[How-To] Enable Native Tethering on I337_OC3 - 5.0.1 (4/10/2015) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

***The following modification will only work on Stock, Rooted OC3(Android 5.0.1) builds. Use on a non-stock custom ROM may cause issues***
**Required** Root access and FlashFire - Play BETA - PREVIEW
1. Join the G+ community using the same Google account as you're using for Play on your phone/tablet here: https://plus.google.com/communities/116661625291346007584
2. Sign up to receive the BETA versions from Play here: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/eu.chainfire.flash?authuser=0
- Use the link provided after sign-up to download the app.
Instructions:
1. Place the I337_OC3_TetherAddOn onto your device (use either internal or ext-sdcard)
2. Open the FlashFire app and "Agree" to the Terms and Conditions.
3. Press "(+)" twice to bring up the "Actions" menu.
4. Select "Flash Zip or OTA" then locate and select the I337_OC3_TetherAddOn.
5. Leave "Auto-mount" unchecked under the "Options" menu and press the checkmark to continue.
6. From the main menu press the lightning bolt then "Ok" to begin the flash (leave defaults settings under "EverRoot" and "Reboot" options).
The screen will turn black then display the contents of your system, flash the .zip, then reboot. Done!

I think I'm going to try this just to get some experience with Flashfire, since I don't really tether. XD
Update: Flash seems to have succeeded with no hangups, but I don't have mobile data to test results.

This installed and worked great. Tested and used it twice.
Only issue is today I got a letter from AT&T stating I needed to stop tethering else they are going to change my data plan.
I rarely ever tether.

Anyone else had any experience with this? I'd like to go to 5.0.1, but don't want to lose tethering.

Hiya, link to I337_OC3_TetherAddOn seems stale. Any chance you could update, would like to enable tethering on my phone (OC4). Thanks muniz_ri!

Found it on another thread, thanks!

Enable Multiple Users in KitKat 4.4

I found this Xposed module that will enable multiple users in KitKat 4.4. I'm running it on my locked bootloader Moto X. Download MoDaCo Toolkit Xposed module and enable it then reboot, next open MoDaCo and scroll down to Google Nexus (All) and check Show users on power menu, exit app and reboot phone. After reboot go to settings and under apps you should see users tap on users and tap on add. You will have two choices secured or un-secured. After choosing which one you want just set it up the way you want. Switching between users is easy; just hold down power button and choose which user you want to use. I haven't tried any of the other modifications in the app.
Note: xda, MoDaCo creator nor I are responsible for what you do to you phone.

[GUIDE] Enable Download Booster On Verizon - DETAIL INSTRUCTIONS

I basically took the instructions from XDA member "chronicaust" and made them simple with 1 single download link for the service files, and links to all apps needed. People were having trouble understanding the process in the original thread. So I hope this simplifies it and makes it clear for any new people. All I did was reorganize this process and hopefully make it easier for most people. The original instructions were confusing for me... I don't take credit for developing this at all!
Confirmed working on Verizon Retail Edition

Thank YOU!! I couldn't figure out with the other thread, this was simple and easy to follow, just a suggestion, when you mention root system folder, it would probably make it less confusing for others if you mention that it's not the actual folder called "root" under system.
Well not sure what I did wrong. Copied over the the two files into the framework folder. The phone froze and rebooted as expected. It then said optimizing about 400 apps. After that finished it just kept saying "Unfortunately, Verizon Login has stopped.", "NFC Service", "com.android.phone", "Google search", "Pica something..." and several others in an endless loop. :/
EDIT: Downloading the stock Verizon tar... What a pitty. I cannot access anything.

Yeah I changed the permissions for both. (Granted I ended up removing permissions?) The only thing I did that might be different from what you said is copy both files with the permissions already changed at the same time then it froze.

I'm not sure why so many people are obsessed with enabling this feature. People like me who don't have unlimited data don't care to piss it away with "boosting" my download speeds. Plus, I don't really download anything worth needing it anyways but all the power to the rest of you

I followed the steps and after it updated apps. My Wifi Tether notification icon has changed. It shows the USB one instead of the usual radio signal icon. and when I click on the notification, it takes me to the USB and Bluetooth tether screen. Whereas before, it took me right to the WIFI Tether screen.
When I backed up the files to change them back, I realized that I backed up the wrong files.
Stupid me.
Does anyone have the stock JAR and ODEX files? I'd rather have the convenience of tether than download booster.
Thanks in advance.

Omg! Thank you so much. I think I should back up my phone first before I do anything else.
Also one more question, is there a setting.odex in the framework folder? I think that's what I copied.

I followed all the way up to replacing services.jar and when I do replace it, it says unfortunately (a bunch of apps) has stopped. It causes me to have to do a battery pull, and when I do power it back on, it gets stuck on the Verizon logo screen. I've tried it a few times with both root explorer, efs file explorer, and both files at the same time/services.jar first. Every time I try, I have to restore my rom using safestrap. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Edit: I tried flashing the zip in the main thread and it's working so far without any hiccups.
@waleed300
Can you put a disclaimer on the OP that states that enabling this (if you have native hotspot enabled) will mess with your WiFi Hotspot toggle since it replaces the services.jar? Hotspot still works, but the running notification is incorrect. Just a thought....

If you want to fix it, you have to replace your services.jar with the stock one (this is how I fixed it with the help of Versatile1). And I had a question, when your mobile hotspot running notification was the correct one, clicking the running notification took you to the hotspot options but did long pressing the quicksetting still take you to the USB tether options? Was just wondering.
Download Booster not using LTE?
So I've had Download Booster enabled for a little while after following this post. I've noticed a couple of things:
1. When downloading large files, DB doesn't always appear and when it does appear, LTE is never used.
2. During the download, DB disappears.
I wasn't sure what the reason was for the odd behavior but was curious to see if anybody else has noticed it.
I would make a donation for a 1-click apk solution like towelroot.

[Q][p6200]CyanogenMod 12.1 Unofficial (2May2015)

This is my first post in XDA, and this is my first custom rom that i've installed (cm-12.1-20150502-UNOFFICIAL-p6200.zip).
I have noted the following main problems:
1) Alert: Unfortunately the process.com.android.phone has stopped
2) Not saving wi-fi password (know issue)
3) Video, the picture sometime freezes (know issue)
Question:
With previuos Andorid (KK), I've used to root the tab the "Framaroot-1.9.3.apk",
but now with the new ROM the APP fails,
how do I give root permissions?
1. Solved by Clear cache to Phone App
-->
Source: Digital Reborn
If you are seeing the error message “Unfortunately the process.com.android.phone has stopped” after you installed a new ROM or updated your firmware, there actually a couple of ways to fix it.
According to Digital Reborn, the error message is triggered by the phone or SIM toolkit application. So, if you are constantly getting the “Unfortunately the process.com.android.phone has stopped” error, here are ways to fix your device:
1. Clear Cache and Data of the Phone App
To access this option, go to Settings. Then, select Apps. Tap the All tab so that all the apps of your device will be displayed in a column. Scroll down until you see “Phone” or an option similar to it. Tap it, followed by selecting the “Clear Cache” option. If the problem persists, repeat the steps and include “Clear Data” in your actions. Reboot your phone for the changes to take effect.
2. Clear Cache and Data of the SIM Toolkit
Repeat the steps shown above. But this time, choose SIM toolkit from the list of apps under the All tab.
3. Fix Using Custom Recovery
Install the latest AROMA file manager, which can be found in the XDA website. Use it to delete the cache or temporary folder of “Phone” as well as the SIM toolkit app. Reboot your device for the changes to take effect.
4. Do a Factory Reset
As a last resort, backup your data and perform a Factory Reset. To do this, shut down your device normally. Next, hold down the Volume Up, Home and Power keys altogether until the phone vibrates. Once it vibrates, let go of the Power key but keep your fingers pressed on the rest. However, once you see the Android logo, let go. From there, backup and do a Factory Reset.
---->
The Root permission works after install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip file from SuperSu(@chainfire) in recovery mode.
Someone know if this Rom support the multiuser functionaliy?
I know that this feature exists, I wrote to you about it, because I tried it but it does not work for me.
When i press my icon account, it it doesnt work it says "the contact doesnt exist"
Thanks in advance
To enable Multi User, I found these:
Just go to /system , edit your "build.prop" file and add the following lines:
# Multi Users
fw.max_users=3
fw.show_multiuserui=1
I'll Try...
Multi-User works with workaround...
i update my galaxy tab 7.0 plus (p6200) to this firmware and install latest gapps for Lollipop 5.1.x.
But the work of my device is extremely unstable.
Example:
i will launch gmail (with branches installed addon) when i try attaching files to email - Reboot.
Installed gdrive - attach files to send, reboot.
Even at times when viewing video from youtube, the same restart! During installation I've done everything wipe (dalvik/cache/system) and date format
You can help me, that I did wrong?
the latest firmware is fantastic. only fault is not working with the Vodafone sim.... no sim detected

Solution for setup wizard keeps stopping

For guys who are unable to proceed after the language selection when a new rom is flashed, Here is the solution. There is no use of going to settings<selecting Apps < searching for setup wizard app < Force stopping and giving permissions again. After lot of attempts successfully got a solution. but dont know how it might effect the daily usage.
Steps:
1. Reboot to TWRP
2. Click on "Mount"
3. Select "Data"(check mark the data option)
4.Click on Mount the selected storage (don't remember the option exactly)
5. Now go back and click on Advanced
6.Select file manager
7. Scroll down and search for System folder
8. Again scroll and search for priv-app folder
9. Now Search for Setup wizard folder.
10. After entering into the folder, u can see setup wizard apk. Simply delete that by pressing the icon at the bottom right corner and choosing on delete option.
11. You can see a promt asking to delete. Simply swipe it.
12. After go back, Make a Factory reset and reboot the device.
The only bad thing is, it doesnt ask for language selection or wifi or google account setup. It directly goes to the launcher. Not sure how this is going to effect the daily usage.
One thing I found is unable to expand notification drawer.Im new to 7.1(Resurrection remix). may be need to explore new options.
Note: if you got process force close error, click on wait and select the launcher.Thats it.
if this thread helped, dont forget to hit thanks.
P.S: Sorry for my simple and bad english
Edit 2: (The perfectly working one)
After selecting language, then long press the power button, go to settings and connect to wifi and then proceed to login to google. This doesnt make setup wizard close.
credits goes to @Di5cip1e .
The problem is also solved by updating to latest GAPPs. The ROM you were trying to set up was updated to 7.1.2 and the GAPPs you were using were old.
Nice thanks

How To: Install Google Camera on Stock Rooted LG Stylo 3 Plus

*MUST HAVE ROOT*
First thing you will need to do is *have root, and TWRP* set up on the device.
If you don't have that done yet this WILL NOT be possible for you here. If that is the case there is a great guide here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/recovery-twrp-v3-lg-stylo-3-plus-t3649621
The LG Camera works wonderfully in my opinion, but, the Google Camera has a couple features I like, that the stock camera simply doesn't. Photo Sphere, and Lens Blur.
Panorama is great, but it only works in straight lines. With Photo Sphere you can take omni-directional pictures. Pretty cool, and worth the effort to spoil your phone and yourself with such a great feature!
Continuing on... let's begin shall we?
You will need to head over to OpenGApps to download the GApps "Aroma" for ARM, Android: 7.0.
Save this to your phone's internal or SD (somewhere easy for you to find later in TWRP to flash)
Use a BuildProp editor (I personally used the one within ROM Toolbox Lite)
Find the setting called "RO.BUILD.TYPE"
Change the value from user to eng
This will want you to reboot. Do it.
You should now see a red text overlay on your home screen saying eng and some other info.
This step is ONLY to by-pass the signature check when attempting to install. (which will otherwise fail in user mode)
Now reboot into recovery (TWRP)
Go to "Install" and select your GApps file (open_gapps-arm-7.0-aroma-20171214.zip)
once it runs, select *only* the Google Camera.
-Tap Next.
If you want to keep the Stock Camera (I would, at least until we are 100% sure you won't have any issues later, and need it again, since I haven't really tested this out for more than just an hour or so since figuring it out..) then
Check the box for :
+CameraStock
-Tap Next
Nothing to do on this page, we don't want to remove anything.
-Tap next again
Now we are on Advanced Options
Not sure if it is needed (haven't tested) or not, but just to be safe, I checked the ForceClean box.
-Tap Next and Install.
For me, It hung a little at the end of install.. just tap or drag on the screen and it will come to its senses lol.
Reboot to System
You should now have a working google camera installed.
*But, Wait Just A Minute! We Aren't Done Yet!*
Now we need to go back into BuildProp and set RO.BUILD.TYPE back to user
Reboot again.
Now your Google Camera is broken due to lack of permissions!? No problem. Simply head into your settings>general>apps and select the newly installed Google Camera, go into it's permissions and you'll notice they are all off. Turn them back on.
DONE. Working Google Camera on your Rooted Stock Android 7.0, 10c/10d firmware!

After flashing lineage just flash gapps. You don't have to do the build.prop editing when flashing gapps to lineage.

Follow Instructions Carefully otherwise you will get error :
Wipe cache, dalvic cache,system,data
Flash ROM-Flash Gapps
Done-Reboot Now
Enjoy the clean rom
Tested and working on 10e firmware.
After installing, TWRP says there was an error, gapps aroma said it installed, but after restarting phone google camera was there and working.
After changing ro.build.type from eng to user I did not have to reset permissions. They stayed the same.
After changing the build prop stuff I never got the red text on my home screen. And after the install I had no errors but Google camera wasn't installed.
