"Stay Awake" while Charging - Motorola Atrix 2

I know I've asked this Q before but can't find the answer and its driving me mad. Google searches turn up the obvious "go into settings>applications>development >screen will never sleep while charging" - The problem is my screen DOES sleep while charging. I had it working for a while but have recently returned to bone stock through a fxz and the screen will NOT stay on while plugged into any type of charge ie; wall wort, computer, car charger etc. Its really a nuisance because I like to have the screen on while driving for easy access to my music widget. Any ideas?

Stupid question, perhaps, but do you have your screen timeout set to anything other than "never"?

Yes I do. Is that the only way "stay awake" is supposed to work? Seems a bit redundant. I know for whatever reason the phone was behaving differently before I wiped it. I've always set it for a 2 minute time out but if it was plugged in it would stay awake.

Not sure, I always set to "never" timeout because I like the option to put the phone to sleep via power button and at my discretion... still won't stay awake with the timeout settings while charging?

I wiped car dock data, rebooted several times, tried plugging in then ticking off the box, unplugging the ticking off the box... no screen time out, etc. Its not working like it should. I know I had this problem months ago and can't remember what remedied it. Lots of ROMs and tweaks in-between then and now. But bone stock it never worked out of the box if I remember and its not working now that I'm back to stock. Weird. I'm thinking of giving "better battery stats" app a try. This has to have something to do with wakelocks. Any other ideas?

Try Better Battery Stats (I've used that app) or try Watchdog Task Manager to check for wake locks.

[Light bulb goes ON over head] Here's an idea. Maybe there is no official "display" stays on while charging. Maybe the developer setting is to keep the screen/CPU running even with the display off. I've done as you do and set the "display" to never time out. Also I've ticked the box to have the "screen" stay on while charging. It might be my imagination but the display appears to jump to life when turning it on via the power button now while on the charger. There is no delay whatsoever. Does that make sense? Either way, I'm gonna run it like this for a while and test that idea. I usually use the power button to turn off the display anyway instead of letting it time out. I just always liked that auto-off in case i forget to turn it off before pocketing it. Thoughts?

Let me experiment on my phone and see if I see the same things you are. I'll let you know what I find out...

The ONLY way to do what you want is to either do as you did and do a "never" time out, or to go to:
Settings --> Application settings --> Development, then check the Stay awake option.
YOU MUST BE PLUGGED INTO A CHARGER FOR THE ABOVE SETTING TO WORK!!!
I will be 100% honest here, and that I have the HD dock sitting on my desk and when I connect it to the charger on the doc, it NEVER turns the screen off, and I do not have the Stay awake checked in the development menu. I also have my timeout set to 1 min.

Then theres that whole "in pocket detection" thing going on lol. I finally have that working with the current settings. Woohoo! So that means no worry that the display stays on if I somehow forget to use the power button to switch it off. I'm just fine tuning all the features of stock GB and now along comes ICS. Ha-ha.

Achieving perfect powder management always seems a bit elusive for me be it mobile devices, laptops or even some desktops. Then, just when I have it fixed some newly installed app will come along and knock it all off its precarious axis. Here's hoping ICS has better management.

I get 48 hours on a charge with HEAVY use, and tethering since I am at client sites alot, and that means usually no internet for me, unless I wifi tether.
I can go 36 hours and be at 25%, and at 44 hours I am at about 10%. I charge my phone every night if I can, but when I cant, I can squeeze 46-50 hours out, with out changing a thing. I don't play games, nor do I allow adds, have all adds blocked on my phone with a hack to the /etc/hosts file. The ads block is in most of the custom roms in the dev section too.
I am bone stock with root right now, while I work on a few things, so that might change things a little.
right now I am at 18 hours and 40 min. on battery and I am at 85%

Yes automatic brightness, 1 min. screen timeout, my battery is in performance mode.
I am also not overclocked. I have ALL of e-mail checks, and calendar syncs always on and they check about every 5 min, even when on 3g/4g.
Now I will say that if you are in an area that switched between 3g and 4g a lot, that will KILL you battery fast. There is a customer that I go to often and when I am at their building my phone switches between 3g and 4g when I move from office to office, and go to the restroom, and my battery barely lasts all day.

same if you are somewhere with a poor wifi signal that keeps witching on and off

Here in the Florida Boonies we go from 4G to Edge and back over and over again all day...but still, I use my phone moderately heavily, am overclocked to 1200, with everything syncing over whatever data is available and with wifi turned on all day, and I usually only go down around 40% over an 8-9 hour period. Compared to my last phone (Samsung Focus, which had decent battery life elsewhere) that's amazing. I literally had to plug that one in at my desk to make it to lunch down here.
As a matter of fact, while I've been typing this message, I've gone from 4G to Edge, and now it's back on 4G. Crazy system down here.
I've mentioned before that I run a hotel...well the other day, we had an AT&T engineer check in, and I asked her about it. She pulled out her Blackberry and said "I have 5 bars. Get a Blackberry." She wasn't thrilled when I told her that my backup is a Bold 9700, and I have the same problems on it. She said she'd look into it, though, so maybe there's hope.

Seeing how this thread has kinda evolved into a battery/connection topic; do you guys enable background data? I do and I get about 10-12 hours of hard use. I'm listening to music, on these boards, browsing the web, making a few calls, texting etc.
Sent from my MB865 using Tapatalk 2

Oh yeah. I literally live where I work, so I have all of my data turned on...I'm never far from a charger. Like I said, I get through the entire day without charging. I call, text, and email constantly. I use it as a music player in my office. It takes voice memos. I take pictures constantly. I'm always reading boards or books in my downtime, etc. Pretty much everything I used to lug a laptop for, I use my phone for now.
I need a tablet. Waiting to hear about the specs for the Asus tablet that's rumored to be one of the upcoming Nexus devices, or their MeMo, assuming that they're different devices at all.

I reported this to moto a long time ago the select is not doing anything when you check the box.
I fixed mine by installing power widget and doing the toggle to stay awake with it then uninstalling it.
Worked like a champ

wifi disconnects when sleeping?

So, it seems like the xoom wifi model looses its wifi connection after the screen is off for a few minutes; is there a setting that I can change to keep the wifi active all the time, or, is it a function of the built in battery savings modes?
thanks!
weird... I have not encountered this issue.... my xoom is binging all the time when sleeping notifiying me of emails and such.
is it a wifi only model, or a 3g/wifi?
thanks
I have a wifi only version and no problems with wifi
ok, I guess I need to hear from more wifi owners to know if mine has a problem, or its my router..Although I have a brand new cisco/linksys e4200, so it shouldnt be the router..
I have the wifi only model.
I just looked at the settings... go into the wifi settings click the disconnect policy, and make sure "never" is clicked.
thanks, that was the first thing I did..
i also downloaded Spare Parts from the market to see if that would help, but so far it doesnt seem to help at all..
wonder if I have a bad unit..
May I ask why you would never want it to disconnect when screen is off? You will get more battery not using data when data is not needed... I had to go in and do the opposite because I noticed my xoom was draining more than normal when screen is off. Went down five percent in 1 hour which is not good once changing it; it didnt budge when screen is off. just my two cents..

Well if u want data for updates and oush notifications you'll need wifi on. Mines on all the time even when screens off and my battery life is amazing.
If you're having lots of battery drain u might wanna check your "awake" time in battery usage and make sure you don't have a rogue app or widget keeping the Xoom awake while the screen is off. The CNN widget was doing this for me.

Understood. Yea for some reason my awake time is matching my battery use time 100 percent however there is nothing that I can find causing it. Doesnt seem to be draining my battery at all however. I dont have a weather app or cnn app and my running services are just the google framework and core apps / maps ,goog voice. oh well.
It's called WIFI Sleep Policy. Set it to "never."

my thoughts exactly..
battery usage is amazing for me, even with all the widgets I have running on it, which are at least 10 or so..
Easily getting over 12 hours of battery life, which is good, since you cant plug the damn thing in while its standing up..
The engineer who placed the power hole on the bottom should be shot...

Heads up: Juice defender has issues with Droid Charge

With Juice Defender, I was having issues when in fringe 4g areas where I would get no data at all on wake (neither 3g nor 4g). Enable and renable data would work some of the time, but about half of the time required a reboot. Juice defender seems good in concept, but I think it is conflicting with the way the phone switches between 3g and 4g. When am in a strong 4g area, it works flawlessly.
Since disabling it, I have had no issues. My phone now just downshifts into 3g when the 4g gets spotty.
FYI, I am on a EE4 radio with GummyCharged 1.5 ROM
I noticed this too, disabling rarely worked for me had to uninstall. I really liked JD for my droid 1 hopefully they can update it for better performance on the charge
Sent from my Charge
Has anyone tried their public market beta or private beta versions to see if they've fixed it?
You can do pretty much everything JuiceDefender does by using Tasker instead. Tasker has been working well on my Charge.
same goes for the Green Power program that turns wifi and data on and off automatically....I was having trouble with the data part. Not sure why but when the data was supposed to come back on it wouldnt and I couldnt do anything that required the data..also required a reboot to get data working again..luckily you can have it not turn the data off to save power which is how I am running it now.

I've been sending emails back & forth to the Green Power developer about this very issue. Waiting on a final reply. He usually responds nightly. . . . I also tried the private beta for JD, still not re-enabling data when screen is turned back on. I posted the problem in the prvate beta forum for the developers. No response yet.
my green power program just had an update...states fixed data on when screen comes back on so maybe its fixed..anyone test this yet? I wonder if Juice Def is fixing it as well?
Seems to be not working just like before...not 100% sure..anyone else?
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App
Might be a tough one for them. I think this has more to do with LTE than with anything the program is doing. I don't think it likes being turned off and on that quickly and often, as apparently there is a lot of syncing that has to happen when you turn it on or off.
I have my phone forced into 3G at all times since I dont live in a 4G area yet
I found this out in the first few days I had it, I had a ton of synching and switching problems that went away when I got rid of it. I don't really see what the point of running it without the data option, isn't that really all it does to save power?
I've found its really easy to just turn data on or off as needed in the little pull-down button in the notification bar, I have no synching issues and data comes right up no matter how quickly I turn it on or off...
I first installed the app to help my wife who has a charge as well...she cant seem to remember to turn the wifi and data off, so I tried it as a solution. Green power runs fairly good and doesnt hog the system resources or battery to turn wifi on and off automatically for my wife. So, for her it is helping greatly. For me not so much since I am always checking and rechecking everything often(OCD).

Two months later and it still doesn't work. There has to be something wrong with the way the device syncs with the Verizon network since every battery saving program has issues reconnecting with the mobile network after it has been turned off for a certain amount of time. I'm dumping my Droid Charge when the Bionic comes out if this issue isn't fixed. Without the battery saving apps, I only get 7 hours of life out of my phone.

I calibrated it very recently. I'm a fairly heavy user 75+ emails, screen on at least 1:15 min per battery cycle, regular use of the 4g network. The phone gets at least double the battery life with Juice Defender and similar programs... now if only those programs could properly control the network all day.
Has anyone tried this with the new EP1Q modem firmwares?
I have been rather shocked at how poor the battery life is in my Charge.
I came from a Liberty ROMed DroidX that easily made it through a day at work running all the exact same apps I am running on my Charge. I have three extra batteries for the Charge (& two external chargers) but it's a good thing as I have had days where I briefly got into the 3rd battery.
I am running Gummy 1.9.1, EP1Q modem, my screen is set to 20% & I have it locked on 3G (unless I want to DL something). I have done the bump charge & batt calibration a few times. When it is idling with the screen off, it hardly uses any battery but the minute I use it for anything online I can literally watch the battery drop......
It really cracks me up when I see people posting that their battery lasts for 28 hours (yea right)

I've had mine last that at least that long with light usage. And this is with 4G and GPS always on, and screen brightness set on auto. Just because you haven't experienced it, doesn't make it impossible.
I get about 24hrs when I am in a strong signal area (i.e. at home on weekends). With the week signal I get at work, forget it. It drops to 12-16 hrs.
Try to root out any rogue apps. I found Yahoo's mail app was killing my battery 50% faster.

Juice Defender works with the Gingerbread leaks, but not with the Froyo builds. It isn't the radios. I've tried it with Froyo ROMs running GB radios and it still had all the same issues. Not sure what the change is, but if you want to run Juice Defender, you need to be on a GB build.

Just an observation, but the graph at the top under where it says 1 day 19 hours clearly shows your battery going up 3 times. Which I was just going to pass up but I have a bunch of shots of my battery stats and none of them go up.

So if I'm not mistaken you plugged in a couple times.
I seen that as well but I honestly have no idea why. I can assure you it has not been plugged in. I even have a prior screen shot on another battery run that has the same issue.

Battery Management
Hi, all.
I want to pass this tip along to anyone who want or need to conserve their battery for what ever reasons.
I have gone usually 3 day+ on one charge.
I'm running on stock rom. Froyo 2.2.1
It is rooted though
I use the phone moderately. Text occasionally.
I downloaded an app called "DataSwitch" by TomatoX.
I use wifi when I'm at home or work.
I have dataswitch activated when I don't need constant background data. ?I turn it on when I need to use it for surfing and such.
In Settings, there is also a toggle for background on/off, although I don't use this much.
With the data off, you can still get phone call and text msg.
I usually turn off data and wifi at bedtime.
On the third day, I'm usually down to 35%.
This may also be useful if you are low and can't get to a charge right away.
It may not apply to everybody, but it works for me..esp with only a 200mb data plan. Battery life is great!
lol look at that cell standby use your phone lol

Good one. But next time on, it would be more useful if you post the screenshots showing call duration and display time. With just this one screenshot it could have display on for just 5 mins or 50 mins. Its hard to tell.
Just now noticed, the tiny green bars in the screenshot (circled in red) come up when the phone is charging.
I noticed that (at least for my phone) if you connect it to wall charging it would reset the "time on battery" count but if i connected it via usb to pc it was charging, yeah slowly maybe but the timer never reset when connected via usb as if the phone said "well im charging but it doesnt counts since the guy its transfering data"(lmao yeah my phone is smart) so if you wait for 10% battery ans then go usb mode and charge it and use it and repeat i once got displaying 4 days 10 hours on battery haha.
While on my real stats my phone never last more than 18 hours ;/

I got my phone to say 2 days 15 hours once. As long as I don't charge it 100% the time on my battery continues to go up. I can plug it in while it has 10% left charge it till its 90% unplug it, and the time won't reset.
If anyone mistook my comment, I'm not really interested in claiming any specific record as the op as stated.
I simply meant to share my thoughts on "dataswitch" app and how I had applied it.
I think found it useful to limit data usage and to conserve the battery when I can't get a charge right away.
You'll be surprise how much battery life background data consumes.
The other part tech part of me also recognizes that battery memory exist...it may be best to "widen" your charge range (0% to 100%) when possible.
Well, I figured out what caused that.. My radio in my truck has a USB port that I plug my phone into to listen to my music. Worked great on my Ipod but it wouldn't charge my Ipod. However today when coming home, I plugged my phone in and it doesnt show to be charging, but when I looked at the Battery Use chart, it deffinately showed an increase.
And here I was thinking I was getting impecable battery life lol.

Do I have a bad battery? I sometimes charge my phone twice a day!

Let me start off by saying that I'm aware that the ROM you run can effect your battery and I know I'm on a CM10 build right now but believe me when I say that I have flashed synergy, nosympathy, beans, liquid, and even a stripped stock, none of them were significantly better some were even worse.
I had my phone charging and it was at 100% when I went for a jog, an hour and a half later the battery was at 82% with about 15 mins of on screen time, came back and used it a little more and got it up to 27 minutes of on screen time and 68%
I've seen screenshots and posts of people saying that they go all day or even 2 days without a charge and can easily get 4+ hours of on screen time while the most i have ever gotten on any rom was 2.5
Just a heads up, i have no third party apps installed other than pandora and google play music auto brightness turned off at about 1/3 max no accounts sync other than my 1 google account. Not sure if it helps or not but I've noticed that I can go the entire night unplugged and will only use about 5-7% battery, It's once I turn the screen on that I start seeing the battery drop over a percent every minute.

You have a lot of time where the phone isn't able to sleep, streaming music keeps it awake even with the screen off.
Sometimes its the network. Searching for signal...
i use pro-amp to listen to music on the train on my way in to work. I usually use up that much and sometimes more just listening to music. IF you are streaming music, that could be the issue. I know it is why my battery isn't as good as others.

Yeah, make sure you have 4g if not turn it off with the phone info app. Check to make sure you have roaming turned of too

Download juice defender from the play store its help my battery life quite a bit. What it does is turn off data while your screen is off and back on when you unlock it.

Thanks for the help guys i'll try this out and see how it works, maybe its just a placebo but I flashed the new CM10 8/15 build with no Kenex on the unlocked bootloader and it seems to be helping alot!

I would definitely NOT recommend doing that.
Some posters have permanantly lost their 4G connection by doing this when their phone refused to ever go back into 4G again.

"Hypermiler" (Battery Life) Tips

This is a little bit of a boast, I guess you could say... but also educational in a way.
This is my most recent battery life. I found that when I posted my screenshots, people think they are faked in some way. (Posted it here and other GS3 forums) They are not. I am using the stock battery my phone came with. NOT an extended battery. And you can see from the battery graph that the phone was not charged. I guess this is to show that you can use your phone heavily, and still get amazing battery life.
I am using the stock jellybean leak. Not rooted or unlocked.
This is everything I have done to get good battery life.
-I turned the LED touch lights off (I don't like them, they're so bright)
-I have all vibrations off. My phone does not ever vibrate.
-I have power save on.
-I have S-Voice "wake command" off.
-I have motion control disabled.
-I am almost always on wifi (work & home)
-When I am on wifi, I turn mobile data off.
-When I am going to bed, I put my phone in airplane mode.
-I rely heavily on the task manager, I clear my open windows and under the "RAM" tab I clear memory. Probably once an hour.
-I have my sync OFF. I check my email manually.
-Auto brightness.
-I never partially charge. I let my battery go all the way down to 1% then I charge it to 100%. Always.
-Always have a dark background, if possible.
Thats everything. Mind you, I didn't make or receive any phone calls on this cycle. But I did use my phone, as you can see I didn't just let it sit around. Device idle was like 3%?
Anyone else a "hypermiler" like me? I don't get this much screen time every time, it ranges from 5-7. I've gotten more than this and I've gotten less.
Hope this can help even if it's only a little.

-Clearing the ram too much actually drains the battery more because certain apps will have to auto start again every time you clear memory
-Keeping it at around 0-30% all the time should save you more.(I can still see my screen during the day at 30%)
-That doesn't do anything.

-Are there no A/C outlets in your bedroom?
-What the previous guy said, this is a stupid thing to do. Java was designed around efficient use of resources, and restarting running apps (which would happen, unless you have them removed entirely) would use more processing power than you had saved by not having the tasks running in the first place.
-Using Auto is causing the system to periodically poll the light sensor, draining more battery than used otherwise.
-This is how you kill Li-Ion batteries (one way, at least). The whole spiel about discharging fully, THEN charging fully or the battery will have some sort of "memory" of capacity less than actual capacity is how Ni-Cad rechargables work, not Li-Ions. Li-Ion batteries are the opposite. For superior life, keep them topped up as much as possible. FYI
I hope THIS helped, more than a little.
There are plenty of outlets in my room. Lol I just don't need to use them that often as you can see also I hate getting calls and messages in the middle of the night but I use my phone as an alarm sometimes so airplane mode just seems convenient.
This is just what I do. I mean, some of the things I do may not help at all. But this is what I do with Android phones and I've always gotten really good battery life. I've always, always gone down to 1% then charged up to 100% and I've never had a battery go bad on me. Then again I only ever keep a phone for 1 year. I do know that these batteries don't have the memory problem, I just can't bring myself to not fully discharge or charge. I have mild OCD, for real. Little things like that brother me
I'll play with backlighting to see what that does for me.
I've gotta be doing something right. Idk about the task manager, I've just always liked not having programs running if I don't need them to be. I know they arent "running" but it just gives me peace of mind, I guess.
Thanks for the recommendations I will try them.

You getting really good battery life =/= you getting the best battery life possible.
I have pushed ~2 days of battery life without charging many times on my GS3 (with all the bells and whistles running, just mobile data turned off when i'm not commuting), i just don't have a reliable measurement because:
1. I'm flashing mods/roms/kernels/whatever multiple times per week, and
2. I usually charge my phone when it's convenient, which is fairly often.

I stopped flashing because of my OCD. I mean, I'm not crazy but it causes perfection issues and all the ROMs I was flashing had glitches here and there and Idk if you've known anyone with OCD but with the perfection issue, those glitches were all I could think about. So there went flashing. Lol.
Also comes into play with the charging thing. You seem knowledgeable in what you said but even though you said keeping it topped up is best, in my mind, that's destroying my battery. Lol. I really do appreciate your info though.

I'm glad you said it, so that I didn't have to. :silly:
I read your post and the first thing that came to mind was, "there is medication for that, you know."
Here's my .02. My battery never lasts that long. Not even close. I'd feel disappointed if it did. I bought my gsiii with the intent of gobbling up unlimited data and using the oc'd processor to run apps till the phone is so hot I have to set it down. I've burned up almost 6gigs of data since the 7th. I get around 4 hours of screen on time most generally. I also throw it on a charger whenever I have the chance. My battery rarely dips below 50%. Like others have said, full discharge cycles are for ni-cad batteries. Li-ion doesn't benefit. Good battery life for me is the lg flip phone we have on a diff line that lasts a couple weeks.

Okay, okay, as long as you admit it... I'll stop being a snarky jerk. I'm totally the same way though. Perfectionist to the core.
It's a very bad idea to let the battery go down to 1% regularly, lithium batteries should be charged more often for better life and more cycles
Sorry but I still just don't believe 7 hours of screen on time. 4 is above average even amazing screen on time for this phone and stock battery. I suppose there is the possibility of using 0 percent brightness, or even lux brightness or something similar to get the brightness even lower.
You said you use auto brightness, I'm sorry I just don't buy it.
People with the extended batteries are getting 7 hours of screen on time not stock batteries.
7 hours of screen on time is literally double almost every other phone on the market with stock batteries. I really fail to see how having minimum usage and a high performing rom will get you double screen on time.
Edit: with that said, in my current situation I will never have wifi access plus I tether a lot so I really have yet to personally see screen on time since I rooted. Before root and stock I got about 3.5 of screen on time.
Not trying to be a douche or anything just very curious about how 7 hours comes about.

you dont get 7 hours because you are not doing what op did for perfection, and you just like other "4 hour" guys in this thread. I can confirm 7 hours usage is totally possible and what left can support one day idle time when you turn off data etc. Iusually dont do that because I like my phone work at full functionality, but I also like tinkering around to keep maximum use of juice, by eliminating wake locks and autostart.
killing background helps sometimes because some stupid apps keeping using cpu after backgrounded. op go and get a iphone, its perfect for OCD since it can get zero unwanted background activity, amazing idle time and stable usage with relatively easier configuration and tweaking.
1% is NO. 1 battery killer, heat is NO. 2, top up at 100% is NO. 3. Li based battery is at best 40%. but plaese its just a phone, charge and use anytime you want. phone outdated way earlier than battery.

While I understand what you're saying I think you misread my post. I was strickly referring to the screen on time which 7 hours of screen on time with stock battery is inconceivable. 4 is about the most you would normally see.
7 hours of USAGE is common.

Well I mean. You don't have to believe me. I mean I have nothing to offer but my word. I do use auto brightness. But because of the suggestion I'll probably set it to manual and see what that does.
I got 7 hours screen on time with the stock battery. The battery says "3.8 v li-ion battery"
I've gotten more than this is the past but I've also gotten less.
Like I said you don't have to believe me but... I'm using the stock battery.
And to the poster who mentioned to get an iPhone - I have one for my business line

battery statistics are poor statistics in general. there are too many variables. luckily we have removeable batteries if we need mroe juice.
heres some postings to add to the mix
put my phone through the paces with fantasy football.
held up pretty well. stock battery mind you. on pace for nearly 8 hrs of on screen time. This isnt with typical use though... With typical use I can get 20hrs and 5-6 hrs of screen time. I thought anywhere from 4-6 hours of on screen time was what people were suppposed to be getting.
Yeah we all use our phone differently. I rarely actually talk on the phone with my GS3 because I use my iPhone for that. But everything else I do on my GS3, reading news, some browsing, xda.
I just thought I'd share what I do for people that may want to get better battery life.

Then I shouldn't use the word "usage". I meant 7 hours screen on time. Sometimes I got 8 or more, but only use it continuously after charging, no idle time.

Yet that involves turning off data. IMO the smartphone should always stay online. In my experience, iPhone can get constant -4 ~ -5ma juice flow during idle even with data (2G) and all the push notifications on, which are the only things I want for stay online. I feel its hard to get similar result on my GS3 though.

I'm always online, whether it's wi-fi or 4G. Luckily I have wi-fi at home and at work.
Like, literally as I'm walking out the door of my house, I turn on my mobile data, and when I get to work I turn it off. When I'm leaving work I turn mobile data back on and when I get home I turn it off.

what you did is pointless. If you leave data on, data is not connected when wifi is connected, and it will connect automatically when no wifi connection.

It's not pointless to me. As I said a few posts before... I have OCD, obsessive compulsive disorder. Things like this affect me. I know that being connected to Wi-Fi that data is not connected, but in my brain, it's as if something is telling me that because my data toggle is on, it's running.
I really can't help it.
