What is The Best 4" Android Phone? - General Questions and Answers

Hi..
What is the best 4" Android phone in the market? I used to use Galaxy Nexus but that phone is HUGE!
So I am looking for a beast performance phone with 4" or 3.7" screen and ICS on it.

Lava XOLO X900 but it is available in India Only

Don't know the best on the market now, but my friend has a HTC Incredible S and that on is 4". The processor is 1 Ghz, but instead of standard 512 mb ram, this one has 768 mb ram instead.
If you were willing to go a bit bigger, like 4.3" display, then the HTC One S. 1 gb ram and 1.5 Ghz dual core processor.
These are the only ones I can think about, and both has got official ICS.

Go for a 4.3" and I'll recommend the HTC One S.

yes lava xolo is beast ....
atom processor and 400 MHz of gpu.....
and $400

OR

If you really need it to be exactly 4", then I would suggest the LG Optimus 2X (or G2X).

Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX(You know it's a beast if they had to name it in capital)
Lenovo lephone k800 shipped from China.
Meizu MX also from China(retina display )
Lava xolo from India
Toshiba Arrows Z (waterproof/dustproof quad core)
HTC Sensation XE.

+1. I'm in search for the best 4" (exactly) as well. 8mp, dual core and the cheapest in its class.

[Q] Porting CyanogenMod 7 ?

We love CM7 and want to see it in Desire S.
Desire S and Desire HD are both hardware basically same. Can we port CM7 from Desire HD to Desire s ? i dont think its very hard to get it working.
Hardware:
Desire S: 1 GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon
1.1 GB ROM, 768 MB RAM
Desire HD: 1 GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon
1.5 GB ROM, 768 MB RAM
it would very cool if anyone port it to desire s. i hope i am not the only one loving Cm7 rom.
(sorry for my poor english)
Good luck if you want to, Desire S has a locked bootloader so therefore it's gonna take someone who has the phone and has experience in Android ROMs to be able to port it.

[Q] Xperia Arc or Optimus Black P970?

Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy an Android phone and have narrowed it down to these two phones. There doesn't seem to be much between them in the specs. Are there any good/bad points worth knowing about either phone that might help me decide?
I intend to root and probably install CFW, both seem quite well supported in that regard. Is there much difference between the processors?..
Optimus Black - 1 GHz Cortex-A8 processor, PowerVR SGX530 GPU, TI OMAP 3630 chipset
Xperia Arc - 1GHz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon
Thanks!
Arc. The screen is miles better =]

[Q] Galaxy nexus Vs Sensation XL ... which one has a better gpu for gaming?

okay, I know galaxy nexus is dual-core and all, while sensation xl is single core;
but here is the thing ... i heard the galaxy nexus is using the nexus s' gpu, (if im not mistaken,) which is a bit old.
And also, galaxy nexus has to render extra pixels due to HD display, compared to sensation xl's wvga screen.
Considering these two factors, which one shows better performance in gaming?
I think i should've asked this in the general section? ... Wasn't really sure, Sorry if It's in the wrong place
Both the Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus are powered by PowerVR SGX 540, but the SGX 540 in the OMAP 4460 is running at 384 MHz, which is almost twice as fast as in the Nexus S.

Thanks for the reply .... but how does that compare to sensation xl's gpu?
Im also interested to know about this GPU comparison and actual performance between these two phones, meanwhile i am planning to exchange my Sensation Xl with Galaxy nexus. Does it worth changing it? Somebody suggest Plz )

Engadget review: http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/27/intels-xolo-x900-by-lava-hands-on/
I'm trying to understand where this device stands comparing to other new devices announced at MWC 12.
Only single core but it's Intel and I don't think we have comparison data between this and the different ARM processors.
Screen smaller than the current trend of minimum 4.3''.
Intel promise good battery life and everything else seems quite good so I assume mid-range class but I have no idea if it has the quality of other devices in this category like the HTC One S or Xperia P.
Would love to hear opinions about this device.
As an added question,
Would you suffice with such device or go with HTC One X? (assuming budget is not an issue).
Sounds like it has a lot of promise!
I heard the price was about Rs.22000(apx.$440). For a single core processor i think its too much when we can get a dual core for about the same price.
may be,
But guys, lava promised that this will have an ICS update soon, and all mobiles out which have dual core, do you think they are actually necessary. There are many battery dragging features in dual core. And Here, No more ARM you are getting a processor created buy Intel with 1.6MHZ Where you get 2Mhz processor provided by lg recently.( commoon intel is Legend in PC core processors), they promised that you will have the best charging life than any other mobile out in market. May be cost is bit high, but I think 18k is enough for this mobile. Which is already available.
Europe version
It will have an europe version with Orange, called Orange Santa Clara
Today i have received a package from one of our custumers and Xolo X900 was inside ;-) .... till monday i have to compare this phone with the iPhone 4s and Samsung Galaxy SIII ... i will post then some pics and facts...
It really looks nice, but with the 4 touch buttons and the hole in the display it not really seens to be up to date...
More in a few days...
Orange San Diego is Intel. Its £200... Not sure in India a I'm not Indian...

Orange San Diego and Intel XOLO X900 both are same except for the firmware. Orange San Diego have generic GB with Orange branding. XOLO doesn't have any branding. There is another sibling to this device in Russia. I don't remember what they call it.

If this is the price on offer, then surely this handset would not have an impact in the Indian market..
Seems overpriced

Lenovo P700 HIGH END flagship phone

iHey guys, I was reading my local tech site and found the Lenovo P700 flagship phone, 4" screen, 1GHz processor, ICS, and many more sweet spots.
About the price, it is Php 10,999 (Php 44 = $1)
The dual sim capabilities are unnecessary for me as of now. Also, as I was a bit lazy to read, What is the RAM, 512MB is acceptable.
bump, this thread almost went to the abyss!
It has an MTK6575 1ghz processor, SGX531 gpu, 512mb ram, ICS 4.0.3, with a monster 2500mA batt. Oops and its dual sim capable if that might interest you.
