So when I try to to use CPU editor in terminal emulator supersu doesn't always read as a valid command and says "command not found" this happens in all roms I tried

Try updating su binary.
Check su app list, maybe you chose deny by accident.
Set su default action to grant instead of prompt in su settings.
Install Busybox maybe?
Did you type "su" as root in terminal or something else?
Try each one and test.

Make sure you haven't lost root had this happen twice to me already.

After reboot you won't have root in adb shell. There are two ways to get root again in adb shell.
1. Type su in the adb shell and press the allow button on the superuser popup on your phone.
2. Install Koush's bootstrap and then bootstrap your phone; then you will always have a constant adb root shell.

O I never looked at my phone when I tried su... try that when I get home

Spontaneous loss of root privileges on CM 7.1

So I'm running CM 7.1 stable with Matr1x 8.0 cfs and I went to turn on my tethering yesterday and I got a toast notification saying I was unable to start tethering due to an inability to gain root access. As of a few minutes ago, I am unable to gain root access with titanium backup, wireless tether, or the terminal emulator.
Has anyone ever seen something like this, or know what may be wrong?
Thanks in advance

Launch su from the app drawer and see what happens.

I tried updating from within SU and the prompt showed up, I accepted, and I got a toast saying that Superuser had been granted SU permissions. Then the update failed from lack of root privileges. Titanium Backup and the terminal are still not able to gain access

Android terminal emulator

If I try to use the terminal for anything it returns "<command>: permission denied". This occurs with any terninal emulator I use. Will I have to make a call to busybox for everything?

seems that your root method doesnt work properly.Just try another one
Did you not see that I'm using cm? the ROM comes rooted.

hm two ideas.
- root permission is not being granted correctly
- busybox not installed correctly
Should I reinstall bb then?

This was addressed earlier. My rom COMES rooted, so I don't need to root it.
Also, When I try installing BB (using one of the BB installers) it says that the same version was already installed. Does this mean that I need to UNinstall it first? Wait for the next version of BB? :/
Try rebooting into clockworkmod recovery and going to advanced>fix permissions. Then reboot and go back to terminal and type su. If you still get permission denied, uninstall busybox the push it back to the phone via adb. Let me know how it goes.

Why do I have to use adb? Wouldn't I just be able to use the installer?

Do you get permission denied when type su in the terminal? Then superuser from the market since the rom is already rooted

You could do it from the market/installer . Sorry I use adb for everything.

Which method did u use to root?
Are u running the latest su/su binary?
Do u get any type of error messages?
What else have u tried to make it work?
Clearing the su app data? Maybe uninstalling and reinstalling the su app?

I've had the same issue for quit sometime now. Running the current binary it eventually will prompt for access but it usually takes about 4 -5 restarts of the app or even a reboot. I have not taken the time to resolve the issue, I've just lived with it.
I had this same problem with sixaxis controller not being granted root. I loaded the superuser app first then loaded sixaxis, doing this worked for me. The root access request popped up and has been working fine since.

I don't know what rom you are on and it usually depends. Check the super su app to make sure that you have the binaries installed (it only tells you if you don't). Also check with Root checker. I find the issue you have pretty odd.
I was on nusensesix and SuperSU did update the binaries when it updated from playstore but I guess something went wrong with that department or when I changed to stephs busy box. Thanks for the reply tho. Thread can be closed
