunch of free loading crack flashers that don't help the Dev. community just piss people off and whine for help when they get in trouble....... count me in for 20 bucks

Does he plan on making a sense port for the G2X might wanna specify what his work will entail, I'd be very happy to donate to the cause if he could get sense to work on the device... Pretty sure it won't/can't be done. I'll stay tuned in nonetheless.

Very good question... I can only assume so, since alot of his work is done with sense ui. I sent him a pm with the link to this thread, so as he reads through it, I'm sure he'll clarify on that.

haha yea a little part of me died when the sense roms stopped for the N1

Yea, I guess I didn't miss it all that much because I went straight from the n1 to the mt4g. So I almost immediately had evil support again lol.

have you been on the internet long? people are people. and you'll find people like that on any forum. i've seen people talking like that online since before the internet was mainstream. it's not only xda. there is no way to stop it. so just get used to it. but, i got your back on voicing your opinion as well. what xda needs is a dislike button. i've seen them on other sites. and after so many dislikes,your post gets hidden and members have to click "show" to see it.

People like you thinking it's ok to use these Roms for free without donating a dime is a FAIL!
These Devs work hard and long hrs. to make these roms for your phone to function and look better!
So a little donation wouldn't hurt for you to give!
Or better yet if you don't, don't bother commenting on it!
Don't look at it as paying for there phone, but rather an advance for work they are going to do for you!
Everyone has a favorite dev. Mine personally is TW.

Your idea is ingenious. I will take it up with a friend whose a mod here and see what he thinks. Not sure it will get too far but you never know.

That is a very good idea. Giving thumbs down to certain posters would warn other readers at this forum. It would also be useful against scammers who steal the Dev's work and pawn the mods as their own begging for donations. There was one on the Samsung Epic forum last year and on the Asus Transformer forum a few weeks ago.

I've been on the internet for awhile... a lot of forums and yes I know there are always negative people... I can be one of them... at times... but I hate how broad the ignorance on this site is..

it might now have any custom roms, but maybe if you would read instead of complain you would see that the MODS we have for the stock roms turn the phone into a powerful beast just like any other HTC phone, **** i just compared my phone to my homies HTC ATRIX 4g and mine is better then his with his custom roms
also, custom roms will be on the way probably mid summer to be honest
it might just be me but id rather get a phone with no DEV work and work on it myself then to be a whining baby and expect things done for me and complain when they are not

understandable not your cup of tea
voodoo sound fix is the only voodoo we have for the phone
a lot is more to come because one of the devs is about to have the phone to work on
and not just building codes blindly with no test

I am not complaining i just came from a over anxious group in the g tablet forum. I will say i started trying to port cm7 and with out the proper know how or doing it before i found the information on porting was not accurate so i stopped. Once the dev that is getting the phone to play with starts porting alot more will follow i know. Regardless with mod the phone is hella fast. Also want to state another mod to try is upping your vmheap to 64m made a huge diff with bali kernel and fugu tweaks.

Slow? You have to be kidding me. This phone blows my evo out of the water! I get 64 fps on neocore UNDERCLOCKED to 800MHz.

G2x replacement with Gingerbread

Spoke to a rep about getting my G2x replaced yet again #4 as this thing is getting constant reboots *stuck to stock OS to see if it was true* he explained to me that the latest G2x's are updated with Gingerbread and the displays have been fixed and I did not even mention the display...
Tomorrow it will be here. Lets see if this guy did not pull it out of his ass and was being true.
Will keep this thread updated.

Tomorrow the update will be here? Yea. Sure. Honestly I don't have any issues with my phone but it would be nice to get an update.

No. I only made this thread because I told them to call me for my replacement when the G2x problems have been solved.
I got a phone call they mentioned all that ****.
I dont believe them but the fact that they called me back to tell me this 2 weeks later and so i can get my replacement is pretty bad ass.
So we will see what happens when I get the new G2x

This is right, we honestly have no idea when this is coming. I check our internal information DAILY and nothing has been updated. It comes when it does, anyone who gives you a solid date is wrong as of this moment.

Well, if you do receive a G2x with the update, you can post the files for us then.

Hey guys. First and foremost love my G2x. Am a noob to Rom switching have only moded to CM7. I noticed alot of people modding further with their Robin device. The G2x made it so easy to mod. Want to mod further but am worried because I'm a noob. Been around the forums and am thinking the Vibrant would be a good Robin because of it's variety of Roms, Kernel's, radios and other features. Rather wait to mod my Batman. And pick up a Robin that I won't care if I break. Suggestions?

Great idea imo...but from what i have read it's very difficult to kill the phone once you have nvflash on it...I'm also a noob though

dude just ask for help if u have nvflash installed it is pretty hard to brick ur phone being that u can always get into recovery with power down and vol down, like if u were boot looping...so your good ill be glad to help just message me

Vibrant is an awesome all around phone. Nearly unbrickable due to Odin and Heimdall, and effortless to modify. I came from a Vibrant and have nothing but good things to say. The screen is awesome too. Highly recommended and pretty cheap these days.

Well, we have to consider many things.
First and most importantly, Google just acquired Motorola's mobile phones division for $12.5 billion. That means that they are gonna be a major hardware manufacturer and the phones that they make will probably be able to handle Android better than the rest of the competition.
Also, don't forget that 2011 is the year of the rabbit. The rabbit is a swift little creature and it doesn't like to get caught.
If we compare cyanogemod to the rabbit, and then compare that to google's purchase of Moto's mobile division, then we can clearly see that there's no connection between any of these things.
So long story short, yes, we still don't know. We're all just sitting tight.

Honestly, does it really even matter right now when CM7 will be released? Seemingly every day our wonderful developers are releasing new ROM's. Pick one, love it, and live with it. Or pick a few and love them!

Very understandable. In the time I've been with this forum, I've seen a lot of that going on and it's ridiculous. Internet browsers should pop up a notice saying "Don't forget the search feature!" when somebody opens a new tab or window lol
I'd hate to see you go, also. It would be a loss for us!

Just checked and it said the guy working on the port still needs a kernel
