Ok I've been trying to figure this out for about 4 hours now . This morning i was running CM7 R10 no problems at all (I've been running it since it came out) and i did a backup because i wanted to Odin KJ6 and try a new rom. It backed up fine and i Odined the official KJ6 rom with the sms KJ6 v2 kernel. Thats where my problem started. It kept booting up to the Team acid splash and it would say converting data partition, then a few seconds later it would say not enough space. I tried formating data and it said it couldn't mount. Odd. Then i odined another rom. No dice. Now my phone just keeps looping. Can anyone help me at all? I have no insurance and i don't have a backup phone :/
Try the KJ6 Heimdall One-Click to see if it will work for you. You can use the guide in the second link of my signature if it is new to you. Let us know if it works.
Delete all the voodoo files from your sdcard then I would personally use one of bhundven's one-clicks http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498 to go back to stock and then one the one-click for Antonx's kernel. works for me when I want to go back to bml

Thanks for the quick replies guys! Will report back in a little
Also, try taking out your sdcard and boot the phone. Plug it into the computer and clean out some space while you're at it.

LOL FB...its just a messed up partition....I went thru this same problem coming off one of Erik's miui roms not to long ago

Tried that when all this mess started but nothing. My memory card is pretty bare, except for about 2 gigs worth of music, some videos, and the roms which i used. In the heat of the moment i formatted the SD card without backing up -.-

Hi, I just got my phone a couple weeks ago, found this site and have been reading through the threads as much as possible. After reading through the step by step guide created by FB (thread link below) I feel confident that this shouldn’t be too difficult. When you get to step 11 it says to flash the GB you put on your SD cards. Do you need to do anything before that? The reason I’m asking is most of the ROM’s included their own install procedure like Audiophile FTW says, factory reset, wipe cache, check mounts etc. I wasn’t sure if that still needs to be done?
Also, since I’m starting with a stock phone would it be a good idea to flash Bali for Froyo first to get CWM and do a back-up before I try this?
Thanks for any help that can be provided.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223765
Sorry I meant odin bali not flash.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
you should always wipe data and clear cache before flashing a rom. you will not need to odin bali prior to fb's procedure. after you flash gb files, you will automatically have cwm.
Thanks, so I don't need to worry about backing up stock phone before I got to gb?

To be honest, I made backups ever single time I flashed a ROM. And I only fully restored once or twice. Back up once you are in GB. That way you can restore data. Once you are on GB, you won't go back to Froyo...

Sounds good. Thanks again for your help.

Two More Questions
Sorry, I have two more questions if anyone can help.
1 - I want to flash icbinb KI3 1.3. It states if you have problems with converting to EXT4 the flash FB's busybox installer before icbinb ROM, however if I follow the guide I should do the below. If I follow the below instructions instead of flashing busybox installer before will i have any problems?
Go into the voodoo menu > enable lagfix and /system lagfix on
11) Flash the GB rom you put on your sd card
12) Flash the busybox_installer.zip
13) Reboot
2- Also, the above guide has you enable lagfix & /system lagix before you flash, but when you flash icbinb KI3 1.3 it says to flash ROM and then enable voodoo. Is it still OK to enable lagfix then flash?
I'm probably making this more complicated than it really is. Again, any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
Voodoo doesn't get enabled until you hit reboot. The order in which you enable voodoo (before or after flashing a rom) doesn't matter, as long as you do the flashing AND the voodoo enabling before you reboot.
Thanks...That makes perfect sense. As I said I think I was making it more complicated than it was. Also, Thanks for making the guide!
Finally had the time to do this. It was really easy and had no problems at all. I'm just in the process of calibrating my battery and working on restoring my apps. Having a couple problems with some apps not wanting to restore via TB, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Anyone that wants to jump to GB just follow FB's guide and you should have no problems.
I've had absolutely no luck upgrading from KD1 to offiical GB.
I started off with the official KD1 (from Kies) that I have been running for months.
The only mods are root and CWM.Kies downloads the GB update (taking several minutes) then immediately comes up with the screen saying my phone could not be updated. It leaves the phone in download mode.
If I reboot I'm back to where I was.
Taking a suggestion in another thread, I cleared data and cache, and tried again.
Same result.
Taking another suggestion, I Odin'd another KD1 on top of my original. Same result.
Taking another suggestion, I Odin'd a KC1 on top hoping that Kies would upgrade me to official KD1 or GB. However, Kies took one look and said there was no upgrade.
I've Odin'd back to KD1, so after a lot of work I'm back to where I started.
Any ideas?

First you would need gingerbread bootloaders if you have them then flash away, if not you will need to odin kg4 for the bootloaders then drhonks kernel for root then flash kj6 from cwm.

I probably will, but I also would like to find out why I can't Kies the stock GB Rom. Obviously Kies doesn't like something it sees on the phone.
There is another issue I'm fighting at the same time. Until now I didn't have a data plan and just used wifi for data. I just got a data plan and haven't been able to get the phone to use it (just voice/text). I want to put the phone into a completely stock condition to try and eliminate variables, and possibly get T-mobile to help. I also feel that what ever Kies doesn't like might be a factor with the cell data issue.
Kies is potentially bad news for your phone if you've been on a custom ROM. If it doesn't work smoothly on the first try don't try and force it. What inevitably happens is that in a sudden rush to get it to work you start flashing one ROM after another (something you wouldn't normally do) and end up issues. There have been a bunch of posts about losing recovery and download modes as people start trying to flash back to froyo from GB. A buddy of mine just jacked his phone up so bad doing this...no recovery, no download, couldn't get it to adb boot on his Linux box. I finally got it into download mode with an adb/odin circus trick, hail Mary, and odined ravers hawk.zip to clean everything up. There is no way i want to go through that again, and there is no real logic in the way we fixed it, but it all started with a bad flash from kies. To any one reading this, USE THE CWM FLASHABLE THAT RAVER MADE IN THE DEV FORUM, take advantage of their knowledge and hard work and save yourself (and your sgs4g) some heartache.

I would use ODIN to reinstall Dr Honks KJ1. it will give you CWM and You should be OK. It might have just been a fluke on install the first time
Still no wifi "f.m.l"!!!
Everything works accept wifi reinstalled kj1 kernel frs, wiped down phone completley even used odin again to reinstall 2.3.6 official from ravers post and nothing ive done everything 2 or 3 times the sameway even tried different usb slot i used odin 1.85 i just dont get it anyone else got this problem
As ignorant as this sounds, I had the same problem once. I rebooted my wireless router & it started working again.

Rooted and installed humble 5.0 a month or two ago and its been good but lately lots of freezing pulling batteries and the battery is dying fast so just wondering if anyone recommends anything else? I am thinking its not really humble but maybe something i installed so i plan on wiping everything back to normal but hey its a good time to try something else too
Danalo's Rooted ep4d is solid.
thats humble isnt it
It's not really Humble, just a slightly tweaked version of the factory EP4D release.
You can also try the InfinityROM and TweakStock versions of EP4D.
I just installed TweakStock on my wife's phone and it's pretty nice.
I'm not crazy about the clock tweak, but my wife could care less.
FYI: I've been running Humble 5.0 for about as long as you have, and I haven't had any issues with lock ups, or the battery.
Yeah I may just restore humble can i just do wipe data or do i need to reflash it

I'd download the CWR version of 5.0, wipe data and cache, then just install the CWR version from your SD card. Easier than using Odin. If you don't have Titanium Backup Pro, it's worth the money. Makes reinstalling your apps (including any launchers you might use) a snap.
This ROM with this THEME is a great combo..new and fresh
I actually just spoke with verizon and there is an issue with the phone itself so they are going to replace it. is there a way to restore to stock yet?

Yes, in the dev section are stock odins. Wipe the data from your sdcard so they don't see root related apps.

You SD card will have whatever extra stuff you had on it whether you flash a factory ROM or not. Some of the folders on the SD card are system folders which most of the content will be replaced with the factory Odin. If you want your phone to be completely stock, wipe your SD card and then Odin the stock ROM.
You can also delete the information from the SD card manually. Folders like "Voodoo" and "clockworkmod" are a dead giveaway that the phone was rooted.
As long as the phone can read the SD card, then its fine to go ahead and either wipe or format the SD card before Odining the factory image. Or just delete the obvious stuff manually, or whatever...

Seconded on TweakStock. It's the most stable rom I have ever used (as in not one issue whatsoever while still lightning fast with excellent battery life). I flashed the one with the experimental kernel so I don't know how it works with anyone else's, though.
I'm not a fan of the clock placement either, but dwitherell posted a flashable fix that I was going to try out sometime.
what stock rom should I use i see a few I would guess bloated but one says if your on epdm4 you wil have issues etc

If true stock is what you want... Odin the stock froyo rom, let it ota update to the latest gingerbread, odin cwr and flash superuser through cwr. Than use titanium to freeze whatever you don't want.
Charge, stock-rooted.. XDA Premium
i want just straight stock no root or anything. if i go froyo is it gonna matter what radio or kernel I have now?
Infinity ROM is a good one- also I found that the TweatStock is great on battery life and you can use the ICS themes.
Really? Just flash on top of it? Seems like there would be conflicts.

When you odin the froyo rom it will put stock radio and kernel on it. Let it update to the new gingerbread. If you are coming from a lagfix kernel make sure you disable lagfix. When you odin the froyo rom I would recommend odin the pit file also to make sure your partitions are accurate.

Did you try any other ROMs and noticed similar behavior?
If you use Google voice it will cause that. Make sure when you first reinstall a rom don't add any apps... run it and see if its laggy. If not install your apps you always use one at a time... if after installing one Ans you notice lag you got your culprit. GV used to do this to my aria

i would backup everyone on both of you sd cards to a computer.
(also back up any apps with titanium and text and such)
read this whole page

then flash stock gingerbread
factory reset your phone
then flash the kernal in the same thread
(format your external sd in your pc, then put it back in your phone and format it with your phone)
remember to back up things on the phone, then move them over to your pc before you start this process, because EVERYTHING on your phone will be wiped
then flash a rom again, from this clean of a state it should fix pretty much anything.

So here's the deal, I'm trying to restore my stock rooted 2.3.4 GB ROM. Eaglesblood is cool and all, but as of yesterday it started doing a bunch of sketchy stuff. I can't even connect to my t-mobile wireless network anymore. Just doesn't work. I also need wi-fi calling and video recording, so it's time for me to leave ICS (after a week or so lol). So I did a full wipe, formatted the system, cache and data. Went to backup/restore chose restore and chose the backup I made the very first day that I rooted my phone. It starts checking the MD5 sums....after about a minute I get an error saying "MD5 SUM MISMATCH." How do I fix this? I'm trapped in ICS and want back to GB please someone help free me. So after all of that I had no choice but to reflash eaglesblood and now I'm at where I started.
There's an option in cwm under advanced to toggle off md5 check, I think. That may work. But if the md5 is different than before it means something changed in your backup so it may not work.
If you're transferring stuff over usb a lot it gets messed up, I always have issues with that. I use airdroid to transfer files between pc and phone.
You gotta be kidding me......I transferred the back up to my PC to save room on my phone. I put it back into my phone yesterday because I knew I was probably going to use it today. So you're telling me there is no way for me to get back to my 2.3.4 stock rooted ROM because I transferred the file over a USB cable?
