New Voodoo Sound Codec? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hi all,
I am just wondering if anyone has heard of an update by supercurio for a newer voodoo sound codec for the g2x. The development on github shows nothing has been done on it in nearly a year.
I really like high quality music and a higher version is the only piece missing from my puzzle.
Any news at all would be great for better or worse. Have a great day everyone!

The g2x doesn't truly support voodoo, so he most likely discontinued work for it.
All voodoo can do on the g2x is amplify the audio.

I flashed the beats audio apk and used voodoo to turn up the amp.
Sounds great and I can get the loudness I wanted.

I wish there would be sound improvements with all this stuff but I see little to no difference! My real question is how loud do you guys need the music to be lol, if I turn it all the way up on my crappy ear buds I eventually have to turn it down cause its too loud, and my right ear is 60ish % cause of gun fire and fire works and stuff haha.

Just in my truck. I have a tape player with an adapter to use the stock stereo. The amp boost allows me to drowned out try he tape player sounds. Haha

Thanks for the feed back everyone! Looks like its v1 for life lol.
FYI I run voodoo sound (as I hear it improve sound quality), with Neutron mp3 player no settings on (improves sampling to 32 bit instead of 16 bit like other players), along with equalizer app with basic EQ setting to get bass n treble poppin and just the reverb set to large hall.
320 kbps mp3's sound out of this world on my Sennhieser 598.
That is what I found works for me. These days I am finding less is more for sound quality and no longer use beats audio or my fiio e5.

[Q] Sound quality through earphones

How good is the sound quality through a pair of decent earphones? I saw the RMAA tests GSMArena did and it showed excellent results. I currently have a Desire and the sound quality through my sony earphones is pretty mediocre. So is this a good deal better?
Put it this way, if you follow instructions here to install to Voodoo sound hack you will be very impressed. Using Etymotic ER4 earphones I find the sound quality is easily as good as my X-series Sony Walkman with far more volume as well.

Do you find your ER4 sound a bit "flat"? At least I have to apply a bit bass boost + some eq at the two lower frequencies with my ER4. Just curious though, would you recommend enabling the "Tune Speaker for Music" option? I've been testing different combination of settings (voodoo + CM7 dsp settings), so far I haven't settled on a setting I'm completely satisfied with.
can u please link me to that voodoo kernel? i saw two threads regarding it:

I don't find any need for eq at all - in fact eq degrades the sound quality - do you have ER4P's or ER4S as they have slightly different frequency response? I have P's which are more portable device friendly.
Tune speaker is for non earphone use - just try it and decide for yourself.

I have an ER4P. I find lows rather weak with my ER4P without any eq or boost. This is compared to a Rockbox powered MP3 player without any eq/boost at all. Can you please elaborate how eq degrades the sound quality, eg. distortion? I do notice easily audible noise when Bass Boost is set to moderate or extreme though. I guess I'll leave at least Tune Speaker option on for now, I think I started to prefer it on.

I find eq just makes things sound less natural with overbloated bottom frequencies. Another possible explanation for our different observations may be that I have custom ear molds?

Aaah I see! Well I don't know how much difference custom ear molds make, this is something only you would have the experience. I've also tried my friend's UE Triple.Fi 10, its lows were a lot stronger even without eq, so eq would be unnecessary with his earphone.
Another explanation could be that we have completely different taste.

Everyone's tastes are different - my son told me today that my setup sounded too bright for him. Also I got a new set of on ear headphones today (B & Ws) and they needed a lot of eq adjustment - sounding equally as fantastic as the ETY's now though!

I have klipcsh s4 and they sound great on stock ns. I also like the ue triplefi but I broke those long ago at the bud and have some ue metrofi 10 I think (they've discontinued stuff so I get confused trying to remember their legacy models, I def don't get the cheap ones ) that sound great on stock but the wire is broken at the jack and they cut out sometimes need to fix those.
Shure makes some diesel buds. I have a pair of old ec2's that are still kicking after all these years but they sound horribly cold without eq. With eq they sound great. But man do they have fantastic build quality. Nice long sturdy cords, tough plugs and connection points, came with foam tips.
No matter what you're using I suggest comply foam tips, they made all the difference for the s4's. The tips they came with were weak.

Enable SRS effects for entire system

Would it be possible to enable SRS effects for anything using the audio? The loud speaker could benefit from this when im using YouTube or Pandora. would it be too resource intensive?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
When I see 'SRS' all I can think of is Supplemental Restraint System.
As for SRS audio, I'm guessing you're talking about Sound Retrieval System, which creates immersive '3D' audio experience on stereo speaker systems. I'm not at all confident that it would have any measurable benefit since the TB speaker(s?) is/are too small and closely spaced for an SRS processor to be effective.
If you use the stock HTC music player there is an option for sound enhancement and then it lists srs...and it honestly does improve the audio from being so flat

[Q] Headphone Headache

I have a pair of beats headphones which sound terrible in the infuse so I tried a couple other pairs I have and same thing. They all sound like the singer in in a cave far far away, and void of bass. I did some reading and someone said to buy an adapter for the headphones. I purchased a 3.5mm TRRS to 3.5 TRRS Adapter. This fixed the issue until I changed to modem KK4 and also KI4, and now I am back to cave sound. Can someone explain what the modem has to do with headphones? or offer suggestions to make them work? Thanks!
Running Infused v2.2.3
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622
Baseband I997UCKI4
Firmware 2.3.3
The modem messes with headphones? i had no idea.

Yeah I tried both. Does anyone use non samsung headphones in their infuse and can confirm they sound good?
Flash a kernel with voodoo sound (core a, b) and download voodoo control. Improves sound quality a LOT.

I use non SAMSUNG headphones and they sound good. I think I've flashed evey modem out there too lol.
My infuse is my daily music driver too. Never had an issue with about 4 different headsets.
I use Skull Candy ear buds, cheap speakers, and voodoo, awesome sound and bass.
My songs sound bad, kinda like what you are describing when I turn on 5.1 though. Maybe that is your problem?

Better Audio?

I know that this topic has been discussed before. I have tried the voodoo app and i have bought it. It just seems to make the sound even worse. I believe the culprit is dsp manager. So here Is what happens, I usually keep my volume 2-3 notches below the highest volume. I am using the acoustic preset on dsp manager with the bass slightly higher. If I go 2-3 notches above my normal volume, the sound gets really crackely and choppy. I tried the same song, but with the same preset but with even more bass on my sansa and it sounded crystal clear and really powerful even at higher volumes. Can someone suggest a fix. I am running HFP 2.1 and Faux's kernel.
Edit: I am also running beats audio from like march. And I'm using the google play music app

Try to freeze Dsp and install either EQ or Volume+, then give it a shot. As far as I'm concerned G2X doesn't have the necessary libraries for beat audio to work.

Beats doesn't work and when you place the files where they go it breaks poweramp and dsp
Sent from my LG-G2x using Tapatalk 2
The first thing you need to do is remove the beats audio as it does nothing for the sound. Voodoo sound is much better as long as you have a kernel that has it built in. PowerAMP is one of the best equaliser apps out there for android but the overall sound quality coming from the G2x is not that good and will never be that good without better hardware.

I agree to disagree. Yes, get rid of beats. It didnt anything when I used it. Ditch google music its crap (intended for those of us who enjoy music? I think not.) I use PlayerPro (paid) with treble/bass booster preset with the bass knob almost all the way up. No matter how loud I make it, it kicks ass.
I'm also running RG2x MIUI with Faux kernel. Cleanest, smoothest, and all around best MIUI. Sorry Stormageddon. I used yours and my phone kept freezing. Not your fault, I know this. My phone just doesnt seem to like your roms. Or MIUI.us or Singh-MIUI's either for that matter. RG2x is the only one I can get to run with FC'ing a FC.
I use Winamp pro in conjunction with DSP manager and get GREAT sound (especially from FLAC ) I disable the EQ in DSP manager, Compression - Slight, Bass Boost - Slight, and depending on what I am listening to I will adjust Virtual Room. Everything else in DSP manager OFF. Then, in Winamp I use the Awesome 10 band EQ to adjust the sound to my liking.
I've been using winamp lately, but it still cannot drive my headphones as well as my sansa. Probably just the ****ty audio hardware from LG.
Also how do I get rid of beats audio?

I know not of this ****ty audio you speak of. I consider myself an audiophile (500 gigs of FLAC and counting, high end Polk Audio home theater sound) and honestly, I am quite impressed with the audio quality from my phone. The actual hardware that is in the LG G2x is the same Wolfson DAC that is in the iPod touches and the iPhones. That DAC is really not that good especially for an audiophile. I never use my phone for music, and yes I only listen to FLAC or better and have a complete Sennheiser setup. I have tried making the audio better with an amp but even that just made the quality barely noticeably better. The quality is not that good and will never be that good.

Yeah. Only really if i'm listening to dubstep or drum n bass. If listening to rock i have it set to standard with no eq...
The dynamic range of my earphones just give a great sound without any eq...
I prefer listening to clean sounds anyway... just the sound engineer in me.

lol i too prefer clean sound so when i ever i set up my eq i just try to get my headphone to play louder without changing the original sound i use to go hard on the bass but when i got into dubstep im happy in the middle lol when i got the o3d spent like 20min trying to get the perfect sound.
320kbps > Sound Good With No EQ .
You tried FLAC ? never tried
Flac lossless files are great but finding a player is a bit of a pain. I always go for the highest bitrate.
Yeah. I try not to change the eq at any point. Reason being is that if you amplify the eq then it can cause loss of certain subtle parts of sounds

I always use the flat equaliser, hate mucking with the equaliser because you can easily miss details if you do that.
Anyway, I find the O3D's audio DSP quite good (TWL6040 iirc), beats any phone using Realtek (sadly a lot), but Wolfson (SGS3 for example) comes up tops. Wolfson chips produce the best audio imo.
