I'm sorry but if that isn't simple enough then I suggest you hold off gaining root access... You should read and learn what you are doing, and potential risks involved.

read all this and u will figure out
Go through the guides on the index thread in the desire s development section.
Also read the tips on how to avoid bricking.
If done correctly, totally safe. Depends on your experience n patience too I guess. U haven't mentioned what version hboot etc you have which is the starting point.
Re your recovery thread, Google it or search xda, there's also a glossary...

Thx so much my hboot is 0.98.0002
Does revolutionary requires administrator to run? Cuz I don't hv the admin rights x( is there any method that I can bypass that? Sorry if this sound stupid
You will be fine with revolutionary,it's. What I used to do mine straight from virgin. it will S-off then drop the file you download from the site on the SD card and flash it to get root

Bricking a phone.

What are some of the things that brick a phone that people should a not due.and what does semi-bricked mean the phones only half way bricked.and can all phones be unbricked if one does happen to get bricked?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA
a phone is bricked when it doesn't boot, doesn't turn on, WHEN YOU CAN'T ENTER IN RECOVERY (if you can is not bricked)...
there is an unbricking project in the development section that regards just one type of bricking....I don't know what is it exactly...
I just flash roms, this usually doesn't brick the phone...
you risk to brick when you try to change the hboot, when you try to s-on your s-off device...when you enter deeply in the system of your phone...
flashing kernel, roms, modding, rooting...these things doesn't brick nothing
so just do that if you are not a dev.
cheers

you dont need s-off but it makes flashing roms/kernels alot easer
Oh lol well still ima see if I can find a diff device on T-Mobile that doesn't require s-off or supercid thanks man
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
Doesn't require S-Off at all. S-Off will only save you about thirty seconds when flashing ROMs, because you have to skip one small step.

That's right, but consider that every single time you need a computer at your side.
If you have you save only seconds, if not you have to wait....
