[DEV][TEAM WX435] has arrived! - Motorola Triumph

To all the XDA Motorola Triumph fans we have arrived. We have packed our bags from Android Forums and this will be our new stomping ground. We took most of the dev's and formed a collaborative team
https://github.com/WX435
We will be working on making the Motorola Triumph a much better phone and all working together to fix many issues. Right now our main goal is working on rewriting our device files for CM7 and then moving those files into CM9 and AOKP. If we continue to have success we may also start working on AOSP flavors like Gingerbread and ICS as well. Stay tuned for some radical changes and fixes!

Now we just need to talk to B_randon and Austrie

Hey I'm all in over here!! So we jumped ship at androidforums lol!! ! I have to get my buntu install back up and running on my laptop and ill be back in the dev game!

Well you have the kernel skills that is for sure! And that sir is a big deal!

Yeah I wish I had time to mess with the 2.6.35 and 3.0 kernels more! There isn't any reaseon why our phone wont run its its just a matter of porting all the triumph changes in and getting them to play nice with the newer kernels!

Like should i keep my eye out for [ROM][TEAM WX435] in the titles?

Hi, G60, can you comment on this latest development here: http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...d-sharp-2-2-2-triumph-mms-now-working-5.html?
It seems that using this remodeled Sharp ROM, everything in HW (including AGPS) can be made to work. Is that something which can be leveraged for general development? If so, perhaps in the spirit of team building, everyone can pull together to get one ROM out to use as a basis. Sorry, I'm a dev IRL, but don't know much about how these ROMs are built (from source? provided binaries?). I can help if we're shorthanded doing such a thing.
Thanks.

agent,
Right now our focus is CM7. I am currently reworking the device files for the phone, trying to make everything perfect. I have already downloaded the sharp ROM and will dive into it more to pull out the AGPS to see if I can make it work in CM7. Right now my focus has been on the video and it's getting much better but still needs some tweaks. b_randon is working on the kernel, we are hoping to upgrade that as well. Once I have the device files done will then be reworking them into CM9 & AOKP along with kernel. It's a slow process as we have completely started from scratch. Just know we are working it :good:

Ok, thanks. I just tried out the Sharp ROM, and another thing its seems to get right is deep sleep while wifi is on. I'm not sure if it's doing it correctly or just turning it on when screen is unlocked (not sure what's default on android), but I had auto-sync on. I've never had wifi deep sleep work before (Juicedefender has a bug here). That's kind of a big deal since we've previously had to trade off battery life for speed. Wifi-on is also instant whereas it takes a while in Juicedefender.

UPDATE 4.10.11 - Moving my learning curve towards a more user-biased concept - see x99percent or scaryghoul for GREAT kernels!
OP Here - http://romrepo.info/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=20
WARNING! Will not have wifi working and will not work properly on cm nightlies 31+, newest MIUI, Evervolvs new release may still not have the new video drivers. See original link for details.
Git: https://github.com/smoothtaste/speedy-gb
Proof of concept, with my sd reader fried I need a bigger test base to see if its going in the right direction and actually being used by end-users. If anyone is up to helping me with merges and such while I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere it'd be pretty sweet
Original goal: bring an OC/UV kernel to the table for 2.3 aosp roms with proper smartass governor implementation *as per x99percents interpretation. Then as kernel matures implement into aosp build (A few of my fellow users have agreed to or already are working on this.)
Git cloned toastcfh, not used to having to list things publicly so my git is sloppy. ENTIRE kernel base is toastcfh. I just cloned him a few moments too early, cause the video drivers are already outdated.
Inserted freq/voltage tables found in x99's sense kernels. Also implemented x99s interpretation of the governors, great work.
Very special thanks to scaryghoul for repeatedly telling me how far too far really is, for giving me a couple great scripts (which I then misused, hence broken wifi.) And for just being a cool mofo who knows some shiz.
UPDATE 4.10.11 - Moving my learning curve towards a more user-biased concept - see x99percent or scaryghoul for GREAT kernels!
You have been warned, I am teaching myself at my own pace and there might not be ANY reason YOU should use this. Unless you wanna help me get better, of course.
REMEMBER! Not cm7 31+ or newest miui. Will have a VERY hard time scrolling.

Changelog!
V.0.0.fail
Merged with toastcfh 3.27 - integrated x99percents freq tables and governor patches. Made into flashable zip thanks to scaryghouls script - and in turn destroyed wifi functionality. My mistake :X
If anyone does this on the correct roms I'm looking for battery life and performance infos. If we get a lil attention, we'll go ahead and bring the public release up to date.

Who are the Dev for D720?

So who are the developers that are going to be developing for the Samsung Nexus S 4G (D720)? I figured this is a question everyone has been wondering. Im very excited to get started with my Nexus S 4G! (Previously came from the HTC Evo and there were alot of dedicated dev., Hope to see the same here)
P.S I didnt put this in the Q&A Because this is a direct question to the developers in this section about the current ROM's Available. Please don't be upset : )
I hope netarchy puts up a rom with his liquid smooth touches. His evo rom + kernel was ILL.
The thing is, the nexus s and ns4g are dev phones, bare bone AOSP, so a custom rom is just gunna be "themed" a bit and/or the real "improvements" are in the Kernel or any additional apps the dev has created.
I would love to see a bunch of ports make their way over. I would imagine that a dev phone would be one of the easiest to port/build for (easy for a dev, not the average human )
in a way, we all are.. who is to say that someone has to be a "dev" to make something, or find out what may fix something? on the heroc we had hundreds of users sitting in an irc room helping each other trying to figure out why things didnt work and what would happen if we pressed this button 7 times instead of 4..
so in short grab some code and lets start working my repo is synced and already compiled im working with the rest of the ACS team to see if we cant bring some lovins on over from the epic/evo
trying to come up with a good name for the rom >.>
Well, its very time consuming. I did alot of theming in the past, then wrote a few apps for WebOS, but just don't seem to have the time anymore with fulltime work, college, etc.
You are right tho, anyone can learn and the nexus line are a great place to start, simple and not complicated. Come on young high-school minds with oodles of time! Make ur name known! Lol
Really tho, I wish I could contribute more

This number one thing to do is get ur pc ready with the right software and drivers (there are a couple applications for compiling/decompiling and signing, not just what u use for root)
There's a thread around here about theming for the epic. It has a nice intro to the basic setup ull need, just be sure to replace anything epic with sns, u can then move on to ROMs once u understand what composes a ROM. When I'm back at my PC I could probably hook u up w a good place to start, but right now I'm out and about after this heathen Bulls game! Woot woot!

If I may suggest, Epic 4G is just about the same as the NS4G. From what I hear they got our stock to work on Epic just after I posted this.
I know they have the CM7 half way ported on Epic as well as the obvious stock with the TouchWiz interface for whoever likes that stuff I figured this would be the easiest place to start.
stop spamming this, its not going to work, for the same reasons why i explained in your thread about it
It probably will work as much as flashing a Droid ROM onto a Milestone...same hardware...epic fail.
more so then that all they currently have is a .32 cm7 kernel a semi working .35 cm7 kernel and their stock .32 touchwiz kernel.. we only have .35 stock kernel, even if you could get past the bootloops good luck trying to make a phone call or get crap to stop force closing
Spamming? Chill out man. I'm just trying to help.

OK so the hold up now seems to be LG right? in search for lg device drivers?
I think its ready for a ALPHA test now.. touchscreen works 100% and so does the radio wifi etc.. hardware acceleration wont be coming anytime soon but i can live without it for now
There are a lot of things that will need to be ironed out before we can even consider a beta.
First hand, without hw acceleration the phone crawls.

Hope you can get HW acceleration to work soon. Can't you do whatever other roms like cyanogen mod did?
Its not like they got exclusive access to tegra drivers...
The problem is the binary blob implements hw acceleration according to the way Gingerbread expects it which is different than how Honeycomb and ICS do it.
I've seen at least one person talk about rewriting the library from the android side to match how the nVidia blob works. Which would be a good backup plan if LG renegs on the ICS update for our phones.

I understand it's not as easy as copy paste source code, but the strategy should be the similar. I've never done any low level development so I'm just shooting in the dark here.
Also cm9 is expected in 2 months and I assume it will support the g2x. I wouldn't count on lg for anything. So rewriting the library is probably the best bet.
Glad to see so many new people jumping on and helping out. I'm sure most people here would help if they knew how.
Thanks for the work, guys! Where can we donate?
I've been a lurker on these forums for a long time and never realized I had to have 10 posts to post in the developer forums, so at least I can post in this thread. I will be getting up to speed on the ICS source over the next couple days and hope to join the effort in development of the port to the g2x as soon as I have my dev environment up. I'll be sitting in the IRC channel to ingest the info on where you guys are at so that I can jump in and help with any parts (sound maybe?) that you guys need assistance with.
Great job so far, hopefully I can be of assistance.

Man,
I wish we had that many devs on our phone
Oh well, if we had more on cm7, it will help us collect more info on our phone so we can try a port to ics or aosp, or whatever...
Think of cm7 as a 'information collector' we can use to do new projects in the future.
I'd love to hop on this project, but I can't handle that much multitasking. I think we'd get further with more people on cm7, and then later do an ics port.

Just to update everyone. I managed to get fix a couple of things. When I hit the menu button while in setup wizard, I can get into the wireless menu. However, after navigating thru the setup wizard, the homescreen/lockscreen doesn't show. It's coming together, slowly but surely...
Keep up the great work Thomas!
I made some good progress, I think anyways...lol
I installed swype and was able to get past the setup wizard properly.

Still no homescreen, but I know where the problems lie and will be working on them tomorrow...

[4.2.x][Infuse4g] Jellybean Kernel Port Project

So everyone knows that situation we are in with our kernel.... At the moment, its DECENT, but it is extremely outdated. Although it is enough to keep things working at the moment, who knows what may happen with future OS releases... We have had no official support since the days of gingerbread. Myself and a handful of other developers have been making changes/additions when needed and to the best of our abilities, but with such an outdated kernel, it is getting harder and harder to make necessary changes to work with the existing source.
As of right now, this will be a two man project... Myself and rwaterspf1. Those of you who are not familiar with rwaterspf1, that is the member that recently donated his infuse to me. I got to talking with him and it turns out that he is not a stranger around kernel development in other areas. I am currently talking with a couple other people and may get some assistance from them as well.
We will be attempting to add support for the infuse4g into the Aries kernel. - Which is a updated and supported kernel
This is DAY ONE, and nothing has been done yet. This is the very beginning and for those of you that are not familiar with kernel development, there is alot that goes into it, so do NOT expect this to be completed with a day or two. This will be an ONGOING development thread.
As a disclaimer, I want to make sure that everyone is aware that this may NOT work at all and may just be a huge fail. We will try our best and from the looks of it, I think its definitely something we can figure out.
This is a WORK IN PROGRESS, and we ask that you all support us even in the event of failure.
Progress can be found -> HERE
Efforts as of 4/28/2013
* MTD partition table and file system files added into kernel
* Touchscreen drivers copied over
* Added video driver files and edited existing files
* Edited modem files for infuse compatibilities
* Infuse edits added to sec_jack file for compatibility
You can find rwaterspf1's profile from HERE
There will be numerous benefits if we are able to do this... And hell... who knows.... it may even fix up the 720p recording issue in doing this... No promises though.
I'm willing to try. And I'm last to throw rocks as long as great effort is given. And seeing your roms, don't think you have any other mindset.

You are awesome for attempting this. Thank you. If you need my help in anyway, just let me know.
And btw, i got the new beanstalk boot animation started. But its still a ways to go. And no, the forecast doesn't call for tacos.

If anyone here can pull this off, its you Scott. You have been an instrumental part of EVERY great thing we have for our Infuse, as noted by your mention in 99.9% of the custom ROMs. You have my support regardless of its success

There will definitely be testers needed in the up coming days here... At the moment we literally just started and are working on moving over the infuse specific files we will need to add into the aries kernel tree for our device. Hope to have this booting within a couple days...
PS... Thank you for the donation Alexis .... Its funny how you mentioned about the energy drinks because more then likely thats exactly where itll go...

Scott, as always I am way open for testing. I'm still running the Beanstalk build with the kernel modifications and WiFi drivers you let me test. Best. Build. Ever.

Thanks for all the support. Ill keep everyone in mind. Also, I reached out to one of the Cyanogenmod developers for some advice and he gave me some assistance as for what will be needed... Feeling pretty confident, but like i said... definitely not going to be a quick job.
Scott I've said it before but I'll say it again you are awesome! If anyone can pull this off it's you. I'm willing to beta test like all the others. Thanks a million for making my phone amazing.

I'm willing to test the kernel.
720p, MHL and proper Bluetooth drivers would make this device capable of becoming official, but how old can the device be and still be capable of all new releases?
Always in to help and do what I can to try and get things working right. Scott is the man on the infuse as of late, but we can't forget who started all this...
Good luck guys!
