How to get Instagram working on Kindle Fire without rooting. - Kindle Fire Themes and Apps

This guide is only for non-rooted devices. It's fairly simple.
STEPS
1) Make sure you have 'Allow Installations of Applications' on in Settings > Device.
2) On your Kindle Fire, visit the APKTOPS website.
3) Download the EARLIEST version of Instagram you can find. I believe mine was 1.0.2.
4) Select and install the APK.
5) Sign in. Once you get the force close, DO NOT UNINSTALL INSTAGRAM.
6) Go back to APKTOPS website and install latest Instagram version you can find. Mine was 1.1.3
7) Download and install. You will get the pop-up saying it will replace current version. Continue through it.
8) Once done, you can open up Instagram and you will already be signed in and it will be working properly.

Instaling market and gapps on stock 5699

I've been using the new stock tnt 5699 for 3 days now, it seems to be far more stable and fast than previous versions, flash plays well on almost all the web pages I've tested, it only needs market and google applications to turn it into a really useful rom. So these are the modifications to "The Viewsonic G Tablet Super Thread (w/Market, Gmail, and Maps!)" to have it up and runnig:
1. Download and install z4root
2. Run z4root and choose "permanently root" to root your gtablet
3. Download and install rootexplorer
3. Run root explorer and Mount "/system" as R/w
4. Download and unzip gtablet ( http://forum.xda-developers.com attachment.php?attachmentid=432583&d=1288749538) into your sdcard
5. Copy the contents of G Tablet\permissions to System\etc\permissions
6. Copy the contents of G Tablet\lib to System\lib
7. Copy the contents o G Tablet\APP into your system\app folder
8. Install them in this order:
GoogleServicesFramework.apk
OneTimeInitializer.apk
Talk.apk
Vending.apk
Gmail.apk
Maps.apk
9. Make sure you remount "/system" as R/O when you're done!
10. Restart your G, Connect to Wifi
11. Open rootexplorer and Mount "/system" as R/W
12. In rootexplorer long press in "/system/build.prop" and choose "open in text editor"
13. Where it says "ro.product.device=harmony" change it to: "ro.product.device=olympus"
14. Press menu button and select save and exit.
15. Perform the following steps:
Go into Settings.
Go into Applications.
Select Manage Aplications (all).
Select Market.
Select Clear Cache.
Select Force Stop.
Hit back button once.
Select Services Framework.
Select Clear Data.
Select Force Stop.
Back to home screen.
16. Open market (you should get an error message)
17. Reboot gtab.
18. Let it sort things out on its own. Go into Market.
19. Enjoy Market.
The only thing not working is the google calendar
Hope this is useful
Thanks this is extremely helpful. What are the three copied folders Permission/Lib/App needed for?
Also, are you getting any force closes with any of the apps after installing the market?
Android Market without rooting?
Is it possible to install the Android Market without rooting? Or un-root after installing the Market?
The reason I ask is movie rentals from the Android Market. Movies won't play on rooted devices. Just wishing there were some way of getting movies rentals to work.

I haven't tried it on the Gtab, but I'd look at Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper (https://market.android.com/details?id=org.projectvoodoo.otarootkeeper). It allows you to unroot/root if you're already rooted. It was developed for the Kindle Fire to re-root after OTA updates, but it also works to backup and unroot for apps that don't like root. I've used it on a couple of non-Kindle devices and it works great.
I was successfully able to run this:
- with temporary root
- using free es file explorer
The changes I did were:
2) instead of Permanent Root, I chose Temporary root. I needed to enable USB debugging first, but temporary root worked.
3) Instead of root explorer I used ES file Explorer. The Viewsonic-installed 1.x version did not work. I downloaded a newer version 1.6.1 from estrongs.com
Also, it took a few tries for market to show up under "system applications" in tap&tap's settings screen. I didn't have an "applications (all)", it may have been a root explorer thing.
I'm waiting for Market to self update like help says it will. This old version did FC on me once.
You don't even need root to install the Market on stock!

Have u tried this on an unrooted gtab? If so are the steps the same without the need to rw
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Wait a sec, does system even need rw? Without root it cant be changed to rw.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I have a question about step 3. How do you download root explorer when you don't yet have access to the Market?
[Edit] Never mind. I found an alternative method of getting gapps on to my Gtablet. It is an update file that automated the gapps install. Do a web search for "Gtablet Back to Stock w/ a few modifications" and you will find it. It is a February 22, 2012 entry of a blog entitled "Salvatore's Place"
I did the above and every thing works perfect except that I have the old market and its not updating. any help on that?

I wrote a program called OogleVox, which installs the Play Store on rooted devices. It is a little more comprehensive than these instructions and other than modifying the build.prop it sets everything up. Does anyone want to try it out? http://goo.im/devs/danifunker/OogleVox
Please post your results.

[How-To] Enable Native Tethering on I337_OC3 - 5.0.1 (4/10/2015)

***The following modification will only work on Stock, Rooted OC3(Android 5.0.1) builds. Use on a non-stock custom ROM may cause issues***
**Required** Root access and FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet here: https://plus.google.com/communities/116661625291346007584
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/eu.chainfire.flash?authuser=0
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
Instructions:
1. Place the I337_OC3_TetherAddOn onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard)
2. Open the FlashFire app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Select "Flash Zip or OTA" then locate and select the I337_OC3_TetherAddOn.
5. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
6. From the main menu press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash (leave defaults settings under "EverRoot" and "Reboot" options).
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system, flash the .zip, then reboot. Done!
I think I'm going to try this just to get some experience with Flashfire, since I don't really tether. XD
Update: Flash seems to have succeeded with no hangups, but I don't have mobile data to test results.
This installed and worked great. Tested and used it twice.
Only issue is today I got a letter from AT&T stating I needed to stop tethering else they are going to change my data plan.
I rarely ever tether.
Anyone else had any experience with this? I'd like to go to 5.0.1, but don't want to lose tethering.
Hiya, link to I337_OC3_TetherAddOn seems stale. Any chance you could update, would like to enable tethering on my phone (OC4). Thanks muniz_ri!
Found it on another thread, thanks!

[XPOSED] How to install XPOSED on UMI Iron Pro

Installing Xposed Framework on Stock ROM without Custom Recovery on UMI Iron Pro
Requirements
FlashFire Beta - Read Post #2.
XposedInstaller_*.*_alpha*.apk (replace '*' with latest versions) - Found here.
xposed-v**-sdk22-arm64.zip (once again replace '*' with the latest version) - Found here.
Steps
Download both 'XposedInstaller_*.*_alpha*.apk' and 'xposed-v**-sdk22-arm64.zip' (found above).
Install 'XposedInstaller_*.*_alpha*.apk'
Launch FlashFire and tap the (+) button at the bottom of the app.
Select "Flash ZIP or OTA" then locate the 'xposed-v**-sdk22-arm64.zip' (./MyFavorite/ on the UMI Iron Pro), you will then see a new menu, leave everything unchecked and continue.
Tap on the EverRoot menu and make sure that all items are unchecked.
Leave the Reboot option on Normal then tap the lightning bolt.
Your device will reboot multiple times (even when it starts the optimising apps screen), just leave it alone.
Once your device has rebooted completely you may open up the "Xposed Installer" app and verify it has installed successfully.
Notes / Issues
This was tested on "Build Number: UMIIron Pro v3.01" (Build Numbers can be found under Settings > About Phone).
Currently SnapPrefs isn't working on the UMI Iron Pro. This could be caused by SnapPrefs or XPOSED, I'm unsure.
FAQs
Nothing yet. -.-
How to join the FlashFire Beta
Requirements
Google Account
Steps
As this software is beta, you will have to join the beta community found here.
Once you have joined, using the same Google account go to this page and select "Become a tester".
Now that your a beta tester, you might be able to view the application on the Play Store, but don't worry if you can't just click here.
FAQs
The Play Store link provided is broken, has it been removed? I can safely say that it's not, make sure you have joined both the Google Community and Beta Tester program.
Can you provide the APK? No, but you can probably find it using Google just watch out for harmful repacks.

is it possible to install GAPPS without a custom recovery?

I have 2 devices (Xiaomi Mi TV 2S 48" and a Xiaomi Mi TV 3 60") and I am having trouble getting GAPPS to install.
I do not have access to a custom recovery and the automated methods I do find fail for me at some stage or other. The odd time I can get it installed, it won't let me access my account.
One time I was able to get it all installed, but then the play store updated and showed a "this version of the Play store is not compatible with your device. Please uninstall updates" (or something similar to that). Uninstalling updates claimed to succeed, but wouldn't actually uninstall.
Factory reset later, I'm stumped. My current plan is:
1 - download PICO GAPPS for the Android version of my device
2 - Extract it to an SD card
3 - install the APK's
4 - move the APK's via terminal emulator to make them system (for the ones that require that permission)
5 - copy the lib files over from the zip
6 - cross fingers and reboot
Now, I am thinking that this should work, but I also don't know much about how the "flash zip" stuff works so I may be opening up a world of pain for myself. Plus side if I kill the android board, I can get a replacement for a lot cheaper than a new TV.
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section; I did not see a section for "Xiaomi other" or "Xiaomi TV".
Anybody have any experience installing GAPPS manually from a stock ROM?
EDIT: So I did figure this out. There is a tool known as "Google Installer" that will install all of the google tools (and dependancies) including google play. After installing that, you just make google play store a system app and the play store works great.
Bad news - with the latest version of the play store, it will do a check on your device if it should be using the default play store or the leanback version (guessing the check is done by the device name in your account, but I have not verified this). Google installer installs an older version of the regular play store and it will auto-update. If your device requires Leanback and you don't have the leanback version installed, your play store will fail to start indicating you should uninstall updates.

[ALTERNATIVE][HOW-TO] Workaround GAPPS installation

Before i begin with this tutorial full credit of for the files of this tutorial go to Twilight glass: https://bbs.nubia.cn/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1397112
Welcome to my alternative guide to installing GAPPS on the nubia x. This tutorial is only for people who are having issues with Teeemoo's method of installing GAPPS or for people who to want to have a more up to date version of GAPPS. Im sure most people have already seen Teeemoo's tutorial but for anyone who hasn't, it shows how to root and install GAPPS.
Once again keep in mind this is a workaround and should not be the official way in how to do it, keep your eyes on the Chinese forums if your waiting for updates on twrp and GAPPS. Im not taking any responsibility if anything goes horribly wrong
Teeemoo's: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nubia-x/how-to/how-to-gapps-nubia-x-t3878441
Like Teeemoo's tutorial this requires root, as i don't believe there is any method to install GAPPS without root. I can help with the basics on getting root on the nubia x but if you need a tutorial Teeemoo's tutorial is your best bet and if your still having issues Twilight glass's root tutorial will help, as long as you use google translate.
Now if your all ready we'll begin.
There is this text tutorial but if you are having issues I've uploaded a video to my mega drive (it is the same place as all the other files)
STEP 1: Download the Google folder from the mega link(DOWNLOAD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE)
STEP 2: Move the files to downloads folder if there not already there.
STEP 3: Install Root Explorer (DOWNLOAD ON MEGA)
STEP 4: Open Root Manager and copy the 4 google folders from downloads to /system/prive-app
STEP 5: Now go to /system/prive-app and select the 4 google folders and select the 3 dots at the top right of the app, then select permission settings.
STEP 6: Enter the octal 0755 and check both options at the bottom (apply to all folders and subfolders, not to subfolders).
STEP 7: Once you have confined these options restart your phone straight away.
STEP 8; IMPORTANT STEP FOR ANYONE WHO IS HAVING DATA ISSUES WITH APPS LIKE GOOGLE PLAY AND YOU TUBE.
Make sure when you open the google play store and login in to your google account with moblie data enabled not wifi (this is important) if you want to be able to use google play and other google apps on data reliably
GOOGLE FILES DOWNLOAD: https://mega.nz/#F!8poGlAqL!lJv5HZaa_iT-mMTWJhk7Hw
This is it for the Google play install for anyone having issues feel free to leave a comment and ill try to get back to you. And once again full credit for the files goes to Twilight glass.
Thanks for reading if this helped please feel free to leave a like.
thx will try soon

Contact sync is still bugged I think cause of how the Nubia software is correct me if I’m wrong however the download issue can be fixed by downloading permission manager and enabling all the permissions needed
