About time the power button was used for taking pictures. It's so damned annoying and hard to take pictures while tapping the screen and the picture goes out of focus. Thanks for the share pod

i doubt it will work, Camera.apk in GB and FROYO are completely different. Or atleast it is for now. If you replace stock Camera.apk in FROYO using TB of GB you get force close error and vice versa.
tested on froyo.doesnt work.

Sad doesn't work in froyo...

Well, I tried it on Froyo before reading the above posts and... it doesn't work.
BUT I have a small problem now: I backed up the original apk, and used Titanium Backup to backup the camera application again (to be safe). After trying out the new apk (and doing a reboot), I just replaced it with the original one, and rebooted again. Problem is that the system just doesn't recognize it. And Titanium Backup just hangs when restoring the app.
So, there is no icon, the app is not installed, and I can't use the camera now. Any ideas?
EDIT: If someone could post the original Froyo Camera.odex (and apk, to be safe), this would be great. I expect this to solve my problem.

:O Should just let TB restore App+data for camera o.o, Try a hardboot and see if you have that option not freezing up on you
@ Misledz: As I said, TB hangs when restoring => It doesn't restore the app. Rebooted many times, didn't fix it either.
But just learned that you can extract files from .rfs images, and did that for my firmware - camera is working again!

Power button doesn't work on XXPE. Don't know about the power level yet..
Yep, I I accidentally the whole thing. I clicked the wrong button in TIBU.
Anyways, I got the phone yesterday, updated it to 2.3.6, and rooted it, but otherwise left it alone. I just rooted so I could restore my apps from my previous phone with TIBU. I did not restore data. Today, I was trying to fix an issue I was having with accounts and sync, and I meant to freeze it, but I hit uninstall and wasn't paying attention to the prompts, so it uninstalled it. It was backed up, but I can't re-install it. I even found the app's .apk in system/app folder, and tried to re-install it but it will not, it just tries for like a second and then says "Not installed". The option is now missing from my settings menu.
I would really like a way to fix it without having to wipe and re-install the OS, but if I have to I can.
nb4 "did you search?" yes, I did. I couldn't find anything that helped.
Thanks in advance, everyone.
Download a rom for your phone thats2.3.6 and unzip it. Go into system/app and take the apk that u need. Push it to your system/app folder with root explore. Change permissions to the ones on the pic and reboot and u should be good.

I pushed the file and changed permissions to exactly as shown in the picture, and it still came back with "application not installed"
Edit: DERP, big time derp, forgot to reboot. one minute.
Edit 2: changed permissions, rebooted, still would not install.

I did that, but the Applications and Sync option is not there.
If I did a recovery update to 2.3.6 again, would that fix it perhaps? or will it not let me update it that way since it's already on 2.3.6?

Actually, I did just that, and it fixed it! sigh. I wish I had thought of that right away. Now I'm back to my original problem that I was trying to fix, though. When i try to add my facebook account in accounts and sync, I click on add account, select the facebook icon, and it just goes back to the previous page without doing anything.
Oh well. At least I got the big problem fixed, thank you for helping.

reflash whatever rom you currently have, but don't wipe the data/factory reset. Since the file you need is in the system folder it'll rewrite.

I just ran the 2.3.6 update again. It fixed it, but it turns out that the problem I was trying to fix in the first place which led me to uninstall the app was not a problem at all, it was google locking out facebook sync on nexus S meh, whatever. I only did it for the pictures anyways. Thanks though!

I use and like a lot more QuickPic. Get it from the app market and see if it will show them. If it shows them and you want your stock gallery read this. You also may try the often easy fix of fixing permissions in CWM.
Mediaprovider.apk is missing from your device isn't it? If so I'll get you a copy of it tonight when i get out of work.
Or get it from another rom and push it to system/app
This could very well be your problem.

There is an app in the market called SD Rescan that should help you. It scans your SD Card for all files.
Hmmm. And I'm sure you've unmounted/remounted since you put it all on there XD hey, never know...
Yeah id try reflashing, you said your on Val final? You should try out ravers cm hybrid, it's super slick man...

Hi guys!
Is there a way to remove the annoying notification of the 4.4.3 update?
I have no problems with the update itself, but I'm using a Custom ROM (CM11).
I've tried disabling notifications for Google Services Framework and com.lge.update and freezing com.lge.update with Titanium.
None of these worked...
Do you guys now a way to disable it?
Thanks in advance

I'm in the same boat... running CM11 M6. I got an error notification for the 4.4.3 update last night stating that it couldn't download (I'm assuming because of running CM). Today at lunch I was having problems with LTE connectivity so I rebooted and it worked then. Found out a few hours later that after I rebooted my phone used over 500MB of data even though I wasn't using it and my battery drained down quite a bit as well.
My cell provider shows I've used that much data but my phone doesn't. My guess is that it's trying to constantly download the update? Yet I can't find any way to turn this off.
Thanks for any help you guys can give!

Check /data/fota or /cache/fota for the downloaded update, rename folder (+otacerts.zip), reboot again. Fixed now? This method used to work. Maybe it no longer does.

Whatever file explorer you are using you may have to allow it to see "hidden files" or grant root access or possibly both.
I'm having the same issue as well, except I didn't download the update. I've tried renaming the cert to .bak, rebooted, and no go. Then I took the whole damn cert file and moved it to my downloads folder, cleared Google system framework data, and rebooted. It's been about 5 minutes with no pop up, but I'm not holding my breath.
I've also heard that changing a line in your build.prop tricks the updater into thinking you already have 4.4.3, but I don't what what it is that needs to be changed...

I don't even see these folders.
I have hidden files enabled in Solid Explorer :/
I've tried everything posted here, rebooted around 5 times, but it's still showing up.
Are you guys sure that otacerts.zip is responsible for the upfate message?
I even tried moving it into my download folder (after the .bak method doesn't worked), but I still have the notification...
Which is the system app, that searches for updates? I thought it's com.lge.update, but it seems that it's not.
We should try to freeze / uninstall that with Titanium. :/
You can also use ongoing system notification blocker to get rid of the update constantly being shown.
Thanks guys I got it. After renaming the above mentioned folder I cleared Google framework and the notification is gone.

I'm not sure why anyone has stated this and I realize that the problem has already been solved, but this can easily be fixed using Developer Options in CM11
1) Go to settings> about phone
2) Scroll all the way down to build number and repeatedly tap it until it says something along the lines of "You are now a developer"
3) Go back to settings then go to developer options
4) A little less than halfway down is an option called 'Development shortcut'. Tick that box
Now, you can get rid of any pesky notification that can't be swiped away. Simply tap and hold it, then select 'Force close'. This works with any apps running in the background by doing the same thing from the app switcher. Hope this helps!
I just cleared data on Google services framework and haven't had the notification popup yet. Have rebooted a couple times, so far so good. Been about 6hours.

Nvm, about 12 hours in it popped back up

A few days ago I accidentally got rid of it by tapping the download button for no reason (I'm on a custom ROM), then rebooting right after. Hasn't come up since LOL.
Dude,
That sucks! When I had my Galaxy S3...the update notification made me very mad. Did you try the the other way of doing it (mentioned in the earlier of this forum)?

In your build.prop find the ro.build.fingerprint line. Change it to this:
ro.build.fingerprint=google/hammerhead/hammerhead:4.4.3/KTU84M/1158763:user/release-keys

I cleared the framework cache and data and it gives me the error where play store cant load, so then i have to go delete my google accounts and reinput them. And then the notification comes back after 12 hrs or so.
I followed the steps on this other related thread and it worked for me.

So a lot of apps just refuse to install on my Nexus 5. They just don't install. After I press Install on the permissions screen, it just gives me an error "App Not Installed". I've tried installing from the apk as well. I have tried deleting all the /data folders. I have changed my ROM too. Anyone has a fix for this?

Nope. It was actually something in android itself. Had to change the default app install location from Auto to Internal using the terminal. Since the nexus 5 doesnt have and external SD, apps cant be installed on it but sometimes androids "Auto" install location doesnt work and tries to install apps into the external sd card. Thats why the app installs fail.
