[REQ] Floating pen icon for GB - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Themes and Apps

Hello guys.
In ICS,there is something I miss on GB - floating pen icon, that shows up when I am close to screen with S-Pen. Is there a way to get this on GB? I really don't want to upgrade to ICS,because there are major things,I don't want.
Some skilled programmer could do that IMHO.
Thanks.

I add my question: is it possible to replace the white dot with a black arrow, on Rocket Rom (ICS) ? CM9-based roms got it.

On gb: its not only the hover icon of the spen absent, u r missing the whole spen comfort, when i got my note (gb) my pen only responded if i click the button, but on ics its amazing. i think u missng a lot, if u use s pen ?

I am missing a lot? What exactly? I miss only this thingie, because the pen isn't accurate as my needs. ICS doesn't solve the accuracy, only displays thic point. Nothing else more.

[REQUEST]Nexus launcher

ok so ive dowloaded a few "launcher 2" apks floating around and i decided that i really want the REAL one... i want it to look exactly like the one seen on the nexus one... INCULDING THE SCROLLING!! i have one right now that looks exactly like it but the scroll animations arent the same. on the one i have, as soon as the app icon hits the bottom or top of the screen it dissapears completely... and it always has to kind of lock into position... i want the one with the smooth scrolling and the apps kinda roll onto the screen... can anyone help or at least agree with me? cuz i havent seen any complaints about this and to me its a little annoying... thanks all who can help
i think the clockwork mod launcher in the markret is like what i want but it only works on stock 2.1 roms and im on the Ic3 rom btw...
You'll never get the "real" launcher. What you see is what you get. Either deal with it or make your own...Helix launcher is about as close as it gets...Its limited due to hardware.

Home button issues and my fat thumb!

Trying to come up with a solution to a problem and would like some suggestions. Using the ICS keyboared, when i occasionally hit the space, my big ol thumb hits the home key once in a great while and sends me out of typing.
I really like the ICS keyboard, and do not like the HTC one at all. I suppose I could try swiftkey X on this device, since i own it.
Any other ideas?
keep trying more apps there are a lot of them out there. swiftkey isnt that customizable. if it bothered me so much i would consider accidentially shaving off whats in the way in a woodworking session with a finely tuned tablesaw. oops...then a little bandage and a few months later, problem solved.
perfect keyboard is good for this, There is a free and paid version..
you can modify the size of the keys to suit your fingers, You can make the letters higher and / or wider so they are easier to press,
and it looks similar to ICS keyboard too.. give it a try and see, if it works, you could but the paid version for even more customisation
Using swiftkey. It lets me adjust my keys if need be. Curious if there is a way to perhaps turn the sensitivity of the button down a little bit?
Hmm. Added the arrow keys. Seems to help.

Best way to improve typing experience on SGS2 / ICS?

I recently got a new Galaxy S2 and though I have no complaints about its speed, the on screen keyboard is atrocious. I'm running the AOKP ICS ROM right now and using what I assume is the stock ICS keyboard.
Coming from an OG Droid, my main complaint is that the on screen keyboard doesn't always follow the text while typing, I find myself often typing off screen and I can't pinch and zoom out with the keyboard open, it's very frustrating. Also, the selection marker seems to jump around making it very difficult to get to a word I made a typo in due to it being off screen when I typed it. I find it easier sometimes to just backspace my entire sentence than to fight with it. After a google search, this doesn't seem like an uncommon complaint.
Also I'm not a big fan of having to hit the "back" key to pull down the keyboard when there's no done button, as hitting it twice has a chance of eating whatever I'm typing.
What do you guys suggest?
Other than that, I don't much like the cramped viewspace I have when typing, but I suppose nothing can be done about that. It'd be nice to have a higher ppi display, with pinch and zoom with the keyboard open.
On another forum some suggested downloading a paid keyboard that allows the addition of arrow keys, but I'm reluctant to make the keyboard take up even more space onscreen.
P.S. I'm trying to get my post count up so I can post some bugs in the development section. Thanks all!
SwiftKey X is the best keyboard I've ever downloaded. It has a stinking awesome auto correct and several themes to choose from to match your phone interface. It's even got some neat gesture shortcuts and you can adjust the size of the keyboard on the screen from small, to medium, to large (which sounds like something you'd like) in both portrait and landscape mode. It has a 30 day free trial and after that the auto correct stops working, but the app is only 50 cents. I'd super highly recommend it, that's what I'm using with my galaxy s2. That and a crap ton of swype Good luck, hope I helped

I agree with him. I love SwiftKey x. I am currently using the beta 3 version and it is awesome. Truly worth the money spent on it.

LectureNotes note taking app

So I have been using this note taking app for the last few weeks and I thought I would share it with you guys. This is by far the best one for me because it differentiates between s-pen and touch inputs and also has continuous scrollable pages.
I use the pen to write and the touch input to scroll down. It automatically opens a new page under the one you were writing on when you reach the bottom of the page. So, it really is a proper notebook replacement for me in class.
Here are the settings I use it with,
settings>input> Use stylus(hardware detection) enabled.
settings>input> Allow one finger scrolling enabled.
settings>input> Allow two fingers zooming enabled.
settings>tools> Auto-forward page enabled .
settings>tools> Auto-forward page setup - bottom boundary selected.
Here's the play store link for the trial version, let me know what you guys think. This one really was worth buying for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.acadoid.lecturenotestrial&hl=en
The trial version is limited in the number of notebooks (2) and the number of pages per notebook (8).
Edit - for CM9, landscape offset can be set in settings>input>Shift input setup
I love this app. Had it on a flyer before it died and it is fabulous on the note.
The dev is one of the most responsive people I have seem in software development. Would recommend everyone to try it, fast, accurate and feature rich.

Doesn't work with Alliance ROM... Cannot understand why with custom roms (like Alliance or Criskelo) the S Pen is not recognized by these programs (same that happens with Jotter, that doesn't work).
yeah I think I saw your post in the alliance rom thread.. very odd. Only the dev will be able to shed light on why it does not detect the s pen on the rom. What happens exactly though, the program doesn't start up?
btw it works fine for me on rocketrom v4

Jotter doesnt start, Lecture starts instead but when I select "Use stylus" and try to write, it simply doesnt write.
By the way, if it works with Rocket, maybe I could change Rom.
How is the battery with Rocketrom?
Depends on the kernel you use I guess.. I'm very happy with rocketrom and the speedmod kernel. Rocketrom 4.1 comes with a cf root kernel by default but speedmod gives the best balance of smoothness and battery life for me. Definitely worth a shot.

seconded!
Been using this app for 2 months, it's now an everyday companion for note taking!
Dev is responsive and is more than willing to take your requests and suggestions. Great app and great dev!
does it work the sime way with aosp roms
thank you dude this is a really great app for note taking and you can rest your hand on the screen while you are writing without any promlems
i have been stuck with tw roms because of the s memo and i didnt find any great replacement for it yet
does it work in aosp and miui roms the same way it does with TW roms ?
if so , it would be fantastic
i would be able to flash any roms without sacrificing the functionality of the s pen
Comaparison between Jotter and LecturNotes
How Jotter and LectureNotes are comapred in terms of features and usability. I'm ritht now using Jotter and quite satisfied.

So, curiousity made me go on a flashing spree to test the app on aosp/aokp roms. I tested it on asylum, liquidsmooth and paranoid android and the result was the same (expected, but hope made me try all three).
What happens is, it detects the s pen fine and can also differentiate between a touch input and the pen input, which means you can still scroll with touch and write only with the pen.
The bad part is, it screws up when you try to write with your palm on the screen.. When a touch input is sensed you cannot write (writing is intermittent and buggy) whereas on a TW based rom only the pen input is sensed when there is a pen input and a touch input (your palm) together..
So, whereas you can write easily with your palm resting on the screen on a TW rom you cannot do so on a aosp/aokp rom.
All other features work without issues.

I have not used jotter myself so maybe someone else can compare them better, but, does jotter have continuous scrollable pages or do you have to keep adding a new page and navigate to it like snote?
LectureNotes Automatically adds a page under the one you were writing on when you reach the bottom letting you continuously scroll down and keep writing.

Jotter is not having continuously scrollable pages. You have to continue add pages like S Note.

thank god my memory is ok !
i remember that i tried this app while i was on asylum ICS and as you said it was unusable when you rest your hand on the screen
so i guess im stuck with samsung based roms
it seems like a good alternative for the stock Snote. I was using Snote during my courses for taking some notes, but i will give a chance to this alternative one, hope to be more practical then Snote
So I thought I would let you guys know that this app is now fully usable with aosp/cm9 based builds. CM9 has fixed the issue of the touch input interfering with the spens and you can easily rest your hand on the screen and write (the same should go for all other apps which sense hardware stylus input).
Lecturenotes also provides the functionality of setting a touch offset to fix the spen offset problem in landscape mode for cm9.

I don't lnow why but google play tells me that this app is not compatible with my device. I'm using a non rooted Note.

CM9 now has palm rejection working. I am on PA and it works well. That should not be an issue now.

Jellybean keyboard better than ics or is it the same?

Is the jellybean soft keyboard better than the ics one? The ics has bad lag on it when I type fast. Also the space bar is weird so when I type I hit the b or the n key instead of space.
Thanks for your responses, jellybean is sounding better every time I read about it! Lol so excited for a skyrocket port. Lol

Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) keyboard is better than the Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) keyboard. JB keyboard learns your typing habits to predict and to correct words a lot better (like Swiftkey) and responds faster. The ICS keyboard would throw suggestions at you while you typed the word.
I prefer ICS over Jelly Bean... im cant seem to get a full sentence right at one go!
Yes it will be much better, similar to SwiftKey which is the BEST keyboard to date.

QUOTE THIS. i tried many keyboards, but SwiftKey 3 is the BEST one! :good:
Jelly Bean better, because of word prediction.

JB keyboard
Jellybean keyboard is far better than ics one, also, there is offline voice typing included :good:
One thing I really miss about the ICS KB is how the punctuation marks showed up in the suggestion bar after a press of the space bar. With jb I'm having to long press to get anything other than a period.
JB a lot better

The question mark and exclamation points were something I used CONSTANTLY. I will probably get used to it. I hope the prediction makes up for my loss of speed due to this feature loss.

Does anyone have the install file for the Jellybean Keyboard to work on ICS devices?
Jelly Beans better
Hackers keyboard
In my opinion u guys should try hackers keyboard for android
I haven't noticed that much of a difference yet. I guess this might change as I use it.
