Because it was new to me I had chosen face unlock, if not pattern as you know. I wanted to disable any security and go back to slide, but the option was grey and wont let me change. I chose pattern now and even face unlock option is turned grey. Only options left are pin and password. I just want to use the slide, how do I return to default options?
Thanx
No one?

Have you tried selecting either pin or password? Maybe it'd let you go back to slide unlock then.
No I tried that. It only leaves me with pattern, pin, and password options. Should i clear the credentials?

Try a cold boot. If that doesn't work, maybe a factory reset.

Cold boot didnt work. What the hell! On Transformer prime I used to switch between screen unlock options easily. Here I read "Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage". There is no administrator here! How do I re-enable the first three options? I am going nuts!
Can anyone check if they can easily switch between screen unlock options? Is this a bug? I dont want to go back to factory defaults. I didnt root that one and I dont have a backup. I want to know have I messed something or is this a universal bug, so that Asus would fix.
Just tried face, PIN and pattern unlock and was able to return to Slide without a problem every time. It seems a bit drastic for such a thing, but maybe try a factory reset?

Thanx a lot. Then I'll try a factory reset to see.

Just cleared credentials and it is OK now.

First of all you did NOT have to restore factory settings to fix this. But for some reason this procedure isn't even explained very well, even in the Nexus 7 Handbook. Maybe because in Pattern setting, you have to "Confirm the Pattern" before given the various Unlock Options screen. Duh.... yeah I know because I felt so dumb when I finally figured this out. Do your pattern and it magically unlocks the choices screen again. That aren't hidden when you use the slide or other settings in Security settings panel. The menu choices just show up only after confirming the Unlock choice you're using at that time!
If this fails and you truly are unable to unlock the choices menu, then you can try a Factory Reset. But first try dumping credentials as a last ditch measure to fix the problem. I hope this can help someone else, that was as frustrated as you and I were!!! .....I've seen where lots of new Android users especially, get tripped up by that pattern match unlock w/ "Confirm Pattern", not knowing it's to unlock the menu!

hey guys,
any of you found an app to replace the swipe unlock for the unlock pattern, rather than having both?
not urgent as this is the best phone I've ever had, but would be a nice touch.

You're right... but it's such a shame don't you think... really no need for the swipe, if you have the pattern....
I thought that was the case...
May look into how hard it will be to create an app to do it
The swipe unlock can be replaced with iphone/hero/donut/eclair style unlocking using the lockbot app. So I think an app should be able to solve this (However I'm not capable of making suck apps).
there is a free app called "No Lock" which simply disables the lock screen apparently. If you have the pattern lock underneath this then i guess you would just get that.
i haven't tried this, but just came across it by accident and it reminded me of this thread
Thanks for that, but no luck
It disables both the lock and the unlock screens (if that makes sense)
It is quite handy if you are at home and have the phone on a table and having a text conversation where you keep turning the screen on and off, but not quite what I wanted
I wonder if this is something that could be built on top of to give us what we want, I will email the Dev of this app and see what they say about it.
I will update when I know more
Right then guys, I have had a response from BoD
I sent them this:
Good afternoon,
I have downloaded the no lock app for android. It is great app, however, there are quite a few users of android who would like to see an app that would remove the lock screen but keep the pattern unlock screen or pin screen etc. Im hoping you are open to suggestions, and as you have created the app to remove the lock screens completely (which is pretty much halfway there), I was wondering if you were thinking of creating an app capable of this?
If you are and would like beta testers, I'm sure i could get a few volenteers together to do so.
Thanks,
To which they responded (very quickly too):
Hi!
Unfortunately there is no way (that I know of) to do that currently.
I hope you'll enjoy the app anyway.
Have a nice day,
So.... It looks like they are not aware of how this can be done, IF it can be done, which is a shame.
Thanks sungrad for pointing the app out though
no probs sorry it wasn't much use
it exists in the security settings in the phone (pattern lock ) just enable it

I have the pattern unlock enabled.
The problem is that to unlock my phone now I have the swipe (with the triangle and the curve) and the pattern unlock. I want the pattern unlock to replace the swipe unlock, rather than be requested as well as the swipe unlock.
It's only a minor issue I have, but it does get annoying when you are using it a lot (text conversation etc)

it is really annoying but i have an idea the application mananger if we could know its name we could deactivate it like what they do with htc devices they deactivated htc sense
nobody has a solution for that?
Not exactly what you're after but there are widgets that toggle the unlock pattern off/on. You could toggle the unlock pattern off when texting so you only have to do the swipe. SwitchPro Widget has this feature but I haven't tested it with X10.
EDIT: Found this. It may be what you're after http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.brandongoodman.smartlock
Bump? I just wonder if anyone found a solution to this? I would really want what the OP states
just wanted to add... be careful with the "pattern lock" ... it literally disables your phone after 5 wrong pattern tries. I nearly did a system wipe just to unlock it.. Luckily for me it accepted my email account with "null" for password to re-enable it
I had that no lock app and it looked nice and handy but it messed with the pattern and slide default unlock when I went to uninstall, all I wanted was the pattern but no matter what way I set it,the swipe unlock would always be there, after loads of reboots and setting/unsetting a lock pattern it still did`nt work, this is after I uninstalled, after I dont know how many reboots even when I had the pattern enabled the swipe would come up first then the pattern, sometime only the swipe, it worked itself out, so be cautious of it....
please help me
If your problem is too many pattern attempts try this.
Call the phone from another phone.
Answer the problem phone, hit the back key while call is still engaged. From there hit menu and go into settings. You may be able to remove pattern lock or do a factory reset. You will lose your apps etc but not your info on sd card. I fixed one for a friend with this method before. Might take a few goes to get it right.

That has't worked since before 2.1.......
Hey guy, I got a galaxy s blaze recently and just rooted it today. I came across the problem of my home screen showing through my lock screen, no matter what type of unlocking method I use- whether it be passcode, the normal swipe to unlock, or the patter, it always shows through. It worked fine before, but I booted into CWM recovery on accident and when I rebooted to get out, it was like this. The pictures should help you guys understand what I'm talking about if you don't already. Please use noob friendly language, because I am a noob (although I hate to admit it...). Thanks for the help (first post by the way)
I believe there us a setting under display that allows you to use a picture for the unlock screen

I had the exact same problem until I went into the options and chose to use my wallpaper as my lockscreen image.
Thanks, I figured it out. Also, does anybody know how to make it so then when you lock the phone is requires you to slide to unlock and then prompts you to put in the passcode/pattern?

I believe that requires a change in the frameworks but not sure

If helped don't be afraid to hit the thanks button it doesn't bite lol
This happens after you fix permissions, if it happens again just change to a new wallpaper/ lock screen wallpaper and it will be fine.

Hi I have a nexus 5. Got the OTA 2 days ago and I cannot see the sensitive option. Please help.
I jus realized it needs to have a phone lock (pattern, pin, etc) to show up. Is that true or its a bug that probably needs a factory reset?
Hello all. I have a problem. I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to set my lock screen to 'None'. I've tried:
Disabling fingerprints and fingerprint unlock,
Disabling smart unlock and any trusted agents
Disabling and uninstalling Android Pay and Android Wallet,
Disabling NFC,
I have no VPNs
I have no administrators enabled,
I have cleared my credential storage,
powered off my phone and powered it back on
I do not have any encryption enabled
and still 'None' is grayed out with the "Disabled by Administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage" message.
I just can't think of anything else to try in order to disable the lockscreen. Can anyone please help me?:crying: Thank you for anyone help anyone can offer. I'm desparate!
You seem to have tried everything. Only thing else I can think of is I know sometimes if apps are allowed draw over others, the phone can block some security settings.
Just a suggestion, but if you go into your apps in settings and change it there, maybe it'll work
All I can suggest then is a factory reset unfortunately, I cannot think of anything else to change
Sorry I couldn't be of more help
Draw over other apps
Should I disable Draw over other apps for every app in the list or any one in particular?

I have exactly the same problem, after factory reset it s ok,but after instalation couples of apps and other stufs again is the same...i dont know where is problem...is anybody resolve this without factory reseting phone?
We have this issue on our Honor 8. It's my son's phone so I can't test possible solutions. One I read was to remove all credentials. Since I don't have the phone, I have no idea where credentials are. Another I read said to create a pattern lock and a pin emergency lock. Use the WRONG pattern 5 times or until it requires the back-up pin. Enter back-up pin then the "none" choice returned. It will be a few more weeks before I have access to the phone. If either works, please report back.
