Infuse USB Connection Issue - Samsung Infuse 4G

Recently we have been getting in stock i997's that are having USB issues connecting to the computer. As always we enable USB debugger and connect to the computer however now the units are going into charge mode a few seconds after connecting to the computer and shutting the device down. Once we disconnect the device from the computer it automatically restarts.
Here is what we have done so far with no luck:
-Enable USB debugging
-Disable USB debugging & enable mass storage
-*#7284# was set to USB=PDA, changed to Modem & back to PDA
-*#9090# Didn't see any relevant options
-Slightly bending the USB port
I don't think it is a hardware issue but a software issue that needs to be configured. Any help would be very much appreciated!!

USB
Get it as stock as you can with software. If the USB still does not connect correctly then it is a hardware issue. There was never a problem in any stock rom with USB connectivity.
Just my thoughts. It may not be the phone but the connection-- Computer, cable, oops,-- or drivers.

I'm facing the same problem !
I too have the same problem very weird tried several time stock have no issue in connection. this issue occur after few days not immediately and no regular pattern so can't say what's going on. right now my phone while put on charge shows charging but when un plug it still have 1% as charge no battery put to charge message shows up, tried with charger, usb to computer.
I also noticed before that charging stops and only come in effect when you pull the battery and plug the cable put the battery it will start the phone automatically and charge start up.
Can't ever put in charge in switch off mode as every time it automatically switch on my phone.
I tried several time these step 1. Go back to stock by heimdall , 2. heimdall kernal flash for red cwm, 3 wipe, format, fix permission 4. flash
couple of days work smoothly then problem reoccurs

Did you try mtp mode like with media player mode

Thanks RDomke for the reply.
We already flashed UCKD5 with no luck. Would there be anything else we could do? I agree that it may be hardware if stock doesn't work but we have been getting in too many units out of box with this issue. Not saying that it isn't possible to be hardware, just seems like it's something that could be software related.

SOLVED

RDomke,
Many thanks as we have solved the issue with your advise. The 1st unit we were testing did in fact have a bad usb port. Once properly diagnosed we tested another by flashing it back to stock and then performing a factory reset. Once done issue was solved and worked on many other with same issue.

[Q] USB Mass Storage Won't Connect

I upgraded to Sky-ICS RC7.4 Speed yesterday and today. Obviously the USB mass storage was working earlier because I got the .zip file for the upgrade on the phone. Well, just a little while ago I tried to connect so I could pull those zip files off just to save some room and it won't connect.
I can charge the phone, the laptop(Windows 7) and the phone both make sound/vibrate when connected. BUT, with I go to "Connect storage to PC" it tells me to unplug the cable, which it hasn't before but I did it anyway. I unplug the cable press the connect button again it states to connect the cable, I do. Press the button to connect and I get the same result. I've tried enable USB debugging and try again and it states to disable, blah blah blah.
It's great that I can charge the phone via USB all day long but really sucky that I can't access any of my files via my laptop.
Anyone had this issue or know of any fixes that may alleviate this issue? I sure would appreciate your help.
FYI, USB drivers are installed on the laptop and reapplied after the the issue of not being able to connect USB mass storage...
update: I am able to see the two mounts in computer management on my Windows 7 machine but not able to access them through My Computer.
I was reading from other threads about a possible Windows issue, how I find it unlikely, but I did a system restore from an earlier date and that made no difference. It's still a matter of the phone connecting completely to the pc.
Also tried different ports and usb cables, no avail.
I could really use some input so that if need be I can access the files on the phone to either flash back to stock or at least modify the files I have on there now to let me be able to attach my mass storage. I'm liking the the rom it's just a few little things like this that are making me completely love it.
i have the same issue if i plug in to the front usb ports. no problems with the back and its only been since i updated to seans latest speed stripped ICS rom
I was having the same issues. I turned the phone off, took the battery out, and then restarted it. It worked.

Correct; you need to reboot your phone because you probably connected / disconnected too fast and the phone is bugged out now.
I'm on 7.4 speed stripped and its working fine for me. Did you try installing the Samsung USB drivers exe in the dev forum?
Wont connect even on tablet
This is My also Case on my tablet. i cant connect to usb mass storage please help me what to do. icant remove the battery of my tablet and i only open it after 5 hrs so how?

[Q] USB Device not recognised [SOLVED]

I'm suddenly getting this issue when I plug my tablet into a Windows PC (have tested on two different PCs). I get a "USB Device not recognised" pop up.
More info:
1. happens on both the direct tablet and dock connections
2. have tried 2 USB cables
3. seems to be around the time I updated to .30 but there is no way I can attribute it to this, probably a co-incidence
4. I've done a factory reset and reloaded the .30 firmware from scratch
5. It does still charge though with the AC adapter
I really don't want to RMA the tablet but it seems that is the only way.
Has anyone seen this issue before? Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I'm going to try roll back to .26 but I'm suspecting that it must be a hardware issue.
I could probably live with this, but need to have the PC connection for transferring large files and for adb / flashing etc.
EDIT: seems that it is not possible to do a downgrade from .30 to .26 via the SD card method (let's call it the official method). This might be a .30 issue, I can't tell..
Not an expert here.
Would reloading the PC drivers and enabling USB debugging make a difference?

Thanks, I have tried that It flashes up the message immediately when plugging in - on multiple PCs. USB debugging seems to make no difference either. I've isolated the cause to be the tablet itself, not the PC. I'm going to try on another PC later.
Mine wouldn't connect last week for some reason.
I unplugged it and removed the micro SD from the tablet plugged it back in and it showed up.
Weird thing...not sure why it did that.
Hope you can get back from USB Hades there.
So it turns out that the Jelly Bean update fixed my problem - for those in future who may encounter this issue. I'm quite glad that I don't need to RMA the device. I can't understand how even over a full reset and reflash of the .30 firmware the problem was not resolved. In any case, I'm just glad to have a 100% working tablet again! Hooray

[Q] USB works in fastboot but not ADB - not a driver issue

Anyone having an idea why my (only 3 months old) Nexus 5 no longer connects in ADB mode? Fastboot works, in Windows and Linux. But ADB does not. In Linux dmesg, I can't see the device connecting which was different yesterday: I could at least see the device connecting but then within a blink of a second disconnecting again. In Windows, I'd hear the usual USB connect sound but the device does not show up in the device manager.
Other issues I discovered yesterday:
* connecting the device after fully booted puts it into "permanent charging mode", read: the thunderbolt icon does not disappear. It says "charging (USB)" in the battery stats even when disconnected
* connecting the device while turned off, then booting, puts it into "permanent no-charging mode", read: the thunderbolt icon never appears, the battery does not charge
In both "modes" connecting to a wall charger changes nothing. A full reboot is needed. Then it works flawlessly with the wall charger unless I dare to use a PC for charging, that's when it returns into sticking with the thunderbolt icon. It will fully charge while in this state until I disconnect the device. Then I'm stuck with continuous discharging until rebooted. This is reproducable in recovery mode to where - according to dmesg - it acts the same.
Today, however, this has changed: It even does not charge the phone when connected to the PC.
But back to the core of the problem: I can no longer connect with ADB. This worked before. And I'm using Linux. So it is none of those strange Windows drivers problems. I tried different cables (including the yet unused original one), different ports, without and with USB hub. So it's probably also no cable issue. And anyways: All cables and ports I tried worked previously.
Somehow I feel it might be a software issue within the phone (and I hope its not a hardware issue) because it works without problems in fastboot mode. The only problem to maybe resolve the issue is either reflashing factory in fastboot (which would work) or sending in for repair. Both options I do not like because I cannot backup my partitions.
BTW: The device is stock ROM, no root.
Anyone heard of such problems?
What's the output of 'lsusb' with device plugged in?
Is "Developer Options > USB debugging" option on?
What's the adb version that you're using on the PC?
It's there in fastboot, and gone when starting recovery or booting normally.

Huh?
Please, answer the questions.
Sorry, only saw the first question. USB debugging is on but should make no difference to see the device in sideload mode. Adb is of course the latest version, updated yesterday from Google SDK.
Plugging the device in shows nothing in dmesg as I would expect when the device is fully booted, no matter if USB debugging is on or off. Tried both mtp and ptp modes. The only outcome is that it no longer accepts the wall charger for charging from this point on until rebooted. It looks like USB freezes internally in the phone as soon as USB data is to be negotiated. It works in fastboot however so the port circuit itself does not seem to be broken.
I just discovered it because I wanted to sideload 5.1. I think the issue had been there for some time as it would explain why I found my smartphone fully charged but turned off sometimes when connected to a PC previously and to a charger later.

Sorry, not Windows, not a driver issue. I need to get the device to show up on the bus when connected. By the way: in Windows it doesn't work either. Same behavior, different system: yesterday I still got the USB detection sound but nothing in device manager, today even the sound does not play. And I can no longer charge the phone after this incident until the phone is rebooted. It only works in fastboot mode - in Windows and Linux. So this strange behavior is even not OS related or tied to a specific PC.
BTW: I'm familiar with the driver issue and know how to fix and handle it. This is another issue.

Are you running stock kit kat or LP?
Is your bootloader ulocked? if yes which recovery?
If you are Stock and Locked and you are certain its not driver related,
it seems like a wipe/factory reset or clean factory re flash is your only option. or just unlock the bootloader and it will wipe everything.
or
you might try using fastboot to erase the cache and refalsh the factory cache.img. Maybe it would help

Thanks guys... I'll try replacing the USB charger board. It seems pretty easy and does not cost too much. But first I probably wait for the 5.1 OTA to really arrive "over the air" and see if anything changes. Hope it will be here soon. I'll report back about the outcome.
Meanwhile it shows up on the bus again but instantly disconnects:
Code:
[27406.850676] usb 4-1.6.6: new high-speed USB device number 14 using ehci-pci
[27406.948794] usb 4-1.6.6: New USB device found, idVendor=18d1, idProduct=4ee1
[27406.948797] usb 4-1.6.6: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[27406.948799] usb 4-1.6.6: Product: Nexus 5
[27406.948800] usb 4-1.6.6: Manufacturer: LGE
[27406.948801] usb 4-1.6.6: SerialNumber: 065c07e0xxxxxxxx
[27407.933139] usb 4-1.6.6: USB disconnect, device number 14
After this, the thunderbolt icon in the notification bar stays. The device notifier in Linux shows up for a short time and I think it showed MTP is available. Now I have to reboot in order to do anything with the USB port of my phone - it won't even charge until I reboot.

No USB Connection

Today, looking at the storage left i noticed i had only 12.55 instead of ~25 (my N5 is the 32gb model) and i tried to reset the device following a guide. Easy, right?
No.
The device didn't connect to usb, i tried 3 different cables, on 3 different pcs, with and without drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling them, even reinstalling windows on a machine. Nothing.
I thought it could be the OS, so i changed rom(i put on Cataclysm 6.0.1) but the situation was still the same.
I even tried to mount the storage in TWRP but no signal at all.
Not even fastboot. Only charge.
You are my only hope, please help me.
What guide did you follow? A factory reset is not called for yet.

here some suggestions on the usb ploblem, didn't work.
I also tried the driver guide from NexusRootToolkit, resulting in a 30 second connection recognized by the phone but not by the PC, a laptop running Win8.1.
i didn't include 3 other threads on XDA that redirected everyone to a common troubleshooting.
While plugged in, swipe down from the top and change usb charging to usb for file transfer.
Is that what you are wanting?

There is no signal AT ALL, no choice between charge and MTP, no devices in Device Manager on windows, nothing.
I tried turning on debug usb, no signal.
Tried forcing MTP in developer settings, nothing.
Only one single time i heard the classic windows sound telling me a device was plugged in but there was no phone on file explorer and the phone was only charging.
It's only charging now.
UPDATE: turns out the FLEX connector is the real problem since the screen went full retard and now looks like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/nexus-5-screen-colorful-static-t2600032

Unable to have phone recognized as a device on any computer

Hello there! I posted in the N00B thread without any success and so am casting a wider net:
I have a rooted phone that's been working well for about 1.5 yrs and all of a sudden it's not able to connect to the computer via USB. It was working fine til about 3 months ago, no new apps or changes to the system as far as I know. It still charges when connecting to the computer but I don't get the prompt to choose the USB mode and the computer doesn't recognize it as any sort of device. I've tried it on several computers that have recognized it in the past without luck (drivers up to date) and have tried different USB cords.
I've gone to USB and developer settings and changed and restored default settings for USB connection as well as toggled a bunch of other settings in that section.
I've wiped the Cache and Davlik Cache several times.
I cleaned out the physical port. Any other thoughts? thanks!
If you are on windows 10 PC, the latest windows updates could be an issue. I faced the same issue with my computer. After rolling back windows update (or may be resetting the PC to default settings) has helped resolve my issue and i could connect my phone again normally. It is nothing to do with your phone as far as i know.

You said the drivers were up to date but you didn't say whether you tried completely uninstalling the drivers. If you didn't, uninstall every driver you can find related to the Honor, reboot and plug the phone back in. I'm running the absolute latest version of Windows 10 and have no problem connecting my wife's Honor 8.

Thanks for your suggestion - I did try rolling back the update without benefit. Also, to reiterate - this is not being recognized by several computers (including a Mac) and that leads me to believe that it's the phone that's the source of the issue. I don't even get the USB menu (Charging, MTP transfer, debug mode, etc) when I plug it into several different computers.

It may be too obvious but did you try another USB cable? If it's not the cable try this with the default dialer *#*#2846579#*#* then select in background>usb hisuite, connect the cable and see what happens.

I have tried different cables but no suggestion is too obvious! My sister in law actually also has an Honor 8 and her cable on my laptop is recognized, so that's what I've been using to troubleshoot with my phone. I did go into that menu you suggested and I tried toggling HiSuite, Manufacture, and Google and exit the menu and still nothing when I connect the cable (other than charging). Thanks

Have you played with any of the developer options like USB Debugging or USB configuration...... Nevermind, just re-read your original post. I was almost sure the dialer thing would fix it but if a reset won't I'm at a loss. I still don't think that it's a hardware problem but I guess it could be. There are things like wiping the cache partition that I see some folks have used for various problems. That would be an option that wouldn't affect your apps.
