[Q] shipping non removable battery phone - General Questions and Answers

Hi, i am about to buy a cellphone from a member here on XDA. He reside in Ohio (u.s.a) and i am in canada. I have read somewhere that shipping some sort of batteries are prohibited so i would like to know if there would be any problem if he ships the cellphone (declaring the package contain a cellphone) will there be any problems crossing the border? (the phone have a non removable battery)
Sorry i don't remember/can't find the thread where i read this (not sure if it was for U.S/Canada neither)
Thanks!
(Also, can he ship it as a "gift" with usps so i don't get crazy import(duty) fees?)

Purchasing HTC Tilt on EBAY

What are some things to look for?
are there many fakes selling out there?
I've seen a few that say "new" but no original box....or some are new in original box but with no UPC barcode!
what does this mean?
are they stolen or refurbished? Some come from highly "legitimate" power sellers...
thanks guys!
you might want to buy the ones with ALL packaging details (new or used, for some reason i dont trust refurbished items), and buying from power users with 95+% rating or normal users with at least 98% would definitely help
New with no Barcode means they bought the phone as a upgrade/new contract type of thing and did the rebate but never used the phone.
signs
what are some signs that it is actually refurbished?
i also dont know how some "powerseller" gets a hold of so many HTC tilts that are all new in box but with no UPC?
did he literally get that many phone upgrades and rebates?
or what about ones with no box at all?
do you buy this story?: "The phone is an insurance replacement which is why it is new, but without all original accessories."
One thing to be aware of is (in the UK at least-but probably other countries as well) is that you will not be able to insure it on a 'gadget' policy (so no breakdown/loss cover) as the small print normally requires an original receipt (not from an auction eg:ebay)-your house contents policy may cover it but only in certain circumstances.
So if it goes faulty you coould be in trouble.
Hope this puts a different slant on it.

Move to marketplace
There is a dedicated section for selling where you´ll have more chances to succeed
This thread is being closed. The OP doesn't meet the requirements to list in the marketplace and that might be why they listed it here. Sorry.

Buying from Chinese websites.

there are imei prob
bt worst is battery life for such phone
I bought a phone from some seller on Alibaba a few years ago. It was my first chinese android phone. You can base your decision on things like seller reputation and such. Only problem I found were shipping times. Got it after 3 months. I bet it's not always like that.
.
Thread moved to Q&A due to it being a question. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
Buy only from online shops that have been selling goods for many years. You can check some phone models and reviews here: www.chinaphonereview.com
Focalprice
You try focalprice there are a lot of android phone and they send
Anything over $50 and I prefer to keep it in the same country. Things have a higher chance of being lost and getting bad customer service when the people who you are buying from don't speak the same primary language as you.
Also, unless you pay more for shipping (or it is included). Shipping time from China can range from less than two weeks, to over a month.
(I) tried ordering a (S)mall battery once, it (W)as lost (I)n shipping somewhere at a pos(T) office, w(H)o knows where...
If anybody is still interested in this topic, I ordered a ZTE V970 from etotalk recently. I chose them mainly because they accepted paypal. Order was placed on Friday evening, shipped on the following Monday and was delivered to me in Belgium on Wednesday. I can't fault the delivery time, the phone has been great so far. Only problem was the custom charges (an extra €25).

Full protection case (TPU) for Moto Z (Indian version)

Hi all!
I have slapped a Nillkin style cover (available on Amazon.in) on my Moto Z. But the case, though quite slim, doesn't protect the device quite adequately - that's the way I feel about it. I know I can go directly to Otterbox portal and order that there - but I am too reluctant to pay a hefty postage fee! Can anyone please recommend a good case for protection, which is available on either Flipkart or Snapdeal or Amazon (dot in) or for that matter on any Indian online market?
By the way, how is Nillkin as a brand? Are they a reputed one?
Thanks in advance.

Theoretically, yes I can.
But practically I would NOT recommend doing that. The reason being two fold:
I remember seeing "only for sale in India" somewhere in the box - I may be wrong - and unfortunately I can't verify that now since I dumped the package in the garbage. If I am true, then I am unsure whether that will pose any unnecessary inconvenience in the customs checking.
Secondly, the cost of the package and/or postage will be around 3800 INR (if not more than that). So, that effectively makes the entire cost somewhere around 44000 INR (approx). Add the overseas transaction charge on paypal to that.
Under these circumstances, I'd have bought the device locally, if I were you.

I would have done this way IF @Moto they had decided to sell a reasonable version in Europe! It's not a matter of price, problem is that here they sell only 32GB single SIM versions which are NOT what I need..!
They *know* that are using absurd selling politics and in fact they have forbidden all on line retailers to sell abroad. In all the world. BUT this doesn't apply on private2private sellings, so no problem for "India only" labels...
I'll travel to Malaysia in some days and I'll see what would be available there. After that I'll decide what to do...
If in the meantime prices will not drop a bit, would you eventually interested in a, let's say... 45.000 INR selling?

I understand the situation. Let's discuss regarding this though PM (have already dropped you a message) - I intend to keep this thread clean and on the topic.
A shameless bump.
Just wondering - why don't we get the Otterbox or Spigen TPU cases already in India?

[EU]Buying an S7 on Amazon?

Hi,
I want to buy my mother a new phone for her birthday, and have decided on an S7 because (a) I'll probably never have to buy her another phone again and (b) she'll be able to stay on the Sammy-train, where she's very firmly set *sigh*
However, I don't want to buy from a local store because the prices, (it's like the S8 line doesn't exist) and I'd also prefer an unlocked model in case she switches carriers. I've been looking at amazon.de, and their prices are more reasonable. But I have my doubts, mainly about if the phone I buy will turn out to be fully genuine (and brand-new), or will turn out to be somehow SIM-locked or have the wrong firmware like in this thread. [EDIT]Also, what about warranties & repair and stuff like that?[/EDIT] I'm aware that it will be region-locked to the EU, which every seller says it should be (and it better be the right region, too). I've come here with this query as it's likely to be the most knowledgable environment for S7 stuff. So, yeah, if there are horror stories out there, I'd love to hear them.
Finally, yes, I have searched, but all the relevant threads I found were about amazon in the US/Canada/RSA. I'm in the EU, and need more info on buying Samsung phones here, as I haven't done so for four years now. TIA for answers
