Camera lens scratched! :( - Samsung Galaxy R i9103

I noticed today that my camera lens has 2-3 scratches on it.
Image quality seems unaffected. Is there any way to remove these scratches?
Also, Can the lens be replaced at SSC? Does it come under warranty? If not, how much will it cost?

It does not come under warranty and 1-2 scratches are barely noticable for the pics taken...
I would advice you not getting the camera replaced as it isn't under warranty (physical damage) and getting it replaced will also void your warranty...

It won't be covered under warranty but don't know how much it'll cost.
If its causing any problems to the image quality then you'll have to replace it if it isn't then its your choice.
Keep us updated on the progress if you take it to the SSC.
Hope this helps

I tried taking a few pictures and they seem to be fine, so I'll hold off going to SSC, seeing as it's not under warranty.
Thanks for the replies.

Buddy, at the most you can try to clean it with a damp cloth and then wipe it with a clean dry one. Scratches are something that cannot be fixed in software. At XDA, u'll get all sorts of help if u have a software issue, but issues like lens scratching or screen cracking, can't be fixed without hardware replacement.

I tried holding the ring firmly and rotating it...just to confirm whether its removable or not and its clearly moving.
It just has 3 or 4 locks which is holding it in its place.
So, It might be possible to remove the ring using tweezers or something, and then you can replace the glass with another one after that...
Try asking any mobile repair shops, if you don't want to go to SSC.
I'd personally ask the SSC first before going to any repair shops...and if nothing helps, i'll do that myself

I know software cannot fix hardware defects what i meant was has anybody have their lens replaced and if so, from where did they obtain the spare parts? Thank You

so, bought a SGR used and didn't notice the lens cover was VERY scratched.... photos are crap, really...
I also read on gsmarena.com that the lens is "prone to scratches"...
So I guess the best solution is a mobile repair shop, as SCS would be way to expensive IMO

GODLIKE IDEA LOL
I want it
Awesome ! ! !
Brilliant. Simple and clever.
Need.
damn i would be right now if i patented my idea! haha i actually jokingly came up with this idea in a thread about some idiot wanting to weld on his own secondary camera.....
Thats awesome!!! I would have never thought of that. Its genius!
Clean, simple, to the point. I approve
Perhaps someone can make a DIY version and post details?
If it doesn't cost a lot I'll probably pick one up.
I can't wait to get my hands on one. I love how people are still pushing to keep the Nexus One up to date. This is a wonderful phone!

Yes, if they have the same direction...otherwise look what happen in the attatchment...Try by yourself with two mirrors. You avoid the problem if you put them in the same "orizontal" axis, not vertical.

Also, since its using our main camera... shouldnt the picture quality of the video feed be much better than most ffc setups since I have only seen those as vga?

What's the problem? I can't determine what's the issue from your cryptic rather post. Be specific as to what's wrong, maybe we could help then. Also, info man - we need it. What version are you running, any custom ROM installed, anything else you might have done it feel is pertinent to the issue?

Can some one try to install this app and update result. I tried this and I have same kind of result. Only real problem I see on phone is key 'P' isn't working on keyboard as that falls on right side. (using in landscape mode or autocorrection is work around for now). Is this means whole screen isn't going to bad soon?
got the exact same problem as you, if you happen to know how to fix it, please post... the right side of my phone is dead too... the same portion as yours

To move a dry screen protector, apply it using two 'handles' made of tape. Lift it and move it to your heart's content. Or use the hinge method.
I'm not saying the protector you got is any good, we might never know. But your review is kind of pointless. It's like painting a car with a paint roller because you're used to painting ceilings, then saying the paint sucks because your car looks like **** now.

But it really doesn't point out why you shouldn't buy it. We don't even know that it's crappy since your conclusion is based on improper use.

'You're doing it wrong' isn't very harsh. OP doesn't help the situation when he says 'I know I'm doing it wrong, that's why this thing sucks.' Definitely the wrong foot all around.

A very detailed post can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...cct=/showthread.php&__utmv=-&__utmk=235520898
I know, this process requires buying some tools to get the job done right, but take it from me, it is way safer to go this way than to try with just regular home tools. I spent over $300 trying to fix mine because of a mistake I made when trying to do it without the proper tools. Besides, it still winds up being cheaper than spending ~$110 to fix it with a whole new screen assembly!
