dear all
i have a big issue of network.i have a connection of t24 (which is of tata and NTT japan ) The problem is that in my galaxy fit it shows me no network or signals and sometimes signals come and go and i cant call sms etc >i have been trying it with all the rom's like creed c& too but it displays the same problem>i get the emergency calls only and if i put another sim in it it works perfectly. and if i put the sim in different mobile i get full tower and no problem in signals and calls or sms.today i met a Samsung guy who was in development area in Samsung he told me that all your settings r ok but there is some problem in your software so i cant use the t24 sim in my Samsung galaxy fit what should i do pl tell me and please tell me if i can revert to original ROM that came with this mobile will it work and from where i can get it i am feeling helpless here and i appreciate your work of bringing out new rom's than the official ones.i hearty congratulate all and my humble wishes to u all
Facing the same problem from 2days back.. I tried the original version also but I dnt know why I can't able to on my data mode even when the settings are correct...
How ever if u WAna try original version ... ofciurse u can revert back all u need is a computer with internet connection...
If u have PC and internet connection.. just go to YouTube and type there galaxy fit to Ginger bread... that's all check it u will get full tutorial there
Hmm, that's weird. My friend also had the same problem but it was fixed after some time. Anyway i think you should give it a try putting back the old stock firmware
Here Download your regional firmware from here
sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&t=1&o=1&m=GT-S5670&r=-1#modelsa
and flash it through ODIN
(sorry i can't post the direct link cause of the 10 post rule)
You could try installing a different baseband/modem, either stock or one that is known to work with your network.
finally found the solution...
my conclusion is... the problem is with 3g signal and 2g signal..
the phone is trying to swap the 3g and 2g signals in between thats why it is happened with you.. i suggest u to check the option use only 2g networks in the settings it will solve your problem.. it worked for me.. and it wil work for u too

c. Other band is not works for me.
( you can try and give your review)
6. For testing, just press the "run ping test" , if works, it should show pass, pass, pass...
If not works, just try the other band or scroll down, select "set the preferred network type" and choose the "GSM /CDMA AUTO"...

Yeap i've made the same question but no one answered...it seems that there is no option to choose between 2g and 3g.....only to choose use only 2g
I have a solution to the problem.
Go to Home-->Press menu button-->Add-->Widgets-->Power Control-->Check the button "2G/3G"(You may uncheck all other buttons,up to you)-->
Scroll down till you see "Choose Network Modes"-->Click the button right below it--> Click on "2G/3G Only/3G+2G"-->Move to top and click OK.
A new widget will now appear on the home. Here you can switch your network modes between 2G or 3G or 2G/3G.
I've searched and can't find a thread with stuff helpful to me. I would like a radio that will allow me to use 2G network. I live in rural Alaska and we have some crappy networks. I know it would probably work with factory settings, but I'd like to keep my phones custom rom Honeysense 6.2.2. I have been trying to make it work on the apn settings given to me by my provider but haven't succeeded. If someone out there has a solution please help.

You can use an app from the market to do it once you are rooted

Use Network. Towards the bottom, change the option to GSM Only.
1. "Sorry to ask but Radio help please" <-- Don't be sorry to ask. No one is going to flame u if ur efforts were genuine in searching first.
2. For ur question:
a. [User input] Go to wireless settings, and select 2G network
[System Action] This will turn off data, and re-enable it, but high chances (for me, its "always") still be on 3G/H
b. [User input] Go to network selection mode, and select manual
[System Action]This will present u with a list of networks to select (only one if u r on AT&T)
c. [User input] Select the network (AT&T if u r on AT&T)
This should now put the phone on 2G/EDGE network.
Warning: Since u r forcing this, there could be some patches (like when on certain areas when on road, etc) where u cud face loss of signal.

Using this app (this app is just a shortcut to the options in *#*#4636#*#*) many a times caused me a Phone process FC in an infinite loop (most recent one was y'day). The FC loop sometimes wasn't instantaneous, and started after ending a call and when the phone tried to get back to EDGE network.
Only way out was restoring from my previous nandroid backup. So I would be cautions.
I recently installed the JellyBean ROM for my A2 and changed few settings in the power manager after which I am unable to get 4G connectivity. I always see Edge in the status bar. I've tried re-trace my steps in the power manager but havent been able to turn on 4G yet.
Any guidance on how I could get my 4G back ?
----- UPDATE ----
I had to flash the same ROM again onto my phone and now its functioning properly. Still don't know the root cause but will report again if I see it happen again.
Thanks

Which JellyBean ROM? Please remember to be very specific as to the conditions surrounding the problem you're having!
I'd first try to go into Settings/ Below Data Usage tap 'More...'/ Mobile Networks
and make sure that 'Use only 2G networks' isn't checked.
Also, which carrier are you on? (I know most are on AT&T, but I'm on Straight Talk so I ask)

Thanks for your reply. I'm on the "MagicMod-Jellybean-Experimental" Atrix ROM on ATT.
The "Always use 2G" is unchecked which means that it should use 4G when available. Which bought me to the next section where I could search for network providers. When I searched for networks, most of the times my phone fails to find ATT in the list of available networks. I do have 4 bars on my phone though. I dont see the network provider name in the status bar so I dont know where it is connected currently.
My current hypothesis is that my phone is unable to connect/register to the ATT network and so I dont get 4G speeds.
Does that make sense?

Yep. I'm aware that a H is 4G. I see an 'E' next to the signal bar. I did have an 'H' right after I installed my ROM but since today I'm only seeing 'E' .
I'll try flashing the CM10 ROM and check if that fixes my issue. If not, I'll copy over an apns-config.xml from an ICS install and replace my current one with that just in case.
try changing network mode by an awesome app called "Network" by phillip

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that. Looks like a reflash (of the same ROM) solved the problem for me though. Its back to 'H' for me. I still haven't tried to flash CM10.
Thanks for your help guys.
Hello,
I have a Moto G with Android 4.3 and i want to change the network type preferred, but i didnt found this option, i always used the command *#*#4636#*#* and change to "WCDMA Only" in my old phone (Samsung galaxy y duos, Android 2.3.6).
My data acess always oscillates between 2g and 3g, there is other way to force connection only at 3g ?
Thank you guys
I also wanna know that

"WCDMA Only" should force it to be 3g only. That's on every phone I've had, and it works.

I tried. I downloaded but I don't know where to go in this app. I can't find the options or the menu to change to wcdma only. Can you please do a dummy tutorial for me?

Oh, when you open the app, it's supposed to take you to the menu that you were taking about.
Look and I'm the general or q&a thread, there is another topic about this. Some people are saying theirs are locked from this menu unless they do something else. If I find a link, I'll send it over

Seriously!?
Have you tried to see each option of the app?
I'm gonna try to help you: open the app, there's a menu. The first option should be "Phone Information", tap that.
So you have a lot of information about the radio, your chip, phone number, your provider, cellphone network and more...
Look for the option like "Set prefered network type" (or something like that. I'm trying to imagine how it's written in English, once here I use it in portuguese).
That option is a combobox with a lot of other options to choose. Always use:
"GSM only" (forces to use 2G, saves battery, you can also use that from Android Config Menu)
"WCDMA only" (forces to use 3G, speed up connection, but drains battery)
And "WCDMA prefered" (the phone always try to connect to 3G, but when it's not possible, it gets 2G).
The default option should be "GSM auto (PRL)". Similar to WCDMA prefered, but read this the see difference:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6591742&postcount=2
Be very careful with the other options. CDMA is very different from WCDMA.
CDMA is a different 2G modulation and it's not compatible with GSM neither Moto G.
EvDO is used only in some countries and providers, google to learn about it.
And LTE is 4G connection. I don't know if Moto G radio support that.
Remember: try it in you own risk! I'm not responsable for any connection problems you get. And try not to change nor tap any other option in that menu.
I'm using this app here with any trouble.
Ok, I see this menu, I select my network preferred type but nothing happens...
Am I supposed to do something after select the network type I want?
I mean, the Phone is still changing to 2g...
I'm so frustrated with not being able to force wcdma =/
Problem solved.
Download and install Phone testing from play store.
Thank you guys =]

I am on the same boat. The change I made in (*#*#4636#*#*) - WCDMA prefered - won't save. After each reboot/restart it goes back to GSM PRL.
My G isn't rooted or modified in any way, out of box state with few 3rd party apps.
Maybe is related to APN?
Network mode
HI Friends,
I like to use network preferred mode AUTO (3g/2g),
but from mobile network -> network mode there are only
two option that we can select either "2G" or "3G".
Some days back at first time when I opend this menu
neither of "2G" or "3G" was selected so It was working fine
with by defualt in auto mode.
But once I have selected this option now It is not possible to unselect both
2G as well as 3G and put phone back to auto network select mode.
Can anybody has work around for this.
I tried "Network" app as suggested but not useful for me.

In Settings > Apps you can reset app preferences which deselects 2g and 3g, but not sure it makes any difference. You lose any preferences you set for apps...

Hello all.
I bought a Galaxy Core from the Middle East(2 Sim cards) and tried to use it in America through Strait Talk. The phone is working fine and the only problem I have that I can not get 3G just E (EDGE) which is so slow. I put my Sim Card in a Galaxy S III to make sure that the Carrier provides 3G. As soon as I put the Sim Card in Galaxy S III, I immediately got H +. But when I put it back in my Galaxy Core I got E.
My area covers 3G
APN setting is according to Straight Talk instructions
Any idea why ?
I would highly appreciate your answer and help!!
Check network mode - maybe it is set to use only 2G. You can find it under Settings -> More settings -> Mobile Data

Mode is already set to GSM/WCDMA (Auto Mode). I can use this option and GSM Only option. I can not use WCDMA Only option. If I chose WCDMA Only, I will loose the the whole mobile service. Thanks a lot for your help and time.

Look You can't use 3G on both SIM at the same time. So choose WCDMA only on the SIM you want to use 3G and use WCDMA/GSM on other SIM and this might not be allowing you to choose "WCDMA only" so better check 2nd SIM connection type.
and yup it is common that network disconnects while change the mode of connection. It will be stable after your option is set.

I too have an issue with my Samsung Galaxy Core prime sm-g360t, my 3g is not working n I've tried LTE/Wcdma/gsm, buh it's still not working
actually ..our galaxy core now became as trash ...even i faced the same problem but there was no fix except an workaround ...the thing is lots of companies has put many features in their "new" SIMs and galaxy core is unable to process those(hardware problem) but if you use an old sim like 2-3 yrs old it will work for you ...after many many googling i had nothing in my hands but solved it by using my old sim ....just take someone's which is old and see if it helps ....
