[Q] How to transfer videos from Android to iPod Touch OTA? - General Questions and Answers

How to transfer videos from Android to iPod Touch OTA?
Hi Everyone, Next month I am heading overseas on a holiday to europe. I have an Android Phone (HTC Sensation - Telstra/Australia) and an Android Tablet (Acer Iconia A500). I would like to be able to send my girlfriend Photos and Videos of my experiences there. The problem is she only has an iPod Touch, and so I was thinking that WhatsApp would be a good solution...the problem is that that isn't supported on the iPod :/ So I am hopeful that you could provide me with another solution. sending photos isn't a drama, because I can do that over facebook messenger, so just something to send videos through would be awesome! Being able to do it for free would be another plus.
In advance, Thank you very much for your help!

You could try using dropbox, it's easy and free.

dropbox, mediafire, skydrive... if its short you can try by mail but Im not sure u can extreact video from mail and save onto iPod...

And now you can use Google drive.

Hi everyone!!
Thank you very much for your advice, I actually found a great app called ebuddy xms which actually allows for video to be recorded then sent to a contact and viewed from within the app with the click of a button. Very impressed with its simplicity, and best of all, its totally free!!
Thanks once again,
Wilcey

Live Stream Video?

I have tried Qik on my Galaxy S, and it doesn't work.
Tried Justin TV but it lacks quality videos.
Which app could I use to stream live good quality videos (doesn't matter if I have to pay)
And is there another APP to have an online photo album? Something like I took a photo and it goes automatically online for the public?
I'm traveling tomorrow, and I want my family to see the places I visit.
Thanks
Take pictures and email them. Lol, j/k. Do they have the same phone as you or possible an Android based phone? If so try the app called tango.

[Q] Music Sync

Hello there,
After my 16 Gb SD card decided that after I removed my phone from the PC in USB Hard Drive mode to become corrupted in some way, I decided that I'd check out HTC Sync to see what I could do to make sure that I kept my collection of photos as up to dat as possible.
Picture synchronisation is great. Works fine and takes mere seconds to hook up.
My problem comes down to music... and it's probably because I'm an awkward so-and-so.
I use FLAC for all of my music, with the exception of any iTunes and Amazon MP3 music I buy. It might be bulkier on the capacity requirements but I prefer it over MP3. HTC Sync won't sync up .flac files it seems and it would mean switching to MP3 or finding another way of doing this.
Anyone got any suggestions on how to sync flac files? The best I can think of is renaming .flac to .mp3. AFAIK, it should not change the file content or quality and should play normally through an app (PowerAMP in my case)
I use a very handy app called Syncness. It automatically copies all new files (regardless of format) in nominated folders to a specified spot on my pc each time it sees my home wifi ssid, or when I manually hit the 'sync now' button within the app.
It's a bit tricky to set up at first, but the developer is without doubt the best I've encountered on android marketplace and responds to questions extremely quickly.

App costs and is 4 stars, but a lot of negative reviews lately. It does not inspire me.

Hey. WinAMP can manage and sync your music library to Android device (even without WinAMP mobile app) and you can use default music player.

Syncness seems to work flawlessly on Wifi. I've only run a test sync so far but I'm confident that it will work just as I need it to.

Stream Music From Drop Box

Since HTC One X does not have external sd card and most of us got 25gb free drop box space, I thought this would be helpful for ppl who want to stream music from drop box.
Reason in writing in this topic: My HTC One X was my first android device and I did not knew that we could stream music from drop box, so I wanted to list all the apps which I came across in my search. I hope this helps noobs like me.
Note* - Mod's if you feel this topic is unnecessary plz delete it
1) AnTek Explorer + AnTek Drop box / Box.net client
Free App, Music player is good (with Equalizer)
Read this to known more about how to add your drop box or box account - http://anttek.com/playing-music-with-anttek-explorer/
2) Just Player
After you install Just Player you need to install Drop box music provider
Free and Good music player .
3) Dropsync
Full two-way sync. Just like Dropbox on desktop
Instant upload: new files (for example photos) are uploaded to Dropbox immediately, no need to wait for the next autosync cycle
You can buy the pro version to get more futures such as
Sync multiple folders
* Sync the whole Dropbox with a folder on your phone or tablet
* Upload files larger than 5 MB
* No ads, of course
Finally if someone did not get 25gb free drop box space they can get free 50gb box space - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18221721

Audiogalaxy is the best thing I've found to stream my entire library from home. It's free. 6 or 7 of my friends are logged on too. If you have good quality source music, audiogalaxy will sound as great, better than anything else I've tried. It caches the next song so its ready as soon as you hit next. You can also login fom any computer by going to audiogalaxy.com and stream your library.

While I have found streaming music from dropbox to be very convenient, a major downside for me is the fact that it consumes a lot of your allotted data. Especially if you have a bunch of 320 kbps songs like I do. Memory really is this phones only major drawback, however I just tend to keep my library updated and it hasn't bothered me too much. 16 GB is still a lot of music.
I prefer storing pictures and videos on cloud since I view them much less frequently than I listen to music, so when I do need to access the pictures or videos I use a lot less data. Just my 2 cents

But that's only if your music is .mp3 or .flac (and you're willing to just listen to mp3 on the go). If you have a whole bunch of music from iTunes, Google Music is a terrible idea since it transcodes .m4a to .mp3. Amazon is a good idea too right now, but it does cost $25/year but it will just match a whole bunch of music rather than doing uploads.

Exactly. Just have to have an always on computer (like my cheap server I built with second hand parts that cost me <100$) and an always on internet connection.
Setup is even easy with subsonic because you get a yourname.subsonic.org address so you don't have to remember your own IP address.

Yeah, its definatly a neat little program. I'll play around with it later this week.

While we're on the subject, does anyone know of a good video player that can also list /stream videos from dropbox? For example, I use mx player and I can add folders to include. Now that storage is at a premium, im having to move most of my videos /movies up to dropbox. It's been real inconvenient trying to browse / play them now.

subsonic is incredible. If you aren't using it, you're missing out. I have nearly 8TB of lossless music I've collected over the years and I stream from all over the world. And myself and ~10 colleagues at the office stream all day. It's an easy setup and it just works....and the caching support on the android app is pure gravy.

Nice j dee! I hate it when my youtube shuts off in the gym. Can't leave the screen on and put it back in my pocket
Come on peeps keep em coming. I like the list so far. It's small and precise not large and burgeoning. Let's go over something very relevant: STREAMING from your HD
Jbeans 4.2 Camera- Full Screen Camera (compared to 4.1.2) and gallery you could flash for your 4.1.2 phone
Mediahouse Player- An organized app that collects all the shared music videos off of shared directories on your computer use in conjunction with. Allows you to favorite directories/devices. Really neat app
mx player- easy ui can easily disable/enable hardware software encoding for audio and video during play
v player- like mxplayer, could be better with UI, but unlike MX player allows you to set buffer to a whopping 8mb...so longer initial load for video but plays back perfectly otherwise
ES file explorer- save network drives
I usually make the default player for ES v player and for media house mx player. Good setup. Mx Player allows you to manage defaults for video players in-app too. Another neat feature. Well worth the money for that app.
From the computer end there are a lot of options to stream (I made a post about this a while back...search on me) but I like PS3 Media server 1.70.1 for my PS3. It allows for real-time transcoding for devices where your video format (ie mkv) isn't available. I also install TVersity server on my computer end and both servers as well as the raw files allow me to wirelessly stream every tv show except for planet earth which has a ridiculous bitrate.
Only other thing to worry about on the computer end is to make sure your sharing settings etc are set up as openly as possible. I have a homegroup password and everyone in it is allowed to at least read my directories
Hey zetsui,
sure, I love my HOX and GNEX phones (by now even more than my PC) and why not participate in sharing cool underdog apps?
Is that Mediahouse player the one you can download from the Play Store? Sounds pretty usable to me

Way better than stock audio recorder. Can record as mp3 at 128kbit/s, good enough for me. Of course, you can increase it. Can record as ogg too.
Solid explorer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer
Might be popular, but worth a mention anyway. Fast, free, full of useful features, no ads... Did I mention the slick ui?
Cpu adjuster
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ryosoftware.cputweaks
Like setcpu, but free. You can have 3 profiles in the free version. Ought to be good enough for beginners.
Also worth checking out: servers ultimate.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icecoldapps.serversultimate
These apps are in xda too, but play store linking is more convenient.
Advanced Touchpad Remote Control
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arcoid.advancedtouchpad&hl=en
Turns the phone's screen into a multitouch touchpad.
Perfect for Laptops with short HDMI cables.
