Has anyone noticed the galaxy tab 2 7.0 stuttering a bit when going into and out of the app drawer?
Also I noticed that after I downloaded a bunch of other apps and browsed the Internet it seemed to slow down. After a restart everything was back to normal. Anyone else have similar issues?
try installing a custom rom (tablite). super smooth; very easy install. makes the tab worthwhile to own.
I expirienced the same inthe past and had to reboot. But later found out that if you go to the task manager and clear the RAM it goes back to being smooth.

Yeah,My Gtab seems like that before I flashed a custom rom and install NOVA launcher~~
Yeah do you recommend nova because I just installed apex.
Not at all. In fact, I am loving the tab 2. It is snappier than my transformer prime, believe it or not.

See that's exactly what I thought but then after a few hours of heavy downloading apps and what not). It began to slow down as if it had trouble with the icons refreshing. I found another thread and a bunch of people are reporting the same issue. I hope it's just a bug in touchwiz because the rest of the tab is super fast.

Yup, when I do significant changes (lots of new installs, widgets, etc), it is laggy until I reboot, but runs perfect after the reboot. I haven't fount it very difficult to reboot and then go refill my coffee while it settles down. When I'm back and ready to roll, so is the tab!

Every now and then my homescreens gets very sluggish and laggy, to make them turn I really need to be explicit and slow in gesturing. It seems to start at random, haven't found anything that appears to set it off.
Reebooting solves the problem, until next time of course. Getting quite annoyed with it at this point.
I have tried disabling live wallpaper and taking a look at what apparently are running, but it doesn't seems to be the problem.
It's a nexus s i9023 running 2.3.6 stock. Not rooted.
Hope there's a reply out there, thank you.

what possibly happened was you may have bunch of apps that autorun themselves when certain events occur such as when you regain network signal, receive a phone call, turn on screen, etc... over time these apps take up cpu which cause the lags you're experiencing. i would suggest rooting your phone and install Rom Toolbox or buy Autostarts app to stop some of these apps from autorunning.. The Nexus S is the easiest and most painless device to root.

I'm running almost the same apps as on my old Wildfire, and enver encountered the problem with it.
I'd prefer not to root my phone at this point. Bought just under a month ago, with the idea of running stock to see how the "pure android" experience was
I also find it hard to imagine that there isn't another way around the problem.
It just doesn't make sense to me that it takes so little to bog down the phone and that the solution is root
mine got very slow on 2.3.6 after not having done a wipe for 6-7 months. I didn't even have many apps installed. The phone runs a lot faster on ICS rooted or not.
Yeah, I've heard it should run better with ics and I'm quite tempted to just go for it with one of the many ROMs out there. Must admit I'm hoping for the official ota to arrive soon. I'd like to keep the phone unrooted so it'll recieve the official update. But if the wait proves too long I might just have to find a good ROM
Any advice for a stable no-fuzz ROM that won't cause me too many issues with stuff not working properly?
The issues with the lagging homescreens have been present in 2.3.3 as well. Was hoping 2.3.6 would fix it, but alas:-\

you can also just install advanced task killer (free on market) and kill some apps that are running and u might not need them.
Also you can try the Go lancher Ex (free on market - is a lancher that runs themes and schemes, from my experience this app make everything run smoother and faster).
Anyway like others said already custom ISC are really nice to use
cheers
Installed ADW launcher.EX and it appears to have solved the issues. Thanks for the input

There are, like, 20 threads about it. Many have tried it.
I tried it and it works great. Read any of the million other threads
Been running it all day. Not sure why there's multiple threads with people having issues. Mine is running tits. Got it rooted fine.
We should have a "demerit" system we can use, kinda like the "thanks" system.
Just for people who post the same topic that's already plastered all over the front page.
My phone was running smoothly and fast, until I installed go launcher and rebooted than it just froze on the att logo. Tried and tried and couldn't get out it so I just went back to a different rom....I guess so people had luck running smoothly.
There needs to be a section for newbs only so that the big boys can read without digging through piles of crap threads

I would blame that on Go Launcher personally. You're loading bloat on top of bloat. Apex is much better and cleaner.
I am using it and find it good and bad. Srill buggy but I'm some cases way faster and battery seems much better.

I am using ICS with GO launcher --- no problem.
It is a lot faster than before. And pretty stable for a leak. I had some issues with GOLauncher and the Alien ROM. None here.
I got rid of my prime for an Infinity and when i first got the infinity, it was flying. Fast, stable, wonderful...especially compared to the prime. After about 1.5 wks of daily use, ive been getting random lock ups and slow downs and have had to reboot or cold boot several times now. I have been very careful to not load too many apps or games and if i think an app or game is causing the problem then i immediately delete it.
I recall this happening to the Prime and am wondering if this is how its going to be with these ASUS tablets? They are so great at first then slow down and become laggy causing the user experience to sufffer greatly. Does anyone think JB is going to fix this problem?
Jelly Bean will make this tablet like BUDDDDER
I would wipe/factory reset
Start of fresh, JB is around the corner.
I keep reading posts about how poor the performance is with the TF700 and I keep wondering if I'm using the same tablet?!?!
Not sure if it's the Zeus ROM or what, but I don't have any performance issues to speak of!
For those having performance issues - maybe try the Zeus ROM and see if that helps (at least until JB comes out)...

We can only hope for the best!
I'm whipping up a list of generic complaints for when the Jellybeans are spilled.
I'm just like everyone else...scouring that play store for the one!
Been unloading a lot of stuff that I thought was groovy.
To me the tab seems the same or a bit better than it's first day in my clutches.
Finally settled on the ICS+ browser...the rest of them have features yet to me cause some frowning.
Heck I dunno...
mines started off smooth as well, then came a lot of freezes and force closings. I did a factory reset about a week ago, and its seems back to the way it originally was. Everything is fine now. I do hope JB comes soon though.

Well, I was going to say it seems to come and go with mine but I've gotten about 10 browser not responding messages trying to reply. It started off really good when I first go it but it has gotten progressively worse since then. One thing I notice is it seems to be the ads in web pages that kill the browser. I guess that flash is causing the problem? The android browsing experience leaves a lot to be desired.
I call it the Windows XP syndrome.
XP was zippity fast on a clean install, but add a few years into it of loading it with all kinds of applications, AV changes, system restores, repairs, etc.
and you get a XP that takes a good 2-3 minutes post startup to run, and it will slow down over heavy usage.
I also experience this with Firefox in Windows 7, that browser was a beast with all those add-ons and the only browser with a true Ad-blockers, but as Firefox approach version 13, it's become a slug and can't handle many tabs.
I have not noticed a slow down....yet. But I have disabled a lot of crap that seems to start on its own.
This device is now three weeks old or so and there is yet to find a glitch.
A little tweaking goes a long way.

The Zeus Rom also removes a lot of bloatware, as you said, don't underestimate how bogged down your system can become with all that stuff running in the background.
Hmmmm....
As one of the un-knowledgeable as far as development:
Would Android being Linux (I guess) be more subject to bugs and failures because it's RAM friendly and lighthearted.
In other words since Android seems less complex would its speed versus hardware cause cross links or file IO failures more readily?
I know Windows has driven me nutz for years...always wanted to try Linux yet never have.
What exactly will JellyBean do?
No problems here. Since last update mine is rock solid stable, and performance is quite good. Had chance to use heavily at a 3 day conference and it was great though battery is not as good as my tf101. Also had my first chance to spend some solid time with an ipad2(not new one) . Utterly worthless. It was soo limited and locked down. Performance was fine but not as good as my infinity. 4x3 sucks.
I'm wondering if those with issues have one or more bad apps installed, I know it's happened to me before. They run crap in background and are not optimized.
Lots of problems here as well. I had actually typed in great detail, all the issues I have come across and the damn browser force closed so I lost everything I typed. My tablets acting up really bad, so I'm gonna end it here. This tf700 is the prime with fixed wifi and a nicer screen... please let JB fix this or its going back to Amazon.... infinity tablet #2.... there won't be a #3 if JB isn't stellar!
So disappointed with Asus...

The Linux kernel isn't the problem. I would even say that Linux is more stable than Windows.
Jelly Bean has the target to make Android as smooth as iOS devices.

JB will make only the transitions smoother, other than that, i don't think we are going to see any performance boost or at least decrease in lags and hickups. This is due to HW to some extent (imho) and yes, the crappy apps.
I can tell you right away that after removing the live wallpaper that i used as workaround for cropped wallpapers in portrait mode, my tablet is now much faster on home screens that it was before. I also went and disabled some of the Asus apps. I know there are probably some other apps that are running in the BG and should be removed, too, but i simply need them, so no options here.
It also seems that factory reset is helping for some people, so maybe i'll give it a try, too, right before the JB update.
I am still on system that came from the factory.
Of course I don't think the tablet is crap, cause it is not, it is great, but it really needs some gentle hands sometimes to get it up to speed.
There is one thing that makes me VERY angry sometimes, so angry that maybe someday the tablet will fly into the wall....
I have enabled the screenshot function of the back button. Well, sometimes, when i want to just go back, "fracking back!", it creates a screenshot, which makes a tablet even more unresponsive. Frack!
I was also having a lot of trouble at first with my Infinity. Then I did a couple of things. One, i got rid of the dual battery widget that I used all the time on my Prime; two, I deleted or disabled every unnecessary app I could find. There are a number of good forum threads that can tell you what to disable. I also settled on Apex Pro Launcher which now seems very stable after deleting dual batter widget.
Mine slowed down after a couple weeks which was very frustrating because I really liked it when I traded my Prime for it. I have moved away from Asus altogether now good luck with jellybean hope it works out for you guys

Buh bye!
I guess i made a big ****ing mistake again, First i got the infinity then i returned it to get the note 10.1 . I was raving and writing positive reviews on that tablet as it is truly a fast tablet, no force close , stereo speaker is loud with good definition then last night i picked up my ipad3 and started browsing , after an hour i went back to my note 10.1 thats when the problem starts as i can now see the how bad 1280x800 resolution is compared to my ipad3 or infinity. So i went back and returned the note for the infinity and now...... after......... couple ....of ....days.........it was ****ing laggy and keeps on force closing browsing is started to became painfully slow , typing is not fun as i keeps on skipping letters as the touch screen is not that responsive. I want to go back to the note but i guess i dont have the guts anymore to returned it again...... Now i'm stuck.
I think the reason why the note is faster is because of its low resolution and why the infinity is slow is because the tegra 3 is not capable enough to handle full hd.........

Thats not the only reason, Prime was lower resolution and that device was slow too.
Loading your tablet up with craplets will slow it down.
It's pretty obvious that if it is performing like you want initially after a fresh factory reset, but then after loading it up with stuff it slows down, then it is most likely the stuff you added, not the box itself. It's just like a windows box basically, as someone else noted. Windows machines are a wreck after a while with all the little DLLs, services, drivers, etc that muck up an installation over time. I really have gotten to where I settle on just one or two go to apps in each category rather than install and leave multiple redundant apps on the machine.
I also avoid "freemium" games like the plague. Those things are like user installed malware. They leave stuff running on your machine all the time, pop notifiers, etc.
An occasional reboot or cold boot might be a healthy thing to do, too, since depending on your system config, Android may not be aggressive about reclaiming memory, etc, and you don't want it to hit eMMC as hard since it is slow on the TFs.
Hey guys,
First off. Please don't bite my head off.. if this is the wrong section, could a mod move this for me?
I've searched around the internet but haven't found anything. My stock aosp browser has been bugging out lately. What happens is if i load a heavy page (droid-life does this all the time) the loading goes up most of the way, pauses for a second, and i get booted off fhe browser. It just closes out to my home screen. Then if i open the browser again, its either the page i was just at, which will be fully loaded, or it starts over on google, which then proceeds to refresh over and over again on its own. Odd, it has never done this before. I tried different kernels, roms, factory resets, i wiped everything each time. And it still keeps doing this. I dont get it. It even happens on my friends epic 4g touch, so i dont think its just my device. I've been resorting to using chrome for now, which is somewhat wonky. I would love to remedy this issue. Can anyone help, and importanly, has this been going on with anyone else? Background: i have a rooted, unlocked d2vzw, running paranoid android (latest) and leankernel 1.10 experimental. Cpu is stock, gpu is oc'd.
Thanks in advance!
What gets me the most, is that a few days ago this would never happen! It just started happening for seemingly no reason!
Btw, the other roms i tried were: cm10 latest nightly, paranoid android (of course), liquidsmooth, latest, and king kang. My buddy is on cm10 build 2 on his epic 4g touch. I tried each with their stock kernels as well as leankernel.

I'm currently using chrome, which isnt bad, but its still buggy and isnt as slick as the aosp browser. I figure lots of folks will suggest different browsers. I would like to still be able to use the stock aosp browser, which is why i started this thread
Mine was doing it too. A simple wipe of the browser days fixed it.

Data wipe solves the google reloading over and over again, but when i open up droid life, its the same story: it loads up a droid life page once, the second droid life page (like a news story or something linked off the original page) reliably loads most of the way, pauses and then boots me out. Then if the page isnt still there when i go back to the browser then its google, refreshing over and over again. Visit the droid life page, let it load, then open up any of the news stories. Does your browser boot you?
Edit: it does this with droidforums too, and many other sites.
Yep it sure did not me at droid forum.... Strange

So it is happening with other folks as well? This is strange as this has never happened before. Its been happening to my buddy with an og razr as well
Its now happening to my buddy on his stock t989, stock tw browser. What the hell is going on? Did google change something in their servers or something? This is incredibly annoying and i simply cannot understand why this isnt a bigger issue. Chrome sucks. A lot.
I haven't touched a Samsung device since the galaxy s1 i9000 and have stuck to nexus phones since that time.
I thought I would give Samsung another blast this year and see if they have redeemed their selves over the years in regards to the amount of animation stutter and input lag since they claimed to have streamlined TW and have started using their own processors to make everything work in harmony etc.
The phone itself is really really great and I quite like it but I again am still getting animation stutter all over the place.
Scrolling in play store is horrible. The simple tasks of pressing between the tabs in the dialer is the worst out of them all them and really has terrible animation and most apps stutter like mad where my old nexus 5 was nice and smooth which I can only blame TW for. Even the keyboard goes nuts if you try to look through the emojis. There's no excuse for this in this day and age with what this phone is packing.
Is it just my device or is anyone else getting a lot of stutter etc on their device?
Is their anything that can be done to solve the issue other than swap the phone

5.1 kinda made this issue a lot worse! I set animation in dev option to 0.5x and it helps a little!
You can try a custom ROM. You often get a much better performance with it. Or try to root and uninstall bloatware. Hope this helps.

Please don't withhold all information. First link's method only works on S6 variants G92XF/T. It does not work on other variants and if attempted will cause a soft brick. For other variants of S6 on 5.1.1 there is no way to root or install custom kernels without tripping Knox.
On the subject of lag, proper usage of the phone and knowing how to free up RAM can reduce lag on your phone. Examples include clearing recent activities, using Smart Manager to "clean up" background activities and rebooting the phone every few days. With root you can use more efficient methods like Titanium Backup to freeze apps and Greenify to kill background processes. Don't just sit there complaining about lag this and lag that, go and read up on how to free up RAM on your phone and reduce lag on it.
