Navigation - Maps are rotated 90 degrees clockwise. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi
I am having a weird issues with Google Navigation. The GPS seems to work fine, but the maps are rotated 90 degrees.
Basically when I am driving, the maps are showing me travel sideways. It is kind of disorienting to look at the maps this way.
Is anyone experiencing the same issue. This was working until a week ago. I did search the forums but did not come across anything.
Any help is appreciated.

I believe you can just rotate the maps using two fingers and twisting.
At least you can on Google Maps.

Is your auto-rotate enabled? Also there's a blue arrow button on the lower left corner of the map when you're navigating, hitting that will reorient your map to the default "chase" view.

Maybe try going to Settings>Apps and clearing data and cache for Maps? Never seen that one, but clearing data/cache sometimes clears up random bugs in various apps.
So is everything rotated on the screen, including text? Or just the map graphics? And only in Maps?

Hi redpoint
The text bar on the top and bottom are oriented correctly. There is no problem
With the text or the location. Only the map is oriented in a direction other than the one I am driving. Sometimes it is doing 90 degrees other times it is doing 180...270 etc. I should have mentioned this in my original post..apologize for that.
I have just cleared the data for maps and I have to wait a few hours to test again because I am at work.
Thanks

Good to hear. If it ever happens again, let us know what you were doing when it happened. This is the first time I've ever heard of this.

+1 same issue
anyone? ................
my google maps works, this only happens on my google navigation GPS thing
did you clear app data>uninstall>reinstall?
i dont care for google nav any way, it seem problematic on the captivate. a few times it worked perfectly and other times it causes the gps to crash on some roms. on others the positioning becomes eratic one trip not the next. the most stable my gps has been on a nav program is with navdroyd.
I was noticing the same problem when Google maps did a recent update. Try going into the market place and uninstall the update. If that doesn't work try upgrading to a 2.2.1 rom like Preception or Darky's. When I went from a 2.2 to a 2.2.1 it seemed to fix the problem.
I was having this problem with navigation. It stopped after I went into places and did a navigate from there. After that I could go into navigation without the issue.

I also did something similar to this. Instead of Places, i picked a random location from within Google Maps (long press) and then chose to navigate to it. Worked fine after that.

Google search page is hiding my typing

When I type into the search engine on Google.com it hides my typing like as if I were typing a password??? I have tried factory reset, I have tried fixing permissions. It only does it there. I think it might be tied to app Absolute system that I am using to change system fonts.
I am rooted using sense, stock kernel, and radio right now.
Anyone else seen this? Know of a fix?

I am having the same problem. It started this morning. I did some searching on the internet and apparently it's a global issue on Google's side. From what I have read they are aware of the issue and are working on resolving it.
Ah I searched and didn't see anything. But did find it was only on their site but don't know why it wouldn't affect everyone then??? It's weirding me out.

[Problem] Google Map often freezes my phone

Google Map often freezes my phone when zooming out to street level (with 3D map)
I've updated to the newest map 5.7.0, but the problem persists. When my phone is frozen, no button works (even the power button). The only way is to plug out the battery.
I'm using the original rom, but rooted. However, I don't see any reasons to this problem
Does anyone have the same problem? Any solution for this?
Thank you!
Did you flash a custom kernel? Do you have undervolting setup?

Try going to settings -> application settings and clearing the data for google maps and the street view app and see if that helps

No, I'm using the original kernel without any tweaks in the system so far. I rooted the phone but just to use some apps like Shoot Me or AdBlock. Aside from that, I don't think I made any changes in the deep system settings.

I will try to do that. Hope that it'll resolve the problem. I guess it may be due to the 3D map of Tokyo, but when I use wifi I don't have the freezing problem. I posted a question on Google forum but only one guy who has the same issue replied T_T
By the way, do you guys often experience sluggishness of the Map app? I often feel my Map is quite sluggish at a detail zoom level.

Google Navigation suddently stops.

Hello colleagues.
I'm new on this forum and, as others before me, first came to you with an issue and kindly asking for an advice.
Facts:
-I bought a HTC One S, new, sealed, 2 months ago. Since then I made the android updates required/indicated by the phone software. Also, I installed latest update for Maps.
- now on the phone there is: Android 4.1.1, HTC Sense version 4+, Software number 3.16.207.4
Issue (which is reproducible):
- few weeks have past and recently I observed a weird behaviour for Navigation:
- after the connection to GPS is made and if few seconds pass, the application ends with a message on the screen: Unforntunately, Maps has stopped, with 2 option buttons: Report and OK. Ofcourse I reported several time this error. This is very frustrating especially when driving.
I have also IGO8 on the phone at it is working fine, it connects to GPS fast enought, no problems.
I tried, as other forums stated, to uninstall Maps updates, to restart the phone. I did not reseted to factory defaults yet.
Did anyone encountered this issue in the past? If yes, what should I do?
Thanks in advance for your time and support.
Best Regards,
Adrian
Try going to settings, scrolling down to apps, clicking on all, down to maps. Clear Data and Clear Cache. Uninstall and reinstall. Maybe that will work...
Sv: Google Navigation suddently stops.
Uninstalling and/or clearing cache won't help. This is a known error on many many One S's when using a JellyBean rom. Google and thou shalt find.
You can stop it from crashing by tapping the compass symbol while in navigation mode. This switches to the 2D mode which for some reason works just fine.

In deed, your proposal works. In 2D, the Navigation does not crash, in 3D - always.
Is there a way to activate the compass in 2D? The major drawback of the 2D is that the map is "not layed in front of you" as it is done in 3D.

[Q] Google Navigation does not resume after waking screen

I use Google Navigation on a daily basis and have found a bug while using CM and PACman ROMs. If I am in the middle of a navigation route and the screen is turned off, when the screen comes back on the navigation continues to appear in the notification bar, but I cannot return to the visual turn by turn directions. It always takes me back to the Navigation landing page of choosing your destination again. Any help?
Hmm.. I don't have this problem. Have you tried clearing data for Maps?
Also, is this the latest version with live traffic rerouting?

I cleared data and it seems like that might have fixed it.. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, thanks!
Unfortunately, the problem is persisting.. now even getting FCs and freezes. This is the only buggy app

Any other ideas for why this might be happening? And why clearing data from time to time sort of helps?

Does the problem exist on a stock ROM? Maybe the problem is a setting on your Google account that syncs with the Maps app and causes it to crash.. Don't know what could be causing it really
