[Q] Official Bricked my Nexus S... :( HELP!!! - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was actually testing out the framework.jar that my friend was messing around, and then, it was endless boot of aokp boot animation, so i tried rebooting to recovery to just flash back the rom, but then..... I CANT BOOT INTO MY RECOVERY.... This is where i started to panic... I tried using the Linux tool, but it didnt worked, i tried formatting system, wiping worked but booting to recovery is a no hope... AND NOW, its totally bricked, i cant do anything... Flashing TWRP, it worked only on the start, which means, it only shows TWRP Blue logo, never booted to recovery properly... Please help!!! If not, i cant continue my hobby...

can you boot into fastboot mode?
if yes, why you don't flash the recovery using fastboot? or even flash NS factory image?

Why did you use the Linux tool prior to just reflashing your recovery? :S That's just asking for trouble.

Have you tried going into Download mode and using Odin to reflash to stock? If not, then that may be the solution to your problems.

So was Odin successful?

Bootloop help

So I was cruising around the Nexus S forums and found a rom I liked after I unlocked and rooted my phone.
I flashed Paranoid Android and then flashed the Matr1x kernel. Thus putting me in a neverending bootloop.
No ability to go back to CWM so I can't restore. And I can't put it in download mode so no ODIN.
What the heck do I do?
Can anyone help?
BTW if this is actually called a soft brick I'm sorry my terminology might be off.
Also I did this because the last phone I did extensive flashing with was an HTC Inspire 4G and it was easy to flash stuff just clear everything and flash what you wanted no bootloops. Sadly this phone not so much.
Hmm... No recovery...I've been stuck in a bootloop but I had recovery!
Sorry for the useless post, I cant help you..
Are you able to get into bootloader?
Usually when a bootloop occurs you should still be able to go in recovery.
When you say "no ability to access CWM" do you mean ROM Manager? Or the recovery mode?
What happens when you try to access the recovery mode?
same issue like urs
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775933
try clean install;
flash Rom-Wiper.zip
flash Dalvik-Wiper.zip
then;
factory reset,
Format the system, data, cache, boot & partitions of your device.
I mean no access to recovery. CWM is Clock Work Mod Recovery. I have no access to fastboot either. The only thing my phone can do is bootloop.
You have to be mistaken.
Press power and volume up to get into fastboot ( bootloader). Then pick recovery....
That rom or kernel will not erase recovery. If your phone is in a bootloop it is making it past the bootloader
So it appears it as if I was mistaken. I got into fastboot and booted into CWM I'm still confused as to what I did, but I think I corrupted the Kernel.
It was the weirdest thing though. I tried it at least a dozen times, then I tried to run down the battery and try it again afterwards, and it didn't work so I gave up. Then I tried it again about 5 minutes ago and it worked. I'm sorry I cause you guys so much confusion. I've been doing this for so long I guess I just didn't doubt I was doing it right.

[Q] need help, noob flashed a kernel by accident.

Ok, this is my first time unlocking a device and it went well. I used Hasoon2000's kit to unlock and got twrp flashed and was going to get the Paranoid Android rom and Rohan's kernel all set to go. while getting it all set up, I was trying to figure out how to launch the command for the kernel but ran it instead. now my device is in a perpetual booting loop. Is there anything I can do or am I out of luck?

Wipe everything except sd card and flash a new ROM..
Typed from my HTC Explorer(Pico)
Powered with NextGen v1.5 and XDA Premium!
reboot into bootloader and "fastboot flash boot boot.img" the stock kernel from PA
How would I go about accessing the bootlaoder if it just keeps loading to the HTC boot screen then resetting itself?

So I am in the bootloader, now whenever I click recover it goes back into the loop. is it possible for me to flash the stock kernel to stabilize it?
that's what i said. extract the boot.img from the rom. boot.img = kernel and flash it using "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
my problem here is that i don't have PA flashed on it yet. Is there a way to fastboot the rom onto it from my pc? there isn't an option to do that from Hasoon2000's kit.
I got into twrp on my device. Do I need to mount the SD to put PA on my device to flash it?

Alright, just started the flash. hope everything goes well. thanks for your help so far.
PA is flashed, but now it won't load the rom. It starts the PA loading animation, then nothing it has been sitting there for about 30 mins.
I have the feeling that I may have soft bricked the phone. I have tried re-flashing PA and even tried CM10, both times clearing both caches. Is there anything else I can do to get past the boot animation?
Are you on hboot 1.14 (2.20 firmware)?
Did you flash the kernel before installing the rom?

yes to both, and I had just read about needing to flash the boot.img first. For my own clarification, the boot.img is the kernel correct? If so Hasoon2000's kit has a section to put the img in and just flash it on. When ever I choose factory reset from the bootloader, it takes me into twrp, by doing this has it already done the factory reset, or is there something else I need to do?
this is starting to feel like a trial by fire situation for me

You factory reset from bootloader? Can you access your SD card in TWRP?
Yes I can access the sdcard from twrp, and I have used the factory reset option a couple of times to access twrp when I was first having issues getting in from the recovery option.
update - I just tried flashing it again and It finally cleared the animation. I am setting it up now and thanks to everyone for their help.

[Q] TWRP flash says successful... but stock recovery is still there?

Hey Guys. Im running cm12s on my oneplus one, and i would like to switch to oxygenOS because they are getting the touchscreen firmware fixes. Ive flashed recoveries onto multiple phones without this issue before.
I downloaded twrp, booted the phone into fastboot, unlocked it, got the success signal, flashed it, again, success, and then rebooted. Then i powered down and booted to recovery aaaand..... stock recovery. WTF? So i wipe all user data and clear the cache with the stock recovery and try again. Nope. Its still the stock recovery. i dont understand it. I tried with CWM aswell. It says success, so why did it not work? I booted into the OS and checked developer settings, and disabled update recovery and all that, Nevertheless, when i flash TWRP or CWM, it does not work. I dont understand how this could happen.
I followed the steps from the Official guide on the official oneplus forum, It wont let me post a link.
I am using an OEM samsung cable.
Can anyone help me?

Alright, I've just tried that. After flashing it, i Ran this command and as expected it rebooted back to the bootloader. Nothing else todo there, so i rebooted and booted to the recovery. It STILL boots to the stock recovery! So i tried again, but this time, i flashed it a second time after rebooting to the bootloader, but that still has not worked. is my unit defective? I will try now with another computer.

I figured it out!
I figured it out. Instead of rebooting after flashing the custom recovery and allowing cyanogen to re write it, i simply turned the phone off and booted directly to recovery and sure enough, TWRP. Problem solved. I dont understand why cyanogen would do that to me and not anyone else!

CM didn't just do that to you, it's happened to every single person who's tried to flash TWRP after taking the Lollipop update, that's why the question is included in the FAQ thread.

i accidentally flashed a custom rom over oxygenos lol help (really though help)

Hi.
So this was pretty stupid of me. I was trying to flash LiquidRemix onto my OP6, but I forgot to wipe the system partition. Flashed the rom, then blu_spark twrp, and rebooted into recovery to flash gapps and all. Got a black screen with a static LED. Didn't think that was a big issue cause this has happened before with normal TWRP on OB6 or OB7. Tried hard resetting to see if I could get into system, same result. Tried fastboot flashing 9.0.2, no help. And finally tried flashing OB9 via fastboot, and also no help.
I've reverted back to my tiny S6 and have sent repair request to OP. I haven't gotten anything back yet, so I thought in the mean time, I'd look for help on XDA and try to fix it before having the chance to send it in.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
// EDIT
Figured out how to fix it. Used the MSMDownloadTool to unbrick my device. Worked wonders. Thanks to r/oneplus Discord
I did something like that I had to format data after I flashed the stock rom

I'm able to get into fastboot, but even if I fastboot boot [insert twrp file name here], it'd still result in the blank screen and static LED
Hmm I don't know then sorry
Try
fastboot flash boot twrp.zip
Then
fastboot reboot
You will need to use full stock rom first before doing anything else though.
I was in the same boat as you the other day. I flashed different versions of twrp until i managed to boot one because some twrp isn't compatible with pie.
Lol I never wipe system...
Might sound like a "hard-bricking" issue since you cant boot into the OS nor recovery. There 's a hard brick recovery guide, but it'll put you down to oreo OOS: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6/how-to/tool-msmdownloadtool-v4-0-international-t3798892
As long as you can boot into fastboot, you can follow the guide's process with no problem.

When flashing stock rom with Odin, rebooting is stuck at boot logo

Hello, some days ago i found a Samsung Galaxy Ace Style (SM-G310HN/heatnfc3g) and i decided to mod it, i installed TWRP via Odin and all was ok, but when i tried to install CyanogenMod 12.1 it didn't work. Since it didn't work, i decided to flash stock ROM. It worked once, but now it doesn't work anymore. I suspect it's the PIT file, because when i reflashed stock ROM another time with a PIT file now it doesn't work anymore, let me try to explain:
When i try to flash anything (Stock ROM or recovery, custom or stock), it... doesn't, Odin says it flashed but when i reboot to recovery or reboot to stock, it stays at the Samsung logo or doesn't flash the recovery, even if it says that it flashed. What should i do? Is my phone bricked? How can i unbrick it if it's bricked?

Have you tried booting into stock recovery and selecting the factory reset option and the wipe cache partition option? It is sometimes necessary after flashing via Odin, I've had to do it a few times to solve a bootloop.

Well the problem is... i cant reboot into stock recovery. Its stuck in twrp, and it's not really a "bootloop", it stays stuck at the Samsung logo. I tried to wipe cache and dalvik on Twrp but nothing.
I cant even flash the stock recovery since as i said in the original post, if i try to flash EVERYTHING Odin says it flashed but on the phone nothing happened.
