[Q] CWM Install ROM reports success but did nothing - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've successfully rooted by Transformer TF101 (B60K) using the script posted by rebound821 (Thanks!). It installed CWM which I subsequently upgraded to v 5.8.3.4.
CWM starts up in the usual way, booting with the volume down and then shifting to volume up when the text appears. All seems good.
I wipe the cache partition, no problems. [Cache wipe complete.]
I wipe the Dalvik cache. (Before I actually confirm the wipe I get the "E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]" but it doesn't look like that is too important.) [Dalvick Cache wiped.]
Then I install Revolver-4_RC3.zip which I had placed on the internal SD card. This appears to work fine with a stream of messages like these:
---
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Welcome to Revolver4 - ICS
[ ] Mounting SYSTEM
[ ] Mounting DATA
[ ] Mounting CACHE
[ ] Formatting SYSTEM
... <more messages including a long time waiting while the Copying files goes on>
[ ] Unmounting CACHE
[ ] Writing BOOT
[*] Done!
..
Install from sdcard complete.
-----
Everything looks fine. I select reboot. I get an interesting blue progress bar for a moment then a standard ASUS boot screen. Then I wait while "Android is upgrading..." 170 applications.
Then I'm back in the standard ASUS issue ICS (Kernel 2.6.39.4 Mercury #1/Build IML74K.US_epad-9.2.1.24-20120503) with all of my personal apps still in place!
It's as if I did nothing at all.
I'm pretty mystified. My only clue is that there are no asterisks between the square brackets in the messages above, except for "[*] Done!" and I wonder whether that means these activities all failed without any error messages.
I'd be grateful for some suggestions on how to complete this installation. Thanks!
Rich

yes. Unless you did a factory reset or format of the system partition all your apps and data will still be in place. As far as the kernel it should be the same as well with Revolver. Revolver is nothing more than the stock Asus firmware with a few tweaks and init.d startup scripts.

Thanks, but
Hi,
I appreciate your answer and I don't mind feeling stupid. At least it means I can still learn.
But, having accepted what you said, I downloaded "Revolver Parts" to see what tweaks are available. And all it will do is say "Sorry, you need a Revolver ROM!"
So I don't think I successfully installed Revolver.
Rich

Read through the Revolver thread because that is a current bug with Revolver. There is actually a patch available to fix it. I would recommend ARHD over Revolver because the last few releases of Revolver seem to have had bugs.

Thanks!
You got it exactly right.
I hadn't read through the Revolver thread because I was so sure that I had somehow messed up and didn't even have Revolver.
The patch to RC3 fixed the issue with Revolver Parts which confirmed that everything else worked fine.
Although I've downloaded ARHD I'm going to wait and see how Revolver works. I've had this tablet almost a year and hadn't planned on rooting it because it was doing everything I needed. But the last round of official updates had made it so unstable I couldn't use it anymore. (The gmail app was useless.)
If this makes it stable again, I'm going to be a happy camper.
Thanks again for your help.
Rich

Good stuff. Also try flashing Guevors kernel. It fixed a lot of stability issues for me as well.

(ROM) Cyanogen 7 RC 2 Unofficial Release Updated 3/8/11

Sorry can't post in dev section yet but drod was nice enough to let me get my hands on cyanogen mod 7 release candidate 2 and said I could share. This is not an official release and not supported yet. To flash place zip on internal sd boot in clockwork wipe data and install zip.
I used clockwork .08
Update: fix for internal sd problem

Here is a link to the gapps for Gingerbread that gives full market out of the box
I installed the rom first and let it boot up then went back in clockwork and installed gapps. Don't know if it matters.

When you say the internal SD doesn't work, do you mean it doesn't show up at all? Or could it possibly be /mnt/emmc?

Went thru the archive, seem genuine, I may give it a try later, I'll post mileage...

Up and running as I type. Looks really nice. Put soft buttons on status bar which will help me at night not having to feel for the home and back buttons on the side since they don't illuminate. Market is full and working quite nicely as it backed up all of my purchases and dl's right away.
Only thing not working for me so far is the docking station. Still a nogo. Just came off of bitrix to try this......
Well done!!!

Odd it worked fine for me coming out of vegan 5.1.1 just by wiping data. you could try wiping system or re downloading the zip
Where is the recovery folder? I downloaded the update...... .zip folder and it wouldn't load the rom, CWmod said it was "bad"

What version clockwork are you using? I used .08
Installed this last night from a link he sent on twitter. Think its the same version. Only issue i see so far is my sdcard is not showing up. I get sdcard for internal memory but not for my actual card. A message comes up when I insert it saying that one was inserted then it says its safe to remove. Not sure how to mount it. I don't see it in /mnt either.

Calkulin has a nice format all zip (see first post here)that you flash like a rom before flashing a new rom. works good only 1 step instead of many. only thing it doesn't seem to format is Delvik so that has to be done manually but it cuts out a few steps in the rom prep work.
This rom has the same shape icons in the right corner as the vegan roms and the same notification icons as cm rc2. The mounts are sdcard and emmc for external. The res has been changed so some apps wont scale properly. If it wasn't for that I would have kept using it because I prefer the minimal notification icons compared to vegans experimental new icons.

On my tab the internal storage is mapped to /sdcard while /emmc is empty. my external (actual) sdcard is nowhere to be found. settings-storage shows the sdcard as having 13.07gb total. my actual sd card is 4gb so this is confirming its actually the internal memory. All the Vegan roms showed my sdcard as mounted at /sdcard2. was just curious as to how I should go about mounting my sdcard so i can access it? I have no issues with this memory mounting setup just curious how to get my card to be mounted. Can i type something in a terminal to mount it?
I realize that the vegan series is a moddified version of cm and this is an attempt to be true cm tweaked to run on our tabs and that some things are gonna be different. So if I am missing something with the sdcard mounting please let me know. I think Drod2169 does great work and have loved rubix on my X for months now.
I jumped on this rom from Bitrix and my sd card reads exactly the same as it did before as sdcard while my internal is emmc. It seems as if it's not liking the change from your previous association to this new association of internal/external storage. Were you using a pre-Gingerbread rom before? If so check out this link for the association of storage files...this may help
I also use rootexplorer and have no problems accessing/copying/moving files etc.
I was on Calkuins beta, then wiped and installed vegan ginger experimental 3/8/11. After it started and loaded apps from market Drod2169 sent me a link to this one on twitter so I wiped and installed this. Maybe that the kernel didn't install right our something.will try to redownload and try again.

It is cm 7 rc2 I say unofficial release because it may be changed slightly before they officially announce its release. If you don't want it you don't have to use it, I just thought I would post it for people that do.
So. It turns out that if I knew how to read I could have fixed my problem a while ago. The first post says right on it that it was updated to fix sdcard problem. The version I had was from before this "fix". Downloaded updated one and installed. All is well. Market seem good so far all items are mounting speed seems good. Don't use youtube so cant comment on video but flash works on the sites i've tried it on. Thanks Drod2169 for giving us some more of your time.
I'm curious as I've ran bittrix's unofficial and several of gojimi's Ginger vegan. Do installed apps show up on the market under My Apps? On every other Ginger rom I've tried, Market-My Apps just shows nothing. Love gingerbread but it makes it a pain trying to keep apps up to date. Also does purchasing work, or does vending FC when trying to?
Thanks

Requirements :
- Acer Iconia Smart... obviously
- Acer drivers available HERE
- CWM recovery files for Iconia Smart. HERE
I) First Step
Update to latest Acer revision available HERE
WARNING this update will erase all your data
II) Install the custom Recovery
Plug your Iconia Smart to your PC.
Unpack the zip file containing the recovery.
Execute install_recovery.cmd and just follow the steps.
III) Preparing
Copy the ROM ( Smartoonay-1.0.zip) to your sdcard (this has to be an external sdcard, not the phone memory).
IV) Almost there
Switch off the phone and boot to recovery by pressing [vol+] + [focus] + [power]. Keep pressing the buttons until you're in the recovery (yellow text on black screen)
(You get "focus" by half pressing the camera button).
V) WIPE !
Once in the recovery choose "wipe data/factory reset" and validate (pressing camera button).
Also "wipe cache partition"
And then in "Advanced" choose "Wipe Dalvik Cache"
VI) Installing the ROM !
Go back to home menu of the recovery, choose "install zip from sd card" then "choose zip from sdcard". Find the file Smartoonay-1.0.zip (you just copied it on your sdcard) and validate to launch the installation.
Once done just reboot the phone and you're good to go !
You have just convinced me to buy this phone. I was torn between this and the Note, it's refreshing to see some Development on this.
Thankyou very much, your instructions are excellent BTW!
FYI, for me it worked once (after reset) and then went into a bootloop after installing this rom. Never got into fixing it as Vache did not respond anymore... you haven't had that issue?
Regards,
Nika.
Hi,
It bootloops on the bootanimation ? It can happen and usually it works if you remove the battery for 5min.
Can you describe where it stopped working and what you did just before it bootlooped ?
I haven't tried removing the batt, it just bootlooped after my first softreset in the morning. I did try several times, tried resetting all caches, and then reverted back to 1.000.19 eventually and gave up...
I may try again soon... too much work right now
Regards,
Nika.
Going to give it a go this evening.
Really excited to try it out.
So how did it go ?
In my case it keeps displaying the Acer / Android logo... it does not boot (just Android logo)...
Thank´s for me works well
Well...I have tried like 10 times, still nothing.
I started by installing cwm & making a backup (good step to add to your steps in the OP). Then I started install of smartoonay:
1. install 1.000.19
2. boot 1.000.19 once (& configure next, next, finish)
3. install new cwm
4. factory defaults from cwm
5. clear cache from cwm
6. clear dalvic cache from cwm
7. install smartoonay from cwm
Boot wail stop at the acer/android screen (with the 3 green androids).
I have tried fact/def from vol+/- and from cwm. I have tried clearing caches before and after smartoonay. I've downloaded smartoonay rom from vache several 3 times to make sure it's not a faulty rom... nothing...
Restored the backup: everything fine again...but still no smartoonay
Regards,
Nika.
Sorry to read that it doesn't work for you. Have you tried with the .24 official update? It did work for several people.
If it still doesn't work you might have to wait for a next release from vache that will take the smart to a new level ;-)

Nope... for whatever reason it doesn't work for me.
1. Install .24 version (link see above)
2. Install cwm (4.0.0.8 version from S300-recovery.img 14/07/2011)
3. factory defaults from cwm
4. clear cache from cwm
5. clear dalvic cache from cwm
6. install smartoonay from cwm
Still only see my little Android friends
That's disapointing. Keep yourhopes up as Vache is working on a whole new ROM for the Iconia Smart. It's time consuming but it's going forward and it should be worth the wait
For the current ROM I think we tried everything (removing the battery and all) already and it might be an issue with you model.

I really hope he's able to give us something that'll work on all devices! I love Vache's work and was really disappointed when the only custom ROM we have didn't boot.

It doesn't work on yours either? Did you try it? Remember my device has a defect (touchscreen top is defective), so possibly it works on yours... (and I really did everything I can think of, including formatting system, etc., manually)...
My S300 also stuck in booting screen (Acer logo with 3 android idol) after flash the Smartoonay ROM...
I forgot backup my ROM before flashing it, does any one can help me how can flash back the official ROM without backup?

I actually had it before general release. Alas, my device just hangs until I take out the battery. Shame really, the root & cwm part worked great.

Hi edmund,
Just download the official ROM from somewhere (OS_Acer_1.000.24.EMEA.GEN1_A23G_S300), see above post. Or find yourself another ROM (I also used EUUs_Acer_S300_1.000.19_EMEA-GEN1_01.05.00 in the past, just google for it).
Connect your device with USB and install it using the setup.exe in the download.
In my case the installer crashed btw, because I have the android sdk installed which has a newer (incompatible) version of adb. Just make sure the PATH variable does not contain the ADB.EXE (use "for %I in (adb.exe) do echo %~dp$PATH:I" to figure that out).
Good luck!
Regards,
Nika.
Dear all,
I have been trying to get this ROM going but still no success.
I have compared the two boot images, and they are almost the same. It looks like it should be possible to run the Smartoonay rom with the stock boot image. That gives the highest success as well, because when I try to use the default Smartoonay rom it will get stuck at the first Android page (so it never shows the ICS boot animation). I also tried using the Smartoonay boot image with the stock ROM, but it then also gets stuck at the Android screen (see above image)
When I use the stock boot image, it finally displays the ICS boot animation, but it will get stuck in a bootloop. Usually caused by not clearing cache and such, but no solution in my case.
When I look at recovery.log, I do see one thing that I've never seen before:
Code:
Formatting /system...
[COLOR=Red][B]mtd: not erasing bad block at 0x08e00000[/B][/COLOR]
Done.
I wonder whether this one bad block may be the cause?
Anyone any other suggestions? Or maybe some instructions (a kitchen???) on how to make a new ROM like Smartoonay did? Any new Smartoonay ROMs to look forward to?
Regards,
Nika.

By the way... I fixed my screen by getting a new Touch Screen Digitizer for Acer S300 Iconia Smart Device is difficult to take apart (first take off top cover where the power button is in, which is a flat plastic, then take the screw out, then take the entire top cover off, remove two screws, open battery department cover, remove battery & screws, and then you can use a soft plastic pull tool to take the screen out...)

[RECOVERY][TF101][OFFICIAL] TWRP 2.3.2.3 with on-screen keyboard! [2012-12-12]

Team Win Recovery Project 2.3, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Phone look:
Tablet look:
CHANGELOG for 2.3.2.3:
-Fixes / enhancements to handle the multiple user setup introduced by Android 4.2 (see notes)
-Fixed a bug with deleting a backup with a space in the name
-Added highlights on keyboard key presses
-TF101: Ignore blkid when mounting /data
CHANGELOG for 2.3.0.0:
-Rebased onto AOSP Jelly Bean source code
-Rewrote backup, restore, wipe, and mount code in C++ classes for easier maintenance going forward
NOTE: backups from prior versions of TWRP are still compatible with 2.3
-ADB sideload functionality from AOSP is included in 2.3, see this link for more info
-Re-wrote fix permissions entirely in C++ and runs in a few seconds instead of a few minutes (thanks to bigbiff)
-Improvements to zip finding in OpenRecoveryScript (should be a lot fewer GooManager automation issues)
-Faster boot times
-Added charging indicator while in recovery (only updates once every 60 seconds)
While this update may not bring a host of new must-have features, this update is a significant re-write of much of the core TWRP code. AOSP Jelly Bean recovery source moved to mostly C++ code and now all of the "TWRP" code is fully rewritten into C++ as well. Now that we've laid this groundwork, we're in a much better position to pull in future AOSP recovery updates as well as implementing more great new features.
Since TWRP 2.3 is based on AOSP jelly bean sources, TWRP now uses recovery API 3 instead of 2. Some zips may no longer work if the developer is using an out-of-date update-binary. This API change should not be a problem on newer devices, but older devices will probably encounter several zips that need to be updated. If needed, you can try using this update-binary that was compiled with current sources. It goes in your zip file in the META-INF/com/google/android folder.
DOWNLOAD:
The fastest and easiest way to install TWRP is to use the GooManager app:
Play Store Link
Direct Download
1) Install GooManager from the Play Store
2) Open GooManager and provide root permissions
3) Hit Menu (or the button with the 3 dots on your screen) and then Install OpenRecovery
OR:
You can find more information and download links on our website!
NOTE: If you're coming from another build of TWRP, you may need to go into settings and tap reset defaults to reset the storage paths so that you can see your zip files.
BUGS:
If you have found a bug, please acquire a recovery.log - you can do this in two ways - the fastest is "adb pull /tmp/recovery.log" right after you have the issue. Alternatively in the advanced menu there's an option to copy the log to the sdcard. Also consider posting it to our github issues log. It's pretty much impossible for us to keep up with the more than 30 threads that we have for the devices that we "directly" support. If you have a significant problem that cannot be answered in this thread, your best bet is to contact us via our website, or find us in our IRC channel below. If you see someone that's struggling, feel free to point it out to us. We need your help to help us keep track of all of our devices! Thanks!
SUPPORT:
Live support is available via #twrp on Freenode with your IRC client or just click this link.
We also now back up and restore boot! Yay!

A few thanks for this specific build:

RaymanFX for finding a config that worked. Still not sure where he found it yet exactly
And... Dees_Troy and eyeballer for their relentless nagging
first ...
well second lol
So, third ......thanks guys, that's awesome !
thanks, been waiting for this.
great work, i've been waiting forever and finally have this on all my devices and those that I support.
I've been using the other one RaymanFX had built and both are awesome. Only 1 change other than the known issues, would be remove the "Bootloader" button under restart. But just my opinion. Thanks Again.

Good note. That's a theme issue then. I can build a new theme zip or something later. Working on releasing the much delayed Nexus One build.
EDIT: I've been informed by Dees_Troy that we have build flags to do just this. So I'm adding them to my configs so the next build should have them removified.
It's worth pointing out that this build of TWRP has a recompiled kernel with boot and recovery exposed. You can finally back up boot and restore it.
GooManager keeps hanging at Looking for recoveries after trying to install OpenRecoveryScript. Unable to retrieve files...
Finally recovery on a touch screen device the way it should be! Thanks guys!

I thought I would give this a try and went to the TWRP page link as instructed. Followed the instructions to download the open recovery through goo manager, which it did and it rebooted my tablet and all looked good. I then tried to reboot to recovery from Team EOS3 Power menu. The usual TWRP blue curtain was there and when it raised, I saw the text at the bottom that my /data partition was being formatted without formatting /data/media and the tablet rebooted, without ever getting to the TWRP recovery menu and I'm now back at the initial Google setup screen. Guess I should have made a fresh Titanium backup first. A warning would have been nice, or is this a bug?
Strange. But I copped the blob from twrp site as "not recommended" suposedly. Ran the command in terminal cuz I don't Fux with goo manager... Everything worked fine. No issues

Did you ever try to use goo manager with the old unofficial version?

No, I was using RaymanFX's TWRP build prior to this and before that Team Rogue Touch and before that Roach's CWM build, all flashed from within recovery. I only did the GooManager thing because that was the recommended method. Subsequent boots to recovery did not reproduce the data wipe and after reflashing my ROM and restoring my apps, I went into recovery without a hitch. It was only after installing this one through GooManager per the instructions. It downloaded, rebooted and flashed and rebooted back to Android (Team EOS3 JB #57). After a few minutes I rebooted to recovery from the Power menu in EOS3 and as soon as the blue curtain raised it was wiping my data partition - /data/media. Of course, I didn't expect that and didn't get any chance to stop it. I know I read somewhere before that open recovery wasn't working on the TF101, but since this was new and it was recommended to use open recovery, I just assumed that meant it was now working. Oh well, all is well now.
never mind i figured it out, open recovery only works with internal for now.(it may be because TWRP-2.2.1.4 is mounting the micro SD as /sdc instead of /storage/sdcard0) I moved the goomanager folder to /data/media updated the download folder location in the goomanager app settings to /data/media/goomanager re-ran flash roms from the goomanager apps made my selections and order to flash and selected wipe Cache and Dalvik and it ran just fine, it rebooted to recovery, flashed all the zips(including my mods) in the proper order and booted back up with no issues.
Running EOS3-N58 at this time.
Dam sweet once i figured it out!
Great job!
Thanks

I had already flashed EOS3-N58, but had changed some files experimenting with getting Polaris Office to work and gave up. So, I followed your suggestion and moved a few other files that I normally flash along with the ROM and it worked like a charm. Pretty nifty. I setup the order to flash for EOS3-N58, gapps, Guevor kernel, nVidia codecs, iobusy, and DSP Manager along with the preliminary cache and Dalvik cache wipes and it just worked like you say. Thanks. I hadn't tried that feature yet, mostly because until now I thought it might break something since I had read that open scripting wasn't working yet for TF101 somewhere. I can say now, with this recovery and your change to the download folder, that it is working and working well. You just have to have whatever files you want to flash in that folder (or maybe just somewhere in /data/media) and you're good to go.

[Q] TF101 - Custom ROM Worth if?

Just flashed my tf700 with CROMIX and it has made it into a new device. I've now started looking at my TF101 as well. It had pretty much ground to a halt, but I did a reset and it is now running as it was when new (running last stock asus rom). My TF700 was pretty much unusable so the new rom was a no brainer, but the tf101 is working fine, so not sure of the benefits?
Is it worth putting a rom like Katkis (4.3 or 4.4) on? What benefits/downsides will I see? Thanks in advance
In a word, Yes. Very much worth it.
KatKiss gives the TF101 a new lease of life, Im running KitKat 4.4.2 KatKiss #17 and it is a flying machine
I don't use my TF101 much at all, it only comes out when on holiday or ocassional lazy day at home. You don't exactly need a speed demon for music, movies, mahjong, book reading, email or web browsing.
That old saying of - "if it ain't broke don't fix it". But whilst I don't NEED the latest and greatest, the geek in me WANTS to stay at least semi up to date.
There are some dedicated and clever devs out there and I've been happily using KitKiss for just over a year.
Downsides? None that i can think of.
Benefits? A warm fuzzy feeling you've just put fresh life to an old forgotten child that was once your pride and joy.
Absolutely - Revolution HD 3.6 is a stable, fast albiet older 4.0.03ROM that performs excellently on the TF101. Y

You should try KatKiss, you'll not know what hit your TF if you're still rocking an ancient ICS ROM
I used megatron, revolution, eos, kk 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4
If you want lots of features/customization go with 4.2 as it has loads of that.
KK 4.3.1 is better than 4.2 IMO but has fewer customization and features.
KK 4.4.2 is the fastest of the three but lacks some customization because it's new.
It also lacks the Tablet UI (only Phatlet UI) that google ditched (I don't care cause I switched to Phablet long ago).
Thanks all for advice. I took the plunge and went with kk 4.4. It ran well, bug i had issues with sd card mounting (now fixed in r18) and also had wifi issues with the connection dropping out. I have now gone to kk 4.3 and am seeing how that runs. Have to say that it is very much a learning experience as previous versions of android have always been asus, even cromix is based on asus core. Never really sure if something is missing, asus specific or has been dropped by google (ie disk mounted icon in. status bar isn't in kk4.3, but is on cromix 4.3).
I will certainly persist to see what happens.
KatKiss 4.2.2 #226 is probably the most stable bug free version so far imo if you're looking for stability over new features, very fast and smooth, I don't remember having any issues with that ROM at all, and it comes with the Tablet UI option
Thanks Detection - I did just that. Got KK 4.4 running and after a few startup issues it seems to be working well. Will try a few other versions. Appreciate the recommendation.
tempted...
I'm on EOS 4.2.2 (whatever is in my sig I think) and it's been working really really well. I'm hesitant to try KK4.4 as things have never been better. I'll hold on a little longer until I feel that desire to tweak is too much to overcome.
If anyone has thoughts to persuade me, I'd like to hear it.
Cool! I was just going to ask for this myself after seeing there's not much activity on the TF101 branch for CM. Trying KatKiss now
Well if you are feeling adventurous, you could install Linux on it and transform it into a fully capable computer instead of just an Android tablet. Currently there is the rootbind kernel that allows you to dual boot
twrp 5.6 from play store
Hi all, (pardon my grammar, i am from the netherlands, aka Holland)
newbie here with tablet flashing.
I have been reading to long and thus to much i guess youtube showed a lot to, to people allready having a base on these things...
So i see many trees, so many, that i can not see the forrest through them.
I downloaded twrp form google play, thats not 2.6, but 5.6 (and called 'manager' this is not the same as the 2.6 version, thats not 'manager'?)
or so
Also i got goomanger , goo.im ? sounds like that.
Dragged (from windows) the downloaded KatKiss-4.4.2_019.zip and gapp something something
in to the root of allready rooted tf101 (that i learned and did in i guess 30 minutes)
started the app : twrp > install > the zip file... nothing. Stop, reboot, still on stock 4.0.3
goomanager, install rom, then appears direct the message "no goomanager folder", seeking for that i did not find where or how the goo manager should be or made, or named.
Also, and logical, much is dated in early 2012 for the asus transformer tf101. So broken links, other tool versions, time alwayss advances.
To bad, not many advanced 'end users' will get to a good start anywhere, all i found was texts from people with to much experience.
To make it short and simple, things like Starting how to's with : flash so you have root. Then download rom X, and flash it with (you name it) and oh yeah, set debugging ON."
I hope someone can direct me to a how to, with step 1 and many, not the ones i found, so for newbies, not for those knowing the base of these things.
I have root acces now.... yeeeee... i do not use these app's, well yes, 2 now, but they did not upgrade my tf101 to katkiss android 4.4.2..

Hi, Twrp manager from playstore is a "manager" for TWRP Recovery using openrecoveryscript. Don't use it to flash katkiss android 4.4.2 coming form ICS 4.03 stock.
At fisrt you have to flash the TWRP Recovery. You can flash it with easyflasher or goomanager (if you're root) : Open GooManager > 3 dots menu button top right > "Install OpenRecoveryScript".
Once you have successfully flashed TWRP, you can flash any ROM you like from TWRP Recovery by booting into recovery
(Volume Down & Power until white text appears at the top of the screen, then release buttons and press volume up once)
Copy the ROM & Gapps to your extrenal SDCard
boot into recovery and, go to advanced wipe, wipe SYSTEM, CACHE & DALVIK CACHE, DATA, INTERNAL STORAGE (not external storage wich is SD card)
Go to the INSTALL menu and find your KatKiss ROM & Gapps (on your external sorage)
Flash ROM
Flash Gapps
WIPE menu and wipe only CACHE & DALVIK CACHE
reboot, You should be booting into Kat Kiss now. Enjoy

Wow, thanx for the walk through, i guess i will, if katkiss works, pay you a token of apreciation via PayPal.(if you have that)
Another question, since i do not have a small sd or 'normal size' sd card above 512 MB (and how formatted, fat? ntfs...?) can it be done by wired pc connection?
I have got the win 8 pc seeing the tf101's 'internal onboard sd memory' and offcourse on this pc the mentioned rom's.

Hi, for sd card format to fat32,
If you don't have any sd card you can flash rom from tf101 internal storage, from windows copy kk rom & gapps to tf101 internal storage
reboot on twrp & wipe all except internal storage.
Please have a look here : http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...07-rom-jb-4-3-katkiss-multi-window-tf101.html everythings are explain (the installation for 4.3 & 4.4 is the same.
Good luck
thanx !!!

Thanx! Finally i got it working!!, because of your directions and explenation!!!
I now have a tf101, clean as a whistle, with fresh 4.4.2. android rom.
(Some things are still not ok, but that's the rom, like ehhhh pictures library, when pressed the standard app on desktop, it mostley opens and stops, sometimes it works...)
And i want to put a little amount of practical thanx there, if you have PayPal.
Private message me your PayPal email adress and i shuffle some over.
kat kitt 4.4.2. netflix and video
Hee all, a newbie here, i can not replye in the thread itself.
What came into my mind was 2 things, also needed stock after some update of android.
nvidia tegra something...
and arm7. (drivers? codecs?)
perhaps these are missing/wrong ones in 4.4.2 and thus netflix and i.e. utopiatv.nl does not work.

Happy for you
I'm on kk4.4 and it's wonderful, but only thing is annoying me is that I can't put accents with the dock in, I mainly write in spanish, so this is certainly a big issue.
Any tip about how to fix it, I already have the dock layout set to Spanish,so this is not the problem.
Thanks in advance!

OmniRom Twlight Zone - WTH is going on?

This is my first attempt into breathing life back into my tf300t I've had for almost 3 years. Hardly used it do to the continuing blog down that always occurred and the lack of updates by Asus eventually led me to unlocking/custom rom/rooting and then soon thereafter to here. Knowing nothing about the process and procedures, although somewhat computer literate (I started on a TRS-80 in the early 80s), I did the cursory research for the uneducated I decided to try the lollipop variant of Kisskat 5.1.1. I used TWRP to make a recovery back up and then wiped/flashed/booted. Fooled around with it some but discovered a few quirks. For one, the zone closest to the Asus logo was rather warm to almost hot even if you throttle back the performance. But more importantly after installing my apps via the play store I began to notice some media issues. For one, the video was a bit choppy (I use VLC player) and my mp3s seem to be inoperable on almost any app. (I typically use Fusion and EZ Folder Player but nothing seemed to work). I kept getting issues that seemed to be related to the recognition of folders of file types. Often telling me an mp3 file was not a recognized folder or that the file type was not recognized or in some cases (EZ Folder Player) I simply could not change directories to access files. Any help in these areas may put me back in the KissKat Camp... at least until the thing catches on fire... then we can roast marshmallows and have a camp sing along.
Before jumping on the forum I thought I'd try a more simple fix - try another rom. Tried OmniRom and while not as zippy (or hot) it seemed stable enough to go with for a while. Did the Gapps recommended for the latest pop rom and the superSU file. Loaded my apps from the play store. Then decided that perhaps I should back up all my apps after having went though applying all the correct passwords and what not. Read the Titanium Backup was a the best option. Made an initial internal mem backup of all apps then read that I could create a zip of the apps to use as a recovery method off of an SD Card which sounded the better option for me (seems far more secure). Then I felt that I was at a juncture where I should test my backups before moving on the custom folders and docs and so forth only to find out a problem was in the works when the time came at an inopportune moment down the road. Well I discovered a problem. I booted into TWRP and wiped then used my recovery to bring it back to the last known state before my first flash of a custom rom (not sure if this is even a necessary step but it seemed like it certainly couldn't hurt). Then boot/re-boot to TWRP, and having read a full/complete wipe was necessary I wiped everything (Full data format - then wiped all options in the advanced wipe section other than my SD Card where I was holding my files for flashing). Then flashed (1)OminiRom 5.1.1 (2)Recommended Gapps package (3) SuperSU, and - this is where I may have had a bad moment - the Zip file generated by Titanium Backup Pro - Is this even where I can flash install this file???Was kinda lost there. Well... I think I then tapped the TWRP button for wiping/clearing the Cache / Dalvik Cache having read (although also having read to the contrary) that this was necessary to avoid a bootloop. Then I rebooted and arrived shortly thereafter at the OmniRom Boot animation of the droid bot blinking eyes and wiggling his antennae which is as far as this Rom, which once loaded and operated fine, will now go.
I have since tried several times to reload the rom only to the same end. I have even tried the latest nightly on the rom. Same result. Tried the latest version of TWRP (2 updates since the 2.8.5.0 I initially installed with) and both updated TWRPS were riddled with problems for me - Most importantly they would not reboot - had to force close via the power button only to have TWRP reboot to itself and the process start again. As well, TWRP would not do anything as no partitions were mounted nor could I mount them - just red error messages on the console screen when I attempted to do even a simple wipe. Obviously I was getting deeper into the omniRom twlight zone.
KEEP IN MIND - this is the weird part - I COULD and still can (1) Boot to TWRP and recovery to my initial recovery file I made of JB 4.2.1 stock from Asus (if it didn't suck with lag I would have stayed there to begin with) and (2) I COULD ALSO FLASH THE KISSKAT CUSTOM ROM but as I said I had issues with it which led me to try OmniRom which I thought was a good choice until the problems.
At this point, as I sit here - I have used fastboot to reinstall the TWRP 2.8.5.0 (since it was what worked initially) and I have TWRPed to the recovery JB 4.2.1 and then wiped everything using TWRP - Data Format and all advanced wipe options less my own SD Card. Another issue - I tried the latest release of KissKat #26 and this time, in addition to the problems noted earlier, I cannot seem to mount the SD Card as it is now unrecognized by the TF300t (although it worked fine in the #25 build).
I am at an impasse and any help with any of these problems would be greatly appreciated. I just want to get a decent functioning custom rom on this tablet to get some more life out of it.
Thanks in advance,
Dog.... from somewhere near the outer limits of the realm of... the twlightRom
