Stuck In Bootloop Recovery - T-Mobile LG G2x

I am unable to exit recovery. Da_pharoah1 has been helping me one on one with the issue so far. I have tried a number of things from just rebooting phone too using the exitrecovery.zip, flashing another rom and same rom, clearing all date, cache etc, It seems like no matter what I do I am stuck in recovery. I am hoping someone can shed the light on this for me today. I believe it was around 12AM last night were I just gave up because the nvflash was not working because for some reason the computer did not let me update the apx driver. So please if anyone can help please do. I was using the hfp 2.2 GB ROM.

I tried that above and for some reason my computer would not let me update the driver. I tried to use the i386 folder but it said it is already as up to date.

ok so try flashing hfp again and also make sure to flash a gb kernel. I messed this up. I had so many tabs open yesterday I thought you were on ics and I told u to flash an ics kernel to gb. so just flash a gb rom and a separate gb kernel for double safetyness and that should fix your issue.

I just hit you up bro. I have tried to flash the hfp 2.2 ROM and the gapps but it did not work. I was wondering if you think I should delete it then put it back on my sd card then flash it and see what happens. Also I have a nandroid back from May wondering if I should try that too.
EDIT: Also no worries bro. I should have told you I was on GB or confirmed the kernel was GB and not ICS. It is as much as my fault as it is yours.

problem is bro he cant install the driver.. he is stuck on cwm, and windows wont recognize the phone correctly... I had him format his /system and he gets an error. G2x batch is going to be resolution. I have told him to try and put his phone in that s/w mode with the yellow triangle then try to install the apx driver that way... so hes at work now and I dont think he can do that now. It may have to wait till he gets home. But if that dont work only other resolution I can think of is him actually sending me his phone and I can g2x batch it for him since I have the apx driver installed. problem with that is he lives on the east coast and I live in New mexico time in transit is gonna kill it... but gotta try only other way besides blowing cash on a new phone with tmous and they are blah right now...

He should have it installed. I guided him through getting cwm originally on there. Hey bambino, try using the nvflash rom for recovery link I sent you when you originally did the cwm and rom install. Should be in the chat logs in your gmail account.

If you have the V21Y baseband installed, try this: http://s3.amazonaws.com/lgforum.com...cking and Popping Audio Issue).pdf?1337877028
That's a hyperlink to a pdf from LG which contains a hyperlink to its V21Y Gingerbread update utility which works with Windows 7. I tested it and it works.
1. When you run it, after the update window appears, open Windows Task Manager with Ctrl-Alt-Delete and locate the program named "Download Window" and right-click on it and click on "Go To Process".
2. Right-click on the "SmartFlashTool.exe" process and click on "Open File Location". That will open the folder "All-in-On" where all of the files for the V21Y Gingerbread update are located.
3. In that folder there's an application named "LGUnitedMobileDriver...". Run that program to install the drivers then, after the drivers are installed, close the "Download Window" which first appeared on your computer's desktop.
4. Run the "SmartFlashTool.exe" program located in the "All-in-On" folder you previously located and opened through using Windows Task Manager.
5. Follow the instructions in the pdf file you accessed when you first started this process ( http://s3.amazonaws.com/lgforum.com...cking and Popping Audio Issue).pdf?1337877028 ).
Good luck.

[Q] Flashed a S-ON Phone

EDIT: If anyone gets an error trying to use the Newkidd's One .ZIP Stock RUU file and then Flashes a ROM leaving you in a boot loop and you feel stuck, just download the modified Android Drivers from Unrevoked. This helps out a lot if your device can't be seen, then just use the PC version of the RUU and let it run well, and then you'll be good to go. Thanks A LOT to strapped365. He spent more the 8 hours with me on GTalk all together, and helped me revert EVERYTHING back and fixed everything. This was all his find, I just tested it out for him.

97 Views and 1 Reply? Come on guys, this is pathetic. Alright. I tried the Factory Reset, I've wiped everything. The problem is that in Bootloader Mode, it shows S-ON, but I still have CWM3.2.0.1 Recovery and when try to Flash a ROM, it takes me to the Sprint Bootup Screen, get's to where it says "Sprint" or where it's building up the 4G design, and then it stops. I tried to Flash the Sprint OTA that I got from my sisters Shift onto my brothers phone, but it still won't boot. Is there anything I can do? I need help please?

If it was rooted before, what I would do is start over. Did you run the RUU from the PC, or the SD Card? I'm by no means an expert. But when I've had to RUU a phone, it always worked better connected to the PC IMO. But if for whatever reason you can't, place it in the root of the SD Card. Do it from there. I'd RUU back to Froyo. Then just act like the phone was never rooted before. After that just follow the guide for rooting. Also, like I said before I would RUU from the PC via HTC Sync. Just connect your phone to the PC by USB cable, and run the RUU exe. from the PC.
Here is a thread with the RUU http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909554
Just kidding I never RUU'd. I'm going to use PG06IMG.zip and then I'll RUU... k?
Just download the RUU. Place on your desktop. Connect the phone with HTC Sync, and run the RUU exe. It will take the phone back to factory stock ( unrooted froyo ) . Then just reroot.
I don't have HTC Sync. And he doesn't wanna Root anyway. </3.
K. I'm just gonna RUU it lol.

Honestly, I don't have internet so I'm Tethering off my Epic to download it and I have a long while to go. Is there anyway I can use the PC06IMG.zip and just download an application to my PC to Flash it? It's not about the size, it's about the time. Because as long as I Tethering, I can't text or call or anything and that's a huge hassle.

The way I described is going to be the best way IMO. But it does take some time. Your going to need HTC Sync installed on your PC. Just go to a Fast Food place buy a soda, sit down and use their WiFi. Till you get what you need done .

G2x stuck in recovery...go figure

I successfully rooted my G2x and attempted to flash the hellfire sandwich rom. I believe I did everything correctly, but I have wound up in a situation identical to what is described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059155
I have attempted the suggested recovery steps, but my computer does not detect the g2x when holding the volume buttons and then connecting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated I am more than willing to donate to anyone able to help me out of this mess.

Heheh...actually I didn't follow the directions! The ones that I was watching showed an error message popping up, and to then look in the device manager; I got an error message once but thought it was wrong and then kept trying to replicate it, but no error message showed. I just hadn't thought to just look in the device manager, and when I did, there it was! ^_^

Not impossible, just improbable, if you attach the phone with something which operates at a file-system level you can brick it. Granted with NV flash, we can NV flash CWM back on and we know we can flash a baseband, so there's not much else which we could access that we could permanately screw-up which can't be unscrewed in some fashion.
hope you have the july baseband before rooting, or else you made an extra step for yourself

[Q] Getting my hands on a bricked g2x today....

he said he bricked it trying to upgrade to ICS.
is the sticky at the top still the way to unbrick it? i noticed that a couple links were dead in the first post. granted i didn't go through all 17 pages, just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything newer then whats already been posted.
edit: he did say that the screen is showing s/w if that matters
Was it bricked by flashing a o2x rom? I think that may be the hardest brick I have heard of but still fixable. I believe if that is the case than following the sticky should restore the baseband and everything else.
Honestly though I would first try just reflashing CWM via nvflash, boot into recovery and load a stable GB rom. If that works, great.

You apparently you did not even read the first post. XP only, will not work with Windows 7.
"As many have stated, pushing the v21E_00.kdz via the KDZ_FW_UPD program does work. It's just touchy.
This is a step by step guide to get you back in to working shape.
Note: You MUST do this via a PC running Windows XP. Running Vista/7 in compatibility mode is not going to work, period.
Edit: As an alternative, a virtual environment running XP will do the job. Those steps are up to you."
That's not true. I updated the baseband using win7 on my first try. No need for comparability mode.

duple and lurker, thanks for the confirmation that it works with 7
when i try and push the kdz i get the dreaded phone not found.
ok im on my xp machine here at work and heres what i got:
Part 1: Download the files you will need below.
V21E_00.kdz
KDZ_FW_UPD_EN
One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-06-16.rar
LG USB Drivers G2x
Part 2:
1) Install the LG G2x USB drivers to your WinXP machine.
2) Extract the entire contents of the One-Click recovery in to a folder and keep it handy.
3) Remove the battery from the phone. Hold both volume buttons and plug in the USB cable. If you are asked for a driver, look in the APX folder where you extracted the One-Click recovery archive.
4) Run OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe and flash the stock recovery. Wait for the process to finish and close all windows and unplug the phone.
no problems with above steps. after that nothing works. when i put the battery back in and turn on thats when i get the flashing black screen, not back to the s/w screen.
5) Put the battery back into the phone and turn it on. You will be back at the S/W Upgrade screen. This is where you want to be! Now plug the USB cable back in to the phone. If everything is up to snuff you should have no driver problems at this point.
6) Extract KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.7z in to a folder. Inside is a msxml.msi. You need to run and install this first!
7) Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe.. Leave the type set to CDMA and the phone mode set to DIAG. DO NOT CLICK ON "Read phone information"
8) Click the folder icon and load the V21E_00.kdz
9) Click launch software update (and pray!)
ok just for craps and giggles i tried booting into recovery and actually got the box with arrow and android! but it then reboots back to the lg screen and then flashing black screen
WOOT! finally able to get into CWM recovery!
is all that needs to be done now is install a stable rom?

wifi seems to be flaky. keeps scanning and dropping work and home network
also it appears that the market wasn't on that version of the rom. is that a quick fix?
Now you have the recovery and baseband sorted, start from scratch and do a full wipe(including system internal/external SD). Then flash a stable ROM Weapon/EB to make sure everything is good. Just my 2 cents

You were lucky, indeed!
A CM nightly can be stable too, however I would flash either Weapon or Eagles Blood for a couple of days to have a piece of mind that everything is working cool. The most important would be a proper full wipe (cache, dalvik, system under mounts and storage, battery stats and imho internal and external SD too) too get rid of the previous mess caused by the unsuccessful flash, etc.

[Q] NVFlashable Recovery?

I have a B40 on Stock Honeycomb, rooted.I decided I was going to try and ota update to ICS again. However, it seems though that the firmware update corrupted at some point. Part way through its flash the little android came up with the exclamation mark. I rebooted and it booted fine and said that the update failed and things were being reverted. It lied . While the system boots and runs fine. My stock recovery is broken. If I volume down then up to select recovery. It just hangs. I tried to flash a different recovery using Gnufabios installer. It said I don't have root(which is also not true). So I tried CWM. It said it flashed ok and it even says Im currently using Cwm. However, again on trying to select recovery during boot it hangs. So I'm curious if there is a straight flashable recovery via nvflash or if its just easier to flash the entire prime package for example. Loss of data doesnt bother me. Everything important is on my microSD.
Also, if someone could send me the NVflash program/package as it seems the original host site is forever busy.
Any and all help/advice is appreciated.

yes, this is made for windows computers and will work. uzip it and run the returntostoxk.bat file it will confirm your phone is connected (you have to be in fastboot mode) and after that just press enter and let it run and complete and youll be back to stock. you have to reroot your phone too, so id just update to the ota 2.6 and then root that, then intall your atrix bootstrap and then the bionic recovery from rom manager. then your ready to flash some roms again.

Thanks for the link. I just acquired an ATRIX 2 and cannot upgrade to 2.3.6. It says update failed and read returning to factory helps. Crossing my fingers.

That was my only guess. I bought it mint from ebay. I'm hoping that is the issue with a bloatwsre getting removed.
Well...so good news and bad news.
This was phone I had purchased from Ebay. I works great. The problem I started with it receiving an update for 2.3.6, but it failed when attempting to update. From what I have read, this could be related bloated getting deleted.
I first attempted to find InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID28 5.zip, but wasn't able to find a working link.
I was pointed to using a .bat file by Rob in this thread. Thanks a bunch Rob. All went well; however, when attempting to perfrom the update to 2.3.6 it now gives me an out of system memory error. It doesn't even start to download the update...odd. It then ask me to factory reset. however, the factory reset then takes me back into a fastboot mode.
Any ideas of next steps? Do I need to attempt finding the original InlineFlashing file? If so, any idea where to find it?
Thanks everyone! I appreciate the help.
here you go.

Hi Matt -
Would this work if I'm already on 2.3.5 and need to restore back to default or MUST I be on 2.3.6 first? I can't get to 2.3.6 right now due to a failed update.
for that, im not sure. im under the impression that it's fine.
at this point its better that what you got. {i think}
let me search around a little bit and see if i can get a better answer
